Turn (Gentry Generations Book 2) Kindle Edition
CASSIE
I’m determined to leave my mistakes in the past.
These days I’m back in school, I’m surrounded by my wonderful, crazy family and I’m working for my dad.
Then Curtis Mulligan happens.
A supposedly reformed gang member from the rundown prison town where my folks grew up, Curtis looks like he was built for mayhem.
We have nothing in common.
If he hadn’t taken a job working for my father, our paths wouldn’t even cross.
But I can’t admit that menacing mix of ink and muscle has flipped a switch inside of me.
It’s an impulse I’m determined to ignore.
However, when Curtis turns out to be much more than he seems and steps between me and a bad situation, I wind up owing him a hell of a favor.
And I can’t think of anything but paying him back…
CURTIS
I should have been dead a dozen times over but somehow I’m still here.
I’m grateful for the chance to keep my head down and act like a regular citizen. Screwing up isn’t an option and getting naked with the boss’s daughter is no way to thank the man for a job.
Besides, sweet, clueless Cassie Gentry isn’t the kind of girl I’m used to entertaining myself with. I had planned to keep my hands off even if she begged for it.
But that was before I realized Cassie is much more than a pretty face.
She just might be the girl who can turn me around for good...

- Reviewed in Australia on 2 February 2018Verified PurchaseCassie, twin to Cami and beloved daughter of Cord & Saylor. Due to a bullying incident which left her feeling ridiculed, ashamed and chased from school, Cassie hasn't been able to move forward with her life.
Along comes Curtis who has his own baggage to deal with and a whole bunch of responsibilities.
A good portion of this book is how much these two didn't get along despite their attraction to each other.
Inaccurate judgments of each other is what has kept these two from acting on it.
I enjoyed the build up of tension between the two and the story behind each of these characters. It made the HEA that much more satisfying.
- Reviewed in Australia on 14 January 2018Verified PurchaseI absolutely loved this book. Curtis and Cassie's story was amazing and I could not put my kindle down until I finished reading the whole book.
Cora Brent has once again written a wonderful book full of family love and compassion by the Gentr'y's for the struggling Milligan boys.
- Reviewed in Australia on 12 January 2018Verified PurchaseAnother great addition to the 2nd generation Gentry family.
Curtis doesn’t disappoint, he is worthy and loyal and just the right man to love and protect a Gentry girl.
It was great to catch up even a little with all the Gentry family, from the original boys to the cousins

- Reviewed in Australia on 7 April 2023Cassie has one thing she’s determined to do, leave the past in the past and not let it hurt her anymore.
Curtis was finally getting things on track, with a new job, he could get the apartment and look after his brothers.
Cassie Gentry wasn’t something he expected, he knew exactly what she thought of him, but he wasn’t going to correct her knowing she was out of his league.
Cassie knew the new guy Curtis was from the wrong side of the tracks, but when she learns more about him, she realises that she’s judged him all wrong.
Neither willing to act on what they know is there, a slow burn until Cassie sees that Curtis is everything she wants, but will he still want her.

The thing that annoyed me the most was the way the author used the characters FULL name (IMO) obsessively. It gets so distracting and it pulled me away from the flow of the story, which is another bone of contention. At times I felt it was ho-hum, boring actually which didn't fair well for me at the end. The EPILOGUE fell way short. Cord (Cassie's father) hopes that one of his children would take over the business and from the looks of things they will have their own careers, well what about developing the story more to include Curtis having a knack for the family business?
It just seems underdeveloped to me, which was sort of crazy because we were introduced to the very large extended family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept me hooked from the beginning.
Verified PurchaseAnother amazing book by Cora Brent. I would give it more stars if I could.
Kept me wanting more.
I was rooting for Curtis the whole time.
Cassie Gentry has a past. A past that has haunted her to this day. When her job puts a wrench in her summer plans to work, Cassie takes her dad up on his offer to work at Scratch. Where she finds herself face to face with Curtis Mulligan, bad boy from the wrong side of town.
She doesn't trust easily and her past defines who she is. She's taking things slow to get back to where she needs to be, even if it means going to community college for the time being. A summer course to help move it along, Cassie is forced to come face to face with the past again. This time, in the name of Parker Neely. Since he's in her same class, he wants to mend the ties that made her life miserable.
After seeing the worst in Curtis and the Good in her past, Parker, things start to change for Cassie. Both Curtis and Parker aren't who they seem to be. Cassie find Curtis more trusting and Parker a little too good to be true.
Curtis Mulligan lived a life no one ever wanted. He was a bad boy from Emblem and did everything to survive. He left his family at a young age to become someone he regrets. After a phone call that changed everything, Curtis finds himself back in AZ taking care of his 2 younger brothers. One doesn't have a care in the world while the other is the young enough to find the right path in life. While living out of a motel, Curtis finds himself with a real job at Scratch. No thanks to Deck Gentry. With a brother on the run and another trying to make it through summer school, Curtis knows he needs to do better. He needs a better place to raise his brothers.
Cassie Gentry was the last thing Curtis needed in his life. She was someone that was out of reach. The bosses daughter/niece. The one that could not be touched. Oh did he want to touch her. The push and pull of chemistry, the dealings of a run away brother, and the urge to fight his feelings for the one Gentry daughter he shouldn't want, Curtis proves to Cassie and Cord that he is the man they both know he is.
I enjoyed this book so much, I never wanted it to end. Cora did an amazing job with Cassie's story. She made sure you were hooked from the beginning and kept you there. Generations are my second favorite of hers, followed by all the Gentry Boys. This series is one to read..

