Graduating from college is bittersweet. I’ve accomplished my dreams, obtained my teaching degree, and am ready to find my dream job. However, I never realized how difficult or stressful it would be to find a position.
That’s why I jump at the chance to visit Chad, one of my best friends, on base in California.
It was meant to be two weeks of catching up and putting all thoughts of job hunting out of my mind. Little did I know those two weeks would change my life and alter the course we were both on.

A lovely and heartwarming romance read.
The writing was beautiful, it touched my heart, Ford and Shayne were amazing characters - especially 💗Ford💗.
While I am not a great fan of insta love, the one that was developed between the main characters, was filled with emotions, however I wasn’t that thrilled.
The way Ford was portrayed didn’t reflect his 21 years of age. He was unbelievably mature being so young and I wasn’t convinced.
Lastly, the epilogue felt very poor and abrupt compared to the whole story.

OH MY HEART- this story is just the swooniest, most heartwarmingly romantic story! This story shot to the top as one of my favorites from these authors, and is hands down my favorite collaboration from them to date. Dreamy, sincere, adorable, and a breathe of fresh air-Beneath the Fallen Stars is feel good romance at its finest! I could not read it fast enough!
Not long ago, I feel in love with Kaylee’s writing thanks to a sweet new adult military romance- and oh my did this story give me all the nostalgia for one of my favorite reads of all time. Pull You Through fans will simply adore this story- but it’s fresh and unique, too.
Our heroine Shayne is so relatable - a small town girl with an unfair reputation that makes her doubt herself and others. Until she meets dreamy Ford- an army man who tags along with his buddy to visit his family. His buddy’s cousin is the hesitant but endearing bartender Shayne, and they are both immediately smitten. But Shayne has baggage, they are both young, and Ford has his own baggage- not to mention he’s only on leave for two weeks. But their love sparkles beneath the fallen stories, and they soon discover love has no timeline- and it finds you when and where you least expect it.
These two are just the SWEETEST and so endearing as characters. All the butterfly-inducing, aww creating, squishy happy feeling kind of cute. It’s the epitome of swoon. And like so many Lacey/Kaylee stories, I love how our hero is a rough and tumble army man, but he has a big beating heart on his sleeve. He’s vulnerable, emotionally available and mature, honest, and so patient and loving. And despite our heroine's painful past, she’s not bitter or closed off. She needs reassurance and generosity, and she finds that in spades with swoony Ford. Their chemistry is all heart and heat- a slower burn at first as they forge an emotional connection, one that is powerful but subtle. I loved watching them fall together- how mature they were, how they communicated and trusted, and how easily they loved, yet believably. Their relationship feels effortless and authentic- and so heartwarmingly sincere.
We have some unexpected obstacles- but ones that are handled with care. These two feel unbreakable, and I love that about this duo- how their love stories are about how couples work together to make it work, rather than letting it break them apart. It keeps the conflicts impactful but low angst- and makes the couple’s love all the more powerful and impactful. This story in particular touched my heart - and these two face the challenges beautifully and honestly. “Only in darkness can you see the stars”- and isn’t that the power of this story. THIS is how we all want to be loved and cherished- my heart is just so full.

