The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview.

Before I left, I asked to see Merrick. I needed to know why I was even in consideration after our disastrous start.

Turned out, Merrick only wanted to hire me because I was the least competent candidate. It seemed his board was making him fill the position, against his wishes.

I didn’t really want to work in a place where my boss expected me to fail. But I figured maybe I’d enjoy proving him wrong. It was a little thing I dubbed the boss project.

What I wasn’t prepared for was that there would be other things I’d enjoy doing to Merrick Crawford.

Getting involved with the boss wasn’t the smartest choice.

But you know what they say about choices: Some we regret, some we are proud of. I just had no idea where this one was going to land.

    This story popped into my library at just the right time. I was in a but of a funk and nothing was appealing to me until..along came these driven, authentic and charismatic characters. The leading couple were astounding and impossible to drag myself away from. From the very beginning, I was mesmerised by the awkwardness of our sassy little lady, amused beyond believe at the shenanigans. The creative flair that the author exhibited was unique and refreshing. This story burrowed into my very soul.     It ended too abruptly! It left too many unanswered questions. It wasn’t enough. What made him come back? What did the ex say? Did he drop the case? How did he get over his trust issues? Like arg… Do not start to tighten tension to just then skip over the resolution!!!

    I am quite the fan of all things Vi Keeland, and once again she has written a book that is all that and a bag of chips.
    From the first moment Merrick & Evie meet, I had a silly grin on my face. I decided right then and there to settle in and get myself ready for fun times. There were plenty of them to come as the chapters flew by, but the flashbacks to Merricks past brought about quite some emotional periods as well. It was something I wasn’t quite expecting but by the end of the story, to me it ended up making the book all the more incredible. The extra flashback after the epilogue was just like icing on an already delicious cake. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

    This book is good. Vi Keeland is a very good writer but her books are getting monotonous. All the books start with funny conversations between H and h, then they fall in love and in flashback H always had an ex who cheats and had a kid.I want the author to explore different story lines and genres as her writing skills are outstanding and can really write very good romantic comedy books.

    What a roller coaster of emotions in this book.

    One minute I was disliking Merrick, then I was swooning over Merrick, to back disliking Merrick and finally falling for Merrick.

    Evie (Everly - Dr Vaughn) can hold her own even though her life to this point was a rocky one. However, this did not stop her or stop her to achieving her goals.

    This is a slow burn with some emotional drama. Sit back and enjoy this five star office romance.

    Kitty - my gosh she is one hilarious grandmother.

I've been devouring Vi Keeland's books; some were lingering in my Kindle from years ago, and I've been acquiring more along the way. I peruse the synopses and choose which one to dive into next. Her writing style resonates with me deeply. Let me share about Everly, also known as Evie, and Merrick. Their story as star-crossed lovers is profoundly moving and emotional.

    Evie is just recovering from marrying her fiancé and then revealing his affair with her maid of honor, Mia, to everyone at the reception. She was meant to record her fiancé's reaction to an ancestral inscription on a piece of jewelry given by her in-laws, but instead, she accidentally recorded Christian and Mia in an intimate moment. After a hospital visit with her sister due to an incident involving her husband, Evie chose to marry him and expose his betrayal at the reception. Now in New York, where her sister resides, Evie, who has no other known living relatives since her mother and grandmother passed away, is seeking employment. Coming from a home marred by domestic abuse, where her father assaulted her mother in front of her and her sister, Evie struggles with trust issues. As the story begins, Evie, a therapist possibly influenced to pursue psychiatry by her past, is job hunting. She lands an interview at Merrick Crawford Investment firm through a connection with Merrick's grandmother. Merrick and Evie's grandmothers were neighbors, and after Evie's grandmother died of cancer, Kitty, Merrick's grandmother, became a close confidante. Kitty grandmother to Merrick and longtime friend to Evie. A matchmaker. Evie is looking for a job, has had several unsuccessful interviews and ruined outfits when she has a chance encounter with her soon to be new boss. The story unfolds and is easy to follow although as ever difficult to stop and put down. A compulsive read, with a few bumps but a delightful HEA.     THE MAIN CHARACTERS DID NOT CHEAT - DID YOU ACTUALLY READ IT? Before you read my review, I just read a 3 star review complaining they can’t give a good review because both the characters were cheating, and there was no warning — and because of this bad review there’s others who clicked great thanks, this is MISINTERPRETED INFO - the main characters did not cheat! I find it really sad that anyone would leave a bad review and not even get the information they are complaining about right!

    This author has been a one click and go for me since she started writing many years ago. Her books have only gotten better and better. This book was amazing and I loved it. The best part about VI’s books is that they flow perfectly. I wasn’t ever board or felt the story lagged or was too rushed. I basically couldn’t stop reading until the wee hours and for me, that makes a great book. The characters were meticulously created. You can’t help but care for them and root for their HEA. The only thing I would say was that once the climax of the story was over I really wanted a bit more once they were on their way to their HEA but it moved into an epilogue that was a year after. Other than that small thing, which many authors do, I loved the story and couldn’t put it down.
