I eat, sleep, and breathe her.
One day, she slips up and I have my in.
At long last, I can own her.
She's mine to punish and to pleasure.
I don't care if I lose my job as a tenured professor over her.
I don't care if I destroy my life or hers.
I'm obsessed and she doesn't know it yet, but I'm never letting her go.

"Sometimes monsters can be heroes too"
Obsessed charts the story of Professor Nicholas Maclean and Phoebe Whitehouse, his obsession.
Phoebe is a student who is struggling just to get by. She works two jobs whilst finishing her college degree.
With an alcoholic irresponsible mother, she willingly takes on the care of her young baby brother. The only help she gets is from her elderly neighbour Enid.
Nicholas is Phoebe's Professor who unbeknown to her has been stalking her for years.
He constantly belittles her in class. When she, through desperation, slips up, he then has a hold over her, which turns s3xual.
As the story progresses, we get a better understandi of Nicholas' behaviour due to trauma in his past, and find out how his obsession began.
Nicholas and Phoebe have both suffered so much heartache in their lives.
Phoebe is such a selfless, resilient character, with so much inner strength. Nicholas is the wounded hero, who struggled to come to terms with his past.
Together these two fractured souls grow and in time heal each other and become whole.
The steam level is scorchio!!
This updated, extended version of the previously release The Professor, adds so much depth to the story. The scenes are super spicy, and I couldn't help but fall for the flawed Professor.
*** Please heed the Trigger Warnings This is a Bully romance ***
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 October 2022Student/ teacher isn’t something that I’ve read much of but this book was at the top of my TBR since I adore Serena Akeroyds writing. Nicholas is the perfect amount dark, obsessive and possessive. This book has a few trigger warnings that you should definitely check before you dive in.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 September 2022Wow , this book was amazing.
If you love a taboo , age gap romance then this book is for you.
Nicholas is not my typical go to Hero but wow did i fall for him hard.
He is Phoebe's Professor and he loves to stalk /protect her from afar.
There relationship is like nothing I've read before and i loved it.
This book was incredible and i loved every second.
It had me hooked from the very first page and i didn't want it to end.
I would definitely recommend this book.
It's a must if you love a hot , possessive guy who will do anything to get what he wants.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 January 2023Started off well, good premise etc im all for a taboo, however I wasn't a fan of the 50/50 pov. Don't misunderstand, I love dual pov, I don't however, love reading one side for 50 percent and the other side for the next 40 percent, just to then alternate, which by the way, I just got bored by then. I feel like it dragged somewhere in between his monotone sentences in his office and her confusion of why he turned her on despite barely giving anything other than an ear now and then (insert the biggest cliche and eye roll), im sorry, I am, because I'm all for things not being predictable, but I just didn't see too much of a relationship development, it just went from like, 10 ish to 60 simply because of the forced proximity, that somehow flat lined the further along it got for me personally, it wasn't all bad and the one bit of comedy in there, I'd say, came from the moments where he mentioned scottie after they moved in but that was scarce too, infact, I think that's one of my other problems with this, there wasn't much personality from either of them except their own woes, lust and then happiness. Just didn't end up scratching the itch yano? Having said that, this wasn't a bad book by any means and would make do for more of an easy read if you're coming off a book hangover or want something quick
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 December 2022I enjoyed reading this not knowing how the story was going to pan out and not having the story from the Professor's POV until the second half of the book. The grief and hardship, resilience and love laced throughout the story kept me engaged. The characters came to life and I'm glad they got their happy ending. I highly recommend this story and look forward to the next.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 September 2022When is a villain not a villain?
It only took a single chapter for me to realise is read this story in its previous format (maybe if I'd read the blurb I'd have known sooner?) but it was long enough ago that I couldn't separate the old from the new.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 September 2022I absolutely loved The Professor and this much expanded version is icing on top of the cake.
Obsessed tells the story of Professor Nicholas Maclean who is obsessed with his student Phoebe Whitehouse. There are may dark elements in this book (child neglect, alcohol abuse, stalking and dub con), so its not for the faint hearted on those that these topics will upset.
Nicholas is the very definition of red flags, but despite the way the relationship starts between the main characters, we ultimately understand why he is the way he is. If you love a taboo, age gap romance then this book is for you. The level of steam is off the charts.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 October 2022Obsessed is a teacher/student, age gap stalker romance. It was previously released as The Professor but much to my delight has now been extended. It includes so much more, I love it! I just couldn’t put it down. Nicholas and Phoebe's relationship is dark and taboo. Brilliantly written. 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Obsessed, to be sure!
I did not know Serena Akeroyd's body of work until I received a recommendation from my Discord Book Club to start reading Obsessed. So Serena Akeroyd is now my Obsession!
Obsessed is a brilliant, dark, full-of-triggers, sexual bullying, alcoholism, child neglect, infant death, spousal abuse romance with a HEA for readers seeking true-to-life lessons, redemption, and peace. Joe Arden and Lessa Lamb bring to life the story of Nicholas Maclean and Phoebe Whitehouse, two twisted souls searching for a light to shine on their tortuous lives. The exceptional narration enhances Ms. Akeroyd's Obsessed world.
Words are weapons, and sometimes monsters can be heroes too.
Their relationship is preternatural, and Nicholas compares it to a Yayoi Kasuma painting.
NSFW Chapter 25 will have you breathless with the mere instruction of "on your back." Chapter 32 will make you rethink your college graduation celebratory dinner.
