Merciless Union: A Dark Mafia Arranged Marriage Romance (Blood and Thorns Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,412 ratings

Skeletons fall out of the closet as I get my memories back.

Everything changed overnight.

Truth became my enemy, and the sting of betrayal dragged me into a web of lies.

I’m damned if I fight to live and damned if I die.

The dark secrets I remember might tear my marriage apart.

Love is a myth we shouldn’t have explored.

My husband was always my enemy.

Love just made me forget and blinded me.

The cruel hand of death is the only answer when doom takes over.

I don’t know if I’ll survive.

Or if death will bury me along with the sins of my father.

Merciless Union is a dark mafia arranged marriage romance. It contains dubious situations, mature content, and graphic violence some readers might find offensive and/or triggering.

This is the last part of a duet and is not standalone.

4 1/2 Star Read. Merciless Union is the final chapter in the Blood and Thorns duet. This read has lots of suspense, betrayals, twists, and turns you don't see coming. Faith keeps you turning the pages with all the suspense and twists in this story you need to keep turning to see what happens next or gets revealed. Lucca and Aria go through much drama and terror you really feel for them and how much more can they take.
If you love a dark mafia story with lots of suspense, twists, and turns you will love this story. Faith manages to bring out the dark, violent and greedy some people can be in the mafia world. Faith shows you no one can be trusted not even those you think are close to you and in some cases, not even your own family. Due to some of the events in this story if you have any triggers this may not be the book for you. This is part of a duet so you will need to read Book One for some of the back story of what is going on in book two.

First be aware that this book has to be preceded by Merciless Vows the first book as this series as this latest offering picks up from the cliff hanger ending of that book and what a story it is With Lucca badly injured and Aria a prisoner of their enemies can there be a future Can he rescue her before she is returned to her father to be murdered so he can take her inheritance You will have to read to see

I was given a copy of this book but this is a true and honest review

Loved the book it was great, the story was written well and the characters were fantastic. This story was about an arranged marriage between Lucca (Merciless) and Aria. Aria is a pawn in the Bratva, her father wanted her back so he organised to kill everyone including Lucca. Jon who was Lucca's second in charge pulled the trigger on Lucca. Aria married Lucca she thought she was happy until it all come crashing down, she was kidnapped, and miss treated by her own father. She felt so betrayed by everyone including her husband, Lucca gave her a choice stay married or Freedom. What will she choose.

This was an amazing ending to this duet by Faith Summers. I thought the first book captured my heart and had so much happening but this book blew me away. Lots of twists and turns I was not expecting and the journey for Lucca and Aria was only beginning in the first book. So much betrayal for them both by people they loved and who will stop at nothing to get what they want. I cried on more than one occasion for Lucca and Aria as it appeared as though they would never have their happily ever after but fate intervened for them both. This author has a way with words that will take you on an enormous roller coaster ride as the realisation of the betrayal for them both is beyond anything that either could have imagined. Their love is real and passionate and their heartbreaking moments touch you to your soul. I could not put this book down and even when I finished I held it like I was expecting more words to jump out at me that is how this book has affected me. A beautifully told story by Ms Summers who has a new fan in me and I look forward to reading many more of her books.

I received an arc copy and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is raw, brutal, sexual, romantic, and riveting storytelling at its best, but it is not for the faint-hearted. so please a warning for those who may be triggered. There is a lot here to be triggered about.

    Having said that…

If I wanted a word to describe the storyline it would be the antithesis of what all good mafia personnel are supposed to uphold… not loyalty but betrayal in all its forms.
Both Lucca and Aria have been betrayed in the worst kind of way and this story deals with the real underbelly and human dregs of society. The plot twists, turns, and cliffhangers (Book 1 ended on one) left me breathless.
It’s not often I read a book and need to take a breather but at the same time can’t put the book down because I’m reeling emotionally from the storytelling.
There is no doubt that Khardine Gray and Faith Summers know how to write the darkest of dark mafia romances and Merciless is an excellent addition!

I was sent a free book and am choosing to leave this review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a Thrilling and Twisted Read!

After the amazing revelation the first book in the Blood and Thorns Duet was for me, I couldn’t wait to continue Lucca and Aria’s journey in Merciless Union. This second installment was simply electrifying! I loved every single instant of my read, packed with outrageous disclosures, sinfully hot encounters, profound feelings and it had adrenaline coursing through my veins from all the action. I was appalled at some deeply disturbing secrets unveiled and swooned over the evolution of Lucca and Aria’s romance that got truly breathtaking. This world of violence, corruption and depravity was utterly mesmerizing with its sparks of light, hope and devotion. Faith Summers is an author I look forward to reading more of her backlist novels. This duet was simply magnetic on all levels!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dramatically epic love story where light and love outshines and prevails despite the darkness

Merciless Union: A Dark Mafia Arranged Marriage Romance (Blood and Thorns Duet Book 2) by Faith Summers is a sweepingly dramatic conclusion of Aria and Lucca's love story. Blood and Thorns is a fitting description as blood is life and thorns hurt. There is so much hurt and darkness in their lives, from their individual youths to the present, together and apart. But because of their heartfelt and precious beginning as children, you can't help but hope for this love to surpass any and all obstacles.
As one would expect from a dark, mafia world romance, the plot places each of them in peril (repeated) and the vile evilness that surrounds them is a constant presence that suffocates and blankets every good thing with danger lingering in the air. This book was a page turner as little nuggets of revelations are spread throughout. With each new revelation, I was simply compelled to continue to see what Lucca and Aria would do or what evil antagonism would befall them next. It's a constant back and forth giving the reader that sense of just waiting for the other shoe to drop and put our hero and heroine in peril once again. But it's not only their dark world, the mafia elements and danger that make this such a compelling read. Aria's amnesia, the forced marriage, trauma from her childhood and coming to terms with what she should want and what her heart wants is just the tip of the ice berg. In addition to the action, the steamy interludes with Lucca, there is a deeply emotional and psychological aspect as well. And it's not just Aria that goes through it. Lucca has his own deeply disturbing emotional and psychological issues to deal with both past and newly present.
While the dark romance elements and the mafia world make this book intriguing, the characters make it exceptional.
Overall, Lucca and Aria are stronger together and prevail against all the odds. Their love shines through giving them the impetus to survive. Not only do they survive, but Aria thrives and Lucca basks in the glow of his, Aria's and their family's HEA.

4.0 out of 5 stars What an ending to the duet

A masterful ending to the duet. This story is heart breaking. It will break your heart, mend it and then break it again. The suspense in this book is so intense and we'll written that it gets hard to leave the book. My heart goes out to the two protagonists, Lucca and Aria. Both have gone through soo much already, but the things that unravel in this book are just insane and I have no idea how someone survives these secrets unravelling. They are super strong characters with loads of emotional baggage and trauma attached to their childhood and adult life.

Some elements of the story revolve around sexual child abuse. This part really made me uncomfortable. Faith summers doesn't really cover the brutality of abuse. She writes it the way it should be written. This can also be a trigger for some.

The one part that affects my rating is that I somewhere was able to predict the ending, as in who did it. And it wasn't really a surprise for me.

However, this book is super well written, with an epic cast of characters who are morally grey. All mafia romance lovers should pick this duet up. It will be worth your time for sure.
