Saving Levi : Friends to Lovers, Military Romance (Oakside Military Heroes Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 459 ratings

I dated her best friend in high school. That makes her an automatic no-no. Don’t go there, right?

Wrong.

I can’t stop thinking about her.

We’re friends. Best friends. She’s the one I can talk to. Guy like me, in this life, that’s priceless. Especially since I just was discharged from the military with an injury that’s changed my life.

She’s precious to me, but I can’t go there.

Right?

The only problem, I can’t stop thinking about her.

Loved the dual narration of Helena Walters and Oliver Highpoint. Who bring the emotions, angst and romance to your ears.

Mandy couldn’t believe her eyes she is Charity Coordinator at Oakside. While working late one evening when she hears a patient who had come downstairs for a snack. Levi who used to date her best friend, Rebecca. Levi and Rebecca had split up because he was going into the military and she was going away to college.
Levi is at Oakside after loosing his leg. Since being at there he has been struggling, but seeing Mandy again seemed to ignite a spark that had him looking towards the possibility of a future. While the two of them spend time together, they grow closer. With unresolved issues, causing issues these two must put the past behind them to find their happiness.

Mandy couldn’t believe her eyes when she looked up to see her friend, who was also her best friend’s ex and whom she hadn’t seen for years, looking back at her from her office door. Levi had been in a funk since arriving at the centre, however, seeing Mandy again seemed to ignite a spark that had him looking towards the possibility of a future. Spending time together brought them closer, but they both still had unresolved issues that had reeked havoc on their relationship and nearly cost them their happiness.

This was an emotionally challenging story, about the trials and tribulations the men who lay down their lives for their country go through when they return, the lack of continuity of their care and the difficulties they face trying to return to civilian life. I was really moved by the story and I hope that anyone who reads this story, will not only recommend it, but also find out how they can contribute or even volunteer their time to help at the nearest military rehabilitation centre.

I received an advanced copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have enjoyed seeing Mandy and Levi reconnect and grow their friendship into something more. There's another wonderful dog to steal your heart in this one and you get to catch up with how things are going for previous couples of this series and see some truly lovely bonds between men.

I love the honesty to this series, life is not always easy and some days are harder than the rest, and then there are the days that come from nowhere and have you feeling that your world is crashing down around you. This shows the strength and bravery in admitting to your feelings, your fears and asking for and accepting the help you need to get by.

I loved the support, understanding, acceptance, and respect in this and I loved the friends who stand by you no matter what and will never shy away from telling you the truth. This is such a good series that shows the pain, the sadness, the anger, joy, happiness, hope and love that always shines through.

Another fantastic book in this series! Mandy has been working at Oakside for quite some time but never expects to find her friends ex boyfriend, Levi, is a patient. What initially starts out as friendship soon turns out to be more however Mandy’s friend doesn’t agree with Mandy persuing things, leaving Mandy conflicted on what to do, follow her heart or follow her friend. With the added complication of their relationship, and Levi battling to deal with the changes in his life it’s unclear if there is any kind of future for them both. As always, these books are filled with so much emotion, you just can’t leave them down. The characters are amazing and the storylines have you hooked. An amazing book in an amazing series and I would definitely recommend.

I love this Oakside series, I love how veterans all suffering in one way or another are brought together and then matched with their significant others. And I have been a huge fan from the start...

But for me, Saving Levi fell a little short of my expectations. We have the same insta spark as previous books, it started off beautifully but then tapered off into a story which I felt was missing huge chunks of information to create those long lasting connections I wanted (&needed) to read.
I enjoyed how we saw snippets into the other main characters of the series lives and how they're progressing. And of course, how we had an insight again into a veteran who has been injured in the line of duty and their thought processes, their ups and their downs and the way they overcome it to become the best person they can be - whatever the journey.

However, depsite my expectations not being met this time, I will continue to read this series as I feel invested into Oakside and its development.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Past, the Present and a Future?
Reviewed in the United States on 4 June 2022
I encountered Saving Noah just last week; I then purchased the next 3 books and preordered book 5. These are all standalone books but are so much much better when read in order. Beloved characters can be found in each of the books. Wounded warriors and the strong women who love them (and smack them upside the head as needed). Laughter and tears, thought provoking. Moments. I loved all four of the books (I am already rereading the series -- yes, these books are warm moments and serious pauses and so much more). Bravo!!

Another lovely read about an injured soldier and how he finally comes to terms with his disability. He meets someone working at the rehab centre who he has known before he joined the services. They have so many obstacles to overcome but finally all is well.

I've loved this series up until this book. Compared to the others, there were a lot of grammar errors and she didn't label the last several chapters to identify who's point of view we were reading. I also found that the story didn't flow as well. They didn't really talk about why Levi was there in the same detail as previous books, and I felt myself asking more questions when the book was finished.

I still love the stories, I just wish she didn't make those changes to her writing formula.

5.0 out of 5 stars Levi's adjusting to life outside the military.
Reviewed in the United States on 20 February 2022
I was a Red Cross Volunteer in the Amputee Ward in an Army Hospital during the Vietnam War, so this book took my interest, so much so I've read the book twice and may read it again, it is so true to what I saw as I worked with the amputees. UP TO DATE: Mandy worked at Oakside along with Lexi and Noah. Lexi had started Oakside when Noah was discharged from the hospital after being burned in the war. She wanted a place where the military could go to transition from the military life to real life. Levi is a patient at Oakside, where he ran into Mandy. Mandy, Levi, and Rebecca were close friends in high school. Levi dated Rebecca, but broke up after graduation because Levi enlisted in the Army. Levi is in a wheelchair because he had lost part of his leg and was waiting for a prosthesis. Levi goes through many mood swings adjusting to his new life.
Will Levi finally adjust to the new life? Will Mandy be able to tell Rebecca about Levi? Will Levi and Mandy become more than just friends?
Please read the book, I think you will like it.
I received this book from StoryOrigin for an ARC and I am giving my honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mandy and Levi
Reviewed in the United States on 17 August 2022
One night while Mandy was working late she gets a visitor looking for a snack. It is then she realizes it's Levi, her friends ex-boyfriend. She shares a snack with him and as a routine starts she starts spending more and more time with Levi. Before things get to serious she makes a choice to tell her friend but can't bring herself to do it. Mandy and Levi are doing so well until one day they aren't. Their relationship changes and so does her relationship with her friend. This was a great book and a little look into what injured soldiers go through. It also shows us what it takes to stand by their side and give them all the support they need, either near or far from them.
