When Tara’s ex-husband Jonathan passes away she along with his other ex-wife and current wife inherit the majority of the company. Rather than just accepting the shares Tara believes this is a second chance to help the company she helped build prosper even if it means working with her ex’s best friend and business partner Grant.

Not only does Grant now finds himself in the uncomfortable position of being a minority partner if the other three women join forces but he will now have to face the attraction he has always had for Tara head on. Both he and Tara are about to realize that if they are going to have a future together the must work together rather than against each other.

Both Grant and Tara deserved to have better than Jonathan in their lives and now they will finally have the chance to live the life they were destined to have.

The first book in The Sterling Wives series starts with Jonathon Sterling dying in a car accident and leaving his share of the company to his wife and two ex-wives. He also leaves Grant needing to work for the CEO position. It's an intriguing story with tons of emotions and had me hooked from start to finish. I enjoyed reading and am looking forward to the next book.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

I’m a huge Karen Booth fan. Her Harlequin Desire books are auto-buy/auto-read books for me. I may or may not read the blurbs. When I heard the title for her upcoming series was called The Sterling Wives, I was curious. I didn’t know what it truly meant. Well, hang onto your seats because Karen has written Once Forbidden, Twice Tempted and I am assuming the rest of the series as a mini soap opera.

Once Forbidden, Twice Tempted starts out with the freak accidental death of 41-year-old Johnathon Sterling. At the reading of his will, it is learned that he leaves his 51% ownership of Sterling Enterprises to his ex-wives (Tara and Astrid) and current wife (Miranda) equally. The succession plan for the company is that his best friend and business partner Grant Singleton gets named CEO. As you will find, even in death, Johnathon still finds a way to make Grant deal with and fix his mistakes and transgressions.

While reading the book, I had a hard time rooting for Tara and Grant. I viewed Tara as playing Astrid, Miranda, and Grant to get the CEO position at Sterling. I viewed Grant as a little puppy always trying to please. It turns out things are a lot more complicated than that. Tara and Grant have a history together. They both have life experiences including dealing with Johnathon that has shaped them into the people they are today. It’s quite interesting but is something that one must read to discover. As characters, I found them to be okay. I didn’t love them but they were likable once I got to understand them. The chemistry between them is hard to contain. It’s definitely combustible and anyone who sees them can see it.

For me, the most intriguing part of the book is that Tara is spearheading the drive to bid on a city development called Seaport Promenade. This was something Johnathon was interested in doing, but Gant was opposed to getting involved in it. I can say some interesting things are happening.

So far, The Sterling Wives series is reminding me a lot of Karen’s Eden Empire series. The Sterling Wives seem to be women who have been overlooked in some form or fashion. They are intelligent, driven, and in control of their own future. I’m looking forward to reading the next two books. The main characters have already been introduced and I’m excited to read their stories and learn more about them.

Once Forbidden, Twice Tempted is the first book in the new Sterling Wives. The author was new to me and I’m glad I was given the chance to read it. The book was well written and easy to read. The series is based upon three women who had been married to Johnathon Sterling. He is killed in a car accident and leaves his shares to Sterling Enterprises to his wife and two ex-wives. The three wives own the majority of the shares in the company and decide to keep their shares and work for the company for a trial period.
Tara Sterling was Johnathon’s first wife and was there in the beginning when Sterling Enterprises had first opened. She never could understand why Johnathon thought she couldn’t work beside him in the company. He had pushed her into a career of real estate. She longs to have a chance to prove he was wrong about her working at Sterling. She convinces the wives to keep their shares and have a trial period working at Sterling.
Grant Singleton was Johnathon’s best friend and when Johnathon died, he finally got his dream of becoming the CEO of Sterling Enterprises. He had always been the person in the background doing the work, while Johnathon had been the spokesperson for the company. Finding out Johnathon had left his shares to his wife and two ex-wives might interfere with his professional dreams. His dream of having Tara in his life might finally come true also. He had met Tara first and has always felt a connection to her, but he never got to act on his feelings while Johnathon was alive. Maybe he can finally have her in his life if the business stops getting in the way.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It had a great storyline and was interesting. Grant’s character was so loveable. I could feel his disappointment in losing Tara to his best friend, but his loyalty to their friendship was too strong for him to get involved with Tara while Johnathon was alive. His dreams might finally come true if Tara will only realize they make a wonderful team and can work together without all the power struggles. Tara’s character was strong and self-assured. At first, I didn’t care for her because she seemed to muscle her way into the company and was set on “winning” power in the company. She was so driven she couldn’t see that her and Grant working together as a team was better for the company. I can’t wait to read the next book because it sounds just as interesting as this one.

