Suppression (Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team Book 2) Kindle Edition
If you don't love, you can't get hurt...
Nick Kepler
One thing my childhood taught me was never show my emotions. Don’t make memories. Don’t count on other people. Don’t hope for the best.
All that changed when I was adopted by Ryan and Whitney Kepler. Begrudgingly I let them into my life, along with my new sister and a best friend I would lay down my life for. But giving up my heart and accepting love in return from Kelsea Harrison? It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to do. And the truth is? I’m not sure if I’m that strong.
Kelsea Harrison
From the very moment I met Nick Kepler I knew he would be the love of my life. Problem is I haven’t been able to convince him of that yet.
When our best friends get married, Nick and I spend a drunken night letting our walls down and losing all our inhibitions. In one moment I’m given everything I ever wanted. Then, in the blink of an eye it’s taken away from me.
The question is, can I be strong for the both of us?
The answer? I have to be.

- Reviewed in Australia on 12 August 2024This was a great book.
Meeting up at a wedding, Nick and Kelsea have a one night stand that amazing for both of them, then trouble hits.
Very well done, Nick and Kelsea have a untraditional and unique connection that reveals a stunning chemistry. This dynamic plus the team spirit help to make this a story not to be missed.
The plot was simple yet filled with romance and a suspenseful storyline.
Very well done!!
- Reviewed in Australia on 31 December 2019Verified PurchaseThis book really tugged on my heartstrings. The story of Nick and Kelsea. Nick’s upbringing has made him emotionally unavailable. He doesn’t want to fall in love, but fate has other ideas. Whilst doing his job as a police officer, a young boy comes into his life and turns his world upside down.
- Reviewed in Australia on 4 May 2019I really like this series, this family. The sense of community is great.
Nick is a great character. A little damaged, but kind hearted.
Kelsey is strong and holds into those whom she leaves with all she has.
Together, they’re a great couple. I would’ve liked to have seen more of them. More of them when they first realised their feelings, more of them as a couple. Ironically, previously I’ve seen there needed to be more action in the MTF/LSERT books, but here I think there needed to be more of the couple. I think things were a little too easy for them when I was not anticipating that.
Still, this is a great addition to the series and I look forward to the next.
- Reviewed in Australia on 13 December 2020Verified PurchaseOh gosh my heart hurt for these 2!!
I loved Kelsea’s attitude she knew what she wanted and made sure Nick never forgot. The story was so well written definitely have some tissues handy.

- Reviewed in Australia on 11 September 2024“Suppression” is the second installment in the “Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team Series.” Kelsea has loved her best friend Stella’s brother Nick for many years. Nick is demons from his past and does not feel he is good enough for her. There lives are thrown together when they decide to foster a little boy to give him a better chance at life, away from his abusive father that uses him as a punching bag.
Nick continues to fight his attraction to Kelsea as he does not feel that he is worthy of her. How can she convince him? What can she do? This story will make you cry, it will make you laugh and most of all, believe in love at first sight with a few speed bumps along the way. I was totally engrossed from the start and could not put it down!
“Wanna kiss you, more than I’ve ever wanted anything.”
It sounds like those words are ripped from his throat, and maybe they are, because they show emotion and anyone who knows him knows emotion isn’t his strong suit. We stare at one another for long minutes. I can see something there, a glimmer of hope, of what could be if he’d just let himself feel. If he’d let me in. It’s too much, I’m feeling way too much right now.
At times you will laugh, you will cry, you will even get frustrated, but over all, you have your fingers crossed that everything will work out for them. They compliment each in some many ways - faults and all. This is a lovely book that will keep you hooked! It has fun, laughs, intrigue and physical attraction. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful love story ♥️ From page to page, chapter to chapter, you will enjoy this beautiful story - from cover to cover! This book will not disappoint! Highly recommended 😊

- Reviewed in Australia on 9 May 2019Suppression by Laramie Briscoe is the second book in her Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series. This is the next generation awesomeness of the Moonshine Task Force series. So while readers of the the MTF books will get a kick out of the characters involvement in the LSERT series it is all about the new kids. Suppression is the story of Nick Kepler and Kelsea Harrison and is heartfelt, emotional, angsty and wonderful.
Nick was rescued by the Keplers when he was in his early teens. A life of abuse and neglect finally came to an end when he joined their family but it seems as though he has always been waiting for the other shoe to drop. As a result he has never allowed anyone too close outside of the Kepler's. Even Kelsea and he has liked her for a long time.
Kelsea knows some of the trouble Nick has had to deal with but she is about done putting herself out there for him. While they excel at friendship he just can't seem to let her in any closer than that. But as they both are drawn to each other and their feelings are obvious Nick is getting better at letting her close. But then an opportunity falls into their laps and they have to completely change their dynamic or risk another's well-being.
Loved this so much. There has not been a Laramie book so far that I haven't been invested in and this whole Laurel Springs family is one I love to visit again and again. Enjoy!

Unfortunately memories get the best of us and he needed Kelsea was just the woman to remind him he was worthy of love, family and friends who would stand with him and support him. 5+ stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pass the tissues!
Verified PurchaseI have read this series and the MTF series a couple of times now. This book being my favourite of this series. I love the journey Nick and Kelsea take, the steps they're prepared to make to ensure the safety of one little boy who could otherwise be left unseen, another number in a sea of numbers.
Laramie Briscoe writes very well, and really has the reader caught up with her words, hence the need for tissues. Having read Nick and Kelsea's stories at least three times and therefore knowing the end, it's the journey that brings out the emotions.
As an English woman who has only ever visited the States once and that being the North -West, I never really thought much of those from the Southern states, only really knowing a few - probably more joking things than real. However, if the Southern boys are half as good as these boys are portrayed to be, I'd move there in a nanosecond !! I mean who doesn't love a man with what I've decided is a sexy southern draawl, is good looking with a killer body, as polite as they come, oh and best yet, all alpha!
If you like all those things, plus fierce loyalty and a strong heart to love with, then read these books, only word of advice, begin with Renegade from the Moonshine Task Force series as they're these sexy ladies and gents' parents 😊

4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet and inspiring story.
Verified PurchaseWhat a lovely read. I loved how Nick came full circle. I also love the interactions between all the various families. This was a topic very dear to my heart and it was handled beautifully.
The writer does such a great with telling the story and the character developments were wonderfully written. This story makes me want to move to Laurel Springs! Plan to read more from this author in the future. Thanks for a great read.
