Gabriella

It was supposed to be simple—drink tequila, forget about the life I’m running away from and have one wild night. That’s exactly what my next-door neighbor, Aubrey, told me to do.

That’s when I met him—the arrogant Aussie.

It’s easy to forget a night with a stranger until that stranger is living next door.

Oliver

If it wasn’t for my horrific motorbike accident, I’d still be playing soccer. Instead, I’m crashing at my mate Chance’s place with no clue where my life is heading.

I needed an escape while I got my head together.
But it was never supposed to be with her—the girl next door. The rich heiress arranged to be married to some wealthy snob, and I was the arrogant Aussie who didn’t care about anyone but myself.

She couldn’t have been more wrong.
Gabriella Carmichael is a heartbreaker—the worst kind.
And I’m selfish, cocky, and won’t settle for second best.
I have to make her all mine.
There is no other choice.

Definitely enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the series!

Arrogant Aussie gave me joy. Even if it was for a little bit. No idea what is going on with me today but it is definitely my reading day. In this, you will meet Gabriella and Oliver. This is kind of like a second chance at romance and I completely adored them together.

I wont lie, these two had great chemistry. Which lead to having an awesome connection to one another. There was just something about them that produce a giant spark and I was all about it. Their romance was a delight and I definitely flew through this audiobook!

The only thing I would've love is for the little tiny love triangle to not be a thing. Not a huge fan of those and it would've made the book a lot better in my eyes without that drama.

Another great story from the CHC world. Gabriella is the neighbour of Chance and Aubrey (from COCKY BASTARD) and Oliver is the Aussie soccer star who is temporarily living in their spare bedroom! Their romance was fun and flirty, but not without its problems. While I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, I found the storyline to be a little predictable in parts.

Gabriellas loyalties to her family have her facing a marriage she doesn’t want and is on a much needed break from everything when she meets Oliver and there first meeting isn’t the best lol but when they find out getting away from each other isn't as easy as leaving a bar much more transpires.

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

This was such an amazing addition to the Cocky Hero Club world. I really loved seeing Chance, Aubrey, and Pixy again. I really loved that they played such a big part in the story.

I haven't read this author before now but she is definitely on my radar now. I fell in love with her storytelling immediately. The story had such an easy flow and I felt so at home with the narration. I liked that there were twists in the story that I didn't see coming. The book certainly kept me addicted to the pages.

Gabriella and Oliver were such great characters. I felt an instant connection with both of them. They were both likable and relatable. I liked how they both had so much depth. I loved watching their character growth throughout the story. The secondary characters were such a delight in this book. They really added a lot of depth to the story.

I liked how the romance in this book didn't exactly play out the way the reader expects. I really loved the journey. Gabriella and Oliver had electric chemistry that played out beautifully within the pages. They had excellent banter and the flirting was exciting and fun. I loved the way their love story played out.

Overall, this was such a fun and entertaining story that had me captivated. It has a compelling storyline, memorable characters, and a romance that you can't help but root for. I am loving the Cocky Hero Club books and I can't wait for the next one!

Arrogant Aussie is a story that started well for me, but the more I read the less I enjoyed it. In fact, this started out as a high star rating only for me to find it extremely difficult to finish.

I think my problem with this one was that it included too many things I’m not crazy about. It had the potential to be a story that hit hard, but I slowly found myself disliking the details that were introduced. From the way it felt like a love triangle at times to the back-and-forth of the characters, I found myself disinterested rather than hooked.

I’m sure many will enjoy this one, but it didn’t work for me.

Don't have much to say about this because the story is pretty meh

Gabriella wanted out from her stuck up , rich , traditional family and so she run away and then she met Arrogant Aussie Oliver. They fell in love and then Gabriella is force to marry Sebastian. Gabriella went cold feet and run back to Oliver again.

Arrogant Aussie - Kat T Masen
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great addition to the Cocky Hero World!

Any story by Kat T Masen is a must read for me as this author’s irreverent style always shines through.
Oliver Madden is definitely no exception to this rule.
This cocky Aussie soccer star let’s his arrogance play out all to well with Gabriella Carmichael but they are a great match even with Gabriella’s privileged background seemingly placing her outside of Oliver’s reach.
Gabriella is a refreshing change from the usual pampered princess types, with the kind of family background reserved for the privileged few. Her dogged determination to stretch herself and step outside her boundaries only endears her more to me as a reader.
Overall this story ties in very neatly to the Cocky Hero World with quality connections through Chance and Aubrey and it was great to have them so involved in the story.

