He could try all he wanted.

He wouldn’t break me.

How could he… I was already broken.

For those that love a-- h--- male protagonists, many will love Jake. He makes it very easy to love to hate him. He has his moments of being sweet but I have to say, I was irritated with Jake’s treatment of Amalie. He projects a great deal of his issues onto her and makes her life hell. For Amalie’s part, she seems to do well to ignore Jake and I applaud her for this action. However, I was frustrated with how easily she forgives his transgressions. After being treated like dirt, she has no issue with spending time with him and even enjoying his company. Yes he has had a difficult upbringing but that doesn’t excuse his actions. Nor is it justifiable. Despite these feelings, I did enjoy reading the story. I was compelled to continue reading and discover where the story would lead us. I love Mason because he has the courage to stand up to his best friend when he knows what he is doing isn’t right. I look forward to seeing the stories of some of the other characters and see where their journey leads them.

Jacob/ Jake has treated like crap by his extended family, to the point where he lives in a trailer on the family's property. Amalie has been forced from the UK after the death of her famous photographer and supermodel parents and at 18 she should be off to college, not starting junior year at an american high school. Pretty much they are both messed up real bad!⠀

I loved this book. Jake really has layers like an onion and turns into a good guys. Can't pass up a bully romance and this one had twists and turns. But be warned, it ends with a link to Book 2 - Paine - which is about Camila and Mason. It's not a cliffhanger as such, but an easy link to go straight into the next book. 5/5 and I and trying to wait patiently for book 2.⠀

I struggled through this book , it’s meant to be a bully romance but for most of the book there was a lot of ‘thinking about making her life hell’ and not really a lot of doing… he said a few mean things but to be honest I think it would have been more effective to NOT have thorns POV In the first half and got to know him later and learn why he was acting that way …
I really didn’t connect with either of the MCs and I pushed my way through the book in hope of it getting better but ended up feeling meh .
I’m not sure if this was one of the authors first books as I’ve read one of her other series and it was much better …

Thorn is book 1 in the Rosewood High Series and is Jake and Amalie's story. It is an enemies to lovers, high school bully new adult romance with mature content

I really enjoyed this story, it was captivating, fast paced, well written and I found myself not wanting to put it down. It was full of angst and a few heart wrenching, raw and real moments as well as some sweet ones

Jake started off as an unlikable character (purposely of course). He was the king of the high school and cold, distant, arrogant, the way he spoke about females was hard to hear at times and his hatred for Amalie didn't seem justifiable to begin with but as the story progressed and he slowly let down his walls and the more you got to know him and his back story and where his animosity stems from you start to understand his pain and will surely fall in love with him like i did. I loved watching his character grow and seeing him realise that maybe he was wrong to think and feel the way he did about certain situations at the beginning

Amalie was such a strong and beautiful character. I loved everything about her. Here she is in a new country at a new school after loosing both her parents in a horrible accident and being tormented by the schools hot shot popular athlete for reasons she does not know. I like how she stood her ground and pushed back each time she was pushed even though she couldn't help but be drawn to the schools bad boy Jake

I was also super intrigued by the side characters and can not wait for Paine Book 2 in this series

Wow, this was a fast paced read for me and a really good bully romance. You think Jake Thorn has the perfect life, the money, the fame of being the football Captain and girls begging for his attention, well you would think wrong and it only takes one look at the somewhat broken Amelie to bring this bad boy to his knees.

Amelie is trying to get over the death of her parents and her big move from the UK to the USA. She has to start a new school and basically wants to stay under the radar which isn’t going to happen when Jake takes an instant dislike to her and tries to make her life a living hell. There are some really cruel moments from Jake in this book and the things that not only he does to her but also his gang. Amy is the strong sort though and she isn’t going to let this bad boy best her, if anything she is going to keep pushing at him until she finds out what his problem is.

There is definitely a connection between the two straight away and it is a slow burn to red hotness in 0.1 seconds. There is a lot of development between the two characters and how they feel as well as what has sparked the trauma between the two of them, which in essence brings them closer together.

This is a great bully romance/ enemy to lovers’ book which is an easy read with a great story-line. It would be interesting to pop back in on these characters when they are older to see if any of the issues had been resolved and how they are handling things.

ARC received for a fair and honest review.

I just couldn’t get into this story
And im 100% sure that the reason for him not liking her is because he got mummy issues.
    Thats just not good enough.

This book was amazing! For a bully, enemies to lovers style I felt for all the characters and understood where each were coming from. That’s a rare find in a bully style high school romance!

Jake is such a broken guy but hides it so well in his bad boy persona! His past is such a heartfelt broken one. Amalie is hurting by what’s she’s coming from in England and Jake doeant make it any easier. They keep finding their way to each other and it’s explosive chemistry, to say the least!

I listened to this on audible and loved the narrators as well as the story. Now onto Book 2, Paine!

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit forced, but ok

The instant sparks/hate that continue from the first chapter until almost the end seem a bit forced, but "chemistry" can be a thing. ..probably.
The presentation of the characters' personalities foreshadows what in real life can unfortunately develop into an abusive relationship, so it's probably good that this ends on a positive note. Mostly.
The pushy friend dynamic is also a bit overdone, especially when the f protagonist is supposed to have a strong will of her own.
    Not bad, but not exceptional.

This is the first book in this series in the Rosewood High Series book #1. This book will totally make you feel and the life that these characters have had and everything that they have been through really had me feeling for them both. This enemies to lovers story is a fanatic read and I cant wait to dive into the next book Paine book #2.

This is Amalie and Jake Thorn's story and you will not be able to take your eyes of of either of them.

Amalie is a beautiful British girl, the English rose and she has had a complete tragedy in her life and ends up needing to go and live with her gran from London all the way to America and goes to an American school her life has been totally up ended and its hard. Losing her parents, moving to America and going to a new school and now she had the added problem of the unwanted attention from Thorn.

Jake is the king of the school and everyone listens to him, he is also a very tormented dude that also has had things very difficult and he is also an arrogant cocky dude but he is also the extremely popular football player on the team. Jake has also been through a lot in his life like Amalie has but he instantly takes a dislike to her because she reminds him of 'HER' and he is a total ass.

This author has an awesome writing style that is really easy to follow and this story completely flows throughout and she writes these characters absolutely fantastic. At first I absolutely hated Jake and I wanted to throw my kindle he made me mad and I loved Amalie and when an author can make you feel those kind of feelings while reading there books its awesome. The chemistry that these two have between each other is hot and they have a strong connection and even though they both have these kinds of feelings inside each other, I was hooked seeing how these two would navigate each other. I loved how we could see them develop throughout the book and getting to know everything. This bully romance will keep you hooked and reading right until the very end. I loved all the other characters in this book to they are all very intriguing and I cant wait to read more about them throughout this series.
