HUSH HUSH: is a steamy full length New Adult & College Romance Novel by new to me author Lucia Franco.
5+++++ STARS!! 2019 FAVOURITE BOOK!!
This book is undeniably unputdownable and unique in every sense. This is not just your ordinary romance. It's insanely addictive and extremely intense.
This isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. And that’s ok too! But as you can see I loved it!!
STOP THE BUS!! HOLY SHIT THIS WAS HOT!!🔥🔥This is going to be one of the hardest reviews I've ever had to write up!! First off that synopsis is soooooo freaking vague it's laughable, which just adds to the whole mystery of this story. One piece of advice, go into this one blind, you'll thank me for it later!! But before jumping into this leave your morals at the door because this will shove at all your comfort zones like no other book!! For me this is truly how a forbidden book should be written!!
Once I started this I couldn't put it down..Like I literally couldn't..I even told the partner to go fishing (says me never)!! Just so I could read this in peace, without any interruptions!! I devoured it, Inhaled it, Loved it!! This book was beyond scorching, everything about our silver fox James got me hot, bothered and combusting!!
We're introduced to college student Aubrey Adams just shy of her twenty first birthday and her bestie Natalie. Aubrey is attending Fordham University on a full scholarship, majoring in Developmental Sociology, she's had to claw her way through life, coming from nothing, losing both parents tragically and raised single handedly by her ageing grandmother, life hasn't been a bunch of roses for our heroine.
Between nannying and washing and folding strangers clothes at the local laundromat and scrimping every penny she can to send to her grammy, she struggles to keep her head above water in the daily rat race of New York City. Until her bestie comes up with a solution to all her money woes..But at what cost?? Is she about to sell her soul to the devil??
Her bestie makes unbelievable money at a high end establishment at Sanctuary Cove which caters to the elite. This book was disgusting, not because the older man and younger women trope and trust me I have no problem with that, I in fact find it hot but what's disgusting was the heroine. First of all, this book got so much hype after the cover reveal and I agree, the cover is gorgeous but the story is shit. We dont get to see the hero till 30% of the book, and I couldnt connect with the heroine.
The plot is so common, if you read kinky daddy books then this book ll be the same for you...but with more drama and an annoying heroine. How Dare Audery insult James's wife because she cant satisfy her husband. That scene was so disgusting, I know that his wife is not a saint and also did things that she shouldnt have, but thats between A HUSBAND AND HIS WIFE! Audery is the third person here....she should be disgusted by herself and not insult someone's wife.
Audery sleeps with any man she sees, she even took the job of a prostitute so she can support her grandmother but the fact that she didnt do anything for her granny after she started earning money is laugh worthy. and her friend natelia is worse, as a friend who even suggests to prostitute? Now I dont have any problem towards people who does this job, because many has valid reasons to do so but here Audery wants to take this job for her grandmother and didnt even do anything except take her to dinner once. Like girl...No!
James on the other hand is an older dude who likes kinky shit but his wife doesnt like his choice.....I mean no wife would like to be spanked or chocked in their 50s. I couldnt sympathise with James and his situation because his excuse for cheating was shit.
he even watches another man fuck Audery, okay now thats hot! the chemistry was fire between
them and if you just read it like a normal book, you might enjoy it. But as for me...i am a deep thinker and hate most of the book cuz its so unrealistic. So this book was a big no no for me cuz both hero and heroine annoyed me to death.

I have never hated a main character this much before. This disgusting excuse of a human being was even able to beat America Singer as my most hated female lead of all time. If you want to read about a lying, manipulative, sorry excuse of a woman “falling in love” with a lying, manipulative, sorry excuse of a man then this is the book for you. Enjoy.

