Why do I feel like I’m making a deal with the devil?”
“I’m surely no angel, sweetheart.
The Trouble with Gravity is hands down one of my favorite reads from KK Allen ever—and the best in the Gravity Series (IMO). I’ve always loved grabbing a book from KK because she writes beautifully, but her stories are also moving and realistic, even if they are fiction… and The Trouble with Gravity was all that and so much more! From the moment I started reading, I was glued to my seat! Since it was nearly 3 am when I finished reading this one, I was absolutely exhausted, but it was oooohhhhh sooooooo worth the extra caffeine I needed to get through my day! KK delivered a beautifully written romance that is angsty, seXXXy 😉, witty and sweet. I swooned big time for these characters and the plot was wonderfully entertaining. I loved the realism and depth of character in this particular story and find KK is a master at delivering strong heroines and heroes who make you hot under the collar! Kia was an amazing heroine!!! She showed strength and beauty, grace and stubbornness with equal measure. And while her backstory broke my heart, her drive to overcome the obstacles in her past made her absolutely outstanding. And Sebastian?! Jesus, I needed a hero just like him in my life. KK couldn’t have written a more perfect counterpart for this wildly beautiful sports/contemporary romance! The chemistry between this pair is damn near tangible and it made for a delicious, slow-burn romance which I can’t wait to read again… and again… If you do nothing else, BUY THIS BOOK!!! You’ll be starting a guaranteed five-star read and thanking those of us who insisted you pick it up immediately.

What is wrong with this book? I love KK Allen Gravity series. Love them, except The Trouble with Gravity. Where is the spark? Where is the heat? Where is the explosive chemistry? I am sad to say Trouble with Gravity is a trouble. Not very bad, but it does not manage to keep up with the predecessor.
The chemistry between Kai and Sebastian is guarded. I feel like two of them have no deeper, vulnerable connection. Just 2 people, who just happened to work together and hook up. Even their emotional baggage is.. well... not big a deal. The twist is so immature and predictable. There is also none of that forbidden romance in it.
The whole experience is OK read, nothing capture my heart.

I had grateful literary surprises in 2019, and surely knowing the writing of author K.K. Allen was one of them. The Trouble with Gravity is a book that captivated me from start to finish with its fantastic writing and well-developed story. The book os fantastic and I found myself in love with this story.
Kai is a protagonist that I just loved. A character who has a traumatic past but was brave enough to face her fears to achieve her dreams and embrace the opportunity to grow in her career. Sebastian is a character that was conquering me little by little with each page until the moment came that he completely conquered me. He might be a jerk at times, but he has a heart of gold and the dedication to helping Kai cope with his fear made me fall in love with. him.
Kai and Sebastian both have their past traumas and throughout the book we can see that they are helping each other to heal past wounds and face their fears. I think my favorite part of the book was the way the author dealt with the relationship between these two, it all happened at the right time and in a natural way.
Honestly The Trouble with Gravity is a fantastic book from start to finish and I have nothing that I didn't like about this story. I just loved this book.

When I get through the Prologue and I'm already an emotional mess, then I know the story is going to grip me all the way through. The Trouble with Gravity is about Sebastian and Kai who have both experienced some setbacks in life and in different ways are trying to confront their fears/mistakes/failures. They don't much like each other at first and that adds a good amount of tension to the story.
Kai gets hired to dance in the last run of Sebastian's broadway show and so in a sense, he is her boss.... I love the forbidden feeling of the story. And there were points where I needed to stop because I was afraid of what was coming next.
And with all of the books in this series, you get dance videos! I can't tell you how much I think that adds to visualizing the show in my mind.

I opened this on an airplane and thought I'd read a couple of pages. I was in no way ready for this book! KK Allen grabbed me with her opening scene and never let me go.
This story is emotional and funny and electric and heartwarming too. It's a tale about growth and self-healing and taking chances and believing in yourself. (Those last two sentences have a lot of 'ands' but I just couldn't stop typing! Ha!)
An original storyline that hooks you from the start, KK Allen brings an emotional punch with The Trouble with Gravity.
Loved it.

