This is my first book by the author and honestly I purchased it for 2 reasons. The cover (I know, I know) and it was part of the cocky hero club. The description on the book jacket had me really interested to read it so I started with this book first in the CHC. The quote I've included was very relatable. In that kind of situation, it's very easy to think what did I do wrong or what does she have that I don't. When a book is really great, I find myself either as one of the characters living the story or sitting at watching the story unfold. I literally climb into the book world. I climbed into this book world. I read this book slowly because I didn't want it to end. 5 stars

    I love a good Christopher Harlan story and this one was good. When your job depends on keeping secrets, information falling into your lap at every turn, learning when to use it (or not) becomes the most important thing you will do. Dylan has what it takes to be good at what he does but what happens when he falls for the absolutely last person he should fall for. Will he give everything up to get the girl, or will he give up the girl to keep what he's worked so hard for?

    Dylan Murphy was definitely a candidate for the Cocky Hero Club. With his swoon worthy good looks, sexy deep voice and penetrating blue eyes, he has what it takes to make any woman stop and stare. He is also outgoing, charismatic, engaging and always puts other people first. Besides all of that, he proudly served his country, which makes him a hero in my book.     I personally could not get into this story. The best way for me to describe it is that it felt instalove while being a full length book.

    Dylan is Graham’s (Stuck-Up Suit) right hand man. He’s looking for a new gig since his boss is moving. A jack of all trades, Dylan is in job limbo and takes a possible new gig which leads to meeting up with Penelope, a woman he first meets when she moves into a building he manages.

    I liked Dylan a lot. A smart, but unsure of himself character. He’s got a grounded quality I admired. Penelope was fine, but felt distanced. I couldn’t really get why they would be together. The conflict felt empty as well.

    The narration was very good. If anything, my only issue was Erin Mallon’s male voice was a bit huskier than Lance Greenfield’s. Still, quite enjoyable listen despite how I felt about the story.

    And I gotta love Graham and Soraya doing a little part in this.

    This is a book worth waiting for. Outstanding story and well written. There is something about a man with eyes that speak to you and a smile the melts you. He is a go getter, he has ambitions and wants to be his own boss.
    She is stunning and is engaged to a high power business man. He has to figure out a way to see her again. It just so happens that his boss is moving and now he is introduced to the fiance. What a jerk this guy is, he doesn't know the half of it.

    I really enjoyed the tone of this book. I think the author has a slightly different writing style that works for Dylan's character. I enjoyed getting a picture of the rich and famous of New York from the perspective of the common man. And I loved visiting with Graham and Soraya again and seeing their relationship from an outsider's perspective.
    That said. Deducted a star because there are some editing errors still and also the last intimate scene seemed really off. As if a completely different author wrote it. It was really strange and kinda threw me off, but the book was only one chapter from the end so I wasn't thrown off for long. And the heroine seemed a bit naive in my eyes. She explains several times how she got together with her fiance but apparently she didn't see or heed any of the multitude of red flags he was giving off. And she knows how rich and powerful he is, but never takes steps to protect herself and her family? I wasn't really buying it.
    I tend to be the harshest critic of books that I really enjoyed but still need a bit of polishing and that's exactly the situation here.

    Enjoyable! This is my first book by this author. The story is smooth and the characters are lively. I enjoy how he can bring these characters to life! The story is a sleeping with your boss’ fiancé. One I haven’t read before. Plus the whole idea of the “secret keeper” was a wonderful one and a great way to work this story in.

    I liked the angle and the characters. Dillon is such an alpha male. I wish Penelope would have been a bit of a stronger female but she was still great. It was great how much Graham was such a huge part of the story instead of just a glimpse.

    I did listen to this on audio. Muffy and Lance did a great job!

    ...but after going through 100 pages of this story, I got so frustrated I had to stop. It felt like standing in line for hours without knowing what was waiting at the end, wondering if it was worth my time to find out. Pages upon pages where absolutely nothing happens, too much dialogue that doesn't add anything interesting to the story and nothing to anticipate, because you don't even get to really know anything about the characters, other than where they came from and what kind of job they do or don't do.
    A good romance should make you feel what the characters feel, but that can't happen, if the POV is with the wrong person. You end up feeling nothing but being on the outside looking in and that makes it very hard to get invested. I feel like this story had a lot of potential , but was poorly written and put together. Instead of making me "feel all the feels", I got so bored I couldn't continue.