So, this review took me much longer than expected. Complete, utter disappointment isn’t accurate enough to describe my thoughts or feelings on this. Hush, Hush is horrendous to read. Sex workers are shamed and criticised; drugs are abused to cope with sexual situations that border sexual assault, with the acts glamourised to somehow excuse everyone’s behaviours; everyone’s emotions are belittled over and over; constant lies and secrets infiltrate every scenario because the characters are too childish to function somewhat normally for two seconds. It made me so uncomfortable to read this toxic representation of supposed romance.
I’m disheartened by this hero and heroine’s characterisation, and some low rated reviews on this “romance” because they perpetuate an enormous societal issue: slut shaming. Everyone, it’s fucking 2019 (incase you forgot), though we continue to criticise sex workers and women’s sexuality, fiction or reality. Sex workers become “others” without morals, dignity or integrity and somehow that allows us “normals” to have authority to ridicule someone’s life choices? How do sex workers differ from us, when we both effectively sell our time and bodies for labour in exchange for money and goods? Our word choice carries connotations that affect others’ understanding of messages and approaches to subjects. Calling the heroine a slut, whore or prostitute (derogatorily) almost every chapter dehumanises her and distances us “normal women” by forcing us into bad girl versus good girl contests. Referring to female sex workers as prostitutes isn’t uncommon, but this gross trend enforces a solemn reminder how terrible our understanding of this industry is.
“It's time to pregame,” she says dropping a pill into my hand. “We're celebrating this birthday in true New York City fashion—with a few shots and some Molly.”
Substance abuse is an issue within most societies and the author’s casual, unaffected approach to opioid reliance and glamorisation of said usage without significant commentary is distressing. Furthermore, the reliance is encouraged because the heroine isn't comfortable with fucking strangers—there’s no dubious consent here. She doesn’t want to fuck everyone, consumed by anxiety despite her actions, but she’s forced into sitautions that push her into washing down percoset with wine because she’s desperate to earn quick money. It is more worrisome that there’s limited discussion on soft or hard limits with clients—filling in some questionnaire isn’t enough when you don’t know your client, or even meet them beforehand. I can’t even begin to explain the dangers that surround this scenario, especially as violence against sex workers is at an increase.
“The universe is cruel for putting us together, but I don’t feel bad because what I feel when I’m with you is what I’ve been wanting all along, I just never knew it until I met you.”
Aubrey Abrams is dull and vain; too self-absorbed, floating within a conceited bubble to consider how her constant lies belittle everyone’s feelings, or how her selfish actions make an impact on their lives in irrevocable, significant ways. She’s a compulsive liar, an unapologetic cheater and slut-shamer extraordinaire—a shit human really with little, if any, regret. For example, when Aubrey’s asked to be exclusive with a specific client, in exchange for millions of dollars, she accepts but without any intention of honouring the conditions: to stop dating her boyfriend and escorting. However, when the truth is unveiled, she has the audacity to accuse this client of acting unreasonable and controlling. She’s unconcerned with hurting this client and rather than feel remorse for cheating on Daniel, her boyfriend (who admitted to having been cheated on before), she’s more concerned about Natalie’s reaction. Zero self-awareness, much?
I know I should look at the dissolution of our clandestine agreement as a blessing in disguise, but it’s also undeniably heartbreaking. We were hopeless from the start.
Rude doesn’t begin to cover the horrid nature of James Riviera, an abhorrent hero with a sexist attitude used so casually, it is outright sickening. James’ unfortunate loveless marriage doesn’t condone his continuous blatant cheating, an act fuelled by an unloving wife with a hate for kink; nor does it excuse his blasé usage of sexist slurs like slut or whore to belittle Aubrey, an escort who doesn’t adhere to his conditions. I find it ironic that James reiterates the values of family, but does a shit effort at following through with said announcements of significance by cheating on his wife (she isn’t innocent in this, however it doesn’t excuse his behaviour) and lying to his daughter.
Hush, Hush could’ve delivered a narrative that dismembered misinformed criticisms of escorting created and supported by sexism. Instead, it shames women’s life choices and sexuality; glamourises substance abuse; condones cheating (there’s a massive lack of self-reflection on this) within a myriad of various other issues that makes this a backwards narrative. Sex work becomes a convenient excuse to purport a forbidden age-gap romance and create a suitable enough reason to introduce drama. Hush, Hush also had the slowest introduction between the two leading characters and was filled with useless conversations that held no plot importance whatsoever—it was boring filler. I’m sorry.