Oh man, when the prologue immediately pulls at the heart string you know you’re in for a good read!
Kai has just been offered a part in a theatre production that has come at the perfect time for her. The problem? She has to spend 7 months on a cruise ship and she is terrified of getting back on the water after a sailing accident when she was a child. She is a strong, determined character and you are able to instantly connect with her.
Sebastian was a bit harder to get a read on in the beginning. He has the reputation of the bad boy of Broadway but you get the feeling it is not an entirely deserved title and something happened in his past to turn him into this closed off person.
I wouldn’t call Kai and Sebastian enemies but they are definitely not friends, so it is more like an acquaintances-to-lovers story if that’s a thing? They have instant chemistry and constant flirty banter; it’s just a matter of who succumbs to it first! I love that they didn’t just straight away fall in love, it was a slow burn romance and felt very real.
The Trouble with Gravity was a unique and refreshing story, full of so much emotion that really draws you in to Kai and Sebastian’s story and makes you feel all the feels. I also really liked the dance scenes throughout!
I didn’t actually realise it was part of a series (even though each can be read as a standalone) so now I need to read them all!!!

The Gravity series is one of my favorite series to date. And they keep on getting better with each book. The Trouble With Gravity is one of my favorites.
Sebastian and Kai’s journey is one that will definitely pull at your heart. They are both broken for different reasons and when they meet their is this instant connection that they both are trying to fight.
I love how K.K. Allen takes her readers on this incredible journey that’s filled with raw emotions and lessons of how to face your fears and how to love.

The Trouble With Gravity is another ground shaking addition to KK Allen's Gravity series. Kai and Sebastian sucked me in from the first word and kept me up way past my bedtime several times. I'm struggling to even find the words to express how much I loved this story! It's just WOW! The emotions, the dancing, the heart. It all bleeds off the pages in an honest and real way. This was the perfect book to start my 2020 reading off with!

I don't know what is it about this series but gosh I could not love it more. You know what? I do know, I know exactly what it is.. it's this magnificent dance world that K. K. has created. This series is unlike anything I've ever read and I cannot get enough of it. Each new couple steals my heart and I'm always immersed in them and in this fantastic dance world combined with something else whether it's sports, music, theater. K. K. could keep writing in this world FOREVER and I'd be the happiest gal for it.
Kai made me a fan of her from the get-go. The prologue broke my heart but each new chapter I read and as I got to see her deal with everything happening in her life, she showed me just how great and strong she is. Sebastian was a straighup jerk in the beginning but I gotta be honest I feel a little in love with him at first glimpse. And you know what I loved? That Kai did not. I love how she stood up to him and gave him a run for his money... I loved their little banter and how even in the very beginning without being anything at all they were already there for each other.
These two characters both have scars... old scars but ones that are still affecting their present and I loved how much they helped each other deal with them and making each other stronger for it. It was very fun, sexy and heartwarming watching these two go from "enemies" to friends to lovers. I love relationships that are a built on a strong friendship foundation and these two built that and I loved reading every single second of it.
I honestly LOVED these two so hard. Their story was unique, it was refreshing and most of all it was beautiful. And for all of you who have been keeping up with this series, you'll get to see all past couples and ah it was amazing. K. K., I hope you're at least planning a novella for the other couple that came together in this book. I'd so devour that!
Although this book wasn't as angsty as the other ones in the series or K. K's books in general, it still heald so much emotion and gosh her words were so poetic and musically stunning, I just- trust me guys this book is gold!! You need to meet this heartwarming couple.
Seriously, if you love the dancing world and if you love threatre or music... you'll love this book! The whole series to be honest! So if you've haven't picked it up, please do yourself a favor and do so.

The Trouble with Gravity is a fantastic read and hands down, my favorite in the Gravity series. It has everything we love in a K.K. Allen book, but taken up a notch. She delivers an angsty, slow burn, enemies-to-lovers romance that leaves you craving more. This beautifully written and well developed story was touching, sweet, sexy and held me captivated from start to finish.
Kai's backstory is heartbreaking and raw. My heart still hurts for her. Having to endure such a traumatic event would be difficult at any age, but as a child it is even more devastating. To have your world ripped apart like that is just so annihilating. But she is strong, resilient and her drive to overcome her fears was absolutely admirable. And Sebastian? He is sexy as sin but a bit of an arrogant jerk. He too is scarred by his past, hence his ill-tempered persona, but deep down he has a heart of gold.
The relationship between these two got off to a rocky start, but it finally reached a turning point when they connected over their fears. Together they were able to face their demons and heal from these past wounds. And the chemistry? SIZZLING HOT! The two of them were absolutely electric. I enjoyed their heated moments just as much as I did the sweet and supportive ones. The only way to describe their love story is EPIC! K.K. Allen really delivers with this incredible journey that is brimming with all of the feels.