Thanks to the author for a copy of the book via BookSprout in exchange for an honest review.

The idea behind The Sterling Wives series is one I haven’t come across before—and one that has a lot of promise! Three women, two former and one current wife, inherit equal portions of Johnathon Sterling’s majority share in his company, Sterling Enterprises, when Johnathon dies suddenly. Of course there’s a lot of conflict implicit in three wives of one man having to work together, which is very promising, but as the books are romance novels the reader also has a new relationship to look forward to for each wife. How intriguing!

One Forbidden, Twice Tempted is first wife Tara’s story. She helped Johnathon build Sterling Enterprises before being summarily kicked out when they divorced, and she’s spent the years since their relationship ended working hard and proving she never needed him to be successful. But when Tara decides moving on to Sterling Enterprises might be her best chance at happiness, Sterling CEO Grant finds himself at sixes and sevens. Johnathon’s death is his opportunity to move out from under the other man’s shadow, but Tara coming back into his life reignites the desire that he’s felt for her for years. But the success of Sterling hangs in the balance, and any developing relationship between them could spell the end of the company.

I really liked that the hero and heroine weren’t terribly young in this book, and that the book is so incredibly human at the core. Relationships are complicated, and in some ways the book has a soap opera-ish dramatic feel. The characters are all coming to terms with Johnathon’s death as the story progresses – a man we see only through their eyes. Tara and Grant have an intense history, and Booth’s portrayal of them as layered, conflicted people is fantastic. I loved that Grant had been carrying a torch for Tara for years, and the insight into how he felt seeing her and being around her again, and how that impacted the business he worked so hard at. Tara was a wonderful character as well, and their romance seems as inevitable as the proverbial tide, though both work to avoid it. The book did end a bit more abruptly than I expected, but the story was a good read and I loved the whole family of characters that Booth peopled the world with. I’m definitely going to be on the lookout for more of her work!

I found this romance both intriguing and annoying so I give it three stars right in the middle.

When Johnathon Tara’s ex husband suddenly dies, Tara, Astrid (His second ex wife) and his current wife Miranda inherits all of his 51 shares of the company he build up from scratch with his best friend Grant and with some help from Tara herself when they were married.
Now Tara is determined to learn about the business from Grant so they can run the company together with the other wives.
Grant has had feelings for Tara ever since they met but has never had a chance to do anything about it because of Johnathon. He is still trying to hide his feeling from her but when she makes a mistake that can cost the company a big project and a lot of money and they have to spend a weekend in close proximity working to save the project something happens to change their whole relationship. Is it possible to find their HEA together when Johnathon still lurks in the background of their minds, when there are two other wives to consider and will all the gossip both in the papers and in the company influence their decision?

The thing that really annoyed me was Johnathon and their adoration of him. He manipulated all of them. He moved them around as little chess pieces in his game and when he couldn’t find room for them in the game anymore he through them away and chose a new piece to play with. Grant was just his boxing bag and did everything Johnathon asked of him. And still he screws them all over in the end.
I really didn’t understand how they couldn’t see it and why Tara and Grant didn’t act on their attraction long before they do. They respected him to much even in death.

But Tara and Grant are really great together and their fight for the company and against their feelings for each other are very intriguing and kept my interest throughout the book.

I can recommend this book.

This is the first book in the Sterling Wives series. I have to say this was an interesting read. It’s well written and had an enjoyable storyline. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Johnathon Sterling dies suddenly and what he leaves behind is a mess. Everyone thought that his current wife would get everything but good ole Johnathon decided to give his current wife and his two ex-wives his 51% shares in the company split equally. His business partner and best friend Grant wants to buy out the wives and get the controlling percentage of shares in the company. He’s ready to step up and run the company. Only the problem is the wives don’t want to sell. Astrid, ex wife number two, wants to work in the company but does want to run things. Miranda, the current wife, just wants to have a say in voting matters for the company. Tara, ex wife number one, wants to work with Grant and be co CEO with him. She’s was never happy that her ex pushed her out of the company. All Grant wants is to run the company they way he sees fit and Johnathon manages to mess that up for him even from the grave. Grant has had feelings for Tara for years and knows working closely with her is going to be difficult. Can they successfully run the company together? Will Grant tell Tara how he feels?

Four and a half stars

Once Forbidden, Twice Tempted is the first in Karen Booth's Sterling Wives trilogy, each about one of the women who were married at some point to businessman Johnathon Sterling. When he unexpectedly dies, the three women jointly become majority shareholders in his company, and rather than simply sell their stake, the three determine to use the opportunity to make life changes and seize the day, so to speak.