Hush, Hush gave us a seductive, forbidden world and a taste of what’s it’s like to have everything your heart's desire and still at the same time have nothing at all. Money, power, sex, desire, betrayal, you name it…. And this story had it.
Twenty one year old Aubrey is your average College girl. She has a best friend who adores her, a grandmother who would give her the shirt off her back, and she’s working two jobs to help support herself and her grandmother. Thinking about her future and what she’s going to do after she graduates, Aubrey knows that the financial road is going to be a long and hard one. When she’s presented with an opportunity to make a lot of money, life as she knows it will never be the same especially with the one condition that’s required of her: Leave your morals at the door.
I’m going to be really honest right now and say that not only did I struggle with this book, I struggled with rating this as well. I had a hard time getting into this one up until I reached the 57% mark and most of it had to do with the heroine Aubrey. I couldn’t connect with her on any level and I found her annoying if I’m being honest. Some of her actions not only disappointed me, but I was also angry and the only saving grace for me, was when the hero was introduced and a secret was revealed.
I’m a huge fan of this author and even though I was expecting something different with this book, I have to say that she really kept me intrigued towards the end and I have to give her credit for that. I didn’t love this one as much as I was hoping to but what didn’t work for me, might work for someone else.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Yep, that's right. My morals actually couldn't give a damn less about some of the more over the line elements. Lucia Franco hit this one right on the head. Having a background with Manhattan and the powerful there, I was almost suspicious how she nailed the way a certain echelon of the city truly does work.
But enough about that - I'm too all consumed by James Riviera, the sexiest Silver Fox I've ever come across! I loved how commanding he was, I loved how suave he was, I melted over his tattoos and their meanings. I had absolutely no problem with the age gap - when you find someone that is the one you connect with that's the most valuable commodity there is. And Aubrey and James connected completely.
Aubrey is the heroine here. She's on a full ride at Fordham and rooms with Natalie, her absolute bestie. Where Natalie comes from a rich family and doesn't struggle, Aubrey tolls away working at a laundromat and as a nanny and scrimps by to make ends meet. She also tries to take care of her grammy, the only family she has. While Nat refuses to take money from her family, she makes out really well as a 'shot girl' or so Aubrey believes. As Aubrey struggles more to make ends meet, Nat finally reveals the true source of her income and presents Aubrey with the same working opportunity she has.
And that is how Aubrey comes to meet James Riviera. He may be 52 to her 21 but the two of them have insane attraction and connect immediately. And although this story would be controversial for many, I absolutely rooted for these two to end up together. James is sex on a stick and kinky to boot, a complete alpha with a touch of sweet on the side.
I loved his tattoos and how they were a record of memories and moments in his life.
"Memories are priceless to me. Maybe years from now you'll come back here, and it'll spark a reminder of our time together. You may not remember everything that happened this day, but you'll feel it in your heart. Money can buy a lot of things, but it can't buy moments, and those are priceless."
But as delicious as James and Aubrey's storyline is, there are some massive surprises in this one and some huge obstacles that I honestly didn't see a way out of. Aubrey digs herself into too many lies, complications and too many overlapping stories and when the author throws the twist in, well it all results in one hell of a messy situation. I liked Aubrey in a sense for James but I fully admit she made a lot of wrong turns and if the author didn't have me so fully, I might not have forgiven her for some of her 'mistakes'. To say they were pretty big ones would be an understatement!
This is a book that it's best to go in blind to. It'll pull you in and then take you deeper. At least that was my experience. And because of my absolute blind love for James and massive crush, I'm absolutely biased and have to give this book *****5 stars x 2! Here's to all the moments and memories. And a silver fox I won't forget.

This one is hard for me to rate. While I didn't love the story and can definitely see why people have problems with it, I was completely addicted and actually wanted the couple to find their HEA. The ending did wrap up wayyyyy to quickly and I didn't like how hypocritical he was with her line of work (he was a client, but then he wants her to quit and demeans her for her line of work). There is also cheating in here and I didn't think the cheating on her part was necessary considering she didn't even like her boyfriend. I don't mind cheating that's done for a reason (if that makes sense? It has to be believable in the book (NOT THAT IT'S OKAY IN REAL LIFE)). In here, the heroine just dragged a different guy along and hurt him, which I found very selfish of her. But, like I said, I found myself actually rooting for them as a couple and wanted them to work. So, yeah, my feelings are very conflicted about this one!

I’m not going to lie, this one was a little too messy for me. It took me a while for Aubrey to grow on me, but by the end she did. It was one of those books I didn’t want to stop reading. I was enthralled and the writing was fantastic. I’ll definitely be reading more by this author and I 100% need to know what happens with this character so I’ll be reading ‘Say Yes’ soon. I have a feeling I’ll enjoy that one much more!

