Absolutely amazing side characters. Molly and Jake were the best! Incredible caring people.

Very likable and strong heroine. My heart broke for her. But I respected her for not giving up.

The hero irritated me till approx. 35%. Some things he said (especially about OWs from his past) made me want to punch him in his ‘pretty’ face. He was an arrogant jerk. Grr. Some of his pickup lines put him in my box ‘dude, grow the hell up, you moron’. After he started to think with his big head, I could calm my nerves and enjoy the book. He even succeeded to win me over #miracleinAlex’sworld

I’m not a forgiving person, but he turned out to be a very patient and respectful guy. He didn’t push his woman, he gave her a choice! Not a typical scenario in CR.

The heroine was really sweet and sassy. I liked her a lot.

For those, who are ‘better’ person than Alex*, it could be a well-earned 5 star read!

For the past two days, I have been trying to read this book but now I give up. Sorry, it just wasn't my cuppa!

Characters:

The hero is annoying and much too arrogant for my liking. He talks about all women around him as potential gold diggers throwing themselves at him for his money.

When girls find out we have money, they’re like vultures.

***

It’s getting to the point where I don’t know who to trust. I’m far from celebrity status, and it’s grueling to date when people know who I am, who know my family’s background. I can’t imagine what the A-list celebrities go through. No wonder there are so many divorces and prenuptial agreements in Hollywood.

And when he is not thinking that women are gold diggers, he makes other kinds of insults about them in his mind.

Seriously, do woman think mile-long nails turn a guy on? I mean, I’m all for some scratches on my chest and back, not a man out there who isn’t, but those things, fuck me, they’ll put an eye out. No thanks. I shrug her off, not even caring that I’m being a dick. She needs to back the hell off with those torture devices.

Although he was better with our heroine, I still couldn't like him for that matter!

***********************************************

The heroine is sweet and sassy and I liked her. My only criticism for her is that she keeps saying she is a foster kid and she doesn't have any family and that is not enough for a good man and no good man wants a woman with no family...

Once or twice, maybe, but she says it more than enough times, which also irritated me. Her self-pity can be OK while talking to herself or to her friends but when she says the following things to the man she is attracted to, I kind of didn't like it.

“Honestly, with my background, I know I’m the least appealing. Who wants to be with someone who has no one? I have nothing to offer, no family gatherings, no grandparents for our kids, just me...”

***

“It’s just hard, you know. I have no family. Most men who are ready to settle down look for that. You know ‘What’s her mom look like? Because that’s what you’re going to be waking up next to in thirty years.’” She takes a drink of her wine. “And what if someday I have kids? I mean, I know my parents, and I have their records from the foster system. Elaine somehow pulled some strings, but that’s it. I don’t know if my grandparents had heart disease or diabetes. What if my kids get sick and I need that information and I can’t help them?”

All this whining annoyed me. Maybe it is because I believe that a "good man" doesn't need to see the family tree of a woman he loves and she was underestimating her value by repeating all that stuff.

***********************************************

Hero/heroine at the beginning:

He rubs his d*ck against her while whispering sexual innuendos in her ear and it just rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't like their flirting period at all.

Their relationship later:

Dragging and boring!

Dragging because he is being patient with her, kissing her temple all the time etc. (Yeah, yeah, I am serious. D*ck rubbing turns into temple kissing!)

Boring because nothing interesting happens for many and many pages.

Plot twist:

And, I am out - I don't even feel like skimming and scanning to see the end.

P.S. Side characters, Molly & Jake were awesome. I would rather read their story.

Here is the thing about Miss Ryan's book, I do not have a very fangirl ing feeling. I thought her story is too much detail. Especially a small things that has nothing to do with the story development. The plot is also so so.

Hey, Whiskey is exactly that. So so, luke warm feeling. In Hey, Whiskey, at least the drama when it comes to which hero to choose, is not too dramatic. Saylor knows she fall for Rhett. And she has no hesitation when it comes to choose between Pete and Rhett. Thank God for that. I also like Saylor. I can relate to her insecurity after years of loneliness.

Rhett is difficult to swallow. I am glad at the end he is coming to his senses about Saylor. The last climax is really not necessary. Anyway, at the end I like this book OK.

The h was like a whiney Orphan Annie, I guess I like more gritty or upbeat h's.
The H was hot, but the h/H didn't match if that makes sense.
The H needed someone less needy and the h seemed to see in H the answer for her need for family more than anything.
But still loved the small town setting.

Thank you to my sweet friend Leonor for loaning me this book! I wasn't crazy about the hero for most of the book, but he ended up being just what Saylor needed. He was crazy about her and didn't look at another woman after he met her, but I could have done without his thoughts of how he was with OW before meeting her. I loved the secondary characters- they were great!

This story worked for me in a lot of ways. I am starting with this, as there is a big thing that didn't work. The break up scenario and the relationship throughout the book with Saylor's ex really didn't work for me. Not enough that it ruined the book, but enough that I had a hard time believing that she would have found herself in the scenario to meet Rhett.

