Courtney

Maybe blurting out my imaginary relationship status to my nagging mother wasn’t the best idea.

Declaring that I’m dating my boss’s brother-in-law, well, that was just wishful thinking and a lot of panic.

To my embarrassment, they both overheard me. But Merrick not only offers to be my plus one, he agrees to fake date me for the next couple of months leading up to my sister’s wedding.

The more time we spend together, the harder it becomes to deny that every look, every touch, is making him more a part of my life than I’m prepared for.

The pain of thinking about walking away from him when it’s time doesn’t feel pretend. It feels real… too real.

Merrick

Courtney’s sister is tying the knot, and her mom is relentless about her finding a date and settling down. In a moment of panic, she claims she’s dating me.

To save her from the awkward situation and ease the pressure, I suggest we fake a relationship until the wedding. I figure we can hang out, show up to the wedding, and go our separate ways.

But as we start spending more time together and meeting each other’s families, the lines between real and pretend blur.

What was supposed to be a simple agreement starts to feel genuine. I’m unsure when it happened, but this relationship is suddenly the real deal, and I don’t want it to end. I want us to stay real.

Courtney (22) has been stressing out over the fact that her mom won't stop badgering her about finding a date for her sister's wedding, which is, btw, still in three months. And although she knows this comes from a good place, the constant questions in her dating life were becoming too much for her. Add the fact that she's a people-pleaser with a lot of insecurities, hence why she can't tell her mom to stop whatever she's doing.

Personally, some parents really need to back off when it comes to the dating lives of their kids. Obsessing over this stuff is becoming unhealthy at times and putting so much unnecessary stress on their kids' shoulders.

Moving back to the story, knowing her mom won't stop with questions, she randomly blurted that she's dating the brother-in-law of her boss, Merrick (24). He came right on time to the shop when Courtney said that, and he gladly played along with her plan. After all, it's just three months of fake dating, and he's unattached at the moment. It also helped that he finds her attractive, so it's not really a hardship for him. And this is how their fake dating started.

For the first 82%-ish mark, they did a lot of things except communicate. Don't get me wrong, they do talk, but not like truly talk about the important things in their situation. They have a lot of inner monologues and assumptions about one another, but they never voiced out any of them until the wedding day of Courtney's sister. They held back for the majority of the book, and some parts of the lines or thoughts got repetitive along the way.

Ngl, it was difficult to read Courtney's character because of her never-ending insecurities, and sure, she did come out of her shell, but there are times her overthinking would get the best out of her and she spiraled into thinking she's not good enough or stuff like that. Then Merrick would tell her over and over again that everything will work out for the best and she shouldn't worry. He's a good guy; I mean, all the MMCs in this series are. But his constant indenial of his real feelings doesn't sit well with me. He knew he's feeling something for Courtney but still won't acknowledge it for what it is. I think it was around 70% mark; he was still unsure what to do with his emotions, and idk, it kind of made me lose interest in him. They were both avoiding what was actually going on between them and allowing their worries to get in the way. Had they only really communicated, they wouldn't have had to deal with overanalyzing things. 😮‍💨

They eventually talked after the wedding, and the last 15% of the story was about them being blissfully in an actual real relationship. It wasn't a bad story by any means; I'm just probably not in the mood for something like this. 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, although it didn't hold my interest, I did enjoy the epilogue since this is the last book in the series. It's nice to see a glimpse of the whole family and their lives years later, and I believe there will be a second generation series for the children.

Book info:
- Small town romance
- Fake dating
- Cheesefest
- Slowburn
- No cheating, OMD, separation
- OWD (see notes)
- No V (see notes)
- HEA (1 yr later, married and with newborn son)

Notes:
- OWD. Not really, but there were two instances where a woman openly flirted with Merrick despite him holding Courtney by his side. He didn't entertain them, and he even got annoyed for the disrespect to Courtney. It also pissed him off that she wasn't marking her territory and showing everyone that he's her even though they were only fake dating. She's still timid and very much unsure of herself atp.
- No V. Both said it has been a year since their last action. But Courtney might as well have been a freaking virgin because, god forbid, she's inexperienced as heck. And of course, Merrick has "played the field". He taught her things and got some of her firsts, and wouldn't you be surprised one of them is getting an O? Shocker. 😑
- They both went to the same high school, and he's two years older than her and was quite famous back then. So they know the existence of one another but never really got to know each other until they started their fake dating scheme.

I’m not ready to say goodbye to the Kincaids. But if I have to (at least for now) this was the way to do it. I don’t think I melted and swooned as much as I did reading this one. The Queen of Swoon did it!!

To get her overbearing mother off her back, Courtney blurts out that she’s dating. Merrick Kincaid, the last of the single Kincaid brothers, is the first name that comes to mind and he just so happens to overhear her and swoops in to help. The thing about the Kincaids, when they do something, they go all in. Fake dating Merrick Kincaid…there is NO fake with this man and it was phenomenal.

