About the author

Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn't stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she reads any book she can get her hands on and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.
She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.

- Reviewed in Australia on 18 February 2018Verified PurchaseThe plot of this story felt fresh and unique. Noelle Adams once again proves why she is a firm favourite of mine. Be warned it was a bit more sexualised than I’ve previously read by Noelle before but there is plenty to love about this hot, sexy story...
‘Second Best’ is the story of a series of one night hook-ups between two unique characters - Ashley and Sean and neither are interested in anything more than that.
Ash is a 28 year old lawyer who is in love with her coworker. While Sean is a 38 year old real estate mogul and a client. So while Ashley is pining for a man who barely acknowledges her existence and Sean is suffering from the loss of his deceased fiancée, they decide to sleep together every Wednesday.
From the beginning it was just sex and nothing more however in each chapter Sean unveils a new piece of himself. He made the story for me, he was so caring, understanding and thoughtful while still being a little mysterious. He has been through a lot in his life and is dealing with things the best way he knows how.
I loved seeing Ashley and Sean's relationship develop while they deal with the things holding them back. The sex scenes were done really well - steamy but not OTT. I just adored the epilogue to me it really completed the story and gave us a glimpse into their future. A 5 star read!!

- Reviewed in Australia on 26 May 2018Verified Purchase5+ Stars. I loved, loved, loved this book. It was so centered on the characters and their feelings without a lot of outside drama. It is told in one person point of view by the lead character. A very well written and heart warming story.
- Reviewed in Australia on 18 November 2017I’m not alone when I say that I love anything that Noelle Adams writes.
This was to be bi-monthly through the newsletter for subscribers, we were told, no plot outline, just raw and unedited. And we were invested. Just as Ashely and Sean were invested in their meeting every other Wednesday at an expensive hotel. No contact in between, no expectations.
Told in the first person by Ashley, a real estate attorney, she is attracted into a contracted affair with Sean Doyle, a self-made real estate mogul who had suffered an unimaginable personal tragedy. Neither of them are interested in anything other than a physical affair. Sean had experienced love, and had it taken from him, while Ashley is otherwise wanting to get to know the man at her firm who she feels she is really in love with.
The chemistry is off the charts explosive – seriously! This is making second best work for both of them.
That is until they started getting to know each other on a deeper level, and it became harder to keep the context of the original contract in mind, and as things began to develop between Ashley and Sean, WE became more invested, begging and pleading Noelle for more. She listened, and we began stalking our emails more often, eager for the next instalment. Noelle was writing faster, in the car and on holiday – and, although we didn’t want it to end, we just couldn’t wait to see how things worked out for Ashley and Sean.
As a series, it was hot, hot, hot. As a book – it is SCORCHING! I had to have my own e-book, and I’m also getting this 5-star puppy in paperback!
- Reviewed in Australia on 25 November 2017This is the first book that I’ve read by Noelle Adams and it certainly won’t be the last. I absolutely loved it. In this book we meet a girl called Ashley, she’s madly in love with a guy from her work called John Cooper, sadly John doesn’t know she exists. She meets Sean Doyle, he’s a hot sexy guy, but definitely not your commitment type of guy. They make a deal. They meet every 2nd Wednesday night at a hotel down town. They have no dates. They have no communication between their fortnightly meetings. They make no other commitments. There are no heart or flower. It’s just meeting fortnightly for a night of “passion”. Ash know’s about Sean’s past and why he only has this type of relationship. It suits her fine. She know’s she his second best. Can she ever become his best? What happens when John Cooper finally notices her? How will Ashley react? How will Sean react? Will second best be best after all? This was a lovely story with a few suprising events.
- Reviewed in Australia on 22 November 2017This is the first book I have read by Noelle Adams and I loved every word.
I loved the no nonsense approach between Ashley and Sean; the arrangement was that there was just to be sex, on every second Wednesday, in a hotel, with no feelings and no attachment. The feelings I got as I read about their relationship evolving and you can feel their feelings yourself. That's great writing.
I love the idea that two people think they can make an arrangement and not be affected as time goes on; it made for a great suspense. Who's going to fall first? Is it just going to be an arrangement until someone better becomes available? So many questions were running through my brain as I was reading. I was there in that hotel room with them and watched them bloom. I felt their emotions come through and soaked up every word.
This is an author I will be looking to read more from in in the future.
A Book Lover's Emporium.

My arse got sore sitting on top of a ladder as I had to finish a chapter.
Thank you
- Reviewed in Australia on 7 March 2021Verified PurchaseI wasn't expecting the emotions that this adorable story brought me.
City lawyer Ashley has two men in her life. One she has loved from afar and the man she meets every second Wednesday evening for no-strings sex.
Property developer Sean Doyle has made a water-tight contracted arrangement with Ashley. He first proposed it after the conclusion of their business. They just have these two Wednesday nights each month. No personal stuff, no questions, no expectations.
This story follows the weeks and months as the two lovers discover immense pleasure in one another, while feeling the constraints of their agreement.
I loved this story so much and the ending was awesome.
Thank you Noelle Adams for a beautiful story.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!
Verified PurchaseOn the face of it, this book is a sexy romance with likeable, realistic characters and a strong plot and it is a great read. But it goes deeper than that as it also examines what it really means to be in a relationship with someone. I loved the part where Ash talks about why her romance with John failed because he didn't really see her, he only thought about her in relation to himself. I hear you! Her relationship with Sean contrasts with that that beautifully. I found it very touching.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best not second best
Verified PurchaseBeautifully written. A simple love affair which turn out to be exceptional. That's what I can say about it. The narrative is well-done. Everything revolves around the main characters. Emotions and sentiments show through the pages. And that's how Noelle A. went all over the story and bring the readers to make the story theirs.
I'm glad I did not let the negatives ratings sway me and picked this book.
Well-done Noelle Adams!

5.0 out of 5 stars Deeply moving
Verified PurchaseI've read this book years ago, but I'm only now writing a review. The characters were so engaging and their conflict was not too harsh. The story was written in the first person from the heroine's viewpoint but that didn't affect the telling of tale. The intimate scenes were hot but not tasteless.
Ashley and Sean made an arrangement to meet at a hotel every two weeks but soon they wanted to see each other more frequently. Ashley was braver than Sean in many ways and initiated the emotionally difficult discussions. The character development for both H and h was quite believable. Their arrival at the hea was deeply moving. I can read this story over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it !
Verified PurchaseI have to say that Noelle Adams is one of my all time favorite authors. I don't think that I have read anything by her that I have not liked. This book was no different. It grabbed me from the very first page and I was hooked until the end. Chapter after chapter I could not get enough. Sean was still grieving over the loss of someone he loved. Ashley was in love with someone that did not even really see her. They were brought together when they meant in a meeting one day. Sean proposes a contract which states this is a no strings attached relationship where they meet every other Wednesday at the same hotel and the same room. Ashley agrees to his contract. We all no that there really is no such thing as a no strings relationship. Relationship have feelings and can get to be so messy. This book has it all. I can honestly tell you that you will not be disappointed with this book. It is amazing from start to finish.
