Country Gold

Rate this book
A second chance...

A scandal ended the careers of the Wilder Sisters, the chart topping country rock band. But Lexi Wilder is okay with that, thanks for asking.

She's been on the road since roughly forever, so she’s going to enjoy the break. After all, there's nothing quite like the beautiful sandy beaches of Monterey Bay to soothe a woman's soul.

Luke Wyatt never wanted to trade fame and fortune for the only woman he's ever loved. Now that he's finished a punishing year-long national tour he’s headed back to his hometown of Whistle Cove for the quiet, the beaches, the inspiration, and the girl. Not necessarily in that order.

Nashville wants more country gold like the #1 song he co-wrote with Lexi. Luke is looking for peace and Lexi.

But Lexi hasn’t forgiven him for choosing fame over her…

Very sweet story

I really liked this book. Lexie was a little hard headed but I would be the same way if I saw a girl all over my man. But she didn't even try to fight for him. She let him go. They were apart for a year but Luke, who is one of my favorite heroes, won't let her go, ever. He fights a little dirty, very sexy, and was determined to get her back. It had a great epilogue too. I just really liked it. First time I read this author and this was free in KU, but I am going to read more of hers. It was just cute with her Gran and her suitor and the sisters. Maybe I love it so much because lately I have read about a lot of yucky heros . It's nice to finally get a true one.

I love me some country music, and when I can find it in a romance novel, I'm doubly happy!

I'd heard of this author before, but until this one, hadn't read her. I may even have some of her books in the TBR pile, but Country Gold caught my eye. Automatic one-click!

Luke and Lexi are a couple of stubborn people, and oh my, when Luke returns to his hometown to catch a breather and find inspiration after his tour ended, he's on a non-stop mission to win Lexi's heart back. However, she's not having any of that...at first.

Country Gold is a light-hearted, fun read. It's got both sweet and sexy moments. I love the Wilder sisters, and I love the way Luke wasn't about to give up when he knows what he wants. He's got fortune and fame, but it doesn't mean anything to him without the woman he loves. The one thing he knows for sure is that he made something of himself, and his childhood background isn't going to hold him back from being the best man he can be for himself, his fans, and Lexi.

A solid, entertaining read. I love the small coastal town, and love the country music background with the characters. Looking forward to more in this series, and more from Heatherly Bell in general. Recommended!

This book is the start of the new series , Wilder Sisters. This one belongs to Lexi Wilder , the oldest of the sisters and the one that is the caretaker of the family. She and her siblings had been one of the most successful girl country bands, until a sex scandal destroyed their image and the band. Now they are trying to keep afloat their grandmother’s B & B in a small town in California.
Luke Wyatt who used to work for them and also was Lexi’s one true love, has been gone for a year . He is now an up and coming Country singer thanks to a song he co-wrote with Lexi. He needs a break from touring and goes to the B & B in hopes of getting his girl back.
It’s a story about family and about how careers and lives can change overnight due to a scandal. It’s also a story about fame, it’s ups and downs, and personal losses. But it’s also a story about hope and love.
I have to confess that since I am not a fan of country music, for me, it was more of a 3.5 star book. But having a great deal of respect for the author, and realizing that my opinions are subjective, I am giving the story a 4 star rating.
I was entrusted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I was excited to read Country Gold by Heatherly Bell. I was intrigued by the blurb and I was not disappointed. I am a huge fan of actor/musician stories as they try to maneuver real life with fame and fortune.

Lexi Wilder and her sisters were part of a successful country band, until a scandal brought them down. Now they are living a quiet life back home. Lexi is okay with that. Luke Wyatt just finished his own tour and is ready for a break. He decides to go home and get his girl back, but can Lexi ever forgive him?

Lexi is not ready to let Luke back in her life, but he is one very determined man. But Lexi is done with life under the lights and attempts to push Luke away. All Lexi wants was to live a quiet life and move forward, but Luke was not willing to let her go. I loved the characters and their journey so much. I am looking forward to getting the other sisters stories as well!

