Book 3 in On My Own series by Carrie Ann Ryan narrated by Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder.
This book is about Nessa and miles both original characters and all the other books in the series and it carries on from the previous book. So in the previous book Nessa eventually tells Pacey that She loves him but thankfully it does work itself out a little bit and Nessa Realises that it she’s not in love with him but the idea of it and family in this book seems to get over it very quickly and starts a very slow burning relationship with miles. Really love how everything built them between them especially with the fact that Miles clearly had a thing for Nessa in the previous book especially when he was about to beat up Pacey for his part in breaking heart.
Also with Carrie Ann Ryan but she always have a element of torture a little bit and some miles his was quite distinctive but I did feel that it was overdone maybe a little bit yes what happened to him was awful and he could say that he might of had a play part to play in it personally I think maybes whole family need to go to therapy instead of just blaming Miles so this did get a little bit old for me especially as it was re-done over and over and over again Through the story eventually thankfully did come to a conclusion at the end of the book and hopefully we can move on from his torture or his faults as he felt he had. This is the first time I’ve listened to Stephen Dexter as a narrator didn’t like him and he did try and pull off a British accent but not very well personally mostly to do with the fact that if the original Pacey in the books was narrated by Shane East who is a fantastic British narrator very drool worthy. Emma Wilder is actually one of my favourite female narrators and to be honest could probably pulled this book off on the road was nice to have a mail in there I just wish that they would do it as a dual narration I think it’s called when one reads guys I’m en route to females but I quite like that but to be honest Emma Wilder is absolutely amazing as the narrator.
Absolutely loved the epilogue Cannot wait for the next book in the series absolutely love Carrie Ann Ryan I love that she writes a lot of genres just finished her new witch series and it is amazing.

My review is written voluntarily after listening to the audio version of this book.

This is the third book in the On My Own Series, and although it's always best to listen/read these books in order each story is good enough that it can be appreciated as a stand-alone story. This time it's the turn of Nessa and Miles, friends who are both attracted to each other but who are both in denial and neither know that they are not alone in their feelings for the other.

Nessa denies her feelings for Miles because she made the mistake of thinking that the crush she had for her best friend Pacey was actually love and because everyone, with the exception of Pacey, knew how she felt she's embarrassed and hesitant to believe her feelings for Miles could be the real thing whilst Miles doesn't act on his feelings because he thinks Nessa is still pining for Pacey.

I adored Miles, he's somewhat broken due to the death of his twin and his parent's behaviour towards him since her death. He's brainy, a little geeky, wears glasses but that's where the comparison to a nerd ends, He's handsome, strong and ripped and seriously into Nessa something she's oblivious to. They shared a kiss a year ago, Miles thought it was only because she was drunk but it wasn't, yes she had drunk too much but she knew what she was doing. So for their own reasons neither has ever mentioned "the kiss" and both have pretended it didn't happen. It's really a case of so much angst and hurt that could have been avoided if they had just sat down and talked!

Now they are both in their final semesters of college, with lots happening in their lives, will they talk, admit their feelings and be together? Obviously, the author has given them both challenges to face, none of which I'm even going to hint at, will they overcome them and build a future together?

There are parts to their stories that really affected me, they both deserve so much but their journey to their HEA does, in fact, make them both stronger and brings them closer together.

The narration of this book is excellent, Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder work so well together and bring each character to life beautifully.

My Next Play is the third instalment in this wonderful series. This book is a friends to lovers romance that finally tells us more about the quiet and unassuming Miles, and his unrequited feelings for Nessa. Nessa is still suffering from a broken heart and a touch of embarrassment after her own unrequited love situation and so has sworn off relationships.

Both are struggling with issues around trust, mainly trusting themselves and therefore are reluctant in taking that jump from friendship to more. There is plenty of drama to keep you on the edge of your seat as their story is emotional and heartfelt.

These friends need to find their way through their own confusion and fear, as well as the drama that unfolds around them, but is this rollercoaster of emotion finally the adventure and journey them need to take to reach the love they deserve.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Miles and Nessa, so good
Reviewed in the United States on 7 September 2021
Nessa and Miles are friends. They're also attracted to each other. Neither knows the other has feelings that go beyond friendship.

Nessa is leary of her feelings for Miles because she's been down this road before. She had feelings for her best friend Pacey, but it was a case of a crush and unrequited. So she's embarrassed and hesitant to go that route again.

Miles is brainy, a little geeky, and really really into Nessa. She doesn't know it and he's not going to tell her thinking there are still feelings for Pacey going on.

What Nessa doesn't know is that things started to change when she kissed Miles a year ago. She pretends she doesn't remember that night because she'd been drinking and she thinks Miles wasn't affected by the kiss. Miles pretends it didn't affect him on a deep level because she was drunk and he refused to take advantage, and he thinks she doesn't remember.

Can these two get through their final semesters of college? Can they reveal secrets they've held onto? Can they come together and find a future based on love and friendship? I'll give you a hint ... it's a romance so Happily Ever After is a pretty good bet.

They both face challenges on the path to graduation and adulthood and just life in general. Both have pasts that are tricky and complicated, but together they just might find a way to be the people and couple they're meant to be.

As usual Carrie Ann creates characters and worlds that are exceptionally relateable and familiar, while still being unique and enthralling. There's a reason I'm a dedicated fan ... it's because the writing, story telling and world building are top notch.

Pick up this work, I guarantee you'll enjoy it. It is part of a series and reading the other works in the series will give you a deeper understanding of what's going on ... but it's not a neccessity to enjoy this book.

Nessa is still embarrassed about thinking she was in love with her best friend Pacey. He ends up with Mackenzie and she realizes it was never true love. Now she can't keep her eyes off Miles but she's vowed to not get into a relationship with another roommate. Miles has it bad for Nessa but isn't going to press the issue. Then he helps her study for one of her classes and the two get close. They end up together but have made a vow to not get serious. So much happens to change their situation. Nessa has a stalker who won't accept that after two dates she wants nothing to do with him. Her finances take a down turn after her Mom dies of cancer and her Dad is swamped in debts. It's looking like she won't be able to finish the semester out. Everything comes to a head when her stalker rams the car Miles is driving and tries to kidnap Nessa. It's an excellent story with a happy ever after and I loved it.

Nessa is trying to get herself back after her most embarrassing mistake of her life. She mistook friendship for romance. She got a crush on her good friend parcy but he didn’t see her that way and then he fell in love with her roommate Mackenzie. So it took awhile to feel comfortable again. In the meantime someone has had feeling for her but didn’t want to push until someone she was dating couldn’t take no for a answers. That’s when things changed between them. But trouble is still out there to make more trouble for them. So enjoy another great read and see how it may work out for them !!

I think I loved this book better then the first two! Miles blamed himself for what happened to His twin. He has had a thing for Nessa for awhile but never thought she would go for a guy like him. Nessa never trusted her feelings after the whole Pacey thing. But she had feelings for Miles. They went through a lot. This book has so many feels. I loved it. I can't wait for Tanner's book.
