This book is about Linly and Kade. She owns and runs the Sunrise Inn on a small North Carolina Island, and her best friend Brynn owns and runs the Sunset Inn next door. Kade is renting out the entire Sunrise property for a couple of weeks. Kade is allegedly the hottest, playboy-type movie star around, and is being forced to take a quiet break away from Hollywood and the current (false) rumours about him and his co-star’s wife.
Kade’s manager Wren has some big demands that are a bit over the top. And Linly (with the support of Brynn), is to be the one to cater for his every want and need during his stay. From the start of the first chapter, I knew what kind of character Linly would be – a strong and spunky woman that would give this movie star a run for his money! It was going to be a fun ride!
When he finally arrives at the inn, he’s taken aback by the beauty of the place – and not just the building or its location, but the gorgeous blonde behind the front desk! And when her eyes finally meet his, she too is instantly enamoured by him! It’s the Kade Markson effect she’s heard about before. Their early banter is sweet and funny, especially as he assigns her the ‘Goldie’ nickname. And when she leaves him in his suite to get settled, she takes the sunlight with her. He was smitten already!
This was a really enjoyable read that I could hardly put down. I just needed to know what happened next! There are lots of ups and downs, mixed emotions and both complex and simple relationships. Both characters had great support in those they call family, and many others that tried to cause trouble and hurt. But knowing who to truly trust was key.
This was a sweet and steamy, sad and happy story. And I felt like I was there with them! (especially when they were talking about collecting sea glass, which I also love to do). I was disappointed it ended so quickly, but now I cannot wait for Brynn’s story. And knowing how close the two girls are, I just know that we’ll get to revisit both Lin and Kade again. I give this book four and three quarter hideaway stars.