Their story and the entire Kincaid family stand to forever hold my heart.. I can’t say enough about the Kincaid family and how they embrace and wrap everyone in their proximity into their family…they are also good to bring some shenanigans and a few of the funniest situations. I also really enjoyed Courtney’s family and the growth of her relationship with her overbearing mom.

Like the rest of the series, I was sucked in and I couldn’t put it down. This was one of the most enjoyable and romantic books to read. It gave me all the feels!!!! It touches the emotions, provides laugh-out-loud moments, some spicy scenes, and the most heartwarming moments.

If you want to read this one as a standalone you can, but I’ll warn you, you’ll fall in love with the Kincaids and want to read the entire 8 book series.

I didn't understand why Courtney was so insecure, it kept coming up over and over again, Merrick was so good about not letting that stand, even when they started out and things were friendship based. You knew that the friendship would morph into more and it was fun to watch. I especially liked Merrick have these light bulb moments where he realized his feelings were real and so much more than he ever thought. Great to see them happy at the end.

I can finally say that I’ve had my grabby hands on the ‘baby’s’ highly anticipated book. Boy oh boy, Merrick Kinkaid is not only the cake, but the ice cream to. Before I jump into ALL that though, there’s a few things I need to say. Stay Real is a heart happy book. In my opinion, Merrick and Courtney’s story was beautifully written with perfect development from beginning to end. The chemistry and connection was authentic and Family is always core. ALWAYS.

Merrick Kincaid is patient, and kind. Reassuring and uplifting in the most understated way. He radiates so much positivity that I cannot see him without a smile consistently on his face.

Courtney is a kinda like a wallflower. She’s quiet and somewhat shy. A somewhat people pleaser. She has an air of innocence that surrounds her.
Her growth though? Insert- Clap, clap, clap.

The Kincaid series is by far one of the best I’ve ever read. Every single book in this series shares the same ‘word’, and every single one, has not wavered in that ‘word’. It is simply divine that this author stayed true to her characters’ family history without wavering. It makes this interconnected series that much better. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, these Kincaid men SLAYYYY me. Now, I’m so ready for that little bonus scene to come to life. Side eye.

I do not want to say goodbye to the Kincaid family. I can re-read the series, but nothing is like the first read through. I stalled reading Merricks book, but gave in earlier this week. As I have done in the past with other final books in the series, I found myself counting chapters, slowing as I was nearing the end. Marrick would not allow this, he had me swooning and smiling. What started as a white lie became so much more. Treating Courtney as his queen showing her what a family is and how a boyfriend should act, even if it is pretend.

I am sorry to see the Kincaids come to a close, I know this author will give us a new family to join soon.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review

5/5 stars.

This book was so bittersweet for me, I cried in chapter one already. Not because the book gave us anything to cry about, but because I knew this was the last in the series, and I'm going to miss this amazing family so so much. Merrick was just like his brothers, I fell in love with him fast and hard. He is such boyfriend material. Courtney was so relatable and I loved that about this book, I laughed and I cried with her. This book stole my heart from the very first page and I definitely recommend it!

I’m obsessed with the Kincaid books! Merrick and Courtney story is so good. I didn’t want to put the book down. Merrick is on the book boyfriend list. Sweet, sexy and knows how to take care of Courtney even if they start off as a fake relationship. I could read this book over and over again.

Courtney is someone who is shy and is living with the belief that she has to fulfill certain expectations. But that's just her insecurities and when her mother starts pestering her about her dating life and bringing a date to her sister's wedding...she blurts out that she's dating Merrick Kincaid.

Merrick, is one of nine brothers and has watched eight of them fall madly in love. He knows what he wants without a doubt and is waiting for his forever love. But when Courtney confesses what she did, without question he decides to help her out.
...the final book in this beautiful series, and what an ending.

Loved the relationship between Merrick and Courtney. She was incredibly insecure and shy and he made her become stronger and sure of herself. Merrick didn't see what was right in front of him, but damn he fell and he fell hard.

And he made sure his woman knew she was it for him.

....loved the moments these two had 🩷

Loved the moments they spent with his nieces and nephew!

That epilogue! Excuse me? I need more 🙈

Well, she’s done it again. Stay Real is the final in the Kincaid Brothers series and while I’m incredibly disappointed that it’s over I have absolutely loved this series and this final book was no different.

Merrick Kincaid was lucky last and he is the baby of the family so maybe it was to be expected, but as they say last but certainly not least. Merrick and his twin Maverick were always there to tease their brothers as they fell in love. They also supported them 100% through all the ups and downs of finding the one. Merrick is not necessarily looking for the one but he is ready to settle down and have what his brothers have he’s just not expecting to find it by fake dating a woman who works for one of his sisters-in-law.

Courtney has been working for Jordyn at her boutique for a few years an she’s been around the Kincaid family throughout just on the outside. Courtney was the shy nerdy girl in school just a couple of years under the twins. She’s happy with her life but feels a little off because, unlike her younger sister who is about to married and working in a career she loves, Courtney feels unsure about her choices.