Intense instalove
This one didn't go quite the way I was hoping, but it was a pretty adorable romance. After reading the blurb, I was really hooked on the letter-writing concept, falling in love from a distance (and that GORGEOUS cover reeled me in). It just... didn't play out the way I anticipated, lol. This is 100% instalove from the first interaction, and that is a huge, HUGE part of the story. I'm not necessarily against instalove, but there are levels of it - and this was extreme. The characters are also very young, and the book reads that way. Those are really the only drawbacks though, because the hero is the SWEETEST guy and I loved the swoony vibes. I love the idea of a sweet, strong, alpha hero who falls hard and fast... I just wish it wasn't THE focus of the book.
The story follows Ford, a 21-year-old soldier from a long line of military men. When he joined the Army after high school, it seemed like the natural thing to do. But when Ford meets a woman who catches his heart at first sight, it has him re-evaluating his plans. While he's always been a relationship guy, Ford didn't spend much time dwelling on the future - until Shayne. She is a game-changer, and spending time apart sounds like the sweetest torture. As the two fall head over heels in a matter of days, they have to navigate the complexities of their relationship while allowing it space to grow.
My favorite part of the book is definitely Ford. This team of authors knows how to write sexy, swoony men - and he is another great one. He is SUPER young and all kinds of adorable. I loved that he didn't fight his feelings, and it was so refreshing to read about a relationship guy. Shayne, eh, Shayne was fine. There was a whole part of her character that could've been developed further, but the instalove sort of took over. The instalove was a lot. This would've easily been a 4-star read for me if that had been taken down a notch. I would've needed more falling from afar and a stronger final act to consider a 5-star rating. There is some triggering content towards the end, and I'm not a big fan of the way it was handled. Mostly, this just didn't live up to the expectations that I had for it. I'm sure many readers will love the sweetness, but it wasn't a total win for me.

SPOILER-filled content warning: there are several potential triggers in Shayne's troubled past, but those are mostly glossed over. However, there is a situation at the end of the book that comes out of nowhere (loss of pregnancy). If that is a trigger for you, then you might be caught off-guard by its sudden appearance (on the page). It definitely put a damper on the sweet, light feel of the rest of the book. I personally don't think it was necessary.

5 SMOOCHES!
I’ve really enjoyed Lacey Black and Kaylee Ryan’s collaborations. These two authors have wonderful creative chemistry, and all of their co-written works have been fantastic. Their storytelling meshes together organically and naturally with seamless transitioning between these two authors. They tell these wonderful small-town based stories, about relatable and endearing characters, and I’ve gotten lost in every single one of their books.
Beneath The Fallen Stars was a completely heartwarming, heart-tugging romance. A fast-moving love story between Ford, a soldier on leave visiting his friend’s home, and his friend’s cousin, Shayne. Ford is a romantic at heart, a one-woman kind of man. He went through a bad break up, and he’s not sure he’s ever going to find love again. Shayne had a difficult childhood in her small town, and she’s been stained by the reputation of her mother. The attraction is instant between Shayne and Ford, but time isn’t on their side. Their feelings develop quickly, and this author duo takes readers on their journey as they navigate distance and circumstances.
Sweet, swoony and sexy, Beneath The Fallen Stars was a captivating, romantic love story. Lacey and Kaylee did a phenomenal blending their styles into this unputdownable story. Five smooches from me for Beneath The Fallen Stars by Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black!

This book. Oh my heart. It was full of romance, emotions and loveable characters!
Ford knew from a young age he wanted to join the Army, so he enlisted at 18. He loved serving and he met his best friend, Chad, during boot camp. Now on leave Ford and Chad are visiting Chad’s hometown and his family, who happens to include his cousin Shayne. Shayne has had a rough life and being stuck in a small town isn’t the best, but she has learned to ignore the whispers as best as she can.
There is an instant connection between Ford and Shayne. I loved everything about the two of them individually and together. Ford is super caring and protective. Shayne has walls up, but she slowly lets them down and lets Ford in. Their journey is emotional, but it is also truly beautiful. I love how easily Ford’s family accepted Shayne and instantly became a support system for her.
I’m hoping that Chad and Ford’s twin sister, Faith, get a book next! I’m dying to know more about them and of course, get more of Ford and Shayne.
If you’re looking for an emotional, military romance this is one to read!

I loved Chad and Faith’s story. This one hit so close to home, the friends to lovers, the civilian and the soldier, the feelings, the loneliness of deployments, all of it. It is so well written, and I have known many whose story this could be. As a child, sister, and spouse of the military, the worst is saying goodbye for deployment.
The emotions are real, but the rollercoaster is worth the ride. Chad and Faith’s decision to be friends despite the attraction, allowed for a wonderful story, and I was sad to have it end.