Once Forbidden, Twice Tempted is about Tara Sterling, who was married, then divorced from Johnathon years ago. While she's now in real estate, the inheritance gives her the opportunity to step back into Sterling Enterprises, where she'd always longed to have more of a role. Current CEO and long-time friend Grant Singleton is reluctant not because he doesn't believe Tara capable, but because he's long carried a torch for Tara, but has never acted on it, respecting his friend Johnathon's wishes.

Karen Booth's story is a second-chance story not only for Grant and Tara, but one of sorts for the Sterling wives. Ms Booth lets us be party to their growing friendship, as unusual as their connection may be. And Grant and Tara's simmering attraction is all too delicious as well, once they allow it out in the open.

Ms Booth's story is emotional and passionate, and leaves me eager for the rest of the series.

This is book 1 of the Sterling wives and the story of first wive Tara, who help Johnathon build the company and he leaves each of his 3 wives 17% of the company and the remainder of his estate to present wife Miranda. Johnathon Sterling was a player and he loved playing with people's lives, he swooped in and stole Tara when Grant was away on business, just because he was competitive with Grant, when he got bored he got rid of Tara and replaced her with Astrid, after kicking her out of the company she help build and after 3 years of marriage. He clearly only cared about himself.

I was excited to read that Grant and Tara started finding their way past the friendship only relationship they had, again due to lies Johnathon told to them, seems like he wanted to prevent them to find happiness together. The author did an amazing job highlighting and describing the emotions, interactions and feelings between Grant and Tara and their growing attraction to each other. The supporting characters and relationships between them were realistic and well done. I enjoyed this book can't wait to read more by this author.

The Sterling Wives series starts off with sizzle and temptation!
You are quickly pulled in to the story, and won’t want to stop reading to see what little intrigue can happen next. Tara receives a call from her ex-husband’s business partner, Grant that her ex was in a serious accident; that sets the stage for the series. The three wives receive equal shares in the company that was unbeknownst to each of them and Grant who is now acting CEO. Grant offers a solution to the wives, but Tara leads the wives with an alternate solution. Grant is aggravated to no ends, because Tara has been the one since before she married her ex. What can go wrong with a simple outing to party, Tara pitching the city project that Grant refused to work on and ends with a sizzling night? Come morning, comes reality and theirs crashes into them ten fold, so they bury their feelings and get back to work. When Tara has a crisis on her city project, Grant comes to the rescue in more ways then one. Will Grant truly support Tara’s project? Will Tara finally let happiness in? You have to read to find out and will love the ending!

4 1/2 STARS!

Such a fresh concept! With the first book in her brand new Sterling Wives series Karen Booth takes her reader on a roller coaster ride of emotion as an unusual set-up comes into play that is oh so juicy. In ONCE FORBIDDEN, TWICE TEMPTED we meet Tara Sterling who steps in to help run Sterling Enterprises with her ex-husband's best friend. The ending was abrupt, but overall I loved the concept, the characters and the happily ever after! Looking forward to the next in the series.

Tara is the epitome of class. She's self-assured and successful and has a heart of gold. Watching her come into her own and shine is very rewarding.

Grant is such a nice guy. He has wanted Tara for years, but always respected his best friend and stayed away. Circumstances now have them working side by side and the temptation is overpowering.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a fast paced romance with a mental connection in addition to the passionate draw of the couple with lots of drama in the background to set the stage.

Johnathan had 3 marriages with his last only lasting not quiet a year when he passes away due to a freak accident leaving one current wife Miranda and to ex wives Tara and Astrid. For reasons unknown to anyone but Johnathan leaves each of the ladies 17% of his business now they must work out if they want to keep their shares or sell them and Tara sees this as her chance to finally show what she can do. Tara and Grants relationships is a bit of a complex one with plenty of history, a bit of conflict as well as an insane attraction that hasn't really ever been acted on before so between that, they tentative truce between wives and Tara's need to show everyone she is an asset to Johnathan and Grants business has you turning the page needing to know how it is all going to work out and leaves you needing to read the next book as soon as you finish!!

Once Forbidden, Twice Tempted is the first book in a Harlequin Desire trilogy by Karen Booth. These books tell the stories of the wife and two ex-wives of Johnathon Sterling. When he died from a freak accident on a golf course, he leaves the controlling interest in Sterling Enterprises to them. First wife, Tara Sterling's story is told in the first book. Johnathon's best friend, Grant Singleton, owns twenty percent of the company and the women now own about seventeen percent each. Grant wants to buy their shares right away, but Tara convinces the other women to run the company together for at least three months. Then they can decide to sell to Grant if they want. But working with Grant isn't going to be smooth sailing for Tara due to their flirty past. This is a fun romance, with an interesting dynamic, and many challenges ahead. I am already looking forward to reading the second book, High Society Secrets which tells Astrid's story!