When Courtney’s helicopter mum put pressure on her too. Having a date for her sister's wedding it leads to her saying she’s dating someone and while looking at a family photo of the Kincaids in the boutique she blurts out Merrick’s name.

Merrick is a good guy and he can see how much Courtney is stressing over her little lie he doesn’t hesitate to step up for her.

So I’m sure you can guess where this going. Some time spent together in the pursuit of selling their relationship and some fake dates and it's not long before real feelings are developing and it’s hard to tell where fake ends and real begins.

I love that Merrick also helps to build up Courtney’s self-esteem and how Maverick understands Merrick’s feelings with their “weird twin thing”. Like all of this series, it’s all those extra moments with the brothers and family that really add to the magic of this story. As always Blakey manages to steal the show with a few of her lines.

I’ll be looking forward to whatever series Kaylee Ryan delivers next and I hope with the ending of Stay Real that we might be seeing the Kincaids again.

Courtney loves her family but lately, it’s been hard to deal with her mother. Her mother is constantly at her about finding a man and having what her sister has. She knows she means well but it doesn’t hurt any less that she’s not enough as she is. When a phone call starts with the same hounding she bursts out that she’s dating someone, and the only someone she can think of is the single member of the Kincaid family whose photo she’s looking at in her boss’s boutique.
‘It’s all going to be okay. Merrick Kincaid just saved my ass.’

Merrick walks into Jordyn’s boutique overhearing her and Courtney talking about him. When Courtney reluctantly fills him in he immediately volunteers his fake dating services. One look at her and he can see how she’s beating herself up for the lie and for lying to her mother. But under that, he can see that her self-esteem is taking a hit too. He’s single and free so what will a couple of months and a wedding date hurt him.
‘This is my chance to back out. I can avoid the teasing of my brothers and the scheming of my sisters-in-law, but there’s a bigger part of me that doesn’t want out of this. Maybe it was the defeat in Courtney’s eyes as she explained. Maybe it’s me being selfish and wanting to spend time with the beauty standing before me. Maybe I’m just a nice guy, and I really do want to help her. Either way, I know I’m not backing out.’

Courtney can’t believe that Merrick has willingly signed up to be her fake boyfriend for the next couple of months. She wants to give him every chance to back out but no matter how many times she offers he doesn’t back out. More than that he’s incredibly convincing, attentive, and caring. It’s hard not to feel more than she is supposed to.
“We’re pretending,” I whisper, because I need the reminder. “And we’re going to sell this. I’m all in, baby.” His lips press to my forehead, and I melt. I’ve read about this kind of reaction in my romance novels, but I’ve never experienced it. Merrick Kincaid just made me swoon with not only his words but his actions.

Merrick is finding that spending time with Courtney isn’t just easy it’s fun. When he has a bad day or a good day he wants to share it with her he wants to make sure she’s safe and taking care of herself and every day the urge to kiss her becomes stronger.
‘Only a fool would pass up a chance to give that woman experiences she’s been too shy to take for herself until now. My momma didn’t raise no fool. I’ll give her whatever she needs.’

She wasn’t supposed to fall for Merrick Kincaid and with the wedding getting closer and closer she knows their deal is almost over and that it’s going to hurt to lose Merrick and she has no doubt that she’ll never love anyone like she loves him.
‘I wish things were different. I wish that after the wedding, we were going to stay real.’

Deciding that he doesn’t want it to be fake anymore isn’t all the difficult but wondering if Courtney is wanting what he wants is the scary part, but as always the rest of the Kincaids are right behind him.
‘All these weeks we’ve been hanging out together, I’ve kept reminding myself that we were pretending. Somewhere along the way, I stopped. Now, all I have to do is convince the love of my life that we should stay real.’

Happy Reading.

