- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2021It pains me to give this book 4 stars because I like the characters and the plot sooooo much. However, I feel like it needed more depth, story-wise and character-wise. There was too much internal monologue. I would have wanted more interaction/dialogue between the two main characters.
I love how they started with a strong chemistry, albeit in an arrange marriage. I would have liked to see more jealousy on Eoghan's part, see Maxim show liking to Inessa for that to happen, and Inessa seeing that Eoghan truly does love her.
There was a good amount of build up of their relationship but then the supposedly climax -- when they'd say they love each other -- was flat. Inessa said he loves Eoghan. End of Chapter. Next chapter, a few days/weeks later, Eoghan recalls how he said he loved her too. I was like, ummm, okay, I would have liked to read rhis on going saying of "I love you's" versus the characters just telling me they said it already, and I missed it.
Serena Akeroyd is a great writer. I love this series. I love the characters. But I've noticed a pattern between Eoghan's book and Finn's book -- the climax parts are flat. She builds great characters, have great plots, have great build up, then bammm, the end. I ended both books wanting more emotions.
Because I'm a sucker for Irish books (hubby is Irish) and my kids are halflings, I will read the next book. But if it falls flat one again, it will probably be the last.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2024I made the mistake of reading this at work. I mean, it wasn't a mistake to read it, but at work where I can't exactly hoot and holler over the spicy parts? Mistake on my part.
I started reading this author's MC books, and an ad of fb led me to this book, which once I realized it was the same author I got excited. I skipped Finn's story because I just didn't realize his book came first but even so, it didn't detract from this story.
The plot is solid. The spice is four-chilis delightful, the unhinged men are certainly unhinged. 10/10 recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2025Eoghan and Inessa's story showed what families did to make alliances. In their case, Eoghan, Irish Mob and Inessa, Russian Bravta. He was much older than she was when their marriage agreement was arranged. She was 16, on her 18th birthday, she would marry him. She was abused by her father and her husband would handle things his way. It was good, but felt very rushed at the end, for this reason I could not rate it higher. I believe the story deserved better.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2023This book was both enjoyable and steamy. I love a good mafia romance. and I LOVED Eoghan and Inessa together. Their pact, their protectiveness over each other, their *fans face*... It had me coming back to read and/or listen as often as I could. I was actually bummed that they didn't get the ending they deserved. It was too overcrowded with setups for the next books. I just didn't feel like it did these characters justice and took away from their earned HEA. I actually had to go back and check to make sure I didn't miss anything because I was listening to the audiobook when I reached the end of the story. In fact, it felt like their story ended when the guys went on the rescue mission. I couldn't give the book 5 stars even if I'd wanted to because I was so disappointed in the ending. Otherwise, it was a good read, and I was invested in the characters. Obviously, since I'm salty on both their behalf and mine.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2025Great read. Started off a little ruff but turned to be a great book. Goes to show you that it’s the quiet ones you have to watch.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2021This series is intertwined with the Satan Sinners MC series. While they could probably be read as stand-alones, I HIGHLY advise they be read in recommended order.
Contains multiple subjects that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, restraints, deprivation, spanking, breath play, voyeurism, exhibitionist, etc. and violence such as kidnapping, abduction, murder, torture, rape, betrayal, assault, as well as mental, physical abuse and domestic abuse.
WARNING: Also contains themes of mental illness as well as mental and physical child abuse.
There are some grammatical issues including misspellings, incorrect words, and missing and extra inserted words. I am trying to mention these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.
I love how the series are intertwined and the cross over of characters and plots between the two. It really helps bring the dark themed story and characters to life. While this one is not as dark as I expected since Eoghan is a sniper, it still has plenty of scenes for fans of the genre, plus Serena Akeroyd brings the twists in the story that I have come to expect from one of her stories. Color me a fan …
Here is a high level overview of how the story begins:
Inessa is the daughter of a Russian Bratva Pakhan who has been contracted into an arranged marriage with Eoghan, a made man with the Five Points Irish mafia. He is not happy that his bride to be is so young, 16 at the time of the signing. They are set to marry on her 18th birthday, so Eoghan spends the next 2 years avoiding every get together / meet and greet.
Eoghan even skips the early birthday dinner the night before the wedding, so the first time he meets Inessa is at the alter. After she walks down the aisle, his BS meter goes off when he sees that she is in a high-necked, long-sleeved gown, with a thick veil. What is her SOB of a father trying to get away with, because Eoghan knows it is something. So he throws her freaking “death” flower bouquet to her matron of honor, and lifts her veil to reveal what he suspected … someone has beaten his new bride …

3.0 out of 5 stars Inessa y Eoghan son hermosos y explosivos juntos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favourite so far!
Loved this book, the five points books are definitely softer and more romance than the Satan’s Sinners. I love how the stories connect but the whole vibe of each series is much different and how consistent Serena is in keeping each series in their respective styles and vibes.
I have to say Eoghan has been my favourite of the men so far. He has been kind, understanding and protective of his younger wife. He could have been a jerk to her but understood she was in the same situation and did everything he could to make her life better. While he is a teddy bear with Inessa he is vicious in his protectiveness of her and damn that is hot.
The steam level of this book is hot. Lots of great steamy scenes between them that nearly melted my Kindle. Four books into this universe and I’m still sucked in and eager to get to the next one which usually I’d be bored of a multi-character series by now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gimme a Eoghan
I'm even more in love with Serena's writing and her men. Eoghan? He's a dream. And Inessa a sweetie. I see myself even more curious about the Five Points world and it's couples. Loved this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice
This is a huge improvement from book one. Inesa was an strong young bratva princess. She held her ground but also stayed in place when she had to. I thought these M C were better build all around. There was a development in who they were as individuals and as a couple. I still felt the author gave too much unnecessary information and I couldn't gasp what this was about. The plot was just them adapting to marriage? Daddy issues here and there , but nothing else happening till the end, I felt like something was missing. But a path in the right direction, will gladly read the 3rd.

4.0 out of 5 stars Liked it.
Warning: SPOILERS. I liked the book. Not loved, but liked it. The different POV’s about people who are mentioned once in the book are a bit weird in my opinion, it makes me not want to read Declan or Finn’s book. Only Aidan jr. The end is very rushed. Wished there was more of the story after Declan was shot but suddenly a time gap for the last chapter was it..
