Fluffy (The Do-Over Series) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 3,177 ratings

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.

I'm a professional fluffer. It's NOT what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.

Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I'll wait.

See? That's the problem. My career has used the term "fluffer" for decades. I didn't even know there was a more... lascivious definition of the term.

Until it was too late.

The ad for a "professional fluffer" on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!

Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie.

Turns out a "fluffer" doesn't arrange decorative pillows on a couch. They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.

The job isn't hard. Er, I mean, it is — it's about being hard. Or, well... helping other people to be hard.

Oh, man...

And that's the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham - my high school crush.

The owner of the house where we're filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.

By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.

My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what's easier than I ever imagined?

Having all my dreams come true.

Wickedly entertaining and clever, with spot on sexual tension and banter, you won't be able to put this one down - nor will you want to!" - #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Rachel Van Dyken
"When I need an insightful, amusing, beautifully written book, I pick up a Julia Kent novel. So, it was this mindset that I read
Fluffy, a book about an accidental fluffer. Yes, that kind of fluffer. I usually laugh often while reading Julia's work, but this time, I LOL'd and ROTFLMAO'd with every dang page. Fluffy is the light and sweet side of Julia Kent, a perfect fluffernutter of romantic comedy: Very sweet, a little salty, and definitely delicious." - USA Today bestselling author Blair Babylon
"Fluffy is a laugh riot!I made the mistake of reading the book in public, and now there are places I'm not allowed to frequent anymore." -- Amazon bestselling author Jami Albright
"FLUFFY by Julia Kent is a classic Romantic Comedy with so much depth and heart that when I wasn't laughing so hard I couldn't breathe, I was sighing and falling head over heels in love with Will & Mallory." - White Hot Reads blog
"As I expected,
another winner from Julia Kent. Fluffy was a complete laugh fest and a story so engaging, you can't help but love it." - CLiK Book Blog
"I absolutely
love Julia's unique wit and ability to turn a disastrous situation into something so comical it will have the reader laughing long and loud, whilst those around them are giving questioning side glances and looks of pure confusion that say "is she alright?". I know this because those were the reactions of my husband and children while I was reading this book." - Don't Judge a Book blog

From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire she met in a romantic comedy).

She lives in New England with her husband and three children where she is the only person in the household with the gene required to change empty toilet paper rolls.

Home stager to *corn* fluffer

Home stager to *corn* fluffer
Mallory is a home stager, she has no money, and she is about to lose her apartment. She applies to a craigslist ad for a fluffer, and I guess home staging can also be called home fluffing. Surprise, it’s really it's a fluffer for a *corn* shoot, she arrives, and madness ensues. She almost gets arrested, but it turns out the rented house belongs to the parents of her high school crush Will. He saves her from going to jail and hires her to help him stage the house to sell. I really love Mallory’s internal monologue and their banter. When it gets spicy, it was so good. I do wish there had been more *corn* fluffing though.

I found this story about Mallory Monahan a home set stager who is broke and answered an ad to be a fluffer as an enjoyable, hooting with laughter, and romantic story with engaging characters. At her arriving at her job's designation, Mallory sees three guys smoking outside who tease her as she enters the house. Fixing the Feng shui, Mallory redesigns the living room furniture and meets the guys until they strip, and she realizes she was hired for something else. When the owner Will Lotham, an old high school crush arrives after being tipped off by a neighbor and then the police, what will happen to Mallory? Will Will try to help Mallory? I volunteer to read and review this book.