I absolutely loved Stay Real by Kaylee Ryan; it is an incredible fake dating love story. Stay Real is a bittersweet book for me, it is the eighth and final book in her Kincaid Brothers series. I was so sad saying goodbye to the Kincaids, but she definitely saved the best book in the series for the last book. Kaylee Ryan continues to prove that she is an amazing storyteller and is one of my favorite authors to read. It was impossible to put Stay Real down and I loved every moment on every page. It is one of the most enjoyable books that I have read recently. It filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. Stay Real is the story of Merrick Kincaid, heavy equipment operator and Courtney, works at Merrick’s sister-in-law, Jordyn’s boutique. Courtney’s younger sister, Chloe, is getting married and her mother keeps nagging her about her plus one. Her mother calls her while she is at work, and Courtney blurts out that she is dating Merrick. Unbeknownst to Courtney, Merrick is right behind her. Merrick agrees to fake date Courtney and be her date to Chloe’s wedding and then will go their separate. They agree to be seen together and go on a couple of dates. I love the chemistry between Courtney and Merrick. Conversation between Courtney and Merrick flows so easily, with innuendos and playful banter, and Merrick constantly flirting with Courtney and telling her she is beautiful. As Courtney and Merrick spend time together fake dating, things change between them, neither admitting their true feelings for one another, since Courtney believes that Merrick is just being nice and agreeing to fake date her. I love how their relationship changes from friendship to something more without them willing to admit it. I love the heart-to-heart conversation that Courtney and Merrick have following Chloe’s wedding and the other conversations that Courtney has with her mother Merrick’s sisters-in-law and Merrick has with his brothers. I love the Kincaid family text thread and the texts between Courtney and Merrick. I love everything that Merrick does for Courtney to show that their relationship is more than fake dating to him. I loved that Stay Real is more than just a romance, there are issues that both Courtney and Merrick are facing that need to be resolved. I love how the storylines get so beautifully resolved. My favorite part of Stay Real is the ending of their love story, especially Merrick’s proposal and the location of his proposal. Another favorite part is the two epilogues, one is told from Courtney’s perspective, and the second epilogue told from Merrick’s perspective and the surprises revealed. My favorite part of Stay Real is the Bonus Scene that is told from Blakely’s perspective and that it takes place ten years in the future. My favorite part of the book is how Kaylee Ryan incorporates the title of the book and the picture on the cover into the love story. Stay Real is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments, and with so much emotion. It is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a Kaylee Ryan love story, and she did not disappoint, especially with the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. I love how Kaylee Ryan always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. Make sure you have Kleenex nearby for the ending. Stay Real is filled with poignant and bittersweet moments as well as plot twists that I have come to love and expect in a Kaylee Ryan love story. I still love all the “Blakey-isms” that are included in the story. I love Courtney’s reaction to those comments. I especially love the family motto of “Work hard and love harder. I love the characters and the family dynamic in Stay Real, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoyed all the interactions between the Kincaid siblings, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I love the descriptions of the Willow River location. I loved all the characters in Stay Real. Stay Real was a wonderful tribute and farewell to the Kincaid family. It was a bittersweet story saying goodbye to the Kincaids. I love how all the Kincaids embraced Courtney, the moment Merrick started bringing her around and the friendships that Courtney made with the Kincaid wives. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? I thoroughly enjoyed Stay Real, who does not love a fake dating love story. I loved catching up with all the Kincaids, and all their babies. Highly recommend this incredible love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

Courtney’s mother has been relentlessly hounding her about having a date for her younger sister’s wedding. Feeling panicked she tells her mom she’s dating Merrick. Why? Because she was looking at a family picture on Jordyn’s desk and he is the only unmarried Kincaid.
Jordyn overhears her employee, saying Merrick’s name and asks what’s going on. Embarrassed Courtney confesses that she lied to her mother to get her off her back about her dating life, she said she’s been dating Merrick.
Turns out Merrick is in Jordyn’s boutique and overhears and agrees to fake date her and attend her sister’s wedding.
Courtney is a people pleaser and is shy with a bit of low self esteem. She’s a self proclaimed bookworm and can’t understand why Merrick would be interested in her. But he sees a beautiful smart woman who he remembers from high school and is happy to help her.
They start to fake date and soon it doesn’t seem like fake dating. He is attentive, sweet, and considerate of her feelings and really sees her. Of course, Courtney loves the attention but has to constantly remind herself that this is fake. Merrick wants to break her habit of self doubt and give her a boost of confidence. Lots of touching, petting, and kisses. But because he keeps thinking it’s to boost her confidence it sort of came across as icky, like it’s pity attention.
Same as with Maverick’s book, everyone sees they are falling for each other but them. Neither has been in love before but have dated and had sex with others. Merrick was a bit of a player but it’s funny he never compares her to past hookups or even thinks about them. But she thinks about the few encounters she has had many times. I guess you as a reader were supposed to see how deep her feeling for Marrick compared to her other hookups.
They do the Sunday dinner with the whole Kincaid clan and parents dinner with her mom & dad and sister and fiancé. Lots of outings together, sleepovers, and oral sexy times for both. Merrick still denying his feelings, Courtney acknowledges she cares deeply and is going to be hurt when they end after her sister’s wedding. She guards her heart a little but decides she wants the full Merrick boyfriend experience. Their first time together is sweet.
They finally both acknowledge they love each other but Courtney still thinks they have an end date while Merrick with the help of his family plans a romantic surprise for her. After the wedding Courtney is sad and tells him she will honor her end of their deal and leave but he takes her inside his house where there are flowers and candlelight and lots of I love yous and sexy times. She moves in, he proposes, and Courtney’s epilogue on their wedding day and Merrick’s epilogue on they day their son is born.
Extra bonus epilogue from Blakely’s pov. She’s in college and home for the summer. You get an update off all the kids the brothers and cousin Ramsey had, 24 grandkids in all! Loved seeing all the aunts giving her great advice. Can’t wait for her book.
It’s sad to see the end of this series, the Kincaid men are amazing and the books were fun to read. Looking forward to second generation books.

🅼🆈 🆁🅴🆅🅸🅴🆆:

I seriously read this book without stopping at all because I was feeling all the warm and gooey feelings and felt I was experiencing all the sweet emotions that Merrick was making Courtney feel.