Kat T Masen has definitely delivered on a fun, sassy and often swoon worthy story that will make you want even more from the Cocky Hero World.

This book started so sweet and at the beginning I liked it a lot, but towards the end it all started falling apart for me. Some things that happened didn’t make any sense at all. It's not that I hated the characters I just couldn’t connect with them or understand why they were so attracted to each other when I couldn’t feel any chemistry between them. I didn’t believe in their love or understand why they had to be together.
Arrogant Aussie was a light, sweet and interesting read, there is nothing about this book that I hated, it just wasn’t for me.

Oliver is a sexy and successful Australian soccer star who is facing the fact that his career may be at an end. He is in the US trying to heal and recuperate both physically and emotionally from a serious accident however Gabriella is a challenge he wasn’t expecting.

Gabriella comes from an affluent background and finds herself fulfilling the dreams her parents have for her rather than her dreams for the future. She is hoping that the physical distance from her family will give her the clarity she needs to face her future.

Their first meeting the sparks of antagonism flew, and they weren’t expecting to see each other again so finding out they are neighbors could either be the best thing to happen to them or the worst. They both find themselves at a crossroads at their life and only they can decide if their paths are meant to merge or diverge.

Another good installment to the Cocky Hero Collection and I love how it stems from Chance and Aubrey's story because I absolutely love them and Australia and was super excited to see this by a new to me author as well! Gabriella and Oliver are two COMPLETE opposites, but have MAJOR chemistry. The author did a great job with the story and the entire book was sweet, fun, and full of major steam. If you are looking for a book that fits those requirements, I totally recommend checking it out and give it 4 outta 5 stars and really enjoyed it!

PS: Thank you to Kat T. Masen, Cocky Hero Club, and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.

Arrogant Aussie by Kat T. Masen is a part of the Cocky Hero Club Series, but can be a standalone book if you wish to do so. This is the story of Oliver Madden and Gabriella Carmichael. Although both Oliver and Gabriella are very different they both have come to a point in their life where they have a major life changing thing that is happening and both have to take a break to gather their thoughts. For Gabriella she is the pampered women whose is being pushed into a marriage by her family. Oliver is the famous soccer player who had a terrible accident that has left him unable to play anymore. Now he is just taking time to heal and figure out how to go on. Enjoyed their story.

This one was really cute. I’m totally loving this Cocky Hero Club world. Olly and Gabby come from very different worlds but they were perfect together. Olly is trying to overcome a severe injury and Gabby has managed to take a break from her oppressive family and the man her father wants her to marry. They have an instant attraction and it’s a bit of insta love over the next couple of weeks but then things change and a bit of angst comes into play. But it was just enough and I enjoyed how everything worked out. The epilogue was perfect and that bonus scene with Pixie was too funny.

Not gonna lie, I tend to have a love/hate relationship with Kat Masen books; usually because her characters are just frustrating enough that I want to reach through my e-reader and shake the holy hell out of them lol. It took me a bit to get into this story, but once I stopped letting life get in my way, I really enjoyed this story. There were still moments in the story that left me shaking my head (like the moment between Gabby and Olly in Colorado). I liked that there was a true friendship that developed between these two that slowly morphed into something more, and the epilogue was fantastic.

Oliver and Gabriella...they are interesting main characters. Their attitudes toward each other are off-putting even being drawn toward the other, but I think that's what I like most about this story. They each have some pretty major life-changing issues to try to deal with. Who in their right mind would be in their right mind lol during something like that? I like that they're not perfect, they're snarky, but they've also got great chemistry. And I loved the ending. I recommend giving this a read!

Arrogant Aussie takes us for a visit with a few of our favourites from Cocky Bastard. Oliver and Gabriella’s story is flirty, fun, entertaining but is also filled with drama and angst. The first part of their story had me struggling with a connection to these two, however as I moved into the second half, the emotions and chemistry took hold. An enjoyable addition to this series.

Rating: 3 stars for the quality of what I did read, but DNF - lost interest (it's not you, it's me)

The story: The h is an Old Money socialite/heiress who is taking a break from her “normal” life and the arranged engagement to her childhood friend, who she looks at as more of a dear brother. The H is an Australian footballer, who is keeping a low profile visiting an old friend/ex-teammate(?) while he recovers from a shoulder injury. The h/H initially clash when they meet at a bar one night (the h is a schmammered train wreck), and the next day they discover that they’re next door neighbors. They are equally annoyed by and intrigued with each other, and a tentative friendship/romance begins.

