I listened to the audiobook and devoured it in less than a day! This story was beautiful! Funny, heartbreaking, and captivating. I loved Griffins love!!!!! The oh Luca song available when I completed the book was Amazing!!!! It made me feel even more from this book!
Loved the voice actors chosen. The fact that Griffin was even voiced in a british accent was perfect and really made me feel like I was living it. The story itself was perfect, the only thing I would change would be in the narration itself is that when reading in either characters perspective that when they are having a conversation that it was split between the 2 voice actors,rather than for example a Luca perspective reading griffin in a girls voice.

Overall I just love this story!!!! Not often I read (or listen) to a story that just captivates me from the first chapter!

If you want a story that is beautifully written that will draw you into the feelings of truely loving and understanding someone. This is it!!!!!!!

This is one of those books that will stay with you long after you’ve closed your kindle. From page 1 I was hooked and I couldn’t put it down until it was finished which was about midnight on a Sunday night. It’s a very different love story which was refreshing for a change. It’s funny, sweet and sad. Luca and Griffen meet as pen pals at age 7 when encouraged to write by a school pen pal program. Luca is from the US and she chooses Griffen from the UK simply because she liked his name. They continue to write until they’re both 17 then suddenly the letters stop when Luca stops writing. Eight years later at age 25 Griffen sends Luca a letter telling her she sucks and how angry he is at her for not returning his letters the last eight years. Luca looks back over her letters and finds the last letter he sent unopened so after she reads it she writes back. I love how the story is told through letters past and present and duel point of view. This is a very emotional read as one of the pen pals struggles with extreme anxiety and their bravery to beat this is an emotional journey but the journey is well worth it in the end. Please read this, you won’t be disappointed.

I liked the premise of the book, childhood pen pals to lovers. Loved the letters between them when they reconnected as adults. Then the writing became a little flat and corny for me, and I had to roll my eyes a few times at some of the dialogue between the MCs. Loved Doc’s character and his infatuation with birds, and I loved his road trip with Luca. I’d take a road trip with him any day. The story pick up in the last couple of chapters and I loved the ending, especially the symbolism with the Cardinal bird.

I really liked this book, loved the start of it but I do wish we got to see more of the letters and the build up of their friendship and relationship, it felt really fast paced but other then that I loved it! I listened to the last 40 pages while cooking dinner and it made me fall in love with the book even more just hearing griffin’s accent haha

I chose this 5 star rating because this book is deep. Its not your usual story. Theres depth and complexity not only to the story but to the characters as well. Having said that, I found the hero to be a bit idealic but oddly relatable. The book also deals with mental illness which I thought was refreshing. At the end of the book I needed to exhale and literally debrief myself. What a saga. Loved it. The characters were frank with their emotions, there wasn't any of the game playing, just straight forward adult communication. Do yourself a favour and read.