Holy Swoon!!!
Ford is the Ultimate Book Boyfriend!!!!
Beneath The Fallen Stars by Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black had everything I want in a romance. From the high doses of swoon to all the happily ever after vibes, I was invested! Everything about this novel is everything I love about reading romance. Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black hit this one right out of the park!!!
I’ve read books by Kaylee Ryan and have loved nearly all of them. And I’ve read a few books by Lacey Black with the same outcome. But never have I read a novel written by both of them… until now. In all honesty, reading a book that is written by two authors is a little overwhelming. I always fear the dreaded, where one ends and the other begins, I fear the moment I can tell which author writes what part of the novel. However, the flow of this novel is written beautifully and flawlessly! I will definitely be picking up more books by these co-authors in the near future!!
Beneath The Fallen Stars is a somewhat second chance at life and love type novel. Ford grew up with a dream in mind to follow in his father and grandfather’s footsteps and serve his country. So at eighteen years old, Ford enlisted in the Army. I loved how real Ford was throughout this novel. He said what he meant and meant what he said. I loved that about him, he’s a man you can count on. And given Shayne’s past relationship, That’s a definite trait she needs in a man. Ford had my heart singing and my soul swooning in all the right ways! This man has some serious book boyfriend potential.
Now let’s discuss Shayne.
Shayne’s life hasn’t been easy. What with being raised by a neglectful mom and her past relationship leaving her with a bad reputation throughout town. She’s happy to just stick to herself. She doesn’t need anyone in her life aside from her two cousins and her aunt and uncle…. Or so she thought. But when her cousin Chad arrives back in town on leave from the Army for two weeks, he’s not alone and her heart may be in trouble.
I love the concept of when you stop looking for love, it smacks you right in the face. This novel pretty much sums up that concept flawlessly! After Shayne’s last relationship burned her pretty badly, she was done looking. She was set on saving up money and moving on with her life. And on the other side of the scale, Ford was also done with looking for love. Especially after the ultimatum he was given from her prior girlfriend. Having a career in the Army isn’t easy on relationships. This is the first time I can actually say, I felt the insta-love from their first meeting. I was rooting for Ford and Shayne from the very moment he walked into the bar!
Sigh, these two are seriously #RelationshipGoals!
I already can’t wait to reread this one!!