This is the first book in The Sterling Wives Series. When Johnathon Sterling is killed in a car accident he leaves his share of the company to his wife and two ex wives and they decide to see if they could work together at sterling. Grant was Johnathon's best friend and he thought that he would become the new CEO of the company but he had a shock when he was told that Johnathon had left his shares to. Grant had always had a connection and feelings towards Tara but didn't act on it out of loyalty but maybe now he will get a chance or will he be disappointed yet again. Wow I loved this book so much and it is a great start to a new series and I am looking forward to reading the next book as it was so well written and had brilliant characters. I recommend you read this book as it is well worth it.

This book has left me feeling a little conflicted. I love the author’s work and her writing style. Grant and Tara are fantastic characters with lots of conflict and angst. I’m reserving judgement on Astrid and Miranda until I get into their own books, because here the just felt a bit whiny and overly dramatic. What bugged the living daylights out of me was the ‘dearly departed’ and the games he played with these peoples’ lives. I was baffled by how they could continue to respect the wishes of the petty despot and continued to shine up his tarnished reputation. I’d like to think that there’s a lot more going on and in future books in this series we’ll better understand why he pulled the strings he did.

Johnathon had a string of wives - Tara the focussed agent, Astrid the model & finally Miranda. Grant was his business partner & had a thing for Tara, so when he passes Johnathons Will opens a can of worms. Unfortunately Grant doesn't get his CEO position & has to work for it.

These 4 have to navigate the business & work something out together. There's also the attraction between Tara & Grant.

An interesting read making you wonder if Johnathon had an idea how his wishes in relation to his business would turn out.

In this story Tara is the first of many wives of the dearly departed Jonathan. He leaves all of his ex-wives and his current wife an interest in the company and the current wife gets the rest of his estate. But in this case it is his business partner Grant, who had originally been interested in Tara who gets to try again to build something with her that goes beyond business. They are a good fit for the business, will they also realize that they are a good fit for each other? Strong start to this series that is a series of tales of three wives.

This book is the beginning of a new series which focuses on three ex-wives who inherit Sterling Enterprises when Jonathan Sterling suddenly dies and leaves each of them one-third of his company. Tara was Jonathan Sterling's first wife and this book is her story. Grant Singleton, the CEO of Sterling Enterprises, had once been attracted to Tara but Jonathan claimed her when he was out of town on business. Now he has his chance to win her. This book has interesting characters and relationship dynamics. It is well written and highly enjoyable.

This is the story of Tara and Grant. She has just inherited a third of her late ex-husbands company. It also means she has to work with his other two wives and his best friend and CEO Grant. Tara and Grant have history as she helped Johnathan build the company and the three worked side by side. He’s had feelings for her for a long time but kept them buried. Will they surface now that they’re working close together again? I enjoyed this wonderful romance. I’m looking forward to the stories on the other wives. I enjoyed this Friends to Lovers romance that is set in real estate/ development business landscape. With twist of past ex-wives of Grant's best friend who passes away and leaves his part of the company to his wife and ex-wives. It was such a fun story line to see what happens and if Tara and Grant get that HEA. It had business parts, set up for the next story, fun times, quick read, steam, and that HEA.

Overall, 3.5 stars and 3 steam

Accidentally found this book and very happy that I did. Loved the premise and can't wait to get the second book.
Even though I love reading spoilery reviews, I don't like to write them. So, all I want to say about this first book and the story will have to wait until the third and last book of the series is released.
Will say, I liked all of the characters that we were introduced to. Actually verdict is still out on Andrew, we'll see what he stirs up and how he acts and is he justified. I'll leave it at that.
Great start to the series.

Well this was fun 🙂. This is a a story with a lot of beautiful moving pieces and it was worth the wait. Tara and Grant have history and was a joy to see them tip toe through it.

There’s enough angst and intrigue to keep you on the edge of your chair 🪑 till the very end 🙂. The storyline was set up so the subsequent books were set up nicel, again, moving parts 👏🏾👏🏾😊.

This was worth all my time and I think you will enjoy as well.

I enjoyed the premise of this and the three ex-wives. It was different and added so much fun to the story. Tara and Grant have an undeniable attraction and I loved getting to see them navigate their new relationship. The characters are complex and I enjoyed getting to know them, even if they frustrated me at times. Great story! Can't wait to read the other stories coming in this series.
