Real Fake Love (Copper Valley Fireballs Book 2) Kindle Edition
Be still my panties. I think I’m in trouble.
If people have polar opposites, Luca Rossi is mine.
His butt is in the baseball hall of fame. Mine’s comfortably seated in the hall of lame.
When he’s not snagging fly balls out in center field, he’s modeling in shampoo commercials. I once jammed my own finger while stirring cookie dough, and sometimes I forget shampoo is a thing.
He’s a total cynic when it comes to love.
I make a living writing love stories.
But after my latest broken engagement (no, I don’t want to talk about how many times that’s happened), it’s clear he’s exactly the man I need.
If anyone can teach me to be the opposite of me, it’s him.
The first thing I want him to teach me?
How to not fall in love.
And as luck would have it, he’s in desperate need of a fake girlfriend to get a meddling grandmother off his back.
We couldn’t be more perfect together, because the last thing Luca Rossi will ever be is the next man to leave me at the altar.
Or will he?
Real Fake Love is a line drive straight to the heart featuring a grumpy athlete, a jilted bride, a fake relationship, and the world’s laziest cat. It stands alone and comes complete with sibling rivalry, the world’s most awkward shower scene, and a sweetly satisfying happily ever after.

About the author

Pippa Grant wanted to write books, so she did.
Before she became a USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling romantic comedy author, she was a young military spouse who got into writing as self-therapy. That happened around the time she discovered reading romance novels, and the two eventually merged into a career. Today, she has more than 30 knee-slapping Pippa Grant titles and nine published under the name Jamie Farrell.
When she’s not writing romantic comedies, she’s fumbling through being a mom, wife, and mountain woman, and sometimes tries to find hobbies. Her crowning achievement? Having impeccable timing for telling stories that will make people snort beverages out of their noses. Consider yourself warned.

- Reviewed in Australia on 22 November 2020Verified PurchaseAnother hilarious Pippa Grant read in the world of the Fireballs, Bro Code, The Thrusters and Mister McHottie’s gang. The humour is zany and laugh out loud funny but you do get great character growth, a good storyline and heartwarming lovable characters even the Mascots. So glad we go to find out about the Mascots, Mackenzie’s antics and loved how that story unfolded. I think TicTok Nonna and Luca’s mum as well as Elsa drove me a bit mad but with Pippa’s usual brilliance she managed to find a place for everyone by the end.
Also don’t miss the bonus content, its always great when an author gives you the bonus epilogues so we could see what happens later.
- Reviewed in Australia on 17 January 2021Verified PurchaseSuch a great book. I really liked Luca and Henri. The relationship development was gorgeous. Grumpy Luca and quirky Henri were a lot of fun. Henri is a PNR author, and I especially loved all the crazy writer/ing parts. While I wouldn’t pick it as Pippa’s funniest book, there was plenty of laughs. And I once again loved the ongoing story with the Fireballs.
I also listened to the audiobook, and Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose did a fantastic job. They are on my list of favourite narrators.
- Reviewed in Australia on 15 September 2020Verified PurchaseOMG everytime you release a book I say this is my favorite. But for reals I think this time it is my favorite . I loved Luca and Henri they are such great characters. She's so funny I don't think I laughed as much as i laughed in this book. And then I felt that ache that these two have cause she was running towards love cause of her parents while he was running from love for same reason mainly his dad . They were so perfect for each other