Ms. Akeroyd's visuals of New York City streets are reminiscent of Jonathan Lemkin's adaptation of Andrew Neiderman's The Devil's Advocate. As her bucolic farm life in France reminds us of Peter Mayle's A Good Year, directed by Ridley Scott.
I wholeheartedly recommend that ESL readers embark on immersion reading. Immersion Reading takes you deeper into the story and the world created by the author. This functionality allows you to read a Kindle eBook and listen to its professionally narrated Audible companion Audiobook – simultaneously. In addition, you get the benefit of real-time highlighting, making Immersion Reading a valuable tool to boost reading comprehension and overall content retention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous love story told so perfectly
Obsessed was definitely way more than what I thought it would be. A forbidden relationship that springs up between a professor and his student. All the stirrings of a person who follows her every move, justifying it by telling himself he is protecting one of them but who?
A professor, Nicholas Maclean, falls for his student, Phoebe Whitehouse, arranging one job where he can watch over her while catching her in a precarious position when he sees her with her hand in the till at a second job. He makes her report to his office after class and "perform" for him on his desk in exchange for his silence. This performance occurs more than once, with him never laying a finger on her, each time easier than the time before. What happens between them slowly morphs into a totally different type of consensual encounter. No feelings are involved until nothing makes sense between them. She suddenly needs an escape for herself and her baby brother and Maclean offers them the use of his place as a refuge. Phoebe loads up their meager belongings, she and Scottie hop in a cab from the poor side of town to the affluent address. No matter how hard Maclean tries to guard his heart, the two become more important to him than he could have ever believed. Unfortunately his past interferes in more than one way but will it bring the two together or tear them apart?
This book was previously titled The Professor and has been reworked. The additions have enhanced the story and brought it forward to encapsulate so much more between Phoebe and Nicholas. A fabulous love story told so perfectly.
Audible Review:
Joe Arden and Lessa Lamb make listening to Obsessed a whole new experience! Joe's gravelly growl just makes Nicholas the best voice ever and made me melt into a pile of goo I had full body shivers listening to him. Holy hotness overload!!! Lessa made Phoebe come alive and it felt like she was someone I wanted to have as my friend. These two voices made the book the ultimate listening sensation. I'll be playing this on repeat for a long time to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forbidden romance
A different spin on the teacher student Forbidden romance and this was almost sweet even if Nicholas was a stalker. He had good intentions (mostly) and it was steamy as always from a Ms Akeroyd book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yeah I ended up Obsessed too.
Bully Romance, Student / Teacher, and Age Gap. HOT Alphahole Professor with “doesn’t know just how pretty she is” sunshine college senior…I mean honestly what else is there to say? Obsessed? YEP.
So I will say check your trigger warnings friends, safety first.
⚠️Bully Romance
⚠️Slightly Dub Con
⚠️Stalker Vibes
⚠️mild mentions of child neglect (past and previous)
⚠️Alcohol abuse
Obsessed is the story of a Professor and his obsession for a student of his. For years he has been stalking her, slowly attaching strings to her life that will keep her with him all without her knowing. Nicholas is man that has become dark, twisted, and broken carrying the scars of his past around. He spotted Phoebe on the college campus and instantly his obsession began.
“𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑖𝑡 𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 ℎ𝑖𝑑𝑑𝑒𝑛 𝑏𝑒ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑎 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚”
I actually really enjoyed how the author wrote and broke up this story. We start with The End, beginning through the eyes of our FMC Phoebe. Through her eyes we see the world she lives in, the struggles she has, and we meet the dreaded professor. Then in the middle after specific events, we read our story through Nicholas’s eyes.
Both MC’s are tragically broken honestly, for different reasons, but it lends to their draw to each other. It is easy to hate the professor in the beginning, and even through the middle. I mean it IS a bully romance, but the character growth is great.
The connection and chemistry between Nicholas and Phoebe is so tangible. I mean there were even moments I felt Phoebe’s awkwardness as her obsession grew in reverse.
Now throw in some ANGST….what is but isn’t slow burn (see angst), and then some pretty hot spicy scenes and you can call me obsessed too.
**Audiobook Review**
This audiobook was everything I wanted and more for this story. This was my first audiobook by Lessa Lamb and she did such a great job, I cannot wait to hear more by her. While not my first book by Joe Arden, it was my first book like THIS by Joe Arden.
Both Joe and Lessa do such a wonderful job bringing to life Phoebe and Nicholas. The emotion they convey as each character just elevated the story so much.
And those spicy scenes.....Joe has a voice for dark romance and I for one want more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Respect to Phoebe
Phoebe deserves all my respect. She's managed to get herself a scholarship to an ivy-league school, while working two jobs and supporting her alcoholic mother and her baby brother. Imagine living a life soo tough where having someone stalk you, becomes an actual lifeline....
This book has:
➡️ student/teacher trope
➡️ dual POV
➡️ a curvy h
➡️ triggers such as stalking, dv and loss so check ⚠️
I'm all for an obsessive stalker. I guess you could say they are one of my favourite kind of fictional man. I don't think there's a rule on how to stalk someone and I won't judge the way someone stalks another person (you do you boo) but I guess I was expecting something a little darker? Though, this is probably more of a reflection on me and my kinky arse than anything to do with the author 🤣🤣 (send me someone's head in a box because they looked at me? no? just me? ok).
I know I was suppose to probably love the relationship between Phoebe and Nicholas but the real love, the connection I enjoyed reading most was between Phoebe and her baby brother Scotty. As someone who had to help with their younger siblings growing up, I felt this.
Of the many books I've read from Ackeroyd, I think this was my first stand alone!
3.5 ⭐️