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVED IT!
Verified PurchaseI LOVED IT!!! Cora Brent always delivers a book that you want to hold in your heart and hug the hell out of. This is no exception!!
Gentry Generations book 2! Up now is Cassie, Cord and Saylor's daughter.
Since a devastating incident in her last year of school Cassie has hid away from the world. She doesn't know what she wants to do as she lost all her confidence. On summer vacation she helps out as a favor to her dad in Scratch, the tattoo place her dad runs with her Uncle Deck. There she encounters one of the new members of staff Curtis.
Curtis has been taken on at Scratch after he reached out to Deck Gentry one of his fathers friends. He's been tasked with being guardian to his two younger brothers Tristan and Brecken after his mom goes on the run. They've lost everything so Curtis got them out of Emblem as there was nothing there for them any more. Struggling with money and looking after his brothers Curtis is determined to make a go of his new job. There's a lot of people depending on him and he won't let them down. Meeting Cassie at work he can't deny the attraction but he see's her as a privileged princess and knows someone like him would never be good enough for her.
With his outward looks and his surly reaction to her Cassie just see's him as a thug at first. But the longer she's around him she starts to see more than just that. A blast from Cassie's past threatens to bring back all her old insecurities and horrors. She knows she needs to start living again but can she really move on?
GAH!!!!! Curtis!!! I absolutely adored him! He reminded me so much of the Gentry triplets you couldn't help but fall in love with him. I loved the fact that he and his brothers were from Emblem and that Cord and Deck were there to help him out! He had the weight of the world on his shoulders but he was man enough to accept help when it was offered. I loved reading his evolution from former gang member to responsible adult he's just so.... swoon!!!! His relationship with his brothers made my heart break a little. With Tristan being an almost adult he had to stand back and let him make his own mistakes even though you could feel it was killing him to do so. His relationship with Brecken was so sweet and he's determined to do right by him. I have every body part crossed in the hope that these two boys get books somewhere along the line!
Cassie was amazing she showed such a quiet strength after everything that she had been through and she also went on an incredible journey from quiet and lost to strong and trusting. She had always had the backing of her family but it took Curtis to make her see how strong she really was. I loved that!!! They brought out the best in each other. Her kindness gave him confidence in himself and his honesty gave her the strength she needed. I also loved seeing more of her relationship with her twin sister. Such opposites in personality but both as close as can be.
It was amazing as usual to see everyone from former books pop up in here. Cord and Saylor are just the best parents ever!!! But was there really any doubt they would be?
The story kept me glued in my seat from beginning to end. The running theme through these books of family just fills your heart to overflowing. There's little hints dropped here and there of future books of family members and i honestly can't wait to get my grabby hands on any of them. All of them. I need them all now!!!!
Amazing book as always. An automatic one click author for me.
5 family stars!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Three Wise Men... The Mulligans!! 5*+
Verified PurchaseOh yes!! Turn has all the feels of the early Gentry stories, I absolutely loved it.
It’s made very clear from the very beginning that Curtis has not it had it easy the opening scene is proof of that. It’s a desperate moment, it all comes down to Cord Gentry’s decision thankfully it goes in Curtis’s favour... he’s been taken on at Scratch... it’s a start.
Curtis is sole carer for his two brothers, Bracken thirteen and Tristan who’s almost eighteen, they’ve left Emblem behind as well as Curtis’s previous life which wasn’t the best. Curtis has very different priorities now and he’s going to do his best to do the right thing, his two brothers are all he has but it is a real struggle... an emotional one at that, Tristan is not helping matters at all and in turn this causes the family unit to fragment.
First thing Curtis needs to do is get them out of the hellish Motel they are staying in, unfortunately by the time this happens Tristan is long gone along with his anger and resentment.
I was desperate for Curtis to go to Deck and ask for help early on because let’s face it he has always been the go-to guy but no way would Curtis do that, thankfully their dire situation came to light anyway, it was only then that I breathed a sigh of relief.
Cassie’s first impression of Curtis didn’t get off to a good start, it was rather a frosty introduction and continues to be. Curtis Is the way he is for many reasons, he has plenty going on as he try’s to keep it together for his brothers. Cassie has no idea she’s totally oblivious to his situation doesn’t even know he has two brothers however when all is revealed it makes sense and it’s from this point that Curtis and Cassie’s relationship takes a turn for the better.
We knew something happened to Cassie previously but it’s not until now that we get the full story and Parker Neely showing up again in Cassie’s life is something she definitely can do without. As nice as he was being to her I still had my doubts.
Turn is brilliantly written in true Cora Brent fashion... three brothers the Mulligan’s and whilst Brecken is sweet and sensitive the same can’t be said about Tristan... he is the wild child and it bought back memories, I couldn’t help thinking about Stone Gentry!!
There are plenty of times throughout the storyline where you are on the brink of tears for many reasons it’s what this brilliant author is so good at. The missing piece of the nativity set being one of them, it gives you hope that Tristan will return with it eventually.
This is just the start of what I hope to be so much more... will the next book be Cadence story?
Tristan is still out there somewhere getting caught up in who knows what... will it be his story next I hope so or will we be kept waiting on that one.
Can’t wait.!