Individually, Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black are fantastic authors, but there is something truly special about their co-written books. The way their words blend together so effortlessly, transitioning seamlessly between their writing styles, always produces these absolutely addictive stories. Once again, they have crafted an epically swoony, sexy, pull at your heartstrings romance I could not put down.
There was so much to love about this story. I loved the sweet heat between Shayne and Ford. Their relationship was all butterfly-inducing, romantic sweetness. I loved how they loved each other, how they communicated, and - perhaps most of all - how wide open their hearts were for each other. This couple definitely had fantastic chemistry, but it was the easy friendship, and the undeniable feeling that they were just meant to be, that made this romance so unputdownable for me.
There was so much depth here, so much heart and unexpected layers. It was such a touching story with heartfelt moments. Endearing characters and a sweet, romantic storyline that made me laugh and swoon, came together into a completely engrossing page-turner with a fated to happen feel. Truly, Beneath The Fallen Stars was an absolutely lovely story and your heart will thank you for reading.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
Ford enlists in the army right out of high school, his family was career military and he was going to follow in their footsteps. He met his best friend Chad in boot camp and were lucky to be deployed together. Chad always talked about his cousin Shayne and his family. When they have leave and Ford’s family is traveling he decides to go home with Chad for the first week then meet his family for the second week.
He meets Shayne and is stunned, Shayne is a woman, a very beautiful woman who he is instantly attracted to. Everything about her appeals to him and he makes no secret of it. I liked that Chad did not go all “stay away from my cousin”, he knew Ford was a good guy and would treat Shayne right.
Shayne had a rough childhood, her mom was an addict and Shayne spent more time taking care of her than any child should have to. Thankfully her uncle and aunt were awesome and helped and Chad and his sister Cassie were her brother and sister in every way. Things got better for her, she had a decent job and she met a nice man. They started talking about a future together when she’s blindsided by his pregnant wife. The showdown happens at the bar she works at, she’s so stunned by the news he’s married that she never defends herself or explains she didn’t know he was married. The whole town turns on her, calling her a whore and homewrecker. So she’s a little cautious of Ford but since he has Chad’s endorsement she gives into her attraction and agrees to a date.
The date goes well and soon they spend the whole week together. Both are super sad when Ford has to leave, but they knew going in that he was going to leave. A particularly bad day at work with the town mean girls bringing up her being a “homewrecker” has her boss giving her a few days off. Ford asks her to come to visit him. His family was sweet, they are very welcoming of Shayne. They spend more time together and finally have their first time together.
When it’s time for the guys to return to base it’s a tearful goodbye again. They vow to write each other and stay true to their relationship. I love yous are said and Ford decides that he no longer sees the Army as his career. He can not imagine his life without Shayne and he doesn’t want to miss all the moments of their lives with him deployed constantly.
They write, text, and call while he is at base. She leans on her family and his during his time away. She becomes good friends with his twin sister Faith. Side story of a possible romance between Faith and Chad, we’ll get to see their story in the next book.
A surprise pregnancy and miscarriage happen, that is a shock. Cassie and her aunt are there for her, Ford is devastated he can’t be with her. He gets leave and comes to her. They are very sweet to each other over the loss of their baby.
Shayne decides to go to cosmetology school and get her degree and Ford finishes his time with the military.
Epilogue with Ford’s enlistment over, Shayne graduating, Ford buying them the house of Shayne’s dreams, and a proposal.
The theme of looking at the stars at night was cute, they could each look up and see the same stars no matter where they were in the world, making them feel connected to one another. Ford enlists in the army right out of high school, his family was career military and he was going to follow in their footsteps. He met his best friend Chad in boot camp and were lucky to be deployed together. Chad always talked about his cousin Shayne and his family. When they have leave and Ford’s family is traveling he decides to go home with Chad for the first week then meet his family for the second week.
He meets Shayne and is stunned, Shayne is a woman, a very beautiful woman who he is instantly attracted to. Everything about her appeals to him and he makes no secret of it. I liked that Chad did not go all “stay away from my cousin”, he knew Ford was a good guy and would treat Shayne right.
Shayne had a rough childhood, her mom was an addict and Shayne spent more time taking care of her than any child should have to. Thankfully her uncle and aunt were awesome and helped and Chad and his sister Cassie were her brother and sister in every way. Things got better for her, she had a decent job and she met a nice man. They started talking about a future together when she’s blindsided by his pregnant wife. The showdown happens at the bar she works at, she’s so stunned by the news he’s married that she never defends herself or explains she didn’t know he was married. The whole town turns on her, calling her a whore and homewrecker. So she’s a little cautious of Ford but since he has Chad’s endorsement she gives into her attraction and agrees to a date.
The date goes well and soon they spend the whole week together. Both are super sad when Ford has to leave, but they knew going in that he was going to leave. A particularly bad day at work with the town mean girls bringing up her being a “homewrecker” has her boss giving her a few days off. Ford asks her to come to visit him. His family was sweet, they are very welcoming of Shayne. They spend more time together and finally have their first time together.
When it’s time for the guys to return to base it’s a tearful goodbye again. They vow to write each other and stay true to their relationship. I love yous are said and Ford decides that he no longer sees the Army as his career. He can not imagine his life without Shayne and he doesn’t want to miss all the moments of their lives with him deployed constantly.
They write, text, and call while he is at base. She leans on her family and his during his time away. She becomes good friends with his twin sister Faith. Side story of a possible romance between Faith and Chad, we’ll get to see their story in the next book.
A surprise pregnancy and miscarriage happen, that is a shock. Cassie and her aunt are there for her, Ford is devastated he can’t be with her. He gets leave and comes to her. They are very sweet to each other over the loss of their baby.
Shayne decides to go to cosmetology school and get her degree and Ford finishes his time with the military.
Epilogue with Ford’s enlistment over, Shayne graduating, Ford buying them the house of Shayne’s dreams, and a proposal.
The theme of looking at the stars at night was cute, they could each look up and see the same stars no matter where they were in the world, making them feel connected to one another. It is about Shayne and Ford, who meet when Ford accompanies his best friend home on their military leave. This is a definite insta-love story. Ford and Shayne, who is the cousin of Ford’s best friend, meet and are immediately struck by each other. Their relationship is problematic: Ford would only be in town for a week and then would be stationed several hours away, but they were unable to resist. This is a military, long distance romance story about a new adult couple who must cope with frequent separation and possible deployment while still forging a new relationship. Their struggle is a little overblown for me, who spent a year attending a different college from my fiancé without quite as much misery, but they were young and in love, and faced some grief and loss. I loved the way they loved each other as well as the ways they learned to cope with the distance. Shayne made a lot of positive changes in her life due to Ford’s support and I loved how his love made her stronger and want more for herself. I think this story is a testament to the difficulty of relationships for military servicemen and servicewomen, which are almost all distance relationships at some point. If you enjoy sappy romances with tons of passion that will not make you ugly cry, then this may be the one for you. I enjoyed it and you may too.