This is Lexi and Luke's story , they were together until he chose his career over their love and now Lexi and her sisters are trying to keep their families B&B running.
Luke is finished with his tour and now he wants to relax on the beach and get his one love back but that might not be as easy as he thought.
This is a cute second chance romance and it shows how life can throw you for a loop and how strong you have to be to keep the ride going and your love strong

Second-chance romances are my favorite, and this one was pretty good. What I felt was missing is more of the backstory of why the hero and heroine broke up. But the otherwise this was an entertaining listen and a good start to the series.

Country Gold will weave its magic on you the way good (country) music does on your soul. I grew up on country music, it's storytelling set to music and as a small town girl, it usually tells the story of my life, so Ms. Bell did a great job writing a book that feels authentic and real.

The Wilder Sisters were a squeaky clean country band at the top of their game until their fans turned on them. Sporting a super clean, purity brand, things went awry when a sex scandal broke with one of the girls. Now the sisters are hiding out and trying to keep their grandmother's B&B afloat in beautiful Monterey Bay. (Heck of a place to be exiled!) Lexi, the oldest sister and resident song writer of the group, finds her inspiration has also taken a hiatus. The words which once flowed from her have been silent for the year that she and her boyfriend have been apart.

Luke Wyatt owes his career to the Wilder Sisters. As the son of a felon in a small town, he wore the resident bad boy label before he could do anything about it except live up to it. Few people ever saw deep enough to recognize the passion and talent underneath, except Lexi, who convinced her manager dad to allow him to roadie for them and later had him join their band. When the scandal hit, his star skyrocketed to the top as the sister's fell. Luke's relationship with Lexi hit the skids too and it's his biggest regret. His tour has recently ended, he needs a break and he has every intention of getting her back. She's not going to make it easy on him but he's ready for the fight and she's worth the effort.

This book is a lovely second chance novel with a great redemptive thread. The sisters and Luke were great characters with lots of depth. I related to and enjoyed the story on several levels! I see great things for this series! Great read!

Country Gold is the beginning of a new series by Heatherly Bell. The “Wilder Sister” series is about a popular country group made up of three sisters. The group disbanded when a scandal came to light about one of the sisters. After their career ended, the sisters returned to Whistle Cove, California to run their parents hotel.

This particular book is about Lexi and Luke. Lexi is the older Wilder Sister who had a romantic relationship with Luke for years. However, they broke up when he started travelling on his year-long tour. He is so busy that he did not have time to return her phone calls and her text messages and was always in the middle of a throng of beautiful women. The final straw was when Lexi saw a photo of him at a party with a beautiful woman.

Now that his tour is over, Luke has come to apologize to Lexi. His goal: reunite with Lexi, both romantically and professionally. He plans to apologize and atone for his mistakes. He also wants Lexi to co-write more songs with him and then go on the road with him.

I always enjoy a book where the hero makes a mistake and grovels to win his love back. He refuses to give up in spite of Lexi’s attitude and her desire to constantly mistreat him in order to hide her real feelings. I like that Luke is aware that he took her for granted and is more-than-willing to rectify his behavior.

On the other hand, Lexi is independent, stubborn and unwilling to compromise. She has immersed herself into the running of the hotel and is adamant that she will never go on tour again. There are many times when I feel that Lexi is too stubborn and too inflexible about accepting Luke’s overtures, even though I understand her reasons.

I also enjoy meeting Lexi’s two sisters. They are interesting women with their own individual personalities. I am looking forward to reading their books.

Wonderfully written story surrounding Luke Wyatt and the love of his life, the one he had and then lost, Lexi Wilder. Two country singers, she a part of the once successful Wilder Sisters, he once part of their band, now the solo country sensation. The girls band, now away from the music scene because of an unfortunate and scandalous incident involving the youngest sister, are running their family's B&B back home. Luke, finishing a huge tour. Needing a break to recharge and write some songs, he returns home where he can have some peace and quite; and maybe, just maybe, get the heart of the woman who has always held his. After arriving to the quaint B&B, Luke soon finds that he definitely has his work cut out for him where Lexi is concerned, but it is a job that he will not quit until she tells him that she doesn't want him or until he has her right back where she belongs, beside him and in his arms.

