No Cap (Carter Brothers Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,038 ratings

You know when you see that big red flag, and you think to yourself, I should probably not go anywhere near there?

Yeah, Quincy Carter ignored that big red flag. He walked right up to that red flag, waving blatantly in the wind, and kissed the holy hell out of her.

Sure, he probably should’ve arrested her for breaking a restraining order.

He probably also should’ve stopped her from continuing to break that restraining order.

Yet… he can’t.

By the time he realizes he’s in deep, Quincy has no other options but to ride the wave of continuous disaster that is Hollis Aue.

***

Hollis Aue is on the road to revenge.

After a famous comedian rips her best friend in the middle of his biggest show ever and elevated her disabilities to the butt of his joke, her best friend spirals.

After finding out from a kindhearted detective that her best friend took her own life, Hollis makes it her new mission to make that comedian’s life a living hell.

The only problem with that is Detective Quincy Carter with the Dallas Police Department insinuates himself into her life, making it impossible for her to achieve her goals.

Try as she might, she can’t shake him, and soon, the lines between hate and love start to blur.

Oh my gosh, loved the start to this new series❣️I’ve been waiting for Quincy’s story for what feels like ages after we met him the first time and it did not disappoint. It has a little bit of everything we’ve come to know and love about LLV books, with some suspense, romance and twists.

Hollis and Quincy are just perfect together and their chemistry is tangible. I can’t wait for more Carter brother stories as I fell in love with them all and now I’m thinking of getting myself arrested for something, anything as long as it’s a Carter brother that takes me away😂 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review.

No Cap by Lani Lynn Vale
    Carter Brothers #1

This is another new series that Lani had written and it’s just as good as her others. This one is about the Carter Brothers most specifically this book is about Quincy and Hollis.

Now if you have read Lani’s Welcome to the Circus Series you would have already been partially introduced to Quincy and the other Carter brothers who are all cops! This is how Quincy happens to met Hollis. These two have a spark from the very beginning and Hollis’s strong personality is exactly what Quincy needed.

This book is funny, full of banter with strong willed Main Characters which both have a soft spot for each other. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend this new series, I can’t wait for book 2.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of No Cap and for that I am very grateful.

No Cap by Lani Lynn Vale is book one in the new Carter Brothers series. The story focuses on Quincey and Hollis. Hollis is not a girl to mess with, after the tragic death of her friend by a comedian who makes her the butt of his jokes, Hollis is determined to make him pay anyway she can but try and stay in the law doing it. The only problem is police officer, Quincey who keeps popping up everywhere she is, trying to keep her from jumping too far down the rabbit hole. Instantly there are sparks between the two, but both characters seem to have a lot going on before they get together.

I did love Quincey’s family and you instantly feel the love between all of them. (If you have read Welcome to the Circus series, you will have met some of the characters before) and know that they have each other’s back. And what Quincey does for Hollis after he met her family was just beautiful, although I don’t know if Hollis’s brother can quite be redeemed. There is just a great sense of emotion in this book that you want to know what happens to the characters. To say that both Hollis and Quincy have been through a lot and come out of the other side as good, hard-working people is an understatement. The fact that they found each other is just beautiful!

As always with Lani Lynn Vale books, there’s drama, suspense, some laugh out oud moments and everything in between. A great start to a new series!

I am always so excited to start a new series feom LLV.

No Cap is book 1 in the Carter Brothers series and man did it start with a bang.
Straight into the feels with an emotional beginning but then the hilarity and chaos ensued.

Quincy and Hollis are perfectly suited and I was loving every interaction they had. I am so invested in this series already and cannot wait to see what the next books have for us.

Quincy and Hollis... The names had me sold.

I love a fresh series with new characters and endless possibilities. I enjoy even more when we get to see old and much loved faces pop in.

Hollis is a prickly little thing and I loved her for it. She cracked me up with her sharp tongued attitude. Blunt honestly and grouchy nature. She experienced a life time of hurt and disappointment only to loose someone who meant everything to her. A grudge would be an understatement for the rage Hollis felt and I didn't blame her one single bit. She's fiercely loyal and under the anger and snappy attitude was a sweet very few got to experience. I loved that about her.

Quincy is dabbling in places he had no business dabbling in and he ends up stalking a stalker. No I'm serious. It is hilarious. Quincy is just the right about of hard and sweet. He's committed to his job, it's his life. But, he knows Hollis is more than crazy. He knew she was his. His immediate protectiveness had me swooning. He had morals and loyalty and so much sweet I could not cope.

I loved them together. They really shouldn't have worked. Him a law man and her a law breaker. Hilarious as it was they just clicked. She didn't take his bull or need him. He gave her the space to be soft without feeling weak. They had a sweet balance and even when life got in the way they still managed to find a way to make it work. I loved them. The chemistry is perfection and the growth of them as a couple is the sweetest. The epilogue... I could not. The sweetest.

The brothers... colour me curious about every damn one of those delicious specimens.

The scene with Zilla and Quin.. I about died laughing.

This book nearly offed me.I'm not even joking. I'm in the pits of hell with a sinus infection and the first chapter had me crying HARD. Have you ever cried with a sinus infection? I was legit drowning in my own snot.

But what a way to kick off this series. I am so looking forward to all the dysfunctional family gathers and the new faces they bring with each book.

I have enjoyed every single book I have read of Lani Lynn Vale, and this one didn't disappoint at all. Hollis is cranky, sassy and has the biggest heart. Quincy is just a perfect book boyfriend, he takes one look at Hollis and he comes up with ways to put himself in her path. You are going to love Quincy's family. I already have book 2 waiting. My hope is each Carter sibling will get their own story.

This was a great way to start a series!! Quincy and Hollis were a hoot together, and his brothers are all funny! If you love LLV's books, you'll love this one too. I really like how this book is interwoven with the Fun House series...family ties make funny things happen. It made me laugh at Hollis' antics and Quincy's response to them. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and you will, too!!

I absolutely freakin loved this. I'm a huge LLV fan. She takes all those topics that writers show fear at putting down on a page and mixes it all up with a characters quirks and tics that usually give readers hives. It's a belly laugh of words and emotions so beautifully wrapped up in a package called Hollis & Quincy. I cant wait for the next adventure.