This one is the type of cozy read for when you just want to get lost in a sweet romance book that has all the feels and you're rooting for the main couple to just get together but there's no over the top conflict and drama but straight off romance, then this is your book.

The Kincaid Brothers are all settled now except for the youngest Kincaid, Merrick.
He's sweet and a gentleman but also one to make you go weak in the knees.

Courtney is tired of her mother constantly hounding her to find someone. Especially now that her little sister is about to get married, her mother has doubled her efforts wanting Courtney to find someone special in her life too.

In a spontaneous moment, without thinking Courtney conveys to her mother that she's been dating someone secretly and when probed further, somehow she accepts to dating Merrick and instantly regrets it.

I feel the way the story is written just will make you smile and everything just flows so smoothly.
Courtney and Merrick start spending loads of time hanging out and doing random stuff, some with their families, having family dinners, taking care of their nieces and nephews and making meals for his brothers and I WAS HERE FOR IT.

It just warmed my heart oh so much, the way Merrick brings out the confidence in the shy bookworm and makes Courtney stand up for herself.
Although, he himself doesn't want anything more but you can feel the strong Chemistry between these two building up and all the moments we have with them were just perfect and warmth filled and had my heart so full.

Especially, the 𝗌𝖾𝗑ual tension between them is so raw and real and I just couldn't wait for when these two would finally give into their desires.
Even though, this one is kinda slow burn but these two do get up to doing naughtier things and I was feeling the yearning along with them.

Ahhh... What an absolute heart melting ride this one was. I freaking loved every second of it.
Though, this is the first book of me reading the Kincaid Brothers series, you bet I'm going and reading each and every one of them. Loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️

Stay Real by Kaylee Ryan is a delightful conclusion to the Kincaid Brothers series, offering readers a captivating blend of romance, humor, and heartfelt moments. This eighth installment centers around Merrick Kincaid and Courtney, who enter a fake dating scenario that evolves into something deeper, filled with emotional twists and charming interactions.

As a fan of the series, I was eager to dive into this book and see how the story would unfold. From the very beginning, I found myself drawn into the narrative, captivated by the playful and flirtatious encounters between Merrick and Courtney. The chemistry between the two characters was undeniable, and I couldn't help but root for them as their relationship blossomed from a fake dating arrangement to something much more meaningful.

One of the aspects I enjoyed most about Stay Real was the strong family dynamics that were woven throughout the story. The Kincaid family is depicted as supportive and loving, with humorous interactions that added depth to the narrative. The inclusion of family text threads and conversations among siblings made me feel like I was a part of their close-knit community, and I found myself laughing along with their antics.

Kaylee Ryan's ability to evoke a range of emotions is truly impressive. As I read, I found myself laughing, swooning, and even reaching for tissues at certain points. The poignant moments, particularly the heart-to-heart conversations between Merrick and Courtney, resonated deeply with me, making the story feel both personal and relatable.

Overall, Stay Real is a fitting farewell to the Kincaid brothers, encapsulating themes of love, friendship, and the importance of family. As a longtime fan of the series, I was sad to see it come to an end, but I was also deeply satisfied with the way Kaylee Ryan wrapped up the story. This book is highly recommended for anyone looking for a heartfelt romance with a touch of humor and a strong sense of family ties. I give Stay Real a well-deserved four-star rating and encourage all fans of the series to pick up this delightful conclusion.

I'm a sucker for a fake relationship trope and Kaylee Ryan can do no wrong and this was so good!! I absolutely adore and love Merrick. Together with Courtney they are the perfect, heartwarming fit. Merrick is so swoon worthy *sigh* With that said, this was bittersweet. Saying goodbye to this family was rough. Such a great series! ~Andrea

"Kaylee Ryan's latest installment in the Kincaid Brothers series delivers a delightful blend of romance, humor, and family dynamics. In this book, Courtney finds herself in a bit of a predicament—her sister's wedding is fast approaching, and her well-meaning but meddlesome mother is determined to find her the ""perfect"" date. Enter Merrick Kincaid, the charming and reliable hero who steps in to save the day.

Courtney is a relatable protagonist, torn between wanting to avoid the endless setups her mother keeps arranging and the pressure of finding someone who can navigate the wedding chaos by her side. Merrick, as always, is a Kincaid through and through—handsome, kind-hearted, and more than willing to step up when needed. The chemistry between Courtney and Merrick is undeniable, with their interactions filled with witty banter, tender moments, and the slow build of a relationship that feels both inevitable and satisfying.

Ryan does an excellent job of weaving in the larger Kincaid family dynamics, giving readers a sense of the deep bonds between the brothers while also allowing each character to shine in their own right. Merrick's protective yet playful nature is the perfect match for Courtney's independent but slightly vulnerable persona. Their relationship develops in a way that feels natural, and readers will find themselves rooting for them from the very beginning.

