Charming as Puck (Copper Valley Thrusters Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 7,037 ratings

The man could charm the panties off a nun...

Nick Murphy. Hockey god. My best friend’s big brother. My friend-with-mindblowing-benefits. The best thing to happen to my nether regions since my subscription to the toy of the month club. The man I’ve been secretly in love with for years.

And total ass.

I am so done with him.

Except there’s one small problem.

Now that I’ve cut him off, his hockey game is in the toilet. He’s convinced I’m his good luck charm, and he wants me back. But only for his game.

I’ll be strong. I will. I’ll resist.

Asses don’t change their stripes.

Or do they?

This plan would be so easy if the man wasn't Charming as Puck...

Charming as Puck is a romping fun romance between a hockey player and his sister's best friend, complete with farm animals, epic birthday presents, and Berger Twin sightings. This romantic comedy stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers and ends with a pucking awesome happily ever after.

Pippa Grant wanted to write books, so she did.

Before she became a USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling romantic comedy author, she was a young military spouse who got into writing as self-therapy. That happened around the time she discovered reading romance novels, and the two eventually merged into a career. Today, she has more than 30 knee-slapping Pippa Grant titles and nine published under the name Jamie Farrell.

When she’s not writing romantic comedies, she’s fumbling through being a mom, wife, and mountain woman, and sometimes tries to find hobbies. Her crowning achievement? Having impeccable timing for telling stories that will make people snort beverages out of their noses. Consider yourself warned.

Ultra sexy, second chance romance and a complete comedy of errors...

Ultra sexy, second chance romance and a complete comedy of errors...
Kami Oakley wants to be Nick Murphy's everything... but after their ongoing friends with benefits arrangement fails to lead to anything more permanent, she decides to cut her losses and call it quits. Nick is a great guy, but he is never going to want the same things that she has always dreamed of for her future. Nick Murphy is a professional hockey player who never takes anything too seriously... except maybe prank wars and protecting his sister. Kami is one of the closest friends he has ever had, and when he finds out he has done something to ruin their friendship, he is at a loss as of how to fix things. Nick has always been all about focusing on the things that he wants, but if what he wants is a real chance with Kami, he is going to have to do something completely out of his character. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Charming as Puck was an irresistible and hilarious story of a boy, his pet cow and the girl who got away. Nick and Kami's sex without commitment relationship was uncomplicated and a whole lot of fun, until Kami realizes that Nick will never feel the same way for her that she does for him. She is ready to move on... and Nick suddenly realizes just what he may be losing... Kami is a veterinarian who wants the most simple things in life. Love, commitment, kids and a few pets along the way. After her ongoing infatuation with Nick leads to them getting closer, Kami thinks that he is finally going to see how great they are together, but all she gets is some epic, no feelings included, sex. Nick loves to have a good time. From his pranks, to playing hockey and his more and more frequent time spent with Kami, he feels like he has it all. Until Kami ditches him, he finds a cow in his apartment... and then gets evicted. He not only needs a new place to live, but all of a sudden his game starts to suffer. But, worse than all of that is how much he misses Kami. He may not deserve her, but he will find a way to prove that he can be everything she needs... I loved Kami and Nick so much, they were such a perfect couple and Kami deserved every bit of attention Nick (eventually) showers on her. Kami comes off as a sweet, people pleaser, but she definitely has a spicy side hidden behind her nice girl exterior. Nick seems like a completely clueless specimen, that is, until he finds that he has to step it up if he wants Kami to ever speak to him again. This book was an ultra sexy, second chance romance and a complete comedy of errors. With the hilarious pranks and cameo appearances from out past hockey playing favorites, some new interesting characters, babies, babies, babies and, of course... the animals!! I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

Being a big Pippa fan, I knew I was going to like this book. She gives you the right amount of comedy and romance and leaves you always wanting more.
I loved book 3 with Araz, but once I got into Nick’s story, I loved it just as much. Nick has been sneaking around with his sisters best friend Kami for 8 months. Kami has been in love with Nick for several years. He is a great goal tender for the home team the Thrusters. Kami is the sweetest and nicest person and in the family business of being a vet. Every time the Thrusters pull a prank on each other, they call Kami to find the animal loving homes. So it’s no surprise when Nick wakes up to a baby calf in his apartment. Kami is pissed that he forgot her birthday and wants her to deal with his calf issue, but she refuses, then later shows up at his place to take the calf home, even though there isn’t a place for her and ends up taking her to Nick’s parents house. Kami ignores Nick for 8 weeks and his game shoes. Nick gets benched and slowly comes to terms with being in love and not knowing how to date or have a girlfriend and how to say sorry to someone he likes. Kami is patient and loving, and finds ways to help him balance love, the game, and their pets.

