The Rules of Dating My One-Night Stand Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 3,578 ratings

From New York Times bestselling authors Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland comes a new standalone romance.
Rule number one for having a one-night stand:
Don’t fall for the girl.
After a lengthy dating slump, I finally met someone who sparked my interest.
Well, first the sparks flew when we argued. Later in the evening those sparks ignited into something more.
I was drawn to Devyn, in a way I hadn’t felt in a really long time.
Needless to say, I was disappointed when she abruptly left after our amazing night together.
I couldn’t stop thinking about her. But she hadn’t even given me her number.
In a city with eight-million people, I figured I’d never see Devyn again.
So imagine my surprise when I knocked on the door of an apartment in the building I lived in, and none other than my one-night stand stood on the other side.
If I thought Devyn didn’t want anything to do with me before, that was nothing compared to how she felt after finding out I was the landlord and she was about to be evicted…
And that was just the first surprise that would rock my world when it came to the mystery woman in apartment 410.

The Rules of Dating my One Night Stand

Intriguing from the first word! I felt instantly invested with these characters, when it usually rakes me a bit to warm to each character. There was just something about Owen and Devyn that grabbed my attention. Owen was an enigma that begged to be solved. Devyn was a riddle of contradictions and endearing denial. They embarked on a merry dance of attraction and abstinence. There were many moments of laughter. Many more moments of frustration, and more care and feelings than a story has any business having. Devyn’s family provided endless drama and their shenanigans were a little naughty, but a lot entertaining.

This story will take a reader on a wonderful and mysterious ride. But not in the normal sense of mystery. Little moments all combining to make one hell of a drama, and witnessing it unfold is unforgettable. Each character endearing and their love journey was up and down and every thrilling emotion in between.

This collaboration was again unputdownable. The mind was blown. The authors hearts and souls were poured into this story and I will always be forever thankful for authors with talent of this calibre. They fill my bookshelves with momentous characters and the promise of finding your soul mate. They prove that fairytales do come true and HEA’s are born in the most unique of circumstances. 5 stars.

I loved the way Owen wore his heart in his sleeve. He put his all into winning over Devyn and I was here for all of it!

This is such a great series with such wonderful characters, but I have to admit there is a part of Owen & Devyn’s story that I absolutely hated. That may be too strong of a word to use, but my heart was in my throat for a good majority of the story waiting for the outcome.
I know I am being vague, but this is a huge part of the whole storyline and I don’t want to give it away. I also know the way I reacted to this is very much a “me” problem and nothing to do with the writing and book in general.
Now after saying all that, Owen is hands down my favorite character in this book. I’ll go so far as to say he’s one of the best characters I’ve read this year. It’s probably the whole reason for my overreaction because he is just that special. I didn’t want to read that he was hurting, that he was unsure and uncomfortable. But that does happen, but it totally makes this book all the more incredible when he finally (spoiler alert) gets his HEA.

“Sometimes the best things in life are the ones we don’t see coming.”

And I did not see any of this coming!

Be consumed and fall in love with Devyn & Owen.

And let The Rules of Dating My One-Night Stand blow your mind!

There were also moments when I was sure that my heart would shatter and break…

It’s a one-night stand that is the beginning of something epic…

It’s a one-night stand they both may never be able to forget…

They might not be able to be together, but they definitely can’t forget…

It’s the perfect combination of combustible chemistry and a bunch of circumstances that will literally blow your mind!

the dialogues repeat themselves many times throughout the book and they don’t “live”, there’s no humor. It’s strange that those two very well reknown authors would write something as dull as this book

The dynamic writing duo, Ward and Keeland, are back with the third contemporary romance in The Laws of Opposites Attract stand-alone series, The Rules of Dating My One-Night Stand, and what an epic love story it is.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last two books, but this one is, without a doubt, my favourite! I became so engrossed in Devyn and Owen Dawson’s lives that I had trouble putting the book down. I look for excitement, compelling protagonists in real-life situations and a solid plot entangled with a sprinkling of angst, which the authors delivered hands down.

An unforgettable no-names one-night stand is just that. But Owen cannot get the mysteriously attractive woman who blew his mind out of his head. What Devyn did was totally out of character but a much-needed respite from her already complicated life. Nonetheless, the universe decided to play an unpredictable trick on them. How they would navigate their journey is for you to discover and will undoubtedly keep you wondering if they can overcome all the obstacles–and there are plenty!

Devyn’s generous soul melted my heart. I liked that she’s a doer, not a thinker and wants the best for the folk she deeply cares about, always looking for solutions. Owen is a true keeper, and although he’s always happy to lend Devyn a hand, she’s not used to accepting help from others. Yes, her back story is harsh, but he’ll use all his skills to make her see that she can trust him, that his heart is in the right place.

When Ward and Keeland’s storytelling inflamed my heart and fueled my imagination–when words on a page gave me all the feels, and the good-natured, flirty banter had me grinning from ear to ear, you know this is one very re-readable book. Bravo!

Yet again this phenomenal duet creat a wonderful storyline in this series. We connect with Owen this time, although the previous characters are enriched and developed also. Humour also abounds, and new characters are introduced. Owen meets Devlyn one night and both finish up together. The consequences are life long. Devyln has to look after her two devilish siblings Flick and Flack, but all is revealed as to why they are so mischievous. The story is full of emotions, support and separation issues. Which are sensitively covered, and yet are essential to the storyline. Owen is on yummy caring guy and Devlyn is one close of chick but as the story develops we understand why. There is a superb HEA. Totally unexpected but leaving the reader in a contented glow. The next is Braydon’s character to be developed, although he like Holden, and Colby appear quite a bit in this on going storyline. Billie is as solid as ever and Lala is just that. Herself. Well written, edited and so worth 5 stars.

Owen is like a hot knife going through butter, you just melt. Loved his character, and watching him unwind his personality from what appeared in previous books in this series. I found Devyns character a bit annoying, couldn't get into her at first, but then, she had plenty of hang-ups to contend with. Loved her siblings, could have done with a bit more from them, they made me chuckle. I think Owen will be great with them and guide them into adulthood as they have lacked a male in their lives.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series so far. Look forwards to the next. Perhaps we will find that Owen has a new career at a midwife! ha ha ha..... after all the others are popping out children as fast as anything, so the only bachelor left standing up until the next book will need back up I think.

Love the front cover on this book... Those eyes... oooooooh.