I really, really truly love this book and I think it is the best book in the series surrounding the dance complex Gravity so far.
I think K.K. Allen’s deflections on general anxiety is so spot on that I actually saw myself in the main character Kai. It was though but also amazing to read how she pulled herself out of the darkness by the help of Sebastian and fought to live out her dream.
I loved that the story was in three parts and that K. K. Allen had found a special place on YouTube where you can actually see dances to each title of the songs and feel how they might have been interpreted in the book. The dances came much more alive that way.
The main characters Kai and Sebastian are such a beautiful couple and they complement each other so brilliantly. He is an Australian singer/songwriter who wrote a beautiful musical that is threatened to be taken away from him and Kai is a dancer from Hawaii who fights every day to reach her dream and make her dad proud. They spark up a friendship that leads to more and together they fight the trouble with gravity, anxiety and villains who threaten their dreams and livelihoods.
I can definitely recommend this book if you love dance and music and creativity in general but also if you are just looking for a beautiful romance that you can’t help but love.

I loved this book. It goes on my all time favorite book list! I love how K.K. Allen takes readers on this incredible journey! It is filled with life lessons of how to face your fears, be honest and love hard.
Both Kia and Sebastian are broken for different reasons in life. Their connection is so intense and real. Kia is a dancer in Sebastian's musical. They are drawn to each other but build a friendship because they didn't want to cross the line with work and a relationship.
There are incredible supporting characters and storylines throughout the book. I could put it down. As Kia learns to face her fears and Sebastian helps, it is a beautiful story. So well written. It is a powerful book. Kia and Sebastian have intense chemistry that develops into something everyone wants. They fight and banter and bring out the best and worst in one another. As Sebastian faces his own issues, he sees Kia's strength and fights for her love.
I cannot say enough incredible words about this book except... go read it now. It takes your breathe away!

Their banter was everything…
Oh, don’t get me wrong. The sizzle between Kai and Bash was amazing too. The passion they had for their artistic careers spilled into every minute of their courtship so it was little wonder their relationship mirrored its highs and lows…
Theirs was a world of creativity, music and dance. The drama was beyond delicious as it simmered and bubbled through every page and chapter. For someone who hides from any type of drama when I’m reading, I can’t believe how addicted I am to this author’s Gravity stories. Kai and Bash’s courtship was hip-deep in tension and conflict and I savoured every word. What I will remember even more are the incredible conversations, the biting repartee, which was simply amazing between them. Snarky, funny, soul-searching, they were frenemies that fought each other while also watching each other’s back…
I can’t recommend Kai and Bash’s story enough – one of my favourites in a year of great reading!

REVIEW: 2.5-3 STARS
"He was my anchor in a raging storm."
My husbands says, "I thought you were reading!" To which, I replied, "I am!"! He then comes back with, "Is your book singing to you?" HA!! "Uh, no! Coordinating YouTube videos! So cool and so unique. I love it!" <-- That was how my book started out. I was so excited to jump into Kai and Sebastian's story because I just knew I was going to be swept up in another dance book with a love story that was going to make me smile.
Unfortunately, this one, for some reason, didn't read as smooth to me as the previous two books in this series - the flow felt off. What’s weird for me is I didn’t have a hard time picturing their love story playing out because her words were so descriptive, but I had a hard time feeling it which is awkward for me to say because KK Allen's always given me those physical feelings when I’ve read her books. I'm sad to say the butterflies didn't come until later in the book either. But, it was a slow awakening and a worthy growth that eventually emerged between these two. It’s not bad - because obviously she told a story that moved me and made me envision a love that spanned artistry and emotion, but I read more with fascination than with emotion this time. Again, not bad - just.....different.
The predictability was quite prevalent in this story - as if the writing was on the wall. It didn’t deter me from finishing, even though I could mostly figure out what was going to happen, but I found that there wasn't really a challenge to this story, so it read pretty easily. It was an easy going, sweet story about a young lady overcoming her past in order to move on in her career....oh, and throw in some drama. And then more drama. And then, sigh more. The drama at the boat was even ridiculous. By then, all this drama had piled up and it didn’t make sense to throw that much more at this couple - the groundwork was already set, the story was moving forward. Throwing more wrenches in didn’t do anything but pull me away from the built up passion I was finally feeling at this point in the story. The probable emotional impact I should've felt suffered greatly.
And then, the fight at the end was just STUPID. Kai's anger hindered my ability to connect with her even more - which I hated because I’d hoped by this point in the book that I would be more sympathetic toward her and would feel more for her plight. I just didn’t and I struggled with any sort of connection that I should have felt.

