It’s amazing to go into a book blind and absolutely devour it. A lot of times it’s nice to know what you’re gonna get, this one, I just went in unknowingly and I’m so happy I did. I am fricken in love.

This story was so refreshing for me. I smiled, I laughed, I cried, I cringed, I was completely feeling it all. But most of all, I loved the charming, heartbreaking tale of redemption and second chances at happiness. This story is gripping, compelling, and a story that will leave you utterly emotionally happy. We need more people in the world like Jude Sullivan. Well done Mrs. Boldt♥️ This is hands down a book I recommend to you all!

Jude is homeless by choice... a broken man punishing himself for a terrible tragedy that happened to him, but he is also a man with a huge heart. He chose a lonely life without any chance of happiness or comfort, as payment for his past sins, so walks the streets and does good deeds to pay his debt to society... He does not ask for payment or a thank you, only when given the opportunity, that they return a favor to someone else. 🙏😭

📚 “𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬, 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤.” 📚

Jude has touched the lives of many, including Faith Connors. Faith is a journalist at a local newspaper, an independent and caring woman who does not judge people only by their appearance and she too is dealing with demons of her own. 💔
When Jude saves her, she saves him too - and gives him another chance for happiness... but when she is asked to write the story of the mysterious man who has earned the nickname "the good Samaritan" by her newspaper, everything starts to collapse... 😬

Why does Jude live on the street and why does he feel he does not deserve to live a normal life? And what are the demons that haunt Faith? 😱

It's a story of forgiveness and redemption - and it totally made me believe in the good of human beings again. God, this guy broke my heart on every page! 💔
This story is mysterious, thought-provoking and most importantly... original. Highly recommend! 🙏

I really enjoyed this story! The plot was different from what I’ve been reading so far and that was refreshing for me.

“The Good Samaritan” was an emotional read it took me by surprise how heartfelt it was. Our H Jude is homeless, but on a mission to help people as much as he possibly can. There’s so much feeling with Jude, you can feel it through the pages and the burden he carries with him. Our h Faith, is just as lost as Jude but in a different way. I like how they meet and how Faith sees Jude as a person she knows there’s more to him. I also like that the author took time for Jude/Faith relationship to develop in a believable way, especially considering their situation.

More than anything I loved the beautiful message this book has about paying it forward, and how an act of kindness to a person can have an impact on our lives. Some books I’ve notice, have this special secondary character that just is so endearing, and for this one was Pauline, for me, a true angel. The epilogue was a beautifully done.❤️

Prepare to be completely blown away!

The Good Samaritan is an exemplary work of literature, a prolific combination of redemption and second chances. This touching and soulful novel unites ominous, unfortunate circumstances with the powerful inflection of unwavering love and salvation.

This book was so unbelievable good, I cannot put into words exactly how I feel. The storyline flowed beautifully with the development of the characters’ relationship. The emotions – both raw, gut-wrenching agony and the giddy feelings of a budding love – completely overflow from the story, making the reader feel thoroughly engaged and fascinated.

This book consumed me! From beginning to end, I was transfixed and wholly absorbed into the hidden truths and shocking revelations that transpired throughout. The complex, yet effortless, connection between Faith and Jude was simply remarkable. Both characters faced challenges of their own. But when together, their issues seemed to pale in comparison to their undeniable and magnetic chemistry that wielded the power to overcome any obstacles they face. Their connection was an instantaneous jolt of compassion and intrigue that radiates directly from the pages and into your heart and soul.

The Good Samaritan is a once-in-a-lifetime book. This compelling and intensely profound book will transcend any assumptions of what true sacrifice and penance really means. A beautifully tragic and excruciatingly wonderful romance that will leave you utterly breathless.

5+ Stars!

Unbelievable. That's the only word I could think of to describe The Good Samaritan. Even though I thought the story started off a little slow and repetitious, once the true story got going, I was hooked. RC Boldt is a wonderful storyteller and completely enthralled me with this story.

I am not sure if I would call this book a true romance. Personally, I think it's in a class all of it's own. Jude and Faith were not your typical meet, fall in love and marry couple. They were so much more and some of the most intriguing characters I have read in a while. I was truly surprised with how much this story affected me. Both characters were flawed but didn't let it hamper their lives … they worked toward improving and giving back. And, once the true reason's why Jude was who he was came out, you couldn't help but love and respect him more. He was just an amazing, loving, giving person who wouldn't stop until he knew he improved a person's life even if it was just a little. He made this book what it was.

