FINALLY we get the fireballs biggest fan’s love story and boy did it deliver !

Mackenzie Montana may be a super smart trash engineer but her first job title is Copper Valley Fireballs biggest fan . And with being the biggest fan means having endless superstitions about every player and detail of the team .. including stealing one of the new mascots they have in the running to replace the old mascot and jock blocking Brooks Elliott because he must keep his V-card if it means the team will continue to win games . Brooks just wants to finally give it up after being to picky in his thirty years of waiting but once he sets his sights on crazy Mackenzie he knows he is done for . These two are absolutely hilarious and described perfectly from one line of this book: “I’m a hot mess . No, you’re a spicy taco with extra guacamole .” Truly loved this one just like so many of Pippa’s books !

This audiobook is book one in the Copper Valley Fireballs series and it can be read as a complete standalone . Although I do recommend reading in the suggested reading order from Pippa so you can meet all of the incredible side characters and learn Mackenzie’s quirky charm !

I absolutely loved this book. It’s probably my new favorite out of all of her other books I’ve read, which is saying something. I love brooks and Mackenzie together, and I LOVE Mackenzie’s belief in the Fireballs. The way they come together is so hot and cute it’s insane.

Also, best part? No third act breakup! I absolutely hate 3ABs, and it is SUCH a joy to read a good romcom without it.

Was this best romance that I have ever read? No. Did I believe that Mackenzie and Brooks were these great soul mates? No. Did I have a fun with this? Yes.

The fun and hilarity started with chapter one as soon as Mackenzie took that mascot from the locker room and ran into Brooks while in the costume. It was so silly and ridiculous, but in the best way possible. The tone just carried throughout the entire book. It was just pure entertainment between their interactions, the dog, the superstitions, and their friends. It was just a lighthearted read.

What a bright ray of sunshiney happiness this was! I always love Pippa Grant’s quirky rom coms, so I knew I was in for a good read, but this has got to be one of my absolute FAVORITES from her. It’s light and funny and oh so sweet with a couple that you will be rooting for from start to finish. I loved this hero once I got to know him a little better - Brooks is kinda broken at the beginning of this book, and it takes some TLC from our heroine before he finds his happy again. It’s refreshingly delightful from beginning to end, and the perfect book to kick off this new series (though there are plenty of appearances from old favorites)!

The story follows Brooks, a baseball player who seems to have a curse. Every time he gets past second base with a woman, his game falls apart. For that reason… he’s never gotten any further than that with a woman. When Brooks was playing for a winning team, the sacrifice to his love life seemed worth it, but now that’s he’s been traded to the worst team in the league, well… he’s ready to make a few changes. Desperate to lose his v-card to any woman who will have him, Brooks turns into a bit of a horndog. The only problem? Super fan Mackenzie knows about the curse, and she is determined to stop him before he crosses that line. While Brooks might think Mackenzie is a special kind of crazy, it’s not long before the two shift from strangers with conflicting goals to something much deeper.

This might just be my favorite read from Grant, and that’s saying a lot. It’s quirky and kinda ridiculous but so, so funny. I loved both of these characters and their strange journey to happy ever after, which is actually surprising given how much OW drama there is at the start of this. Naturally, Brooks is trying to lose his v-card, so it’s not without its drama, but Grant handles everything so well that it was never really a problem for me. And the payoff… so, so worth it. I loved the buildup of intimacy and the changes we see in both characters throughout the course of the book. It’s light and funny from start to finish, but there’s that underlying layer of depth that I love about Pippa’s books. All in all, a really great, fun read, and I cannot wait for more from this series. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC via Give Me Books (then purchased it for my collection), and am voluntarily leaving a review of this quirky romance.

So you can bet this was an automatic HECK YES for me to read, but let's get into the why…

What happens when you're the losingest (yeah, yeah, I know it's not a word but it's perfect for this one) team in baseball and their newest, and arguably hottest, player is about to ruin their chances of winning again by finally losing his V-card?

Mackenzie has soooooo many things that make you just laugh and sob a little for her, but come on! This is Parker's brother Brooks' book and YOU KNOW that means a return of the Elliott family group texts!!! These were just priceless moments in the story - THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!

I'm on Team NO SPOILERS, but you must know that this return to Copper Valley for a Fireballs story was EVERYTHING I was hoping it would be and it turned the virgin trope on its head! How many books have you read where it's the young, naïve girl who’s the virgin?

The correct answer is TOO FLIPPING MANY!!!!

I have read maybe one or two other stories where it's hero who's the virgin and not the heroine in M/F Romance and this was something so very needed because a) he's not super young and naïve, and b) IT'S THE HERO and Brooks is a super hot ball player so you'd think he'd be getting laid at every conceivable opportunity!

Brooks is trying desperately to lose his V-card now that he's been traded from New York to the Fireballs since he doesn't see where him playing any worse could be detrimental to the team and their chances of getting fans back and winning games. Enter Mackenzie Montana, the Fireballs' biggest fan (FIERY FOREVER!!!!) who knows her baseball and believes in superstition, good luck, and curses to cock block him in a flaming meatball mascot costume. Ridiculous? NO, it is PERFECTION! The fan culture that's brought into this story are not only hilarious, but totally on point. If you're a serious baseball fan you know you have superstitions and rituals that you have to go through for each game to keep your team's streak alive. Mackenzie nails these, she also nails how I felt when my singular mascot became several for <i>my</i> team.

Aside from the virgin trope, I had a hard time classing this because they're not really friends to lovers, at least not at first. They become friendly eventually, but their feelings are winning out by this point. They also aren't really enemies to lovers, but kind of because they seem to start that way - especially with how hard she's trying to cock-block Brooks just so he can keep hitting the ball! It's kind of a slow burn, but with laughter and some amazing moments with friends that show just how deep of a world Pippa has created. Whatever you want to class this as, make sure you class it as EXCELLENT and 100% worth your time!

Honourable mention for scene stealer awards go to Mackenzie's daddies (in and out of drag!), Coco Puff the dog because it's Pippa and it's an animal and she does those ridiculously well and we all know that, the Mascot Alternatives that are *NOT* Fiery (FIERY FOREVER!!!!!!), and the Elliott Family Text Messages.

Go on and grab this baby today! Just because we can't watch baseball right now doesn't mean we can't read some excellent romances that touch on baseball culture. You won't regret one-clicking this one. Go on! Grab it!!!

Not many authors make me laugh out loud but Pippa had me giggling all the way through. It is a story set in the world of professional baseball but it doesn’t matter if baseball is an unknown game to you just that you appreciate just how far devoted fans will go for their team and how superstitious players and fans are . I loved the wider world and families of Mackenzie and Brooks as they added to the overall chaos and hilarity. A great book , looking forward to more in the series.

Gosh such a great book to start what ended up being an ever greater series The Copper Valley Fireballs, awesome characters and even more awesome fictional characters in the mascots that are up for "choosing' when the Fireballs Mascot is "given time off".
Brook Elliots, Copper Valley's Baseball Virgin, who has set out that this season he is going to lose his V Card. Well that is until MacKenzie (we meet in previous Geekheart book ) decides it is her job to make sure that he doesn't or he will end up messing with his season, and no one messes with Mackenzies Fireballs. this girl is beyond a Fanatical Fan. So she does what any self respecting Fireball fan does. She Ccckblocks him at every chance. there is something about Pippa and her fun and hilarious characters. I love how her series run into each other and we keep seeing all the past characters we have read and get little snippets of those still to come.
