The Perfect First (Fulton U) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 6,598 ratings

“How long do you last in bed?” Those were her first words to me, swiftly followed up with, “And how big would you say you are?”

Cue the record scratching, what?!

Persephone Alexander. Math genius. Lover of blazers. The only girl I know who can make Heidi braids look sexy as hell. And she’s on a mission. Lose her virginity by the end of the semester.

I walked in on her interview session for potential candidates (who even does that?) and saw straight through her brave front. She’s got a list of Firsts to accomplish like she’s only got months to live. I’ve decided to be her guide for all her firsts except one. Someone’s got to keep her out of trouble. I have one rule, no sex. We even shook on it.

I’ll help her find the right guy for the job. Someone like her doesn’t need someone like me and my massive...baggage for her first time.

Drinking at a bar. Check.

Partying all night. Double check.

Skinny dipping. Triple check.

She’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met. The walls I’d put up around my heart are slowly crumbling with each touch that sets fire to my soul.

I’m the first to bend the rules. One electrifying kiss changes everything and suddenly I don’t want to be her first, I want to be her only. But her plan was written before I came onto the scene and now I’m determined to get her to re-write her future with me.

This was my first read from this author and definitely won’t be my last. Reece and Seph are both the kind of characters I have a soft spot for. Plenty of laughs, some sweet and a dash of chemistry made this a fantastic college read. Definitely recommend.

    Oh My!
The Perfect First was such a fun, sweet and steamy read!

Seph was such a quirky and fun person.
Her childhood wasn’t a normal childhood, she wasn’t allowed to make friends her own age, she was always pushed towards studying and becoming the perfect daughter.
With her attempt at rebellion against her Father Seph make a bucket list of “Firsts” she wants to cross off before he Father calls her back under lock and key. I loved her excitement when it came to crossing things off her list and best of all was her making friends and getting a boyfriend that would have her back no matter the cost.

Reece is the playboy jock and he doesn’t want to be attached to anyone for fear of the previous year repeating itself.
Yet the quirky nerd girl gains all his attention without even trying, he quickly becomes protective and doesn’t want to see anyone take advantage of her and he wants to be the one to give her all her firsts.

I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to reading the others in the series.

I enjoyed this story by Maya that takes place at Fulton University between Seph and Reece. They both have lived wildly different lives but because of a mistake of Reece’s part and their first meeting, their lives become intricately entwined and brings about new experiences for both of them and learning truths about themselves they never knew😁

Looking forward to Nix’s story next❣️

    The Perfect First
    Maya Hughes
College kids. Reece the footy player, jock with a past snapping at his heels. The star of the show. Seph is fighting for her freedom at college from her overbearing father, he has the highest of academic aspirations for the daughter he has groomed for mathematical success. He wants her to be the youngest math major to leave Harvard. She wants to live her own life at Fulton. She makes a list of first she wants to accomplish while she has a few short months.
Reece is told to meet with someone who will change his arrogant image, teach him to behave when fronting the media. The meeting got confused and he met with Seph.
“I was tired of being nice and quiet and small. I was tired of being me, and the only way to change that was to stop being afraid of what I wanted.”
Seph made a list of firsts, Reece could let this mesmerising girl get away.
The central characters are deep and beautifully flawed. The secondary characters also add depth to the story. This is a truly character driven novel. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone novel with hea. I really got into this book and enjoyed it more and more as it progressed!
    4 1/2 stars.
I received an arc of this book.

    ~4,5 stars~

This audiobook is another proof that a good narration can make a really good book even better. I loved and enjoyed The Perfect First when I first read it but I enjoyed it even more when I was listening to this amazing narration. This is one of those narrations that I will definitely listen to again and again.

I loved to see Persephone blossom and learn to live life the way she wants to live it. To see her claim her life and fall in love with Reece, one "first" after the other. And Reece, well, I think he wasn't really prepared for someone like Seph but who could resist such a charming introduction?

This was a story that drew me in right from the start. The characters are wonderful, they are very authentic and likable and the whole story was very warm and sweet. I also loved the secondary characters a lot who were also well developed and authentic. Some of them we will meet again in the next books of this series that I have also read and really enjoyed. Interesting stories with a unique twist and a lot of charm and humor. I can't wait to listen to the next books in audio as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars heartwarming and fun read with just the right amount of steamy scenes

THE PERFECT FIRST is a book 1 in the “Fulton U” series by Maya Hughes. It is told in 1st person from both POV with a HEA.