This sweet romance will play your heart like Luke and Lexi play their guitars. Slow and steady, reaching it's crescendo only when the time is right. And their "song" is played beautifully, sung to perfection with the background singers of their family to see them through to the end. And their background singers, the supporting characters in this story, are wonderfully written with each having personalities and characteristics that make them each unique, entertaining and endearing.

I loved this book and can't wait to see what comes next in this series. I highly recommend this book.

With the first book in her new Wilder Sisters series, Heatherly Bell brings us Lexi’s story. We see her come face to face with her old boyfriend and get a front row seat as he tries to rekindle their flame. The premise of the story is interesting and the characters were quick to grab my attention. I would have preferred a little more depth to the backstory of their relationship and the timespan, etc. to give me a deeper picture, but overall a satisfying read. Looking forward to the sister’s stories!

Country newcomer Luke Wyatt is coming down off of the high of his first big country-wide tour, and he’s exhausted. His body aches, his mind is burned out and his heart hurts from the empty hole she left behind. He knows he needs to get on the songs everyone is stressing him to write, but his first stop has to be home. Whistle Cove, California … and her. He has to make her see she’s everything … and then he can get back on the path of his future.

Lexi Wilder was once part of a big country sensation herself … until scandal brought them down faster than they could turn around. Now running her Gran’s B & B is keeping her busy while she pretends not to notice all the headlines about him … the one that was too busy to be bothered with her once she wasn’t there by his side anymore … the one who with all of the women clamoring for his attention.

I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review.

I am a big fan of this author from her other stories so I was pretty excited to hear about this new series and it was a wonderful rock star/romance with some good small time and friends vibe. It is #1 of the Wilder Sisters series.

This first book is about Lexi and Luke. Lexi is the oldest sister and she has always helped take care of her sisters. They are all girl band that look was a roadie with. But then a scandal rocks them and they retire back home. Only Luke has gotten noticed and so as their careers in music are ending his is beginning and he picks the music of Lexi.

One year later, the story starts with Luke finally on a break and coming home and making things right with Lexi. I LOVED Luke. He was in a tough place and he made a very tough choice. But he is all in with Lexi and he has to show her that she owns his heart. This was a great 2nd chance romance and I cannot wait for more.

This new series by Heatherly Bell is a show stopper!! A #1 hit just like the song from the book. Country Gold has just the right mix for a second chance at love romance. It has wonderful characters and secondary characters, comedy, drama and heartache.

Luke chose his music and fame over the girl and now he regrets it. He was gonna a year on the road and now that he is home he finally has his priorities in order. One problem, the girl he loves won’t forget the fact that he left her.

Lexi, also a talented musician was in a band that due to a candle split and removed from the label. Now they run a bed and breakfast and enjoying the quiet of their town and their lives.

What I loved most about this story is that it shows a lot about living and learning!! Making mistakes and trying to fix them or move on from them. Luke and Lexi have grown a lot in a year and what matters most to them now was not the same as a year before. I absolutely enjoyed the struggle of the story, the commonality of the music and the comic relief in between. Well done. Look forward to book two!!!

This is the first book in Heatherly Bell’s new Wilder Sisters series, and I can’t wait to read the others! The country music backdrop– with a girl group that disbanded after a major scandal and the rising star of the roadie-turned-singer – evokes high-concept, and author Bell puts her own unique twist on it. It’s the Dixie Chicks meets A Star is Born, with heartache, tons of roadblocks, and a satisfying happy ending for main characters Lexi and Luke.

I really loved the relationship growth for Lexi (the oldest Wilder sister) and Luke (the roadie whose fortune changes massively by going to work for the Wilders – and who goes on a journey to win back the love of his life). It’s a small-town story of going home, and the two people who mature, forgive, and find their way back together.

If you love alpha males, you’ll love Luke, btw. Both the protagonists of this story and the side characters were developed nicely – loads of humor and heart. This book stands alone, but I also look forward to reading the other sisters’ stories.