The secondary characters that were entwined in this story truly brought the story full circle. Father James, Pauline … these characters were just perfectly written to bring out the best of both Jude and Faith. They were supporting, loving and understanding people who saw beyond the facades of both of them and were there to support and care for them.

I seriously cannot say enough good about this book. There were humorous times, serious times and loving times. Like I said, it may have started off a little slow for me but I am thrilled that I pushed past that and read this book. It lightened my heart, gave me hope in mankind and just made me feel good. Thank you, RC Boldt, for giving me one of the best reads of 2018.

There's so much I want to say about this amazing story, but it all boils down to this:

Read this book.

Need more convincing? Okay, here goes:

The Good Samaritan was refreshingly original. The storyline is so unique, and set against the perfectly balanced smart/witty/emotional writing I've come to expect from Ms. Boldt? It was completely irresistible to me. It was fascinating and compelling and it touched my heart so deeply.

Seriously - should we talk about how many times it made me cry?

So. Many. Times.

But I also don't want you to think it's an ugly cry book because many of those tears were happy ones. This story just did a deep dive into my emotions and my heart invested, 100%. And that investment was worth every ding and bruise left on it, because it's overflowing now, filled to brim with so many giant, joyous feels.

GAH! I loved this story so much. Ms. Boldt has outdone herself with The Good Samaritan. From the beautifully unorthodox love story, to the heartwarming band of secondary characters (some of whom cranked my smile a mile wide)- this story is so wonderfully layered, so engagingly told, and so perfectly emotional. It's the whole package and I loved every piece of it. So believe me when I tell you: read this book! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

RESPECT❗️

The most riveting read of this year, even from the first chapter. R. C. Boldt’s skilful writing presented a journey so full of emotions, struggle, torment, redemption, soul healing, without being dramatic or pompous.
The characters were perfectly developed, with depth and certainly memorable, and the story was inceptive and full of messages - clear and powerful!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I found my favorite book in the first week of January - it has been replaced by The Good Samaritan.

Jude is homeless by choice.  It's clear that he's suffered a tragedy from the beginning. I couldn't wait to read what that was and man - I was not at all disappointed.  Faith is a woman who had a very tough upbringing and is now a journalist with the Vindicate, a Cleveland newspaper. (Can I also add how refreshing it was that this book was set in Cleveland?)

There's a good Samaritan in Cleveland doing nice things for people. They are making headlines. Faith is a reporter who is assigned to finding the identity of the good Samaritan - who clearly wants to remain anonymous.  One night, Faith runs out of gas in a seedy area of town, and Jude comes to her rescue. Then again, he saves her.  Thus begins the beginning of their friendship.

Faith is extremely close to her parish priest, Father James. He's more of a father to her than a priest and he considers her a daughter. He runs a homeless shelter at his parish, which is how he meets Jude.  Father James and Jude also embark on a beautiful journey.

I can't give too much away, but there are a plethora of amazing characters in this book. Max, Faith's roommate. Pauline, Jude's friend. Kane, Jude's cousin. The list goes on and on.

This book is unlike any other I have read in a long time. It's a story of survival, redemption and second chances. It's also a love story, and a beautiful testament (and quite accurate) to the homeless community. I've worked in a homeless shelter, with people trying to make ends meet, making minimum wage that doesn't pay rent. They are stigmatized as drug users and losers, when in most cases, that is just not true.  I felt the author beautifully portrayed the homeless and her writing felt very authentic.

What sucks you in and keeps you engaged though, are the amazingly beautiful characters in this story. You are pulling for Faith; you're dying to know what Jude's secret it, and there are some unexpected surprises.

I cannot praise this book enough. It was so wonderfully written and such a unique story. I would highly recommend this story to anyone. Please read this. You won't regret it.

***5 Stars***

I knew this book would take me on a journey but I didn’t expect for it to grab hold of me the way that it did and give me all the feels that it did, especially the ones of the teary eyed sniffly variety. But it and it did so much more which is why I feel like saying it was all kinds of goodness is an understatement, even when it sums up the book perfectly. Because even though this book is about finding that person who sees beyond everything to your true heart and adored it to pieces. It’s also about redemption, forgiveness and what it means to have faith and simply be a good person.

Now I have to say that I absolutely adored the “Good Samaritan” and his woman because they were both good people with good hearts who saw with their hearts and not just their eyes. They gave of themselves because it was what their hearts told them to. Simple as that.

And as for their journey to their HEA. It was a sweet one that melted my heart. I know you’re probably thinking, but how?? Well, I didn’t say it was an easy one, just a sweet one and I loved them together. They both had their own issues to face and work through, some of which were huge, but they did and I loved where they found themselves in the end.