Beneath the Fallen Stars by Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black is now live and it was such a sweet and charming read. I absolutely loved Ford and Shayne so much. Their story pulled me right in from the start and I could not stop reading. Shayne has dealt with so much and finds it hard to let others in. Ford is everything. He is considerate, protective, and so swoony. He was instantly drawn to Shayne and I loved that about him. I also, loved the chemistry they shared and their interactions. It was just so easy to get lost in this story and highly recommend it.

Absolutely Beautiful Story!
This is one of those stories that grabs you from the first page and just won't let you put it down. Shayne and Ford's story was amazing. A man in the military who meets the one while on leave knowing he still has time left to serve. There are moments that make you cry, but it is such a beautiful story that it is worth the tears. I highly recommend this book!

Beneath the Desert Sun is the second book in the Never Too Far series by Lacey Black and Kaylee Ryan. This is the story of Chad and Faith. For those who have read the first book in this series, Chad is Ford’s best friend and Shayne’s cousin. Faith is Ford’s twin sister and Shayne’s best friend. This book begins when Chad was transferred to a new Army base in California and Shayne, having graduated from college, was trying to find her first job and was frustrated with the lack of offers to teach kindergarten near to home. Chad invited her to visit him in California for a few weeks in order to clear her head. That two weeks changed the course of their lives, and Chad’s deployment overseas brought clarity to the direction for their futures. This was a really sweet, emotional military romance story. I don’t mean a romantic suspense military romance, but a story about the very real challenges of relationships for members of the military. Chad and Faith had their start in Beneath the Fallen Stars, but decided to remain friends with the belief that a relationship would happen if it was meant to. I loved both these characters and I loved the way they loved each other. I think that they had a solid foundation since they had at least a year of friendship under their belt. I thought that the support systems they built for themselves was indicative of military families I have known. It was a little overdone for my taste, but I think it’s ok because many people fixate on what they are missing. I never had to go so long without seeing my husband, so I don’t have that perspective, and cannot know exactly how I would feel. All in all it was an enjoyable, sappy romance and I would recommend it to readers that enjoy the anxiety of a sappy romance with tons of passion without the need to ugly cry.

Oh my stars, Black and Ryan blew me away with Shayne and Fords story. Beneath The Fallen Stars was unexpected on so many levels, but the way I resonated with not only the characters, but the story line, has me feeling some type of way; a good way.
This book moved me. It was like a feather light touch across my skin that quickly moved straight to my heart, that had me all up in my feels from the realness. The authenticity that this duo of authors showcased through their characters makes my eyes well up with tears. Both Shayne and Ford are a truly timeless characters, that grew and grew and grew. Their sense of maturity is what I wish for in more books. It made this story much more fulfilling because I didn’t have to deal with the lagging that comes with someone not sure of their feelings, and the confidence in themselves and in their partners.
Beneath The Fallen Stars is a full fledge story that keeps chuckin’ along with fine tuned development. The dialogue was filled with maturity and realness. The depth was beautiful and relatable. I adore the chemistry that Ford and and Shayne had. It was automatic, but was also kinetic. It’s like, when you know, you know, and I knew from the very first eye catching moment that these two were meant to be.
Before I close my review out, I have to point out the title of this book. In my opinion, this title is EVERYTHING, and just thinking of the relevance, it gives me goosebumps.
At this point in my life, I’m not above begging on my hands and knees for Black and Ryan to give me Faith and Chads story. So here’s to praying for that lol.

