Park Avenue Player (A Series of Standalone Novels Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 14,243 ratings

From New York Times bestselling authors Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland comes a new standalone novel.

It started out like any normal day.

Then the fender bender happened.

The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth.

Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway—one I was excited about.

Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

Whoops!

Yeah, so I didn’t get the position.

The problem was, I really wanted it. No, I needed it. Anything to get me out of my current career and back into working with kids.

So, even though Hollis LaCroix was as intimidating as he was devastatingly handsome, I went back to see him and begged for a chance.

To my surprise, he gave me a shot taking care of his troubled niece.

At least my attraction to him wouldn’t be able to go anywhere. I wasn’t about to jeopardize my job or the strong bond Hailey and I formed.

But resisting the magnetic pull between us wasn’t that simple. (Then there was our little underwear game—don’t ask.)

We continued to flirt without crossing the line—until it finally happened.

This is the part of the story where we fall in love and live happily ever after, right?

Well, life has a way of throwing some major curveballs.

Ours was one I didn’t see coming.

Ohh man how the title and the content confused me.

I reckon this is my first read of these two lovely authors.

Loved this book. Made me feel all the feels. The wittyness, the playfulness, the love, the heartbreak.
The moment much too soon I understood what the plot twist was and spent the resr of the book with my heart in my toes waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Loved the characters. The way they grew. The interactions.
Loved to see a strong female character that didn't necesarily melt in a puddle of lust or lost all her strenght and spine for a man regardless of how good panty stealing looking he is.

And the cherry on top, who doesn't love a strong fiery tampon wielding aveninging pre-teen princess?

Dismiss the title and jump on the book.

I have always been a fan of Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland, they are amazing writers both in their own books and as a duo. Their writing is faultless, entertaining and completely engrossing, and draws you in from the very first page. Park Avenue Player, gets a big 5 stars from me! Elodie and Hollis have amazing chemistry right from the start, despite their first meeting. Great characters and good storyline, there is even a cameo appearance, overall a very humorous, but emotional read. I thoroughly recommend "Park Avenue Player", I loved it and I think you will to. 💗

What can I say this story was just brilliant, it was very emotional and funny in parts, Hollis and Elodie were great together, I enjoyed seeing their journey and how their lives untangled the other characters were also great. Couldn’t put this down I didn’t want it to end. Can’t wait to read more from these authors.

Good twist, but something was a miss and I don't think I can put my finger on it... Maybe it was how everything went from fun flirty and sexy to morbid dull and deadly serious in what felt like a couple pages. Half way through I really thought this one was gonna be my favourite, I loved the dynamic between Hallis and Elodie, loved how she was the nanny to his niece and it didn't have anything to do with his work or career. But as I read on, I became aware that it just felt weird, the twist was pretty decent and it urged me to continue reading, but as I did I became lost to their romance and no longer felt the same about the two characters. I think Hallis was very selfish, he wasn't there for Elodie at all and only thought about himself through all of it, even when he saw how devastated she was in the hospital. After lying to her and avoiding her, I lost respect for him as a character and respect for their love and relationship unfortunately.

Our exciting hero Hollis and heroine Elodie meet when they have a car accident. Both are acrimonious that the other is responsible for the collision. Then they meet as employer and employee, surprisingly again at a job interview a short time later.

Turns out Hollis is wealthy and owns a Funds business and is looking for a nanny to look after his niece. Elodie is the prospective nanny but when he see her he immediately dismisses her ability to look after his niece because she appears not to be able to parallel park.

By fate, in the foyer of the building, on her way out, she unknowingly meets and befriends the same niece she had hoped to be nanny to. Hollis happens to over hear the discussion they are having and decides to give Elodie a second chance.

This book jointly written by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland is a wonderful read and I recommend you acquire it and find out what happens exactly for yourself.
