It’s not often I do something that could get my junk in a jam.

    Princess Octavia and Finley had a wonderful childhood together, but after he had to leave the palace they no longer had the chance to meet; she was guarded in the palace while he tended the donkeys in the fields. While he trained to be a guard they met again and she sought his help to fenagle her way to find freedom from the palace without her guards. She was desperate to experience life and love that she had been denied all her life.

What follows is a hilarious but poignant Cyrano-esque comedy of errors that kept me reading far too late into the night. I couldn’t wait to see how a knight in dull, rusty armor would win the heart of the princess.

    This royal read had me laughing like the court jester, while it's touching emotion was like a dagger to the heart. Our princess may be innocent, but once she makes her choice to rebel, she grabs on to life with both hands and doesn’t let go, even if it could get her royally banished. Maybe with a little help from her brother the prince and his in-laws, the Pickle family, Octavia and Finley may just get their fairytale ending. Quirky and charming but enchantingly heartfelt, this regal read will be one of your very best rom-coms this year, so make sure you don’t miss it! (The castle still has a dungeon, and the guards know how to use it. Just sayin'.)

    Being a member of royalty isn't always what it's cracked up to be. Just ask real-life royals and members of peerage whose tales read more like cautionary ones or straight-up nightmares rather than fairy tales. So Princess Octavia being someone who was stuck in a gilded cage made it easy to empathize with her desire to break free and rebel. Now, this being a JJ Knight romance, there's a lot of humor and lighthearted fare, so don't think of Vi's story as one that will leave a reader downtrodden. There's also a great deal of romance once she rekindles her connection with Finley. Her naivete is nicely balanced out with her more daring side, and being around Finley as well as her younger sister, Princess Lili, gave her that bit of courage to step out of the predetermined lines set by her parents. I loved seeing Vi come into her own and finally take a stand and fight for her happiness. Finley was the perfect partner, someone who saw the real her and had already established a friendship with her from all those years ago. Of course, the cameo appearances of Prince Leo and Sunny and the Pickle crew was a bonus that brought in even more laughs. I thoroughly enjoyed Vi and Finley's sweet, steamy, and snicker-worthy story, and look forward to Lili's next! 4.5 stars go to Royal Rebel.

    I have loved each of the Pickle stories and when you throw in a prince or princess it only gets better for me.
    I loved the second chance for Octavia and Finley. Growing up together until he was seven and now meeting again when he is training to be a guard. It is a recipe for love or disaster. I loved that Finley was so sweet and understanding towards Octavia's predicament.
    The story is fun, sweet, easy to read, and you will fall in love with Octavia and Finley. Author J.J. Knight has a way with this Pickleverse and expanding it with the royal family of Avalonia and you have winners for me. I can not wait for the next book to see what happens with Lili in Royal Escape.

    Octavia is something else, infatuated, she is a twelve years old kid in a woman’s body, I thought of her like Tom Hanks in Big, even her sister younger by three years is more mature than her.
    Yet she must make her own mistakes how else is she to know what is love or not.

    It does not have the hilarious side of Single Dad on Top but it is a sweet story with a tender side as Fin accepts everything from and for Octavia. She is a bit slower to realize what is going on and to decide what she wants, really, but her gilded cage did not help her to develop an independent streak just a bit of rebelling, why she had to mature in one night, not an easy feat to then take matter in her own hand.

    I really enjoyed Octavia and Finley’s best friends to lovers with a side of royalty story. It was filled with all the emotions, the connections and the love. Octavia is a 23 year old princess of a small European nation. She has been sheltered and isolated her whole life especially from males her own age. Finley is the son of a palace laundress and was Octavia’s BFF until they were 7 when they were separated because of royal rules. Octavia is convinced she’s in love with a guard trainee, Gregor, from watching him from the palace tower. When she attempts to contact him she accidentally confesses her love to Finley who agrees to be the go between between Gregor and Octavia. As he’s playing Cyrano, old and new feelings emerge for both Octavia and Finley. On the way to their HEA, Octavia and Finley have to embrace that their feelings for each other are real, deal with their class difference, deal with family drama, and circumvent royal rules and protocol. They are portrayed as real, relatable people (even if one is a princess) who have flaws, but are really trying to just do their best as messy humans. Octavia and Finley’s story has all the feels - expect to laugh, cry, cringe, hiss, and root for the main characters to admit their feelings and embrace all the love. I am excited to read Lili’s story next.