What a wild ride for these two! Ford has been in the army since he was able to enlist, and after going through a Dear John style breakup, he isn’t sure that he will ever find love again, at least while serving. That all changes when he gets back from deployment with his best friend and they go to his town for a week and meets his best friend’s cousin, Shayne. Shayne has had a rough childhood, and although her aunt and uncle have tried to help, she feels it is her responsibility to handle and feels that she will never get out of the small town that judges her for things even out of her control. When Shayne and Ford meet, it’s instant sparks that fly and neither of them know what to do, seeing that Ford will go back to base, and she won’t ever get out of her small town. With Ford’s two weeks of leave, and Shayne’s “bad luck” they end up spending all of the time together and realize that they care deeply for each other, albeit quickly. As the story goes on, we see them navigate long distance together while Shayne also works to get out of the small town and find purpose in her life. This was such a sweet storyline, and per usual, the writing from Kaylee and Lacey are perfect. I can’t wait to see what these authors give us next!

I’m pretty sure Ford is the perfect guy! This is a love at first sight book and although those can often be unbelievable, this one totally worked. Ford had a pretty easy life growing up, a loving family and he always knew he was going into the Army to carry on the family tradition. Shayne’s life was the complete opposite, no loving family at home although she did have an extended family who looked after her. She didn’t even think about college or a future after high school because she knew she needed to earn money to live. Then she met Ford. Ford was raised right and is the perfect gentleman. It’s rare in romance books but the conflict here isn’t between the two main characters and their relationship because they are solid. It’s more about navigating this new relationship with one person who is in the military and can be deployed at any time and another who has had a rough life and doesn’t trust easily. It has some tough moments to read but overall it was a very sweet book and I loved how Ford and Shayne’s relationship progressed! I assume Chad and Faith will also get a book of their own considering the very cryptic hints at the end!

Faith goes to visit him in California after graduating and while there, Chad finds out he’s getting deployed. Chad asks Faith to marry her so they can get military housing and she’ll get benefits if anything happens to him. Also, Faith is an idiot who applied for a job without realizing it was in California so she miraculously has a job to go with her new life.
I got so sick of these two constantly calling each other “husband” and “wife”. It was also pretty repetitive with the “I miss you”, “I wish I was home”, “I’m always with you” statements. Anyway despite these two being married and telling each other that they love each other, Faith thinks they’re just married as friends and Chad will call it off once his deployment is over. Multiple people tell her that Chad loves her and she continues to argue that it’s just as friends.
I skipped over all the bonus letters at the end because I was over these two.

I cant get enough of Kaylee and Lacey collaborations, each book ive read by them is better than the last, this book was so good and so emotional. we have Ford whos in the army and he loves it, well that is until he meets Shayne . I could just imagine Fords face when he meets Shayne for the first time haha, Love that his friend chad was laughing, all in good fun . they built up there relationship and it was so beautiful to see them come together and help one another in different ways, Shayne grew a lot in the book and by the end she was so remarkably awesome, I loved this book so much . Ford was a sweetheart he never backed down and together him and Shayne triumph. Beautiful story.

Ok so first of all can we just appreciate how beautiful and gorgeous this cover is? And then after that? Admire the story inside. Never read Kaylee Ryan or Lacey Black? Pick this book up and read ASAP. You’ll be adding all the back log to your tbr after this. And if you’ve read them before prepare to be blown away… again! I think this may be my favorite book by the both of them. Shayne and Ford, gah! Guys!! Seriously!! This book was AMAZING and then some! One click on release day and see just how right I am!!

More of a 3.5 ⭐️. A sweet, no angst story. I had a hard time getting into this book. Ford was sweet & sensitive but had all the alpha I want in an H. Shayne had a rough life but Ford brought out her strength. I enjoyed the story the further I got into the book, but the beginning was so hard. The ending I wanted more. It felt a bit rushed towards the end. It was slow telling us days, weeks, then suddenly we were a year later. Then we don’t get into their future. I felt a bit let down by the whole book.