The book balances lighthearted moments with deeper emotional beats, especially as Courtney navigates her complicated feelings about love, family expectations, and her own desires. Ryan's writing is, as always, engaging and easy to read, making it a perfect pick for anyone looking for a heartwarming and romantic escape." ~Stephanie

The Kincaid Brothers and all their wives will forever hold a special place in my heart. I knew that Merrick would find his soulmate in due time and now that it’s here, my heart is so full of love for him and Courtney’s story!

Merrick has been watching his brothers, including his twin, fall in love and although he doesn’t think he’s ready, true love sweeps in and turns this fake dating into something both characters want to Stay Real!

Courtney is such a sweetheart and she absorbs a lot of the pressure her mother has been putting on her about finding a date for her sister’s upcoming wedding. I loved how cool and suave Merrick was when he learns that Courtney has used him as a scapegoat as a date/boyfriend. Even though she keeps telling herself that what they have is nothing more than a simple agreement, the lines quickly become blurred.

I love how real the internal conflict felt for Courtney on the pages and Merrick’s a total gentleman, making every reader swoon. He’s charming, patient, and allows himself to be vulnerable with Courtney nearly right from the start. He gives her encouragement to stand up for herself without being pushy.

From start to finish, this book has everything I love about the trope of fake dating, yet gives us unique moments that capture the talent Kaylee has for giving us something that can stand on its own feet. Both characters evolve into better versions of themselves (apart and together!), forming a deep emotional connection that makes the physical well worth the wait to read.

If you love a sweet, low-angst romance, this is the PERFECT choice. I always recommend reading a series from start to finish and once you get to this book, you’ll adore how complete each brother and wife makes this series. It’s a perfect reminder that sometimes the best things in life are unexpected and with a little hope and work, they can Stay Real!

Stay Real is book 8 in the Kincaid Brothers series and is a bittersweet moment for me since it’s the final brothers story. Each brother has gotten a book, all are stand alone Interconnected books. This is the youngest brother’s book… Merrick Kincaid and Courtney. Every new brothers book means a new favorite brother but I honestly think Kaylee saved the best for last.

Our MMC, Merrick, is the youngest of 9 boys. Merrick is such a cinnamon roll , super sweet. He has his family, his job, his home, which keeps him busy but has never met THE One. When he overhears a conversation Courtney is having, he decides to help her.

The FMC, Courtney, is twenty two.. but you would think she was so much older because her mother acts like she’s an old maid. She’s been working at a Boutique, which is owned by Jordan , one of Merrick’s sister in laws. Courtney’s sister, Chloe, is two years younger and about to marry her hs sweetheart. Merrick has overheard a conversation and now has agreed to not only pretend date her but be a fake date to the wedding which is still a few months away.

I have to say Merrick and Courtney just had a great story. A connection from the start. Both had their families as an essential part of their lives and neither thought love would develop between them, both developed feelings with neither wanting to tell the other. I love the growth we saw from both characters in this story as well. Sometimes it just adds to the story and in this case i think it did. Merrick brought Courtney out of her shell, so people could really “ see and hear her” instead of just being the bookworm or wallflower.

I am so sad to see this series ending but so glad each brother got their HEA. Thank you to give me books pr for this advanced copy.

Kaylee Ryan returns readers to the vibrant, uplifting, supportive and swoony Kincaids for one final time. With baby of the family Merrick taking centre stage.

Merrick who is the last man standing having watched all of his eight brothers, including twin Maverick fall head over heels in love. And now it's his turn although Merrick doesn't quite think it's his time yet.

But he's such a sweet guy and when his sister-in-law Jordyn's colleague Courtney is overheard lying to her helicopter mum that Merrick is her boyfriend Merrick is more than happy to step up and play the part.

Although, Courtney is mortified she's having to lie to her mum and embarrassed that Merrick heard her and is willing to go along with the lie until Courtney's younger sister Chloe is married in three months time.

But believe me when I say Merrick is more than happy to help. As he's noticed what a stunner Courtney is and the more time he spends with her the more he realises Courtney just needs to believe in herself, forget what her mum says and just embrace life, the Kincaids, Merrick and all he has to offer.

And believe me he has lots to offer. 😉

However, Courtney is scared to get too comfortable as she's sure Merrick will walk away when their deal is done. But Merrick is starting to feel things he's never felt before and is more determined than ever that they Stay Real.

And with such a great cast of characters, lots of family feels, humour, sweetness and spice. Not to mention a true cinnamon roll hero. This was the perfect ending to what has been a truly delightful series and one I would thoroughly recommend it to all.

My thanks to Greys Promo and Kaylee Ryan for the opportunity to read an early copy of Stay Real. ☺️

I am so sad to see the Kincaid brothers series come to an end but I absolutely loved it ending with Merrick and Courtney.

Let’s start with Courtney. I really enjoyed our FMC. While she had insecurities she was such an honest person. I love how when Jordyn overheard her blurt Merricks name out in a conversation Courtney was honest with what had happened and why she did it. Courtney explained how she has a mom who loves to hound her over having a boyfriend/date to her sister's wedding. Luckily for our girl Court, Merrick is there to hear the conversation and agrees to help her out. What they both didn’t expect was for something fake to turn into something very real.

