Someone Exactly Like Me: A Slow Burn, Forced Proximity, Strangers to Friends to Lovers Romance (Wounded Hearts Series Book 1) (Wounded Hearts Romance) Kindle Edition
Fall into bed with the too-hot-for-his-own-good Italian celebrity whoβs just skyrocketed to fame and be another notch in his belt? No thanks.
Accept his proposed business deal that will have us spending a lot of time together β much of it under the same roof - in order to further our careers? Definitely a possibility.
What we have is a business arrangement. Nothing more.
Itβs a fact I have to keep reminding myself of every time Niccolo Mancini pins me with his eyes or my heart pounds in my ears when weβre close.
He has a rule: Donβt kiss women on the lips.
I have a rule too: Donβt get involved with celebritiesβ¦even if Iβve fantasized about Nicco for months after watching his latest movie.
As the terms of our deal play out, my humdrum life is flipped upside downβ¦and weβre both dangerously close to breaking our rules.
Did I mention that heβs also a musician? He sings and plays guitarβ¦and wrote a song for me. Yeah, so thereβs that.
Heβs a man whoβs hurting and exposes his wounds and fears to me, drawing me more deeply to him. Just when I let him in, the temporary fairytale implodes, crushing my heart. I runβ¦and wonder if what we had was ever even real.
He got what he wanted from our deal.
I didnβt. My career is crumbling beneath me.
What do I do now?
This is Book 1 in the Wounded Hearts series. While it can be read as a standalone, your experience will be better if you read this book first.
(This book contains steamy scenes, a panic attack, a smoking habit, mentions of body image sensitivity, mention of loss of a child, and some explicit language. Suitable for 18+ only.)

Hi! Iβm Debbie Cromack and I write contemporary novels that are romantic, sexy, and emotional with a lot of heart and worth-the-wait steam. Iβve been called the Master of Slow Burn, a title I happily accept.
I write realistic, flawed characters youβd want to get to know in real life. My heroes are virile and also broken. They have huge hearts, respect their women, and have a hidden romantic side. These men don't just fall in love, they fall and never look back. My heroines are often awkward, feisty, and embody everything the hero never knew he needed.
After spending 25+ years in corporate America, being the CEO of an event decorating company, and then an online business coach, I tried my hand at writing romance novels, publishing my debut novel at the age of 50, and have been writing ever since.
I live in an old farmhouse where I care for a dwarf bunny named Nutmeg, two Nigerian dwarf goats named Patches and Tiny, and lots of chickens. I like my book boyfriends how I like my cocoa: hot and yummy! With my knack for decorating, I tend to go all-out for each holiday. And Iβm a total sucker for the Hallmark Channelβ¦especially at Christmas.

Someone Exactly Like Me is the first book in the Wounded Hearts series be Debbie Cromack. This is my first book by Ms. Cromack, and as I am always on the look out for new authors to add to my TBR list I happily snapped up a copy to explore.
What I found was a sweet, enjoyable, slow-burn, contemporary romance with a bit of a friends-to-lover element, some angst, push-pull, heartache, chemistry, and drama. I connected with the characters right from the get-go, which made it so easy to invest in them and their whole story.
I am happy that I stumbled on this book, and author- and I will certainly be keeping a look-out for more of her work in the future.
Bring on Book #2β¦
Happy Reading!
Thank you, Debbie Cromack!
- Reviewed in Australia on 25 July 2021Nicco and Destiny were another super cute couple from Debbie Cromack.
Debbie's books always have a very personal touch thrown in them, and this comes through so clearly in her writing. Destiny is an author who is struggling to find her muse and she finds it in Nicco.
There are themes of addiction in this book and the dependence on cigarettes is based on the characters history and troubles in life. There are very real situations dealt with in this book and I think they were handled very well.
This book was cute, funny, a little cliche and predictable at times but overall a fun read. I enjoyed the taste of the Italian culture, a little Roman Holiday thrown in.
- Reviewed in Australia on 3 July 2022This is Niccolo and Destinyβs story. It was a heartfelt read full of self-discovery, romance and a bit of steam. All the characters are well developed and the storyline has a great pace. This is the first book in the series but there is no cliffhanger. I will definitely be checking out more from this author.
- Reviewed in Australia on 12 May 2023I liked this story - and the writing was engaging - it was just a little too Hallmark/ cookie-cutter form me. I mean there was action, and Nicco and Destiny have great chemistry, but their relationship arc was just a tad too shallow to capture my heart and have me binge read (which is what a 4-star review does).
I also do love slow-burn romances - just wanted a teensy little more burn.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in Australia on 10 July 2022Expertly written friends to lovers slow burn. Destiny and Nico were well written, believable, likeable main characters who had me rooting for them. Overall a easy read with everything you want in this trope- humour, steam, tension and romance. My first book from this author and I cant wait to read more.
- Reviewed in Australia on 5 June 2022Verified PurchaseWell, this was a wonderful romantic read with a fabulous heroine and a hot as anything Italian sex god.
My favourite tropes are forced proximity and a slow burn and this story met all my needs in a romance.
Steamy, sexy, and wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Italian movie star falls for the everyday girl
Verified PurchaseI recently read Someone to Watch Over Me and had to go back and read Book 1 in the Wounded Heart series to see how this all started. Niccolo definitely falls first in this slow burn romance. The book takes place partly around the Los Angeles area and then off to Italy which is a sweet treat. Good book to read at the beach!

