- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 January 2022This series have been everything I needed, but didn’t know to ask for. The story captivated me from the first chapter, and the characters are unique as well as easy to recognise. Each of the main characters carry traits that feels like being reunited with old friends, whilst also being so different that it’s a joy to get to know them!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 May 2018book 4, of a 4 part series that must be read in order.
Oh my! After the drama and events of Flesh Into Fire, Maddie and Tyler are finally moving forward with their lives, working through things.
I laughed and I cried. It's easy to be invested in Maddie and Tyler after all they've been through. The inner monologue of both characters is brilliant. I have absolutely loved this series. I wanted to read to see how it was all going to finish, and yet I didn't want it to end.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 May 2018Passion Rising (Original Sin #4) was the final ride ( or maybe not!) for Tyler and Maddie and what an emotional and entertaining roller coaster journey it has been, and I have to say I have loved every minute of it.
In this last book, we get to see Tyler and Maddie face and put their demons to rest and understanding and except each other. It was great to see the growth between the two over the series. Tyler is probably going to go down as one of my favourite characters I adore him and his entertaining ways. Maddie was a kiss ass sweetheart, and I love her resilience.
Not wanting to spoiler for anyone so I won't say much more. Other than the writing was fantastic, and the end was perfect and well deserved for Maddie and Tyler.
I look forward to reading more from both these authors. If you haven’t picked up this series, then you really must, as you won’t be disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 May 2018Wow! I’m so glad each book in this series wasn’t too far apart because I wouldn’t have had the patience to wait! The final book in this series just really really tops it all off.
It made me laugh and gasp and cry! Jeez did chapter 19 make me cry! Maddie and Taylor’s relationship just gets better, their friendships with people who they thought they couldn’t be friends with, get better. Everything get better!

I cried, I laughed
I cried and I laughed some more… that was the best 4 books I have read in a long time. Love the energy between Maddie and Tyler.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 August 2020Think of an even sexier Deadpool and you get Tyler. Maddie is just a badass as any woman would want to be and super hot. All the feels in the book - proper ugly crying at one point, as well as laugh out loud ... loved it/them all x
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 May 2018Passion Rising is the conclusion to Tyler and Maddies story and the previous books do need to be read before starting this.
Now back from Mexico, Maddie and Tyler’s lives finally seems to be going well. Happier than they’ve been for ages, they’re both riding the high and enjoying been with each other. It’s not long before real life intrudes and brings insecurities and old faces from the past. Will Maddie and Tyler be able to overcome them and get their HEA?
This instalment isn’t as action packed as the previous books and what it lacks in action it certainly makes up for with the complexity of the characters. The authors somehow manage to make two extremely complex, troubled, quirky characters into two of the best characters I’ve read. When I first started this series I wasn’t quite sure what to make of Tyler. His mind was so chaotic and he was so random that I didn’t think I’d like him. I ended up absolutely loving him. His quirkiness, his darker, more troubled side and his sense of humour cracked me up.
I’ve really enjoyed reading the Original Sin series and a part of me is gutted to say goodbye to Maddie and Tyler. Their story is an action packed read for sure.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 May 2018What a finale to a wonderful trilogy. Maddie and Tyler always seem to be in the wrong place at the right time. This novel continues with humour, romance mystery, relationship issues, neglect, and much more. I really enjoyed the concept of heaven, and the mind narrations. A great book well worth 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tyler, is footloose and fancy free and Maddie (is) simply in over her head...
I would most certainly recommend this series. Initially I was leery of Tyler and his "thought process" but soon I caught on and I think he is one of the most enjoyable characters I have ever read. His internal dialog was witty and not incessantly repetitive of [what if's] as more often than not they usually are, it wasn't filler, it really played a part in this story. Maddie, is a survivor and adapts her life to her surroundings as needed.
There were other characters that I really liked and would've liked to get to know better Guilt, it can be debilitating without you even being aware of it. It can affect a person's physical, mental, emotional and social health factors and it's a feeling that can last a lifetime.

3.0 out of 5 stars I needed more
I am a tad disappointed in this last installment. The whole book felt more like a huge epilogue, and the action we got in the third book is now long gone.i needed more, unfortunately it didn't happen.
Tyler made me laugh, though, and I liked the family/tribe vibe of this opus.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Much More...10 Stars!
I was scrolling through Audible looking for a book that was included in the premium library to get lost in while I myself got lost in the mundane things of my everyday mom life. I usually err towards the side of “dark” or “taboo” in the romance genre, just because it’s hard to find anything with any actual suspense, depth, angst, or conflict that isn’t repetitive or contrite, in mainstream romance. So needless to say finding this series was like finding Buried Freaking Treasure!!
I don’t know that it would be classified as “Dark”, while there are certainly dark elements at play, but I just finished the “Original Sin” series by Johnathon McClain and JA Huss and I’m obsessed with it.
I sought out the first book in the series “Sin with Me” because Tad Branson is one of my favorite Narrators on Audible. He always brings so much emotion to his interpretations that I rarely ever come away without tears from a book that he narrates. When I reached the end of the Audible for Sin with Me, it was revealed that Tad Branson IS Johnathon McClain! What kind of Mindfuckery was this!?🤯 No wonder his performance was off the charts in bringing the Protagonist Tyler to life.
This series was emotionally charged. It was about existentialism, tragedy (a lot of it), suspense, a cacophony of emotional depth, self-healing and growth within two damaged people.....and of course, love. Also, the sex was off the charts!
Anyway, I adored this series and the absolute head cases the two main characters are. It’s so so much more than a romance, and is by all means not a light read. So if you are not prepared to be ripped open and put back together with a box of tissues handy, I dare say you should pass on this one.
However, if any of what I have described to you above tickles your fancy, then you will not be disappointed by this series. Also, do yourself a favor and listen to the Audible. It’s AMAZING!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a fantastic series
I have laughed so had, and enjoyed these books. Maddie and Tyler are too much, what a couple. I have not had so much fun with a series the love is real between them and the support for each other will hopefully last forever. Great writing
From our authors.

4.0 out of 5 stars A romance with depth and complex characters you love.
Okay, so reviewing the final book in a series is always harder. You can’t go into too much since you’ll definitely touch on spoilers for the prior books – and I know a lot will wait for a series to be completed to read – so I’m just going to try and focus on my feels. And hopefully, make sense
I went into the series with certain ideas. I have read JA Huss’s books for YEARS. And I think I sort of had this idea in the back of my mind that even with a writing partner, her trademark suspense and twistiness would be the dominant voice. As I read, I felt myself waiting for that a-ha moment and it was completely wrong of me. I had to press pause and shake it off. I pressed play and remembered that this is something new.
Was the writing fantastic? Yes. The characters were complex and had depth. They were easy to like and relate to. And Tyler’s quirks became almost adorable. Maddie’s growth was a pleasure to watch. She tried, failed, tried, and failed a bunch more and yet she still dusted herself off and tried again. They worked for their ending. They fought for it and in the end, they deserved it.
At a particular point in this story, I was torn. I wasn’t feeling it exactly – but what surprised me, was that even though I was having my doubts about it, it hit me emotionally. It was a beautiful moment that hit me right in the feels and caught me completely off-guard. Which I think is a testament to the ability of these two. Impact. It’s all about the impact. They led me there – they got me to a place where their words would be able to affect me. Because they ensured I was invested in the characters and their lives.
I look forward to their next project and I really think that after reading this series that I will be able to go into the next book with more of an open mind. To be able to shake off what turns I expect the story to take, to stop looking for the surprises in the shadows and just enjoy the ride.