As much as I loved the romance aspect of the book I cannot, and will not deny, that what really did it for me were the supporting cast of characters. Some I wanted to gut with a spoon, but the ones I didn’t I adored. They gave this story its depth and soul and had me believing in the goodness the human soul.

I’ve only read a cross section of the authors works, so to say that this one is her best to date isn’t a claim I can lay down. But what I can say is that this one is truly filled with a lot of heart and soul and definitely worth taking the time to read!

"How a stranger's touch can elicit comfort is puzzling to me."

Ahhh, yes!! This book hit the spot! I love when I can read a book, have no idea what's going on, but be completely stuck and can't pull myself away because the story is sooo intriguing. And that's what this one was for me. I have read most of RC's books (all besides her Teach Me series), and each one has something different to offer. It was the same with this one! OMGosh...I just really enjoyed this one. This is completely spoiler-free, including primary/secondary character info and I think you need to go into this book with as little info as possible. It made the revelations that much more meaningful. I smiled when things started to be put into place.

I think one of my favorite parts about this book was that there was an air of mystery surrounding "HIM" and what was going on with him, but the book moved. It flowed. It kept going, and little by little, it revealed some answers just in time to keep me holding on. In the beginning, I was almost a little nervous because I thought it was going to be otherworldly at first. Not that I am against that, it was just that I was a little confused. I didn't understand how he could move in the manner he was, but once I got farther in and got some more 'intel', I was able to continue on with the knowledge as to why/how things were happening - HUGE GRIN TOO!! But to say I was confused, that's definitely an understatement, so don't stop and just keep going! I'm just glad the story was as active as it was because that's what kept me pinned to it. I read this one fairly quickly (shocker!!) and didn't want to put it down. I *really* liked it, a lot. I smiled through most of the book and even leaked a little from my eyeballs a tad....which, I don't think RC has ever made me tear up. This one got me right in the gut for a moment. Once I found out "HIS" backstory, it was pretty sad....not gonna lie, but once it was made real and I had to really deal with it, that's when it became pretty harsh for me. I loved the way she wrote that part out because the uncovering of the truth about everything was eye opening and just made the reality of his situation that much more tenebrous. So very sad.

All in all, the feel good nature of this book was the kind that kept my mind busy, my heart beating and my smiles aplenty. It was definitely a story shrouded in mystery, but the discovery was very rewarding so as not to be too heavy or woeful. The social impact, the learning capacity of this book, is actually a pretty important one and the way she told it made me see that it was content rich and fluff less - which I appreciated very much. It was almost as if the romance was an added bonus because the secrecy was so prominent in this story, but not overwhelming so we got to fall in love naturally and quite easily. I just really liked how this one unfolded!! SO good!

And no worries....for as heavy as it was, we still got some of RC's signature giggle-worthy moments at just the right times.

"Everyone has secrets. It's the ones we hold close and keep hidden that are the most dangerous."

RC Boldt delivers an incredibly profound and touching story. A story of grief and love and goodness, it was utterly captivating.

The Good Samaritan had such a unique and intriguing plot. So many secrets, so many questions. The excitement and suspense had me desperate for answers but the romance and development kept me content and engaged. I swear, Boldt can write anything. No matter the genre, the dynamic story lines pull you in and the rich characters breathe life into the story. The emotion in this book was palpable. From the highs to the lows, I felt it all. I was so wrapped up in these characters and their story, I didn’t want it to end.

I’ve adored my prior R.C. Boldt reads and have been meaning to work my way through all the author’s work for a while. The one that has always stood out to me is The Good Samaritan, and I’ve finally worked around to reading it.

I will be honest and say I was fearful about this one at first. It did not suck me in the way other R.C. Boldt books have, and I was worried I would not enjoy it. However, I stuck with it and the book got better. A lot better. It continually got better. It was a slow starter, but once it was moving I found I could not put the book down.

It’s a book that gives both the expected and the unexpected. It offers a story that is unique but contains the elements readers love in their romance books. With many elements to the story, you’re curious as to how all the details come together, and will find yourself unable to put the book down until you understand it all.

Although it’s a slow starter, this is an emotional book that is well worth reading.

Where do I even start? The Good Samaritan by RC Boldt was an absolutely amazing read. I was engrossed with the story and the characters. I devoured this story in one sitting! It was completely unexpected and everything you want in a book you read.