5.0 out of 5 stars Slow Burn Amazingness!!!
Verified PurchaseSomeone Exactly Like Me is a slow burn celebrity meeting that is filled with chemistry, passion and a beautiful story about finding your person in the last person you would ever think possible.
Destiny and Nicco have a very unexpected meet cute. Their attraction is immediate but Destiny knows Nicco, an up & coming actor/musician, is a player. Sheβs just had her heart broken and doesnβt need it to happen again. However, a friendship forms and they start to mean so much to each other. Will they cross that line or is neither willing to open their heart or minds to more?
This is VERY slow burn. You really get to see them move from strangers to friends to best friends and beyond. They get to know each other in every wayβ¦they share their history, fears, dreams and hopes. You see them falling in love and itβs amazing to watch it all unfold. But their path isnβt without bumps including the same things they shareβ¦.pasts come back, fears start to show and at points both believe any type of future is just a dream. This story is very romantic because of the slow burn and it had me swooning the entire time.
Iβm thoroughly enjoying The Hollywood/Celebrity romances from this author (if you havenβt read Zane then go grab it now)β¦..and I canβt wait to read more from her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Summer Read π
Verified PurchaseSomeone Exactly Like Me is a standalone slow burn, friends to lovers romance perfect for a summer read!
If you're after a sweet and swoony read, this is the one for you! After a meeting filled with attraction and chemistry, Nicco and Destiny strike a mutually beneficial deal. As they get to know each other and their connection deepens we learn more about what makes each of them who they are. Their dreams, their pasts and their insecurities.
The scenes where these two people are hanging out and getting to know each other feels so authentic; We get to truely watch them fall in love, before they even know that is what is happening. There are funny moments, heartbreaking moments, swoony moments and steamy moments that ultimately lead to us falling in love with these characters too.
But we all know the path to true love never runs smooth, and their story is no different. Nicco and Destiny lead different lives which in itself creates a barrier between them, among other obstacles.
The secondary characters add another layer to their relationship, I especially loved Candi's relationship with Destiny, and I'm looking forward to potentially seeing more of her in future.
This is Debbie's second novel, and just like Untouchable Zane, Someone Exactly Like Me is an easy read. Well paced, Romantic and while at times painful, the overall feeling is a light read, exploring dreams locations and the perfect friends to lovers summer read π
I was so lucky to read a beta copy of this story and I'm so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work closely with Debbie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intense!
Verified PurchaseI gave it 4 stars instead of five for a few reasons. One, I couldnβt quite follow the timeline at certain points. Two, is it realistic to have a man thatβs been drinking quite a bit drive the ladies home from the club? Three, I felt that the author really put way too many details in the beginning of the book and almost no details in the final pages. Four, then we shift to an epilogue that leaves many of us wondering what weβre the details of their travel together, when/how did he propose, how long before she got pregnant, how do they know itβs a boy, what will they do once the baby comes, did he kick the nicotine habit for good, etc. etc. The author was too detailed in the front of the book and completely blowing off details at the end.
Having said all the negative, I still want to read the rest of the series. This book is compelling and emotional and will feed your soul with the stirring love story of a regular woman βDestinyβ romance author (who just happens to have well connected parents) and a man βNiccoβ that is a movie star, songwriter, musician, and singer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Story!
Verified PurchaseSomeone Exactly Like Me is a slow burning, friends to lovers, feel good, romance story. I liked the pace, getting to really know the characters daily life, the sexual tension, and it's an all around feel good read. The characters couldn't be more opposite of one another, however that's why I think they were so perfect together. This is my first time reading this author, and I can say she has herself a new reader. I like the way she pens her story that you become immersed into the characters world.