The push and pull in this one was easy to follow because it was marred by secrets and worry, fear and pain - the normal trajectory and natural push in a book. But, it just felt different for some reason. I am not even entirely sure I can put a finger on the disconnect for me. I loved the dynamic between Kai and Sebastian and I loved their camaraderie because they meshed well. They worked in silent tandem without even knowing it. However, their age and their actions didn’t line up for me. She felt/acted younger than the 28 we were told she was and some of Sebastian's inward thoughts proved a little feminine with his analogies, but he was definitely a man/jerk in other aspects. I saw flirting and fighting mirroring each other.
I told myself I needed to calm down enough to write my review and not sound so mad. While I know my emotions drive my reviews most of the time, I wanted to stress that this story was a good one. The writing is wonderful and easy to follow as usual, so I'm not sure I understand why it didn't work for me. I really love KK Allen's stories and her characters and I haven't really complained before. It's just that this one took a dip into the drama section and there was a bit much for me to enjoy without rolling my eyes or getting agitated. I hate being frustrated with a book that I had high hopes for, and I think this one left me just that way....frustrated.
My final thoughts: Kai's immaturity coupled with her brash attempts at being mad at Sebastian for stupid reasons, and then add to it the level of unnecessary drama - this one just didn’t work for me on so many levels. I think my favorite thing about this entire series is she's giving a voice to dancers and their sport, and she's giving me a visual for the artistry and the passion that flows through her characters' bodies. That's my favorite part. I have loved this entire series so far so I'm hoping this is a one-off for me. This was a true standalone in her Gravity Series and they are all able to be read in any order. This really was a good addition to her series...it just wasn't my favorite.

"He was my anchor in a raging storm."
My husbands says, "I thought you were reading!" To which, I replied, "I am!"! He then comes back with, "Is your book singing to you?" HA!! "Uh, no! Coordinating YouTube videos! So cool and so unique. I love it!" <-- That was how my book started out. I was so excited to jump into Kai and Sebastian's story because I just knew I was going to be swept up in another dance book with a love story that was going to make me smile.
Unfortunately, this one, for some reason, didn't read as smooth to me as the previous two books in this series - the flow felt off. What’s weird for me is I didn’t have a hard time picturing their love story playing out because her words were so descriptive, but I had a hard time feeling it which is awkward for me to say because KK Allen's always given me those physical feelings when I’ve read her books. I'm sad to say the butterflies didn't come until later in the book either. But, it was a slow awakening and a worthy growth that eventually emerged between these two. It’s not bad - because obviously she told a story that moved me and made me envision a love that spanned artistry and emotion, but I read more with fascination than with emotion this time. Again, not bad - just.....different.
The predictability was quite prevalent in this story - as if the writing was on the wall. It didn’t deter me from finishing, even though I could mostly figure out what was going to happen, but I found that there wasn't really a challenge to this story, so it read pretty easily. It was an easy going, sweet story about a young lady overcoming her past in order to move on in her career....oh, and throw in some drama. And then more drama. And then, sigh more. The drama at the boat was even ridiculous. Kai and Sebastian meet when he drowns her in a puddle with his motorcycle. Turns out, she's auditioning for his ex-Broadway show. And yes, he's also a jerk.
You ever get thrown into the middle of something and not have a clue what's going on? Well, Sebastian's life is like that. There's a lot of history between him and his partner, Dirk, and they sling mud like no other.
Kai's had drama in her life too but she hasn't had to confront it until she gets the part in Sebastian's show. If having to deal with her fears was the only drama she had to confront, things would be smooth sailing. 😉
I really enjoyed these two. It was wonderful having them open up to each other and just be there for one another. This series has one of my favorite things which is when the male character becomes head over heels for the female...I just love that.
I was happy that we got a bit of Theo and Lex in this story, as well as, some interesting updates for Shane (Will there be a book for him?).
I thought it ended well especially with the gift Sebastian gave Kai. The other parts with the something being in the sunset was pushing it.
There is a bonus chapter if you sign up for her newsletter. Thankfully, it was drama free.