Two people who are kind, open and honest, but also carry demons that weigh on them. Together they find a connection that brings them together. There is so much I want to share, but seriously, this is a story that you need to feel, and experience and I do not want to spoil anything. Just know this story was one of a kind that must be read! I am a huge fan of RC Boldt and with every book she writes, I love her work even more!

4.5, Everyone Deserves A Second Chance, Stars!!

“Sometimes, people lose their way, but the important thing to remember is that it’s always possible to find the road back.” ” The path may be a bit difficult to navigate and hard to discover, but it’s still there.”

“He’s the most tortured soul I’ve ever encountered. He’s bound and determined to carry this burden and not allow anyone else to help with the load, regardless of what it costs him…” “But when it comes to you, it seems to spark something within him.”

“Just remember, Faith. Everyone has secrets. It’s the ones we hold close and keep hidden that are the most dangerous. Because those can be the most damaging. Whether to their heart or to our own.”

“Faith single-handedly breathed life into a heart I thought was lifeless.”

The Good Samaritan has been on my tbr/watch list for a while now. This story sounded so intriguing that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. And when I did, I have to say, this story blew me away. It was so unexpected. So unique. It was a story that gripped me from the very first page and had me devouring each and every word.

The Good Samaritan is an unforgettable and unique romance. It’s not your typical love story at all. When I started reading this book, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the characters and their story. I was instantly drawn in. The plot was unlike anything I’ve ever read- A homeless man doing good deeds and saving those in need-I mean how unique is that?? Add in a bright young woman who is completely down on her luck and is just trying to make the best of the cards that life has thrown at her. Faith and Jude were such an unlikely pair, but somehow these two just worked. They were there for one another in the toughest of times and were a shoulder to lean on when needed. Their relationship was slow to develop, but definitely worth the wait. I loved seeing Jude open up and lower his walls. I loved seeing Faith bring Jude back to life and make him see the good that is inside of him; to see the person that he really is.

The Good Samaritan is a powerful story with many important messages. If I learned anything from this story it would be to always find the good in people. Understand that there is always more than what meets the eye. That there are so many good people in this crazy world, they just need someone to show them the way and to take a chance on them. To pay it forward when you can and have hope that there will always be a better tomorrow.

The Good Samaritan is an emotional story that I know I won’t be forgetting any time soon. It is a story of making choices and dealing with the outcome of those decisions. It is a story of helping others and making amends. A story of accepting help when it’s offered and finding your true self. It is a story of friendship and love. But, most importantly, it is a story of second chances. The Good Samaritan was a terrific read from beginning to end. I hope you’ll take a chance on Jude and Faith’s story and be just as captivated by this story as I am.

If you like a story cloaked in some mystery you will really like this one. Jude is currently homeless but this is by choice. He has decided he needs to atone for something and this is his way of giving back. What is he atoning for? You will find out. I will say the reasons were predictable. I was hoping for a bigger reveal. If you have read enough tortured heroes, it is pretty easy to figure out. The plotline was original and I liked the newsroom vibe. Faith and Jude were good together. They both had secrets but they were good people doing good things in the world.

At first I didn’t know if I would stick with this one, but my God it kept getting better and better as deeper into the story I got. Jude and Faith had so many issues. Not just issues, but secrets and anguish. Jude’s not coming out so much until the story progressed so much further. Both had heartbreak in the past and future. Obviously “Jude” was the “Good Samaritan” and Faith was the love of his life. You will not walk away without love and compassion from reading this story. It was one uplifting and warm-hearted read...

The Good Samaritan is a well written story, with a different and unique plot.
Jude - He is a kind and caring person but he carry demons. He is so tortured!
Faith - She has a beautiful soul, with a hidden past full of secrets. She is assigned to discover the truth about the good Samaritan, as her boss believes that he a farce.
Jude saves her from a vicious attack and each one senses in the eyes of the other the tortured spirit. An emotional, heartfelt story with a strong message : "How different our society would be, if people who experienced kindness ‘paid it forward’"

Jude.
The king of second chances.
"I'm a man who has nothing to offer, yet this woman - a woman whose soul is as breathtaking as her outer beauty - wants me."

Jude will make you love Faith as well as believe in Faith. The person and the belief.

"I don't deserve you." "But hell if I can resist you."

I couldn't resist this story either. If we all just look a little deeper, we may all have a little more faith in our lives. Heavens knows we could all use more people like Jude.

