A Royally Inconvenient Marriage Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 5,236 ratings

I was not meant to be a queen.
But to save my sister, I had to make a bargain with the devil, and that deal comes with a real crown.

I always thought Mr. Tall, Dark, and Grumpy was one more pompous, arrogant man who loved to use his fancy accent and posh manners to remind me just how many stations above me he is in life.

But he’s secret royalty, the new heir to a kingdom, in need of an immediate wife to claim his throne. I need a husband to get custody of my sister. We’re both in a bad spot, with an even worse solution.

But the biggest problem? Bigger than living halfway around the world from my home, bigger than being away from my best friend, and bigger than having to put my own career on hold?

The biggest problem might be that once I get to know what makes his heart beat, he might not be such a devil after all.

And when he’s changed the laws of his country so that I don’t have to stay, he’ll have no reason to keep me.

A Royally Inconvenient Marriage is a romping fun marriage of convenience between a surprise heir and a professional hot mess, complete with the bedroom to end all bedrooms, a run-down alpaca, and that thing with the hot air balloons. This romantic comedy stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers and ends with a royally awesome happily ever after.

Pippa Grant wanted to write books, so she did.

Before she became a USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling romantic comedy author, she was a young military spouse who got into writing as self-therapy. That happened around the time she discovered reading romance novels, and the two eventually merged into a career. Today, she has more than 30 knee-slapping Pippa Grant titles and nine published under the name Jamie Farrell.

When she’s not writing romantic comedies, she’s fumbling through being a mom, wife, and mountain woman, and sometimes tries to find hobbies. Her crowning achievement? Having impeccable timing for telling stories that will make people snort beverages out of their noses. Consider yourself warned.

3.5 Stars!! Funny take on marriage of convenience...
3.5 StarsViktor is used to working for royalty, but when his old family title in Amoria comes back within reach, he has the chance to take back the legacy he never thought would be his.  Unfortunately, royal law decrees that the king must be married... happily. All Peach wants is to take care of her younger sister and keep her from getting in constant trouble. But, when her sister makes that job impossible for her, Peach finds herself in a situation she never thought would happen... and requires finding a spouse of her own...With no love lost between Viktor and Peach, why wouldn't the most logical solution be for them to marry... each other.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Peach has always had to find her own way in life, and understandably finds it very hard to trust others. Especially men. Having a constant bickering relationship with Viktor, she seems like the last person who would want to marry him. And everyone knows how thin a line there is between hate and... super hot sex.Viktor never thought he would become King of Amoria. Agreeing to the job ad marrying Peach, he focuses everything he has on trying to fix every issue that arises. And coming home to Peach every night is something he starts to look forward to more and more. This book was a funny take on the marriage of convenience trope. Leaning a little more towards the silly side, I felt the love story between Viktor and Peach was overshadowed by so much of everything else that was going on in the book.Although not my favorite book from this world, I enjoyed this story for it's focus and continuance of the same group of friends in previously loved books, and I can't wait for the next one.I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

We're getting enough characters in these interconnected stand alones that we may need a flow chart, but I’ll try to keep it simple. This book is Peach and Viktor's story and includes Peach's sister, Papaya, and their Meemaw. Peach is best friends and business partners with Joey (Joey and Zeus from The Pilot and the Puck-Up) and Viktor is head bodyguard for royal hockey player Manning (Gracie and Manning from Royally Pucked). To obtain legal custody of her sister, the Alabama judge orders Peach to get married, and yes, I’ve seen judges here in the south make some pretty crazy rulings, so that’s not too far fetched. Viktor has the opportunity to be king of the country from which his grandfather was dethroned, but Amoria law requires their king have a wife. Peach and Viktor may get on each other's last nerve, but they can be a solution for each other and keep things strictly business. You can likely already see how well that will work out.

This author is an auto preorder and auto “get my hands on an advance copy" so the scales may be tipped in favor of me viewing her work in a positive light, but it’s because she’s truly a fantastic writer. If a queen of romantic comedy were being crowned, I'd be hard pressed to not plop the tiara firmly on Grant's witty, humorous head. Every new book is better than the last, and I’m in awe of her ability to continue to create such delightfully entertaining stories. No one does antics, shenanigans and comedic errors quite like this author, from legwarmers for llamas and charming crumbling castles to purloined hot air balloons and everything coming up, well, hearts, there’s never a dull moment.