January 2, 2020Whoops. Forgot that this writer is fond of smug, arrogant heroes and believes that humiliating a heroine and making her look foolish or inferior makes for compelling reading.
Nope.
No smart woman would find Sebastian's behaviour attractive, not if she had an ounce of self-respect. I don't give a toss how hot he is, pretty on the outside doesn't cancel out the ugly on the inside. I have no more time for another bawbag like 'ol "Bash." His type are a dime a dozen and I am over them and the dim-bulb doormats who fall for them. I had my fill recycled characters such as these this past year. Selections were so poor I missed my reading challenge goal due to frequent DNF's. Waste of time.
I made one resolution this year - to just say no to the shit that annoys me in my books. This book annoys me because A) Bash is a wanker. B) Kai has sudden BBS for him despite his utter lack of regard, telling me she's weak and not real bright, and C) the load of technical dancing terms and overblown dance scenes are part of what put me off the last KK Allen book I read. It's pointless detail most people don't give two shits about and that kind of self-indulgent writing really grates on my nerves. It's almost as irritating as the repeated shilling of other writers' work in one's own book and - big surprise here (not) - all of them leave much to be desired for this reader.
Time to update the 'avoid' list.

This book deserves so much more than just 5 ⭐️! Stars are not enough to describe just how amazing this story truly is! KK ALLEN captured just how healing love can be when you allow it into your life! Not just love from others but to have love for yourself!
Sebastian and Kai have very deep scars and through their friendship they learned to heal! Neither wanting more they navigated their new normal together and found ways to learn how to love who they are! If only the attraction could disappear then maybe they can end this gig unscathed but friendship is the perfect foundation for the “more” neither was looking for!
I fell hard for Kai’s strength and determination! When the world has tested her over and over again she got back up and didn’t let herself get sucked into despair! She also has amazing friends that hold her up and keep her going (it was so great reading about everyone again)! Sebastian is a grump of a man but he’s a man with a story and even when he doesn’t want to let Kai in her still finds himself drawn to her and we get to see that there is more to the man than leather and pain!

I had no idea what to expect going into this. A friend recommended trying KK and I was like sure since she has always been spot on in the past. I’m so glad I picked this up and kicking myself for not reading her before.
I devoured this story in one sitting. It’s rare that happens and a story need to pull me. From that prologue that sucked me and left me heartbroken to that very last page, I was captivated. It had everything a great romance should have from the slow burn buildup to the romance and a little mix of drama. The chemistry was off the charts, the back and forth banter of true enemies to lovers, and just a great story with amazing characters.
I can’t wait to pick up another book by KK in the future.

K.K. Allen choreographs another 5 star book in the gravity series. As you drift through the pages, Sebastian and Kai’s story will quickly become one of your favorites. I had tears flowing from the very beginning which instantly connects you with Kai.
Allen’s has a knack for pulling raw emotion from deep within her readers. Easily letting the reader connect with all of the characters.