    Tropes:
✔️ nerdy girl + sporty boy / opposites attract
    ✔️ friends to lovers
    ✔️ college football

Maya Hughes' The Perfect First, the debut novel in the Fulton U series, introduces us to Persephone Alexander, an 18-year-old math genius attending Fulton University before starting a Ph.D. program. In order to take back some of the control her overbearing father wields over her, Seph decides to take experience new things by creating a "list of firsts," which includes finding the right guy to help her lose her V-card.

Enter Reece Michaels, a senior football player who wants nothing more than to make it to the NFL. Reece and Seph's chance encounter leads to Reece agreeing to help Seph with her list, but without sex. However, as Reece helps Seph cross off her list, he can't help but fall completely for her and realizes he doesn't just want to be Seph's present, he wants to be her forever.

Although Reece and Seph's time together is limited due to their future plans, they make the most of it. Reece's friends play a significant role in the novel and show Seph the meaning of friendship, something she has never had before.

The novel showcases the growth and strength of Seph's character, who overcomes her sheltered upbringing and learns to experience life. The chemistry between Seph and Reece is palpable and their relationship is adorable. The novel is a heartwarming and fun read with just the right amount of steamy scenes.

Overall, The Perfect First is an enjoyable read that will make you fall in love with the characters. The book sets the stage for the rest of the series, and I can't wait to read more about Reece's friend Nix in the next book, The Second We Met. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a sweet and sexy romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars So cute and funny!!

Super cute! Super funny! I loved every minute of this book. Persephone’s journey was riveting. Reese needed a lot of character development 😋 He’s the perfect guy who annoys you from the first chapter and you fall in love with before the female protagonist does.

Reese is a typical jock who is full of himself and very self centred. He has his goals in his mind and is dead set on accomplishing reaching professional football status. He is fine living his life... until an accidental meeting mixup flips his world upside down. Persephone is tired of how she’s been living her life under her fathers strict rule. It’s time she found herself and she’s starting with a list of all her firsts she wants to accomplish before finishing the semester. Starting with interviewing candidates for her to lose her V card to!!

For whatever reason, after Reese sees what Persephone is trying to do, he gets a protective streak and can’t let her go through with her original plans. He takes it upon himself to help her work through her lists of firsts (all except the first item). As these two go on this journey, they learn so much about each other, and themselves.

I love how they experience life together from different perspectives. This is a perfect quirky college romance, and I can’t wait to continue the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm completely in love with Seph and Reece.

I think it's been ages since a book made me want a relationship this much, and I relate in such a high level with Seph.
First of all, the characters are so amazing:
Seph is such a strong girl, she went through so much with her father and she still managed to see, after all, how she deserves so much more than that. I love how she realizes that's not all there is out there for her, and that she is amazing in her own, no matter what her father says. That's probably my favorite thing about her. And of course, how she can be so smart and talented.
Reece is so loyal and so soft. I love how Maya didn't make him the usual athlete jackass type. He's so gentle and caring, especially with Seph, but also with his friends. I just love him and how he treats himself and the others.
All the boys were soooo fun to read, all the little scenes with them included and the Brothel made me laugh and smile so much, I can't wait to read all the other books.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect First For Me
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 May 2019

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book after reading the reviews but I really enjoyed this story, both Seph and Reece were fab main characters. And this to me was a quintessential college coming of age story and also a first from this author for me. I will be reading more from her that’s for sure.

Seph was a socially awkward college student with no friends and feeling like life was passing her by she decides that she is going to change that and sets out to make all of the things she feels she is going to miss out on when she returns to the life her father has planned for her. Deciding that she will hold interviews for the person she loses her virginity too she puts out an advert but when the perfect candidate is sat there in error she knows that she wants to experience more with him can she convince him to help her live for the first time in her life or will she be returning to a life of solitary and following her father’s rules and expectations.

Reece is a football legend on and off the field at Fulton U after the previous year of scandal he is ready to have some fun and become the NFL star that he was born to become. There is no way that love is on the cards for him especially after the last gold digger but once he meets Seph accidentally he cannot get her out of his mind and soon she’s embedded in his every thought. How did this happen and now that it has could there be a way that he can follow his dreams and have the career he always wanted?

Not saying too much but there is a lot more going on in this story and both have things that they need to work through together. Wonderful story that I know I will read again in the future and I am very happy that this is the only start to what looks to be a funny and sweet series.