If I could give this more stars I most definitely would! Julia Kent is known for her quirky, funny as heck stories. If you have read her Shopping for the Billionaire or Random series, you already know the humor she can pull out of her characters, how she can take some really random story from the internet (or heck probably real life) and bring them to life in her stories so much so that you have to google them to see if something like she mentions actually exists (and most often they do). Fluffy is funny...rolling off the treadmill while you are reading funny....doubled over in laughter until tears run down your face funny. I found myself wanting to message her every five minutes because my funny bone was just tickled over and over again. But wait....as funny as this story was...I found it to be about so much more than just humor for humor's sake. Okay...not knowing what she was walking into taking a job as a fluffer is hilarious. But the back story about Mallory and Will (who I will readily admit has now surpassed Declan in my affection, which I never thought possible) is about expectations...of the past, present and future. It is about how some experiences in your past can shape the person you are even when you can't admit that they have. It is about finding the strength to just be who you are, who you are meant to be and accepting that that person is okay, that there is nothing wrong with who you are or the choices you have made. My heart was completely engaged in Mallory and Will's story as well as some of the other characters we come across. I will never, EVER look at Fluffernutters the same again. You will absolutely love this couples' "come to Jesus" moments and if you don't swoon several times in this story along with all the laughter then I have no more words. I could write a book, but I'd rather you just read it and get the complete joy of the dysfunction that is Mallory as she navigates the road into adulthood.

There were moments in this book that were funny. One thing that took away from the anything funny was Mallory's overwhelming insecurities stemming from high school. Some of her alleged naivety was so ridiculous, it fell flat. The worse part of this book was the 10 year reunion.

I was not sure how I felt about Will. At the start of the book, he seemed to be somewhat condescending and arrogant. He didn't seem to do a gradual change. It was more like one day he felt one way, suddenly, he was interested, then he confessed years of interest. Strange.

Also, I expected better from him at the reunion. What he said happened, we didn't get to read, so it didn't mean much for him to say it.

Will and Mallory did get their HEA, but I wanted him to be much more into Mallory then he appeared to be and show everyone. Mallory's 14 year unrequited obsession with Will kind of took some of the fun out of the book.

A book worth getting Kicked out of bed for! Yep I read in bed and I am not ashamed to admit it. And when I laugh so loud and so much I keep my husband up while reading a book and get kicked out of bed then you know...THIS IS A D*M* GOOD BOOK! Author Julia Kent has always been known for being one of the top RomCom authors anywhere with the Random series & Shopping for a Billionaire series but I must admit I think that Fluffy might just do these others. Oh My Goodness Mallory is a nerdy girl who is book smart but gets herself into all kinds of situations because frankly she is not to smart in the ways of the world. Life seems to throw things at her all the time and when it does it makes for the most hilarious situations. Then we have the superstar Will. He is still as hot as he was in high school and is back home working. By comedy of errors they happen to meet up at his old house and lets just say he offers her a "real job" and not the one she is there doing. So far I have read this book twice. Once when I received the ARC and then when it hit my kindle on release. I can say read it more than once... once for the humor and funny bits. Because oh my giddy aunt there are so many of them in this book. And then come back and re-read it again later as a book again. That way you are not just seeing it as a funny, humor but you can see all the under- lying things. This book isn't just good..for me it was great and i wished i could give it more than 5 stars. This is the start of a whole new crazy series and I am so happy I am on the ride at the start.

An absolutely hilarious story from Julia Kent, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you're looking for a entertaining rom-com then this book will be a perfect choice in my opinion.

Mallory crosses paths with her high-school crush Will, in a rather disastrous-yet hysterical way, that had me similtaniously rolling around with laughter as well as cringing for poor Mallory. From here their relationship progresses in a very enjoyable and engaging way.

The characters in this novel are charming, funny, and witty and there's plenty of misunderstandings to keep the story moving forward at a jaunty and absorbing pace.

I had so much fun reading Fluffy! Of course there are a lot of stereotypes from high school perpetuated but it's one of those things that are a sure go-to whenever you need to cheer up or to be cuddled!

Some parts of this were annoying to read. Her thinking was very random and awkward and I kinda just zoomed past chunks of it to get to the "good stuff". Long story short; lots of unnecessary pages of reading taht don't contribute to the overall story. But the rest of the book was awesome. I don't believe we got to see much of how Will thinks (POV) but Mallory was super funny, feisty and awesome. The ending was the perfect way to get you excited for the next story.