My thoughts:
I initially started this with the audiobook, but the male narration was so bad and distracting that I DNF’d it and downloaded the eBook instead. His delivery was super stiff and awkward, and his voice was too high pitched and annoying to be the sexy, alpha, footballer that he was written to be. The snotty way he read the h’s dialogue made me want to straight up hate her, and wonder why the hell the H was intrigued by her at all... which is obviously problematic. Also, (and this is petty, I know) I may be wrong here, but he sounds more like a Kiwi than an Aussie, and I just found that distracting as well. In the past I have been unimpressed with the female narrator’s performances, but I think she actually did a fairly decent job this time, but maybe I was being less critical of her because I was just happy to get away from having the male narrator speak instead.

Audiobook aside, the story itself was ok. I had a really hard time identifying with the h, and frankly didn't have very much respect for her, since she was a 25-year-old poor little rich girl that was afraid to be cut off from daddy's money, instead of literally growing the fuck up and (using her ivy league college degree to) get a job like everyone else. The H was fine, but I highly doubt that an international football star wouldn't have a dedicated team specifically assigned to get him past his injury and back on to the field. In general, the writing was good, but between not buying into the h, and personally being in a bit of a Contemporary book funk, I ended up doing a lot of skimming after about 33%. DNF'd somewhere around 50%.

Heat Level: Tame to the point that I read, but with promises of a payoff later in the book.

Would I read more from this author: Yes

You know what I love most about reading the books in the 'Cocky Hero Club' being introduced to new writers and Kat T Masen was worth finding!

Arrogant Aussie has just the right amount of , romance, heartache, comedy, a decent storyline and even that all important bit when you shout at a book 'Girl I can't believe that you just did that' and you shake your head a couple of times! But what I loved most about this book is we got to spend sometime with Aubrey, Chance, CJ and of course my friend Pixie (who doesn't really like our Arrogant Aussie)!

Gabriella has run away to a house next door to Aubrey and Chance in Hermosa Beach outside of LA. She has run away from her controlling family who have set up an arranged marriage - this is what all her life has been about getting her ready for marriage to someone she classes more as a friend than a boyfriend. Gabriella doesn't have to work all her credit cards, car etc are all owned by her father - her one outlet has been her charity event work but her father sees that just as something to make the family look good but it means so much more to Gabriella. She needs to clear her head and decide what she really wants - what she wasn't expecting was to be living next door to Arrogant Aussie
Oliver Madden Australia's highest paid soccer star - well he was until an accident has left him wondering if he will ever play soccer again.

Oliver comes across to LA to lick his wounds and to see if their is anyway he can get back to the fitness he needs to compete again. What he wasn't expecting when staying with his friend Chance was the woman next door - the same one he meet the night before!

Being in Hermosa Beach Oliver and Gabriella for awhile are in their own little bubble the outside world can stay their - the banter between the two is really good and as the two get to know each other they share their fears for the future. But what happens when their time at Hermosa Beach ends? Well for Gabriella back to the world of dinner parties and preparing for a wedding unless she can stand up to her father and for Oliver it is finding a way of returning to his passion soccer!

It is going to take a miracle and awhile for Gabriella and Oliver to be together as heartache and betrayal is just around the corner!

Gabriella Carmichael is almost engaged to a man she doesn’t love, but because of family pressures, she feels like she has no choice but to go through with the wedding. Gabby decides to take a month off to get away from family and engagement issues, and rents a little bungalow next door to Chase and Aubrey in California, leaving her parents and 'fiancé' behind in Colorado. Oliver Madden is recovering from a motorcycle accident, and is unable to play professional soccer for his team in Sydney, Australia while he heals. He’s lucky that he wasn’t hurt worse, but he’s focused on the things he’s missing: the life and the career he had been enjoying. He’s not in a good place emotionally. He is staying with Chase while he recovers, and attending appointments with specialists, hoping they can get him back into the game. Gabby and Ollie meet one night at a bar, and she thinks he’s arrogant and is using a fake Australian accent, and he thinks she is drunk and rude. The very next day, they discover that they are next-door neighbors, when they are both invited to a BBQ at Chase and Aubrey’s.

Both of these characters have a lot of pride. They find it hard to bend when needed, and it causes them trouble at times. They each have issues that they are dealing with. The conflicts are clear, and they navigate them both successfully and unsuccessfully at different times. The sudden mood shifts are slightly off-putting, but somewhat understandable because of the serious issues they are facing. The story is told from each main character’s point of view, and it is interesting to watch events unfold from the two different perspectives. There are a couple of twists thrown in toward the end of the book, and they redeem the book greatly. I wasn’t thrilled with Oliver for much of the book and Gabbie’s behavior isn’t that great either, until she straightens her spine and fights for what she wants. The ending is delightful and leaves the reader with a smile. It also makes one realize that the mark of a good writer is to make the reader feel…and Ms. Masen does this well in this book.