Overall Opinion: This was enjoyable. I actually like escort type stories (or f-buddy to more), so this wasn’t too far out of my norm. It has cheating — so beware those of you that have that as a hard limit. I thought the pacing felt off and the ending was not nearly enough. The conflict was resolved in the epilogue!! I thought I saw that there is an extended epilogue or a novella that goes along with this that I’m going to look for because I’m rather frustrated with how little of closure we actually got. However, I would recommend this for anyone that likes a forbidden romance with an significant age gap that has no problem with cheating.
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Aubrey and James’s story. Aubrey is a struggling college senior that cares for her elderly grandmother financially. This is going to be one of my favorite reads of 2024. I know it's only January, but I couldn't have loved this book more. It blew my expectations out of the water. Lucia Franco does forbidden/taboo romance like nobody else. I can't wait to see what she releases next.

I must say that I really enjoyed this book and the story. The sexual tension was good and the scenes were pretty hot. James is smoldering sexy and he knows how to control and command a scene without making it feel wrong or humiliating. The writing has a lot of sass and surprisingly a lot of heart. There is really good development. There are really nice secondary characters as well.
I really only have two complaints about this book. Aubrey... I actually wasn't all that fond of her, I didn't hate her or anything like that, she just was an ok kind of heroine to me. Secondly, the plot was a typical billionaire alpha hero-struggling college student forbidden age gap romance. I just expected something more original from my favorite author; I truly enjoyed it, nevertheless.

Aubrey and Nat were hilarious. I loved their personalities and stories. I liked Aubrey’s backstory and everything. But I got nothing from the the romance aspect. (Except from Aubrey and Christine’s scene)
There was no mention of the guy and I lost interest. The book’s too long for me to be bothered. I liked the premise of the book but I was getting impatient. There were times where there was unnecessary detail and I’m like ?? Why did you tell me that? I did skim a lot but it still didn’t get to the juicy bits. I mean c’mon 30% is a lot to at least mention his name!
So I’m undecided on the rating and it’s probably going to stay that way.

I'll give you a heads up. This book has been a roller coaster ride, one I don't regret at all. By rating it 5, I do not support young girls and women selling their bodies for a living, escorting men their dad's age and drinking, smoking or doing drugs. The point of reading isn't to judge characters for what they do, but rather understand where they are coming from and why they make the decisions they make. I don't like the lifestyle these girls live, but it's a sad reality for many people. Instead of scowling at it, I tried to comprehend their deeds.
This book had been on my recommendations since forever but I never felt like reading it. As opposed to what I thought, it's not a typical club setting. I was on the edge of my seat and never had a dull moment. The story is about a girl, Aubrey Abrams, who works her arse off to support herself and her Grammy, the only family she has left. Her friend, Natalie, introduces her to the world of prostitution and she can't refuse because all the luxury she ever dreamed of could be on her fingertips with the money on the table and also, her Grammy's life could get easier. The story escalates from there.
The things I abso-freaking-lutely loved about this book are as follows:
🍇The leads don't meet as soon as the book begins its course. That's when you know the writer is really putting efforts into the story and not skipping to the adrenaline.
🍇In the beginning, the way Aubrey and Natalie's bond is set down is just amazing! Never had a friendship been so well-written in romance books. The first time I wasn't hurrying for the leads to meet.
🍇Aubrey doesn't agree to escorting as soon as the offer is on the table. She takes time to think, contrary to 'naive' girls who agree readily. Her thoughts were so well put, I couldn't find an error.
🍇The way leads meet is simple, yet one of the best encounters I've come across.
🍇There were soooo many things beautifully written! For example, "He's the flame on the tip of the arrow that's aimed right at my heart. I want to burn alive with him." Also, when James talks about moments and memories, it screams maturity.
🍇The introspective side of Aub was executed well, especially towards the end. The second half holds a special place in my heart. After all, we all appreciate characters who are ready to look back at their mistakes and be a better person.

Honestly, I like age gaps that seem practical. A 20+ age gap is not really my thing, but I was able to ignore it with this one.
The escorting world is not as glamourous as it is shown. But it's fiction in the end. Everyone wants to live in a dreamland, so I won't deduct stars for that.
I'm honestly in love with the author. Her writing style was perfectly elaborative, with good twists. Definitely a must read for romance and erotica lovers. You'll learn and go through a lot with this one. I freaking cried for a book in a long time, so that says something. The cover seems perfectly in accordance with what we get to see in this book!