Title: Country Gold

By: Heatherly Bell

Genre: Adult Romance

Rating 4 ****

Review by Danielle for Janise's Jivin' Book Blog

Country Gold is my first read by Heatherly Bell. I have to say I fell I love with Country Gold from page one. Heatherly really had me feeling like I was there with the characters and feeling the emotions that they felt. She really made you feel like you was on that tour bus with Luke and his band at the beginning.

One of my favorite things about this story is that I could relate to Lexi. We share some things that are similar. There was a quote at the beginning of every chapter that really related to what was happening in that chapter. I liked that part. My favorite quote is: " Dear Heart: stop getting involved in everything. Your job is to pump blood. That's it" - Meme"

I would definally read another story by Heatherly Bell.

Country Gold is about Luke Wyatt who is a country singer who just ended his year long tour. Lexi Wilder runs a B & B with her sisters and grandmother. Lexi and Luke write a song together and they were in love. Want to know about Lexi and Luke and find out what happens, you will have to check out Country Gold... It is a must read and I really think you will enjoy the book.

This is the first in a new series and I loved it!

Luke, a country music superstar, returns home to try to win Lexie back, more than a year after they broke up. Lexie wants no part of Nashville life and does whatever she can to discourage Luke's advances. I really liked both main characters and loved Lexie's family as they could be quite funny.

I am definitely looking forward to more of the Wilder sisters!!

This was great!

This is a good book that needs to be made into a Hallmark movie. Well...most of it anyway. As a country music fan that loves a good HEA story, this is a good example. It has all the major components; strong characters, a misunderstanding and interfering influences. Now I will be wishing my life away waiting for November for the next installment.

The book Country Gold is the first in a series, Wilder Sisters. The oldest of the sisters Lexi is the caretaker of the family and looks after her grandmothers BnB. Lexi and Luke Wyatt were in a country band along with the other sisters until a scandal hit. Lexi and Luke were in love but when the scandal rocked the band Lexi left and Luke went solo. After a huge tour Luke needs a break and goes in search of Lexi to find out what happened. Is there hope for these two and will things work out between them.?

I really liked this book and can't wait for the next one. I highly recommend this book

This was the first book I have read by this author but definitely won't be the last!

Luke and Lexi have a past...a past Luke wants a second chance at. Lexi is out of the country music eye, running the B&B with her sisters.
Luke is done touring and ready to take back what his. The one person whonhad his heart. Now he just has to convince her. Will she be able to give him a second chance?

This was a great book and I can't wait to read more of the Wilder Sisters!

This is #1 of the Wilder Sisters. This first book is about Lexi and Luke. A scandal ended the careers of the Wilder sisters, but Lexi is fine with that. Luke keeps coming up to his hometown of Whistle Cove to win over Lexi, but each time she refused to see him. He refused to leave this time. Can they make it work this time? Time will time! The end I loved.

This was a good book about forgiveness and love. I can not wait to read the other Wilder Sister books.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a new to me author. The story was good and I would recommend that you read it. It was a bit slow going for me. It seemed to drag a little but in all a good read. Lexi was in a band with her sisters and Luke was a roadie. They fell in love then her world fell apart and his world got better. Luke wanted her back and didn't intend to leave without her. There is a second book coming and I'm eager to read it also.

I was hooked on this book from the very beginning. Luke was your sexy country singer that was portrayed as a bad boy by the industry but really was just a small town guy in love with a girl. Lexi was part of a country singing girl group with her sisters that fell from grace by a scandal involving her sister. Lexi and her sister retreated to their hometown and ran the family’s b&b while lying low. After his tour ends Luke needs time to rest and regroup plus he needed to show Lexi that he is ready to put her first after being thrust into the spotlight and not knowing how to handle it. Lexi gave him a hard time kind of when he showed up to stay at the b&b but since she was still in love with him she couldn’t stay away. You could feel the chemistry between Luke and Lexi right away even if she was annoyed he showed up on her doorstep. Luke got Lexi to embrace her music roots again and it opened her up to writing music when she was at a standstill. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for Lexi’s sisters books. This was an excellent start to a new series.
