- Reviewed in Canada on May 25, 2020I really liked this book.
The author does a masterful job alternating the POV between Sabrina and Logan with each new chapter. It somehow makes it into a very smooth read, and isn’t the least bit distracting.
Besides loving the way xGillian Archer writes, I also loved the story. I found it has it all: romance, drama, 4 overprotective brothers and their Wives or gfs, puppies, action, comedy, all kinds of other family members and fires. I mean, how could those ingredients possibly make a story? Read it and find out!
I received a free review copy from the author and publisher through NetGalley. This review reflects my honest thoughts and opinions about the book.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 28, 2020Lots of angst, lots of drama, lots of steam. It took me a little while to warm up to Sabrina. Even though I loved her interaction with her brothers, I felt her reactions to ‘bad news’ a bit immature and selfish. Maybe because of her age? Logan was a typical tortured, angsty hero. Even though he was described as being physically scarred with burns, this story thread didn’t seem to be as developed as his emotional trauma.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loving the Burns Brothers series
Verified PurchaseI really enjoyed SPARK, the third book in Gillian Archer’s Burns Brothers series. A second chance romance with a take-no-crap heroine and a broken, walled-off hero, it was a really good read.
Sabrina & Logan’s time together had been short lived before he left for work and she never heard from him again. This was a couple who should have been together from the outset, so his reasons for not getting in touch had to be pretty serious..... especially as he broke something inside of her in the process.
There was a lot going on in this story, not only did Sabrina come face to face with the one guy she’d felt so much for, secrets and lies from her own life come tumbling out and then she finds out exactly why Logan cut her off and ignored her as he had.
I’m loving the Burns siblings and I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sabrina & Logan!!!
Verified PurchaseThis series just keeps pulling me in! I love this family!! Sabrina & Logan's story is heartbreaking, but also has a lot of humor, and some suspense sprinkled in. The theme of their story, and the little surrounding stories w/in their romance, is forgiveness, and how saying your sorry needs to have action behind it. Love that!
Also, there are puppies! *heart eyes*

4.0 out of 5 stars good
Verified PurchaseDidn’t hated it but didn’t love it. I enjoyed reading Logan & Sabrina’s story. But I’m not a big fan of books where the main character get back together because of a misunderstanding or they lost touch after so many years or whatever the case is. It still was good read. Happy to finally have Sabrina story. Definitely look forward to the next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Combustible
Verified PurchaseThis Burns Brothers series is fantastic, every book is different but all connect and each reveals more about the family and it’s dynamics. Each have relevant issues about every day life and this story is about Sabrina Wagner, the cousin of the brothers or little sister as they think growing up together and so close. I really like that dynamic too.
I love these characters, they are so real and say things as they are without any rubbish getting in the way. They may have a tendency to be a bit brutal with their honesty though. 😆 The sense of humour throughout the story is on point and you often find yourself chuckling out loud.
Logan Carter is a complicated character and one who at times I wanted to shake but he had his reasons. He is endearing though and yummy to boot. Sabrina has an inner strength that she’s had to draw on lots of times but in this book it is strained quite a bit. I enjoyed her strong personality and the way she gives as good as she gets. She certainly doesn’t let the men in her life walk all over her, including Logan, which is terrific to see.
A great balance between some deeper elements about a variety of emotional traumas and situations that run deep and are handled well and a light, fun story with a fabulous romance.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed it but didn't really like the hero
Verified PurchaseI was so excited to get Sabrina's story! She always seemed fun to me so I couldn't wait to dive into her snarky book. Kinda bummed that I didn't love it as much as I wanted to. While Sabrina has always stood up for herself when it comes to her brothers that didn't change with Logan and I loved it! But that only lasted for about five min. Logan was a giant jerk and I get it, he was hurting, he has issues that he has refused to work out for the last two years. What I didn't get was how it all flipped and they are back together? It seemed to come out of no where and I didn't understand it. I still enjoyed the story and will continue with the series.
