Well Played Kindle Edition
It all started with a bet.
When my young son inherited half of his great grandfather’s historic inn, I decided to move us both to the place where I grew up.
Notice I said half of the Inn. The other half now belonged to Levi Miller, the famous quarterback who had other ideas about what we should do with the property.
We won’t mention that I accidentally injured him during our first meeting, causing him to get eight stitches.
You could say we got off on the wrong foot.
We bickered a lot as we both moved into the property while we figured things out.
He wanted to unload the rundown place which, admittedly, needed a lot of work.
I wanted to restore The Palm Inn to its original beauty and re-open it as a bed and breakfast.
We couldn’t agree on anything. So Levi made me a proposal. One he thought I would surely lose. If I could sell out the place by the time he had to leave for training at the end of summer, he would back off and let me run it.
But in the weeks that followed, we got more than we bargained for while we were living under the same roof.
Levi and I got closer, and before I knew it, my nightly fantasies about the brawny Adonis became a reality. Not to mention, he was so great with my son.
We were in over our heads in more ways than one.
Because not only was he the last man on Earth I should be falling for because of our deal, but Levi was also my ex’s older brother.
And now the inn was the least of my problems.

- Reviewed in Australia on 24 October 2021Verified PurchaseHow do you describe the overpowering impact one story has on you.? I am still trying to work that out. My very soul, the most inner part of me was left scorched and blown away by every little aspect of Well Played. It was like this beautiful and touching story played out in real time. So lifelike. I am constantly blown away by the ability and undeniable talent of excellent authors. Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are double impact players. Their aim is to shock, amaze, impress and be unforgettable. Their characters will mesmirise you. They will woo you. They will astound you. They will OWN YOU. Nothing compares. Each author has that special spark. Each are unique. You can determine the signature of each author and the stamp they leave on your mind and heart will never diminish. Their style and dramatic flair are immeasurable and like nothing else out there. These characters never leave your mind. These types of stories are multiple times reads. And every time is like the first time. Its like winning the literary lottery. But in this, everyone is a winner. Well Palyed is so aptly named. The authors could not have done any better. It was warts and all perfect. The laughter. The tears. The jubilation. The frustration. Ladies and Gents, you get it all right here. And I am telling you, it's bliss. Take pain relief. Take tissues. Take hold . You wont be the same again.
Mind. Blown. 5 stars.

What unfolds is sweet and romantic but both unexpectedly catch feelings and then have to face his family. Thread through with moments are laughter, it was enjoyable and an easy read.