Merrick and Courtney were perfect together. Courtney had insecurities and when she voiced them outloud in front of Merrick I loved how he was there to help show her that is not how he sees her and to help him work through them. Merrick like most of his brothers of course was oblivious to the fact that he indeed had real feelings for Courtney and that they were not fake. Courtney and her relationship with the whole Kincaid family was so sweet and wholesome. Like I said above her honesty is what I loved about her so on her first meeting I appreciated how she was honest about being nervous and wanted to help with dinner to keep her mind and body busy. The intimate scenes between Merrick and Courtney were perfect and I loved how these two communicated their wants/needs.

The epilogues at the end of this book were everything I needed for closure with this family and so much more! I can’t wait for the next series from Kaylee.

Thank you Kaylee for the arc of this book.

This is the final book in the Kincaid Brothers Series. I am so sad to see this series end but in typical Kaylee Ryan fashion, she ended it perfectly. I have patiently been waiting for for Merrick Kincaids story, he is the youngest brother in the family.
Merrick is patient, sweet, caring, easy going, the list could go on and on. Someone that you can count on in any situation. He tries to see the positive in every situation as well. He is just a good guy.
Courtney tries to stay in the background as much as possible. She works for Jordyn, who is one of Merrick's sister in laws, at her boutique. Her sister is getting married soon and her mom is on her to have a date for the wedding and she is over it so she spits out that she has a boyfriend and when her mom asks who she says Merrick Kincaid and quickly regrets it. Why would she say that. Merrick quickly offers to help her. Why not the wedding is only 3 months away, they can make it that long.
One of my favorite parts of this book is how Merrick helps Courtney build up her self-esteem and how Mavs twin thing understands Mers feeling and visa versa, how they feel what the other is feeling.
With all the books in the series we get all of the Kincaids and their families. The motto Work hard, Love Harder is applied in this book as well of course. We get all of our Blakely moments! She is truly a gem!
How will this story end with Mer and Court I think you know! Thank you Kaylee for another amazing story!
Read this story and get the bonus scene at the end, you will miss out if you don't I PROMISE YOU!!!!!!

𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 is the 8th and final book in the Kincaid Brothers series by Kaylee Ryan, featuring a must-read fake dating romance for Merrick and Courtney. Merrick agrees to fake a relationship with Courtney, in order to save her from her mother’s relentless meddling. They just have to make it until her sister’s wedding in a few months, but they weren’t expecting the lines to blur so quickly as they spent time together. Will they find a way to stay real, when their time is up?

I love this family so much, and I can’t believe we’re already on the last brother! Merrick was definitely well worth the wait, though, as he went all in to help Courtney, the shy, people pleaser. I totally empathized with Courtney on her insecurities, and I adored the way that Merrick 𝘢𝘯𝘥 his family was always there to reassure her. The family motto of “Work Hard, Love Harder” was in full affect with sweet and spicy moments, witty banter, some laugh out loud moments, and so much love. Little Blakely was back to steal scenes with her humor 😂, and the soul-deep twin bond between Merrick and Maverick was one of my favorite parts of the book. The group texts and family dinners were perfection. I really didn’t want to say goodbye to the Kincaids, and that amazing Bonus Scene gave me so much hope and happiness! Don’t miss out on the last Kincaid Brother!!😍

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

This heartfelt and adorable love story had me grinning from ear to ear, a delectable and charismatic weaving of heart, humor, family and heat that “caught” me from their first interaction and wrapped me in a warm hug until the end.

This is Courtney and Merrick story and it deserves all the stars in the sky!

Courtney needs a break, she is tired of her mother droning on about her not having a boyfriend, so much so she blurts out in the heat of the moment that she is dating Merrick Kincaid. A lie, to get her mother off her back, except she is overheard by her employer, Jordyn, Merrick Kincaid’s sister-in-law. And then Merrick himself shows up at the shop and finds out about her lie to her mother only to go all in on a fake relationship with her for the next three months until her younger sister gets married.

Merrick has grown up with a family motto of “Work hard, love harder.” So when he see that the beautiful Courtney needs him, he is all in to help her. But since they need this to look real, Merrick treats her like he would a real girlfriend.

But what will happen when all the pretending becomes to start to feel real? Will they both want to stay real together? You will need to read to get all the juicy, sweet and swoony details!

I absolutely LOVED Merrick and Courtney! These two are sweet, so entertaining and I couldn’t help but cheer them to get out of the friend zone. A fabulous conclusion to this wonderful series!

I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

I was simultaneously so excited for the release of Stay Real while also so sad to say goodbye to the Kincaid family.

Kaylee did an amazing job with Merrick’s story. Being the last brother to find his HEA, I wasn’t sure if she would be able to top her previous Kincaid stories.

Merrick may have been the last single brother, but he knew he still wanted a forever love. He just wasn’t looking for it. Being raised right, he is a genuinely good guy. When he has the chance to help out Courtney, he doesn’t hesitate. What harm can come from faking a relationship? Apparently nothing, unless your heart gets involved. Unwilling to let his heart be broken, he refused to let Courtney go when their expiration date arrived.

