Songbird (A Zeta Cartel Novel Book 2) Kindle Edition
When cartel boss Arturo Vazquez discovers his girlfriend is a DEA rat and his deputy is staging a take-over, Arturo fixes his problems by killing everyone - except for Solitaire, his deputy’s unwilling mistress. Solitaire is intelligent, tough, and shares Arturo’s interest in BDSM. Arturo falls head over heels but someone is leaking information - and the evidence points at Solitaire.
Songbird is a compelling tale of vengeance, murder, cartel violence and finding love in the darkest of times. It is the second Zeta Cartel novel, and can be read as a standalone.

About the author

AJ Adams writes twisted love stories set in the violent world of the Cartel, Camorra, Belial's MC and Prydain.
All AJ Adams novels are self-standing and although some feature the same families, you need not read them all - but it would be awesome if you did.
If you enjoy these novels and want to stalk, please know that AJ is the pen name for Ellen Whyte.
Ellen married her best friend and moved to the tropics where they are living their own Happily Ever After. When she’s not writing, she’s cooking and pandering to her rescue cats Target, Swooner and Tic Tac.

- Reviewed in Australia on 6 November 2018I dived straight into this after reading Bonus. This series is so well written! The characters are fantastic and the storyline is perfectly twisty. If Cartel books are your thing, then this is a series you will want to sink your teeth into.

5.0 out of 5 stars Songbird
Verified PurchaseWhat an absolutely fantastic, rollercoaster of a read! This is the first book I've read by this author, and it sure won't be the last. Heard about this book on Facebook, can't remember if it was another although, or a blog site that recommended it but I'm glad I checked ch that day. This book is has so many twists and turns it'll make you dizzy. It's full of very strong characters, beautifully written and edited. I could not put this book down! If I could've given it ten stars I would have. A J ADAMS is a wonderful storyteller but this book also shows that she researches her subject matter meticulously, can't wait to read more from this author

5.0 out of 5 stars Songbird
Verified PurchaseWhy have I waited so long to read Songbird? I reviewed The Bonus (Kyle & Chloe’s story) on Jan 8, 2015 and Dirty Dealings (Quique & Natalia's story) on Jul 18, 2016. Songbird is actually the second book in the Zeta Series but, it can be read as a standalone and it does have an HEA.
I really enjoyed reading Arturo Vazquez (the boss of the Mexican Zeta Cartel) and Solitaire’s story. I loved Solitaire’s character. As per my usual I don’t provide you with a synopsis because I think the author does it so much better than I can. I think Solitaire is such a strong woman and no wonder Arturo falls for her. But, you will have to read Songbird to know why she is so strong! If you have read Dirty Dealings you will know who Quique is since he makes an appearance in Songbird.
Songbird does have a warning so do look at that before you decide to read this book.
I give Songbird 4.5 Stars and as always I love A. J. Adams books and look forward to reading more from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Arturo (amazingly) redeemed
Verified PurchaseI am impressed with how Adams was able to redeem Arturo after his actions in the first book. Talking so cavalierly about the murder of a four year old child to further business, and his ordering of Chloe’s torture at the beginning of The Bonus, made me feel like there was no way Arturo could possibly be a protagonist in his own novel.
I was wrong.
I liked how he took a chance on Solitaire. He could have easily killed her or ordered Kyle to, and not dealt with the hassle and risk of letting her out of that house alive. I think Kyle’s (admittedly limited) morals have rubbed off on good old Arturo a bit!
This book was great because it wasn’t just a repeat of the first novel. Although Solitaire and Chloe both have some serious mental issues to deal with following their pasts, they have very different personalities and coping mechanisms, which keeps the material interesting.