- Reviewed in Australia on 16 November 2021Verified PurchaseBefore I leave my thoughts on this book, I just want to put it out there that I love both these authors work, especially when they collaborate with each other, but unfortunately, this book didn’t hit the mark for me.
The storyline started off well with a great and hilarious opening scene. I thought the chemistry between the MC’s was hot and I loved how their relationship developed and changed over the course time. Unfortunately, I thought the writing was a bit below par for these two authors and the storyline became pretty predictable towards the 3/4 mark when her ex fiancé came on the scene… Yeah, no… this one did not work it’s magic on me this time.
But remember, we are all different in our likes and dislikes, so I recommend you read it and decide for yourself, and leave a review, the authors will appreciate it!
- Reviewed in Australia on 26 January 2022Verified PurchaseSmall spoiler ahead….
Well Played was a great read. It couldn’t read it fast enough as I was dying to know what happened and how everything ended up.
The story was well written. I like how Levi and Presley gave into their desires, but also held back as they didn’t want to hurt others around them (Mainly Alex) as it gave the story more depth.
Can’t wait to read the next book Ward and Keeland produce.
- Reviewed in Australia on 19 January 2022Verified PurchaseI thoroughly enjoyed this book.
It did have elements I wasn’t expecting (and don’t normally seek out in a book), but the story was so well-written I had no problem continuing through the unexpected elements.
- Reviewed in Australia on 7 January 2022Verified PurchaseThis was a great story that I could not put down!
Presley, a single mom and Levi, the star quarterback have awesome chemistry in this sports/ renovation romance set in the south! I recommend this book- you will not be disappointed!
- Reviewed in Australia on 1 January 2022Verified PurchaseFirst book read of 2022 and as usual the dream team did not disappoint. The longing, the passion, the funny moments led to a fantastic read. Levi and Alex were cute together too. I did feel it was a tad bit long for the storyline but it kept me reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the Romance, but Not the Angst
Verified PurchaseI truly loved the romance between Levi and Presley, but I felt like there was just a touch too much angst. I felt it could have been resolved quicker if the characters had cooperated. I still loved the book!!!
Presley kind of inherited half of an inn from her ex's father, her son Alex actually inherited it. So she moves to South Carolina from New York to give her son a better life. It also gets her away from her cheating, dead beat ex, Tanner.
The other half of the inn was inherited by Levi, Tanner's older brother and a professional football player. He's not happy to see Presley because his brother lied to his family about why they broke up. But once he realizes what an a-hole his brother is, he starts to get along with Presley and they get to know each other.
They are both extremely attracted to each other but don't want to cross the line since Tanner is Alex's father and Levi's brother.
I loved watching them fall in love with each other, regardless of the elephant in the room. Personally I didn't see anything wrong with them being together since Tanner threw Presley and Alex away to gamble and cheat his life away! I'm sorry but I hated Tanner!!! He was such an a-hole!!! After everything he put Presley and Alex through, he thinks he can just show up and claim he's changed and they'll take him back! And, my biggest complaint about him, he refuses to listen to Presley when she says she never wants a relationship with him again!!!!! He completely disregarded her feelings and went behind her back to try to weasel his way back into her life! I didn't like their mother, Shelby! She said she wasn't taking sides between her boys, but she completely did!!! She kept trying to push Tanner and Presley back together regardless of what Presley told her she wanted!!! They're the reason the angst went on longer then it should have, them interfering!!!!
Loved Alex and how much he just wanted his family to be happy, especially his mother. And Presley was such a great mom! I really did love this story because of Levi and Presley, they were truly meant to be together!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brotherly love and fatal attractions
Verified PurchaseThis dynamic authors always write a totally absorbing stiory. This stand alone is about two brothers , Levi and Tanner. The later being the father of Alex and the ex of Presley. The former being a part owner in a run down B+B inherited from his grandfather. Alex the child being the other partner when he comes of age. Alex is Tanner’s son. Levi wants to sell and run. Presley Alex’s mother wants to restore the place to it’s former glory for her son! She and Tanner have run their course of a relationship, as Tanner is very much and absentee father both physically and financially. The B+B is across country, and a new start ensues in more ways than one. Presley and Levi gradually fall for each other and the arguments turn to passion. Unfortunately Tanner returns, and the story unfolds. It is easy to read, full of emotion and passion. Descriptive and tender. A truly absorbing story with a HEA.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!!!!!
Verified PurchaseAnother amazing read!
I love how they build family drama without sugarcoating the situations. Everything was against their relationship, falling in love with her ex brother in law, having to expose what really happened with her ex and fighting to keep the In, was written with perfection.
Presley was struggling to make ends meet and trying to provide for her son the best way she could, but always doing it with a smile on her face, having half of the B&B she made a deal with Levi with the hope he wouldn’t sell the place.
Being neglected by his brother and having to raise Alex almost by herself, Presley presents herself as one of the most strong females characters I’ve ever seen. The book is funny, emotional and with the right amount of angst.
I love every part of it.
Her friendship with Harper was one of the most funny parts of the book and her scenes with Levi was hot.
I love everything! Another favorite of mine this year!

4.0 out of 5 stars The other brother
Verified PurchasePresley was back in town to help her son with his inheritance -a rundown inn- and she just so happens to run into it's co owner... Her ex's older brother.
He's here out of financial obligations and a need to see his nephew... Not his brothers baby mama.
But these two spark with a competitive steak until an old women's bet.... Then all bets are off.
Unfortunately dating your brothers ex is always complicated.
I absolutely enjoyed reading the transition from strangers only tied together by a building and a little boy.... Through to seeing two new families develop. Chemistry, heart to heart, and laughter all blended in.