This book had been sitting on my kindle for a few weeks and had been drawing me in, I was a little hesitant as the only books I had read by RC Boldt had been romantic comedies, and this was her writing in the opposite direction. This one had a bit more oomph and guts to it. It had drawn me in though from the excellent cover to the whole idea of someone being anonymous and doing good deeds. In my mind, the main character Jude looked a little like Jack Reacher ( Lee Child's) role as they seem to have a similar upbringing and past and like Jack - Jude has no bank account, the clothes on his back and little belongings. To the outside world, Jude looks like a homeless guy but to Faith - he becomes her world and her attraction as there is something about him that she can't shake. It's like he's her protector. What happens though when Faith is given the story to track down the Vigilante and Good Samaritan all the while she gets to know and fall for Jude? What happens when she learns that they are the same person and then learns about Jude's past? What will happen when she discovers the man she loves is the new version of someone darker? Can Faith and Jude get their happy ending or will Jude's past catch up with him and undo all the wonderful and great deeds he has done for others ?

Holy Cow what a wonderfully heartfelt storyline the author has given us with “Good Samaritan”. With each chapter I felt like I was learning the values of human kindness while reading a terrific story with characters that wormed their way into my heart more and more with each page I turned.

Jude is hiding in plain site from some horrific event in his past. He’s living homeless on the street trying to atone for his mistakes and doing various acts of kindness for others in need. He’s all but invisible to most of the world but to those he helps on a daily or occasional bases he’s a generous soul with a kind heart. Authors all have their own style of writing, and these styles are a unique signature of sorts. As a blogger, I am truly blessed to come across a huge range of styles and coincidentally, it was through my blogging that I found R.C. Boldt. At the time I got that first advanced review copy, I had a ton of books in my kindle library that I had never even read and had therefore already purchased a previously released book by her. So, but that first ARC set the stage for my obsession with R.C. Boldt’s work and now I not only one-click a copy from Amazon on release day, but I also try to purchase them all as signed paperbacks to keep on my bookshelf. I love her brand of romance. R.C. Boldt is a talented storyteller whose style is constantly evolving. She writes sweeter and sexy rom-coms like a pro… but she also offers readers books that are a little soberer, more angsty and still sinfully sexy. I haven’t yet to find a book that she’s written that I would say was less than fantastic. After getting my hands on an early version of The Good Samaritan in June, I was moved by this inspirational story that reminded me just how versatile and skilled an author she in. And I can promise you, if I wasn’t already well versed in the art of social media stalking, R.C. Boldt would have been my next target… but by now, she’s used to seeing a lot of me! 😉 When I saw she had a new book releasing, I jumped all over the chance to read it. Heck, I preordered the paperback version to get my hands on it early! The Good Samaritan was truly phenomenal writing.

This story centers around a man who gives everything up in order to atone for what he considers his sins. As the story develops, you see one man’s kindness spreading throughout a city and that city begins to take notice of the mysterious Good Samaritan. Reporter Faith Connors is assigned to the story of this do-gooder as her boss believes that the Good Samaritan is a farce. And in her quest to discover the truth of the good Samaritan, Faith encounters Jude, a homeless man whose kindness shines through him. The pair form an unlikely friendship which evolves into a beautiful love that’s deep and true. Soon, Faith no longer wants to pursue the story she’s been assigned as all signs point to the good Samaritan being everything the testimonials proclaim he is.

The Good Samaritan is a contemporary romance that I found unique and thought-provoking. It’s a story that teaches empathy, of being judgment free, and above all else the importance of kindness towards strangers. Long after I finished reading the book for the second time, provocative thoughts ran thoughts my mind rapidly. What would our world be like if we lived a simpler life? Or spent more time helping others? What if those people who experienced kindness ‘paid it forward’? A single kindness towards another can cause huge ripple effects in society--I’ve experienced this for myself--and I not only strive to live by the ‘paying it forward’ mentality but I work diligently to teach this message to my kids. Therefore, the fact that R.C. Boldt wrote an entire story about a man that made this his mission in life was very powerful. Jude was an impressive hero who absolutely captured my heart. Faith was also a beautiful soul, who learned that she could fight negativity with her talents as a reporter. The sexy chemistry between the pair was heightened by their friendship. I found myself in tears twice while reading this story and I don’t cry easy. Oh, and I loved the grand gesture in this story—but that’s all I’ll say on the matter. Get your hands on a copy of The Good Samaritan at the earliest opportunity. If you're new to R.C. Boldt, I am sure that you will be one-clicking more of her work as soon as you’ve finished this one. However, if you’ve read her work in the past, you already know the gems that she releases. Either way, you can not go wrong with this book! Jude’s story needed to be told… and I can’t think of a single thing R.C. Boldt could have done to improve upon it.