Of course, these characters are just as endearing as the others have been and quickly find their way into the reader's heart. (Seriously, there are a lot of hearts!) I loved Viktor's upper crust narration, and how he seemed all serious, stoic and kingly, but his compassion, huge heart, a sense of humor he kept closely guarded and his hint of vulnerability are what really made the character for me. And between Peach and her younger sister Papaya, never mind his kingly duties, Viktor really has his hands full. Papaya is a good-hearted, out of control teenager, and Peach has her own set of challenges. Moving from Alabama to the country of Amoria doesn’t really change any of that. “You can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can’t take the trailer park out of the girl" seems to be a motto ingrained in Peach and she's always had to work harder to make a success of things. It also doesn't help that she had a lesson in trusting men when she was fifteen, and she's believed that all men are untrustworthy ever since. She's her own worst enemy because it keeps her from seeing the good in her or the good things she has accomplished.

It’s always an adventure to read a Grant book, and this is no exception. I never know where the journey will take me, but I know it will be great fun. These characters are complex and immensely endearing. The storyline is engaging and entertaining, and I was right there with Peach and Viktor, page by page, pulling for their happily ever after. With an abundance of non-food-or-beverage-consuming, laugh-out-loud moments, the perfect amount of kingly and sassy southern hotness, and a ton of happy-sigh inducing heart, this book is royally worthy of a 1-Click!

A Royal Bodyguard/Secret Heir/Marriage of Convenience Romantic Comedy.

Viktor enjoys baiting Peach and she has no use for him because of her history. Peach has recently discovered she has a half sister, Papaya, that she is trying to adopt. But when each is faced with a problem that requires marriage, Peach proposes a union in name only. Peach hopes that by removing Papaya from her current situation, she can give her sister a fresh start and help Papaya to realize she can be more productive and focused with her energies than just getting into trouble. Does Viktor agree to the marriage and its terms? Who does Viktor wish he could talk with? Why was Viktor's grandfather exiled from Amoria and by whom? What does the country of Amoria like to call itself? Besides a king, what does Amoria need? How do hot air balloons factor into the story? A fun story of an independent, sassy woman and a reluctant but protective alpha man who discover the wonders of loving one another, with a supportive cast of colorful charactrrs.

Hot Heir is a stand alone spinoff of the Royally Pucked series. Peach just wants to help her little sister out by gaining full custody of her, but to do so she must be married. Viktor has surprisingly inherited a whole kingdom, but to reign as king, he must be married. Peach and Viktor can’t stand each other, but they’re both desperate. Will this arrangement be a match made in heaven or only doomed to fail?

Oh my goodness, this book seemed a little over the top at times, but I couldn’t help but giggle and I even cried a tiny bit towards the end. Peach and Viktor were so fun, so full of life, so full of antagonizing one another, plus you add in the craziness of the side characters and while this book could be a hot mess, you couldn’t help but swoon for Viktor as he tries to make Peach’s life easier! So good! Peach is such a strong woman, takes the punches that life has thrown her way and just tried her hardest to keep rolling and thriving! I loved her passion, the way she was such a fighter, and I loved her insecurities just as much as her strength. Viktor was just as amazing, rising to challenges he didn’t want, embracing the crazy that was thrown his way, and loving those around him the best that he could. Peach and Viktor truly made the type of team that had me screaming “relationship goal.” I loved how he was able to support her, and she was able to bring so much joy and life into his routines. I really enjoyed reading this book! It might not be my most favorite book in the Pippa universe that she’s created, but it was fun with both lighthearted moments, serious undertones at times, a connection that can’t be denied, side characters that will have you laughing, and a love that you just have to cheer for!

Even though the writing is a little lacking and the internal dialog of the characters is time exasperating because of the poorly written invented and southern slang the story is entertaining and character like Papaya and Alexander steal the show.

From the moment I saw the cover and envisioned Viktor as Nanny Fine’s Maxwell Shepherd, this book has had me laughing. I love all the characters, especially Papaya, but Peach and Viktor are adorable together. I knew he’d give up his crown for her, but I’m so happy they’re staying in Armoria. Love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Heir is hot indeed
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 1, 2018
What a pure fun, escapist, silly smile gem of a read.
Hot Heir follows the unconventional love story of Peach and Viktor. Peach, best friend of Grace (Royally Pucked) and Viktor, royal bodyguard to Manning (Royally Pucked) have been antagonising each other for a while but haven't acted upon an uneasy attraction. That all changes when circumstances conspire to throw them head first into a marriage of convenience.

Both protagonists are honestly marrying each other for the most honourable of reasons but the attraction that has simmered unfulfilled has a chance to ignite. And phew, does it ignite🔥

Throw into the mix a teenage rebel half sister, a series of hot air balloon mishaps, a crumbling palace and a country which has an obsession with romance and it's a recipe for another fantastical, expertly written love story.
Peach is the sort of woman you'd want as a friend and Viktor is definitely the hero she deserves.

I also appreciated the addition of the word 'tis, it is woefully underused in books nowadays 😂
Can't wait for more books from this very talented author.