Read this book... actually read all of her books.
The whole fireballs series is funny
The characters are so fabulous i want to crawl into the book and be their friend !
- Reviewed in Australia on 24 September 2020Henri is hands down one of my favourite heroines of all time, she is the epitome of perfectly imperfect. She is the idol we all need; quirky, awkward, self-less, funny, nerdy and all round adorable. She is a far cry from the usual supermodel gorgeous perfect heroine so many books throw in our faces, thanks Pippa for giving us the heroine roles models we can more readily relate with. TokTok Nonna was amusing even in her meddling ways and Dogzilla was one of the best side characters and its not a Pippa book without an amazing animal sidekick, Im not a cat person by any means but I want Dogzilla for myself. Luca on the other hand took me a very large proportion of the book to like, his dickish-ness was a little annoying and I really felt for Henri at times and could feel the little jabs into her amour even though they were un-intended, but I will say his little swearing quriks were amusing “ F$#k on a Lasagna”.
And the mascot reveal was absolutey perfect, I can admit I had a slight tear in my eye during that scene.
- Reviewed in Australia on 12 February 2021Verified PurchaseI'll admit, the heroine grew on me and I fell in love with her character as I journeyed alongside Luca. Total opposites but what a pairing! The perfect pairing. Henri was cringeworthy a disaster, but this heroine had the sweetest disposition and so positive. Precisely what Luca needed, if you want a laugh out loud Rom-Com, this is right up there. I wish this were a movie...
- Reviewed in Australia on 2 December 2020Verified PurchaseThis book had me laughing so hard that I ended up having tummy cramps... loved the main characters but I absolutely adored dogzilla. I wanna see all the outfits she has.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fake love becomes a REAL game-winning homerun!
Verified PurchaseI feel like this book is almost a love story for the stereotypical romance reader everywhere. No, wait, before you go running away... IT'S NOT A CLICHÉ! This isn't just your average very sad, lonely girl meets boy and falls in love story. I mean, it borrows things from that concept but doesn't every romance do that in a way?
Real Fake Love brings us back to the Copper Valley Fireballs (hellllllloooooo baseball!!!), namely one Luca Rossi who's sworn off love, marriage and commitments altogether - and how one very determined (if a touch lonely) romance writer named Henrietta Bacon becomes the reason he learns how to love when he's supposed to be teaching her how to deny love. Luca is the picture of pessimism and Henri is the picture perfect definition of optimism - that she teaches him how to fall in love while he's trying to teach her how not to fall in love is everything I never knew I needed in a love story!
Their roller coaster of crazy love story is brought to you with special appearances by... the Copper Valley Fireballs players (and the Thrusters!!!!), the Lady Fireballs, a team fanbase attempting to choose a mascot, a pooch with a fabulous collar, a clothes wearing lazy bones cat, a rainbow haired social media star, an inconvenient mother, and enough emotional and mental torture in the form of comparing lives instead of being uniquely yourself to make you want to wrap everyone up in blankets.
This book has everything that you would expect from a Pippa Grant story. You will laugh, you'll cry (usually because you're laughing so hard, but there are some very emotional moments), and by the end of this one you might even believe in love almost as much as Henri does. I can't wait to see more of the Fireballs - I mean, I'm dying for some Thrusters again, but it's summer time so I'm thankful for all the BASEBALL because 2020 sucks and I've been denied for a while and this tiny season doesn't count.
Run out and one-click this baby today! You won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T STOP READING BECAUSE THE REAL PAYOFF IS IN THE LAST 25%
Verified PurchaseMy first Pippa Grant book and... Wow! What a wild ride. I can honestly say this is the most unusual book I've ever read with its flight-of-ideas technique reminiscent of Robin Williams or Mrs. Maisel. The frenetic, wordy, witty, run-on sentences and shotgun humor had my mind all in a jumble and hooked from the very first page. Don't start reading until you're fully caffeinated and mentally alert because if you lose focus for even one sentence you'll miss a lot. Even the unexpected word choices, phrases and similes had me giggling.
And if that's not enough, the characters are so quirky and unique that I wanted to know where this was going. There's barely a character that doesn't make you laugh, including TikToc Nonna, MacKenzie, and even that rickety old house that Luca lives in is a character in itself.
Henrietta Leonora Bacon is truly the shining star of this story. She's just pure goodness and light. But she's one of those extraordinary people who are too good for this world and she's been beaten down so repeatedly that she literally asks Luca to teach her how not to love anymore. :-( How sad is that?
Luca Rossi would seem like the perfect person for that task since he has taught himself how not to love a long time ago. But as we see over the course of this perfectly paced story, he begins to appreciate Henri and all of her foibles and quirks for the beautiful person that she is.
So I'm rolling along having fun with this story, and then I hit chapter 30 and before I know it I'm crying like a baby. Ohmigod, my heart is breaking as I suddenly understand the depths of the wounds to Henri's spirit and self-esteem and how much she's been covering it up. And for the last quarter of the story I witness the unfolding emotional growth in these two characters that is so moving I'm in awe of Ms. Grant's talent that she could touch me in this way... in the middle of an outrageous rom/com when I least expect it.
Yes, this truly is an OTT rom/com, but it's not stupid or insulting to the reader. The situations and characters are exaggerated, but the feelings are not. And the message is not. Unique is not weird, and love just may find you whether you want it to or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much fun!
Verified PurchaseRead this at the end of the long, hard day when I finally split up with the lovely guy who just isn’t for me, but I’ve been pretending he is for a loooong time - and it made me laugh out loud so many times.
Henri is a crazy delight of a girl, who totally deserves her HEA - and getting her there is absolutely RIOTOUS.
Thank you, @Pippa Grant! 💚🏴😎🥂💚