Courtney was just tired. Tired of her mother hounding her to find a man and live happily ever after. After finally having enough, a ridiculous lie comes out of her mouth in hopes that with give her some reprieve from her mothers incessant badgering. Accepting the help given to her may have been a silly thing to do, especially when she knew her heart would end up hurt, she accepted anyway. Breaking her heart felt like the right thing to do, but she was lucky Merrick wouldn’t let that happen.

Kaylee…thank you for giving us the Kincaid brothers. These stories are amazing and get me all up in me feels whenever I read them.

I cannot wait to see what you are able to give us next. The countdown is on until your next release!

A fabulous conclusion to a wonderful series

I love the Kincaid brothers… all of them. This is an incredible series and I am so sorry to see it end. However, ending with a hero like Merrick makes the conclusion sweet. Merrick is just as loyal, protective, and compassionate as his brothers. As the youngest of the nine, he has that unwavering belief in love he’s watched his brothers find. He just didn’t think it was his time yet; he has a lot of living to do. When he learns Courtney used his name as a fake boyfriend to keep her mother off her back about finding a man, he’s immediately in to help her. Courtney is more of a stay-at-home and read-a-book, than a let ’s-go-party woman. She’s a bit shy and doesn’t like to put herself in awkward social situations even though her mother wants her to date and find a man like her younger sister has. The two seem like an unlikely couple, until they get to know one another.

I LOVE Kaylee Ryan’s stories, each one is full of hope, kindness, love, and just the right amount of steam. I love Kaylee Ryan’s characters, they are warm, sweet, caring, and personable. So easy to fall head-over-heels for. No matter what, you know the characters will be there for each other and care for one another. The Kincaid family motto of “work hard, love harder” is evident in every book in this series. Stay Real is a perfect conclusion. I would be hard-pressed to pick one of the brothers as a favorite because every one of them has touched me and their stories have captivated me. I can’t wait to see what small town Ms. Ryan takes us to next!

Throughout this series, we have seen each Kincaid brother find and fall for the woman who seemed to be their soulmate. I have been waiting for Merrick's story since day one because there was something about him that drew me to him. While reading Stay Real I wanted to savor every page since it was the last book in the Kincaid Brothers series, however, that did not happen. I needed to see what was going to happen between Merrick and Courtney.
Ms. Ryan delivers a story that will make you fall for Merrick because he is the perfect fake boyfriend and Courtney is the girl we all can relate to. They have this chemistry that seems to grow stronger and stronger with every touch, wink and smile as well as the sweet talk by Merrick. The fake relationship that he agreed to help Courtney quickly turned into something more that everyone could see however the two of them seemed to have blinders on. The Kincaid brothers and their significant others saw the spark ignite into a full-blown fire.
I loved watching their friendship blossom into a love that saw Merrick being patient with Courtney until she realized that what they had was so much more.
Ms. Ryan did an amazing job of writing a captivating, magical storyline which was a joy to read. I am sad to see this series come to an end but ending it with Merrick was the perfect way.

STAY REAL By Kaylee Ryan

😊What i liked -

What an ending to the Kincaid brothers! Courtney has worked for Merrick’s sister-in-law for a while now, unsure of what she wants to do in her career and pressured by her mother to find the love of her life young. With her sister’s wedding coming up and dateless, she blurts out that she’s actually dating Merrick after looking at him in a photo, and when her boss confronts her about it, Merrick overhears and decides to play along and join a fake relationship. As these two spend time together though, they start to blur the lines between real and fake, and the chemistry between them is off the charts and the relationship really flows organically and healthy. I was a little frustrated with Courtney, from being very insistent that Merrick could back out in the beginning, to the point that I wish he would have, but then turning that into the relationship having an expiration date of sorts, even though it’s so clear that they are in a real relationship when things took a turn. Nonetheless, I was so glad that Merrick steps up and really shows her that they are real and they both get the HEA they deserve. I really hope based off the ending of this book that we get a possible second-generation series with the kids?!

I adored Merrick and Courtney. Helping her out for a few months changes his life forever and it was so awesome to see him fall. I knew he would be sweet and attentive because his parents raised all of his brothers and him to be that way.

When he overhears the end of a conversation, he immediately agreed to be her fake boyfriend. She gives him multiple chances to back out but he never takes the bait (he wanted to be with her, imo). As they spend time together, to make it believable, they both start wanting it to be real, but don’t want to ruin what they have so neither says anything. His conversation with his twin was fantastic and telling in so many ways.

Courtney just wanted her mom to get off her case about having a man in her life, so she blurted it she was dating Merrick. I loved their interactions and flirting. Their open conversations were great too. She has self esteem issues and can’t believe he actually wants to be with her.

Third was a fabulous, yet bittersweet conclusion to the Kincaid brothers series. I’m hoping the ending is indicating that we haven’t actually seen the end of this family. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