This is an emotional story that will hit you directly in the heart. The feels will be strong so be prepared. It's worth every pang in the heart I had no doubt in my mind I would enjoy this story but it still blew me away. These two just know how to write a story that will stick with you and they know how to write their characters. I just love Shayne and Ford so much and love their story. Definitely recommend!!

I don't know how my heart survived this story but here I am. It took me a few days to write my review because it's that powerful. It's emotional but sweet and steamy at the same time. Ford and Shayne took my heart and I loved falling in love right along with them through their letters and the distance.

Kaylee and Lacey creates a world in their stories that I'm always excited to dive into. They never fail in their ability to engage a reader from start to finish. Great writing, intriguing story, just couldn't put it down! It's a page turner type of book that you can spend your night awake to finish it knowing the next day that it's worth every sleepless minute.

I absolutely LOVED Beneath the Fallen Stars, first book in the Never Too Far series co-written by Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black! I loved every moment on every page of Beneath the Fallen Stars, and it was impossible to put it down. I have not read many books that are co-written by two authors, and I am sometimes concerned about the flow of the story, but all I can say is that Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black did an incredible job in writing Beneath the Fallen Stars. They did not disappoint their readers with Beneath the Fallen Stars and have delivered an incredible love story filled with everything that I love in a love story. I love that they write the stories that I love to read. Who does not love hot sexy men, who make you swoon, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another, and wonderful characters? Beneath the Fallen Stars is a love story between Ford Gregory, soldier in the U.S. Army and his best friend, Chad Anthony’s cousin, Shayne Danner, bartender at Jet’s Pub and Pool Hall. Ford and Chad have a two week leave from the Army. Ford’s parents are not home, so he decides to head home to Kentucky with Chad to meet his family. They will then spend the second week visiting Ford’s family in Ohio. Chad has always talked about his cousin, Shayne, Ford always assumed that Shayne was a guy. He was surprised to discover that Shayne was the beautiful bartender serving them drinks. Shayne grew up in a broken home with a mother who was an addict and alcoholic and spent a lot of time at the Anthony’s home growing up. Ford is immediately attracted to Shayne, and they end up spending time together when Ford is in Kentucky. As Ford and Shayne spend time together things heat up between them. I love the chemistry between Shayne and Ford and their love story. I love the secrets that each one shares with one another, especially the ones that Shayne shared about her childhood. Ford wants a future with Shayne and encourages her to enroll in cosmetology classes. Ford is not planning on re-enlisting in the Army, so he will be discharged in a year. A surprise plot twist brings them closer, especially with the letter they wrote together. It also helps Shayne decide to enroll in cosmetology classes in Ohio instead of Kentucky so that she can be closer to Ford. Shayne will room with Ford’s twin sister, Faith, who will be a college senior. I love the letters that they write to one another while they are apart and how they feel closer to one another when they are beneath the stars. I love all the changes that Shayne and Ford make in their life to have a life with each other, outside of college and the army. My favorite part is that the epilogue is told from both Ford and Shayne’s perspective and goes beyond the happily ever after. I love Ford’s graduation gift to Shayne and his proposal beneath the stars. I love the ending of their love story. I love how Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black managed to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. One of my favorite parts of her books is how the title of the book is incorporated into the love story. Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black have given their readers an incredible book with incredible characters and have proven that they are amazing storytellers. I really enjoy how she writes her stories in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love knowing what the main characters are thinking and feeling. Beneath the Fallen Stars is filled with all those things that I have come to love and expect in a love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black create such wonderful and memorable characters with Beneath the Fallen Stars. I love Shayne and Ford’s story and the descriptions of the Kentucky and Ohio settings. I love the characters and the family dynamic in Beneath the Fallen Stars, the characters feel like family and friends. Beneath the Fallen Stars was a wonderful love story. I highly recommend this love story. Cannot wait to read the other books in the series.