The Trouble with Gravity has become my favorite book in the Gravity series! K. K. Allen has created a beautiful story filled with dance, music and love. Kai and Sebastian stole my heart right from their first encounter and I followed their fate with bated breath and a fast beating heart. Their story is full of emotions and electrifying chemistry. But the most important thing - this book and its characters wonderfully show that you can overpower the demons from your past.
Kai is the type of heroine that’s impossible not to love. This girl suffered a trauma, but she doesn't let it control her life. She’s brave and determined to make her dreams come true. She’s also friendly and kind-hearted. Sebastian on the other hand is a bad boy with a heart of gold. Although the first impression is not amazing, he comes off as cold, selfish and rude, we see something deep in him. And as it turns out after peeling the layers, all his arrogance and insolence is just a facade that he surrounded himself to avoid another disappointment.
Seemingly they are like fire and water - completely different. However, as both artists, they have a connection and each other's understanding. And they both experienced unpleasant situations that left a mark on them. That’s why they’re perfect to help each other heal. They’re both complex- on one hand they are both strong and confident, and on the other they’re both vulnerable. Their mutual support and protectiveness was incredible. And the love… gahhh, the love it all evolved into is indescribable.
The Trouble with Gravity is a heartwarming story about fighting with your demons and coming to terms with the past. It’s emotional, heart-gripping and steamy. K.K. Allen intertwined this incredible love story with dance and music, creating truly magical world that’s hard to leave. Highly recommend!

The Trouble with Gravity is standalone within the Gravity series. You do not need to read any of the other books to thoroughly enjoy this one.
Initially after reading this book, I truly loved it. Now that it's been about two weeks (completely forgot to write review), I have to say that my love for this book isn't quite as high. It's not to say that I still didn't really enjoy it, but I can sit back and relook at everything instead of that through that initial high you get when you finishing a really good read.
Kai and Sebastian's story is a sweet romance but it starts off very rocky. Sebastian is a selfish asshole who has been burned in the past. But he's allowed those past problems dictate a lot in his life, especially how he handles things. Kai has overcome some difficult times in her life but there are still things that she hasn't been able to face head on.
When Kai auditions for a part in production that Sebastian is running, she's not sure she is right for the part. Sebastian has his own personal reasons for wanting Kai to take the lead and Kai has her own fears to face in order to take part. However, they both aren't exactly what one would call friendly with one another. The encounters they have had are heated, at best. But at the time winds down, Kai finds herself seeing less reasons to not take the role.
Allen plays this story out at the perfect pace. Kai and Sebastian slowly to get to know one another on the professional level but also somewhere along the lines, it turns into a friendship. And then when they both stop fighting the chemistry between them, it becomes more.
I love that there aren't any clichés in this book and everything that happens feels so real. As I said - I don't have the same high as when I finished it, but I still remember so much about this book. And for me, that still makes for a great book to read.

K.K. Allen hit it out of the park with this one! In fact, this may be my favorite of the Gravity series!
Kai and Sebastian are like s’mores fresh off the fire: sweet, golden, decadent, and hot.
This has everything from sailing to broadway. From its heartbreaking beginning to its grand finale, it was impossible to put down.
I loved getting to see some old characters again, & witness that they’re still happy. I also liked that we got to leave the studio more in this one, (we really get to know it in the first two books so the cruise ship was a nice change of scenery).
As always, Ms Allen’s writing flows beautifully and is poetic. If someone loves a well written novel, then KK Allen is one of the best.

This is the story of a dancer, Kai, who gets her big break working on a jukebox show with the 'Bad boy of Broadway', Sebastian. I liked Kai, she has been through some really rough times but stays strong and keeps working toward her dreams. Sebastian was harder to like, he comes across as a huge jerk and took a while to show a nicer side. I felt like Kai should have held out longer before getting with Sebastian, he treated her pretty poorly for a long time. The pacing was too slow for what I wanted, I'm fine with a slow burn romance, but there wasn't much action to help move the story forward.
Overall it's an okay story with some well written romantic scenes.

I absolutely loved Kai & Sebastian!! They both were dealing with some old scars that had never healed (that prologue......it will break your heart!), but together they were able to help each other heal and move forward. I loved that it didn't happen quickly, but that it spanned the course of their time on the cruise ship. They were just wonderful together and the emotion put into this story was incredible. Lighter in angst than normal from the author, but the story between these characters will just draw you in and you won't want it to end.

This book definitely didn’t disappoint. I loved loved loved Kai and Sebastian! They balanced each other perfectly! They were each other’s gravity when fear took flight. This book is one click worthy for sure!

These books just get better and better! I love love LOVE when characters are attracted to each other right away, and then we get the delicious buildup of them finally getting together... YES!!! Kai and Sebastian are just purrfect for each other. I love them so much. Don't miss this sizzling enemies to friends to lovers romance. I'd give it ten stars if I could!