Want to know the secret remedy for stress, aggravation or just sheer boredom? A Pippa Grant book. As much as I’d like to tell you that it doesn’t matter which Grant book you read, because they’re all zany, hilarious, sexy and heartfelt, this book somehow has more of everything. Between canine neuticles, the world's most awesome cow-dog, Johnson-Wankers, a Halloween party gone off the rails due to dueling phobias, epic apology gifts, and glitter, of course, there's never a dull moment. (FYI, with Grant it’s never simply “glitter,” but always “glitter, of course.”) And once again I find myself trying to explain to the hubs why I’m laughing hysterically and that, no, I’m not choking and I don’t need the hemlock. (Yes, we say “hemlock" in my family, thanks to my Malapropos-stricken uncle.)

Our pucking charming hero in this book is Nick, and along with being a prankster to rival the Burger twins he’s kind of a selfish butthead. He's also arrogant and adorable, cocky and charming, and egotistical and endearing. It’s enough to give a girl whiplash, but it's also no wonder Kami has been crushing on the infuriatingly endearing hockey goalie since high school. Veterinarian Kami is sweet and compassionate to all species (except clowns) and generally accepting and forgiving. But now that she and Nick have been friends with benefits for months and he forgets the one day of the year important to her, we find out that she has a not-so-sweet side. She's had enough of being nothing more than an afterthought to Nick, and she's done.

Amidst all the hilarity and pranks, this book has a surprising amount of heart. The bad-boy prankster gets quite the incentive to take a fresh look at himself and his life and discover who he is outside of hockey. The hole Kami leaves in his life shows him how his future life might look, and he doesn’t like what he sees, which prompts some well-thought apology gifts and a campaign to show Kami how he really feels about her. His legendary redemption is humorous, because you can’t take the prankster out of the hockey player, but it’s also heart felt, poignant and sweet, and enough to make any girl lose her heart. With appearances from some of our favorite Grant characters, cameos from Maria Luis’ Blades and Lili Valente's Badgers, a sweet but strong heroine, and a badly behaving hero you can’t help but love, this hilarious but heart-warming, swoony read is unequivocally 1-click worthy!

Charming as Puck is the fourth book in the Thrusters Hockey Series, but all of Ms. Grant’s books have cameos from previous books! Kami has loved Nick for forever, but when he forgets her birthday, she’s done. Wanting more for herself, she tries dating, but Nick is determined to win her back, not just because she’s his lucky charm, but because he can’t imagine his life without her. Will Nick get the chance to prove his love to Kami?

This book was so good, had my giggling, and I absolutely adored the relationship and connection that forms between Nick and Kami! I loved that this book was kind of low on the drama, but really focused on Nick and Kami’s relationship, his epic apology, with the added bonus of all of the Berger twins and their wives, throw in dashes of humor and love and heart warming scenes, and you have a truly amazing book. Nick. Was. Awesome! I love that he knows he’s kind of a butthead, but I loved watching him try to be better for all of the people around him, not just Kami. He has a big heart, a devious mind, and is determined to win, on and off of the ice. Kami is a big sweetheart, always willing to give her everything to those she loves, but I liked her when she showed her backbone, knowing that she deserved better. I loved her compassion and how quick she was to forgive, too. She was a perfect match for Nick, more than just chemistry and passionately, but she got him beyond just the surface level Nick, and he got her. This book didn’t make me cry, like some other books from Ms. Grant, but I still loved every moment I spent with this book, giggling and swooning and falling in love with Nick and Kami!

I adore this book and have read it multiple times. I love how Pippa puts Nick through the ringer to earn back Kami's love and that Kami actually follows through with giving it a go at moving on. She doesn't just wait around and cave the moment Nick starts showing signs of turning around. Also, the audio narrators do such a great job of emoting the struggle both characters feel... Esp Jason Clarke!! This is a book I love revisiting because it is lighthearted and fun and the characters are absolutely loveable and joy to be around. 5+ Stars always!

Lastly, not since City Slickers has anything made me want a cow dog more! Hahaha

Oh Pippa Grant where have you been hiding. This book was amazing. I read it in 24 hours and couldn't put it down. The pranks, the animals and the chemistry made this so good. Nick and Kami are friends with benefits until they aren't and Nick realises what he's missed. Saying sorry in so many ways brings them together for a truly brilliant read. So... the hero wakes up with a cow in his bed! How many times have you heard that? Real cow... ok, calf, and it just gets crazier and more adorable as it goes on. I love the way Nick gradually goes from self-centred pucker to awwww-cute as he opens up to the possibility that there is more to life than himself, practical jokes and pucking hockey. A really great read.