Not sure where to begin. This wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t good. It starts super duper slow. The hero is not even introduced until about 30%. The sex is hot, it’s smutty as hell. And I loved that the heroine loved sex and was not ashamed to have lots of it, with and without the hero. Other than that, this was a hot mess. Everyone, including the 50 something year old hero sounds like they’re teenagers. I laughed a lot at some of the ridiculous dialogue. The twist I saw it right away. And the author desperately needs a good editor/proofreader cause there’s tons of spelling and grammar errors.
I don’t really care much about her being an escort, I’ve read some amazing books before where the h is an escort. Or even the age difference, I guess it is kinda yuck but to each, at least she’s not underage. I just felt the book was all over the place and lacked quality. The dialogue (and the plot for that matter) was haphazardly put together, there are so many plot holes and contradictions, the characters lack depth and were all unlikeable, except for the grandma. But Aubrey, James, Natalie, Daniel were all meh and jerks so I couldn’t connect with them or felt anything for them. The ending is also very HFN, there isn’t really any indication of how they will really fare in the future.

It went beyond my expectations and so much more. I mean this book was EVERYTHING!!

Honestly I could gush about this story and characters all day.
I love forbidden and I absolutely love an age-gap books and Lucia Franco has by far written one of the best one.
I swooned, I laughed-out-loud, I needed a cold shower, I laughed some more, I swooned even harder and I ugly cried. Those last chapters were so hard to read! 💔
Lucia not only wrote the most swoon worthy hero in James, but she wrote one of the BEST friendships ever. Aubrey and Natalie are FRIENDSHIP GOALS and I was so invested in them both that when shit hit the fan my heart broke for Natalie and their friendship.

Oh boy! This book completely wrecked me, and I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. It was absolutely nothing like I was expecting, yet it was everything I never knew I needed. While I felt it was slightly slow to get going, once it did, there was no stopping. I stayed up until 2am this morning to finish it because I simply couldn’t tear my eyes away.

I read this book in a desperate attempt to take myself out of a weeks long book slump and boy did it deliver. It delivered on everything I needed and some things that I didn't even knew I needed.
First, I can't believe this is my first Lucia Franco book, and it sure as hell won't be my last, because WOW.
If you follow my review, you know I love me a sex positive FMC. I love a woman who unapologetically owns what she loves and doesn't shame it or try to find a name or excuse for it. And I absolutely loved Aubrey. With only her grammy left as living family, Aubrey struggles to make ends meet with several jobs to get her through school. She's focused on school and graduation and has no time for men outside of an orgasm they can offer. She lives with her wealthy best friend, who lives a luxurious life style that she shares with her friend. But little does Aubrey know how she affords those things when she says she doesn't want to touch the trust from her family.
An exclusive escort for the rich and entitled, in a secret club who only the elusive few 1% can afford offers a solution she never knew she would entertain. But the money is too good to say no to. I have to admit that as much as I loved Aubrey, I disliked her relationship with Daniel. While I get why she clung to him, and she really opens up about it in the end, I also disliked it. It was especially frustrating knowing how Daniel shared why his previous relationship fell apart with her and she still made the choices she did. To be honest, the cheating in this book didn't bother me. I knew what I was going into, and I knew this book would be deeply rooted in the gray.
I loved the forbidden romance and age gap between Aubrey and James. I loved his dominance as much as I loved her hidden fragility. When I tell you I devoured this book, I mean I devoured this book in one sitting. I couldn't stop reading. I was immediately immersed and obsessed. And while I didn't love some of the choices these two made, I simply loved them too much to care.

I read this book in a desperate attempt to take myself out of a weeks long book slump and boy did it deliver. It delivered on everything I needed and some things that I didn't even knew I needed.
First, I can't believe this is my first Lucia Franco book, and it sure as hell won't be my last, because WOW.

What a heart wrenching ride!
It is true that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but Lucia tested my limits with this book..in a good way. I must admit at first it was touch, but I pulled up my big girl panties and trusted Lucia. She did not disappoint. I love James so much! Of course I didn’t approve of things both he and Aub did, but these kinds of books are the reason I’m a reader. If I wanted something fluffy and safe then I never would have agreed to this book, but I knew any story in Lucia’s Head would take me to those heights that I crave as a reader. Can I just say the steam factor on this one is off the charts—HOT. So so good!!

Warning! Please don’t read this book if cheating and high price escort aren’t your thing because you’re just gonna hate it.
But for the morally corrupt this is our cup of tea! My gosh, this book is amazing. It’s a favorite of mine.