Kat's perfect Cocky Hero Club addition

ARROGANT AUSSIE
was superb. Kat T. Masen's story is the perfect addition to the Cocky Hero Club world. If you haven't read any of Kat's other work before, this is the perfect introduction. She doesn't hold back with her words at all. She has included everything in it: angst, comedy, heartache, romance, love, and some wonderful characters you'll never want to let go of.

Oliver Madden is definitely one arrogant Aussie. Oliver is a professional soccer player, who recently survived a near fatal motorcycle accident. He has gone to America to spend some time recovering, while there he is staying with his friends Chance and Aubrey. He's grumpy, disheartened and frustrated as soccer is all that he has lived for, his dream, his love ... until he meets Chance's temporary next-door neighbour.

Gabriella Carmichael is a pampered princess who come from an extremely privileged family. She has never wanted for anything. Engaged to a man she doesn't love; she decides to take a month's break away from her 'fiancé' and her family to get away from the pressure she is under. She wants to 'live life' before her life is taken over. What she wasn't expecting was Oliver to walk in and change everything.

From the moment they meet, Oliver and Gabriella re at loggerheads with one another. They have the perfect love/hate relationship. Even though they do enjoy each other's company, the sparring and banter between them is what makes this duo shine. Oliver gives Gabriella the confidence to start believing in herself and her dreams, while she enables him to see that there are other things just as important as soccer and himself. Both of them had some tough decisions to make, but did they make the right ones? Together they are perfectly messy, apart they are a devastating mess!!!

Kat definitely left me on edge right to the very end. There were a couple of huge twists in the latter half of the book that explained why Gabriella was treated in the way that she was. I loved that Chance and Aubrey (from COCKY BASTARD) played such a big part in this story and were such wonderful friends to both Oliver and Gabriella. I can't forget Pixie, the goat, and his amusing effect on Oliver.

Such a great read from Kat, she never lets me down. Her humour and her attitude definitely are at the forefront in ARROGANT AUSSIE.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Oliver and Gabriella were two very different people both struggling with life choices. Gabriella always felt like an outsider in her family but she just tried to go with it. But she didn't want to be forced to marry someone she didn't love and become a trophy wife. She wanted her life to have a purpose. So she takes a month away from her family and home in Colorado to live life in Hermosa Beach, CA. She happens to be staying next door to our beloved Chance, Aubrey, CJ & Pixie. She also meets Oliver. He is the definition of arrogant. But there is just something about him that she is drawn to.

Oliver is visiting his friend Chance as he heals from a motorcycle accident. He is doing his physical therapy with the hopes that he can return to the soccer field one day. But in the meantime, he becomes close with Gabriella and he just loves getting under her skin. They become friends first but their sexual tension keeps building and you just know that eventually it will erupt.

I really loved how these two became friends who were obviously attracted to each other. But Gabriella really needed time to figure out her life. She hated to walk away from her family as well as Oliver. She truly didn't know what to do and how to begin living her life without family support/money. There were times I wanted to dive into the book and shake some sense into her but I knew that she would figure out where her life should be and she definitely needed to make that journey on her own. Oliver had his moments where he was just mean to her but underneath it all, he truly cared for her and was afraid of getting hurt.

These two had a very bumpy road but the journey was definitely worth it.

Arrogant Aussie is a great read. I really enjoyed spending time with Gabriella and Oliver plus it is always a pleasure to be back in the company of Chance, Aubrey, CJ and Pixy.

I love Oliver. He has a great personality even if he does show his arrogant side at times. My heart ached for him when I learned why he was in the States and I sincerely hoped that he would be able to get his life back on track and realise his dreams.

For all Gabriella’s upbringing is a galaxy away from my own, I could understand what she was going through and the reasons why she found it so difficult to turn her back on all she has ever known. Making life changing decisions is never easy and I hoped that she would find the strength to stand up for what she wanted.

I loved witnessing Oliver and Gabriella together. Although I did struggle at times to make sense of the connection that they had. I felt their declarations were a little premature bearing in mind some of their encounters but I guess this added to the mystery of ‘will they, won’t they’ as I was never certain if they would find their HEAs together in the end.

I’m absolutely loving the Cocky Hero Club books that are being written and I would certainly recommend that you read Arrogant Aussie which I award 3.5 stars. I loved how the book made me feel whilst reading it, the later scenes being my favourites in all honesty. I certainly hope that this isn’t the last that we see of Gabriella and Oliver.

When I read the blurb of the this book, it got me super excited. Who doesn’t love an Aussie (sexy I know) and a girl running away from an arranged marriage? I thought it would be fun and it truly was! I had a good time reading this story. Also I’m adoring all the books with Chance, Aubrey, CJ and Pixy, the fainting goat!

Oliver Madden is this a pro soccer player in Australia who got seriously injured in a motorcycle crash. He heads to America to recover and stay with friends, Chance and Aubrey. Gabriella Carmichael is promised to marry a man she doesn’t love by her family. Seriously does it still exist? Running away from this for a month, she head to California and rent a place next door to Chance and Aubrey.

When Oliver and Gabriella meet one another, they dislike instantly. Their enemies to lovers vibe was super funny and they always loved giving each other a hard time. But as they progressed I enjoy how they tried to help each other to grow, work and overcome their deep issues.

I just wish that Gabriella had grown a back bone early, girl, take the wheels of your life! And as much I liked Oliver, sometimes I felt difficult to relate to him. But all in all, I was surprised with the twist in the end and I liked the ending. This is a story with angst, love, laughs and romance as the couple tried to conquer the world.

Masen has been on my to read list for a long time so I was excited to read Arrogant Aussie and find out how talented this author is.

Masen ticks all the boxes for what I like in a story. There is good mix of heartbreak, steamy and a storyline that makes sense . It needs to be given that fits in the world we all adore. Gabriella is trying to make life on her own terms after being forced into a situation she wanted nothing to do with . Happily now living now next door to Chance and Aubrey.

She wants to clear her head and figure out her next life now that she gotten out of the situation. However life has other ideas when Oliver come crashing into her life and changes things once again made her question her next move.

In a bubble, Gabriella and Oliver try to figure out life and how they can make their next moves work for them. Both of them have issues they are trying to deal with which makes them weak

Their moods are not always pleasant and that makes this story so relatable. They are trying to work on their problems and they get tangled with each other thanks to life giving them plenty of opportunities. It’s not smooth sailing and it makes all the arrogance worth it. This story is perfectly summed what some people think s about Aussies and how Aussie guys can be so more than just Arrogant

I loved everything about “Arrogant Aussie.” Kat T. Masen was a new author to me and she did an excellent job weaving the romance of Gabriella and Oliver with fan favorites Chance and Aubrey, from “Cocky Bastard.” It felt as if the two couples had known each other forever, and their friendship brought happiness and joy to me at a time when I needed it the most.

I felt so bad for Gabriella because she had been “promised” to a man that her father had chosen for her. How ridiculous was that? Her escape to the west coast was just what she needed to clear her mind. Gabriella was so happy in California and I could practically hear the wistfulness in her voice as she gazed at the beautiful beach, the calming ocean and the sunny, blue sky. She had become close friends with Chance and Aubrey and she loved their son CJ, and of course, Pixy, the fainting goat. Chance and Aubrey are a fun-loving couple who opened their hearts and home to Gabriella and Oliver. This was the perfect setting for the storybook romance of a sexy soccer player and the runaway heiress. The witty banter between Gabriella and Oliver was hilarious and they loved giving each a hard time. They helped each other let go of their pasts so they could plan for the future. Their journey to love and happiness made me laugh, smile and believe that fairy tales do come true.

Almost engaged, and swimming in a swirling sea of familial pressure, Gabriella Carmichael is hiding out in LA for a month, trying to figure out her life. On a night out, she meets almost ex-soccer player, Oliver Madden. The interaction is not fully pleasant, but is unforgettable for them both. The two quickly find out that they are going to see more of each other whether they like it or not as they live next door to each other. Even ass their tempers flare, an unlikely friendship develops, leaving them wondering which next step is the best to avoid heartbreak.

I enjoyed this offering in the Cocky Hero Club world. Gabriella is cast as a different sort of heroine - not the usual whiny, pampered rich girl. Her restless desire to be more & give more is quite refreshing. Oliver, with his cocky persona & sharp humor is great complement, pushing "Gabs" to think about what's really important. His grumpy arrogance slowly dissipates as he comes to recognise how important love is.

I enjoyed meeting up with Chance and Aubrey again. And Pixy was still a big hit. I recommend this read.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