However, once I got past this, I enjoyed the book. Saylor and Rhett have chemistry and I loved their first meeting, his reasons for not liking her, and the way they slowly warm up to one another. It was sweet, it had heat, and I enjoyed it.

I liked the supporting characters, and I thought they added a lot to the story without overpowering it. The reason Rhett was back in town was, in a lot of ways, more believable than Saylor's and I liked that there was always a reason for him to stay, and that you knew this from the beginning.

There isn't a lot in the story that is angsty, which was kind of nice. Sometimes, it is great to read a story that doesn't keep your heart jumping every chapter, but lets you enjoy the story and lets you slide into the romance with the characters.

Overall, the story was sweet, you liked the characters, and you mostly believed the actions of the people. I recommend this title.

I liked it but for me the true heroine in the story is Molly... This woman, this woman was amazing. She offered a hand to someone she didn't know, she offered her friendship, her love, her trust, her support... Did I say she was amazing?

I did like the hero little bit and heroine don't get me wrong but for me Molly made the book.
So this rating is mainly for her only.

I loved this book so much back when I read it in 2017! While I did still like it, I didn’t love it the second time around. There were details about it that didn’t fit into what I like in my romances now. This was a slow burnish romance and I stay far away from those. Also, I didn’t start to like either character until about 35% of the book.

Once we got to a bit over the middle mark, I started to see why I would have rated it so high. Once Saylor and Rhett got over their jabs and finally started to admit to themselves that they liked the other, we got the romance I was looking for. I liked how Rhett chased Saylor, no matter how much she put up her walls.

However, the best character here was Molly. She was so caring and amazing for helping Saylor. She saw the good in her and helped in a way that most people wouldn’t for someone that they didn’t know.

All in all, five years later, I can’t say it’s one of my favorites anymore, but the romance still put a smile on my face.

I loved this audible book (I'm going to miss Audible Escape so much)! There is nothing like a group of truly talented actors performing a book.
Our hero and heroine have a romance on the move. She wants to be with him but feels she doesn't deserve a long lasting relationship. He is rich and doesn't have a high regard for women in general. But they have a bit of a romance building. Then Vegas happens.
Fairly good story, but performed perfectly!

Rhett knows how to turn on the charm, “that I’m an animal. I could show you sometime. Help you work out some of that aggression.” Saylor raises a lot of reactions out of her man, “you, that’s what.” I grab her hand and place it over my ***k. “You did this, and looking like that”— I point to her—“ I’m going to be hard all effing day.” I liked this book, I loved Rhett.

These two characters come to each other with their own baggage. One of theme literally. Saylor has lost everyone in her life and none she is trying to redefine herself. Entering into a little bar she didn't expect she would find a job, friends, and a place to live. The bar became her saving grace. Then she meets him. Rhett. He walks into the bar acting like he owns the place and beings to use his charms on Saylor. Well girl doesn't fall for it. These two then have their lives thrown at each other and intertwined. Their relationship is steamy because they are able to with stand one another for only so long.

When Rhett goes back to West Virginia to help out his grandfather he didn't think he would be there very long. As his time there continues and rekindling with old friends helps him find who he is and wants to be. meeting Saylor was just the icing on the cake. She couldn't walk into a room without Rhett having his full attention on her.

One weekend in Vegas as a favor turns into a mistake that neither of them are sure they were wanting to make. Now it is a waiting game until they can rectify the problem. But is it really a problem or providence?

I ate through this book in less then 24 hours. Couldn't put it down. Loved every minute of it. I want to say one things about Kaylee Ryan's books. Do not be deceived by the covers. The covers have Oh So Gorgeous men on them, but these books are NOT erotica. There is so much more story, character development, and pulled heart strings. Her books have depth. That is why I love them. Yes they have hot scene that make you need a fan or a tall glass off wine. But they are so much more then that. I love the way she writes and the way her characters grow.

Overall I will always tell you to read a Kaylee Ryan book. You will never be disappointed. I am giving this one 4 hearts. Not my favorite, but it was still amazing.

POOR SAYLOR! My heart literally broke for her and her situation. To lose the only woman who was like a mother to you, sell her house because of a promised bright future, and then find out your boyfriend not only cheated but is also expecting to be a father and getting married...Well.....that pretty much sucks the juice right out of the lemon.

I literally wanted to punch Pete in the junk over and over again!

Now with no home and no family, Saylor does what every scorned female does....She heads to the nearest bar and decides to drink her problems away. However, she doesn't get that far when she meets Molly and befriends Molly, the bartender.

Rhett is the hero of this story. Rhett returns home when he gets the news that his grandfather is sick, to take over running the distillery. Rhett and his grandfather used to be close until Rhett decided his time was better spent helping his father in the brewing business and spending less time helping his grandfather. Trust me when I say, Rhett's Gramps knows how to turn a mean cold shoulder. Rhett has to find a way to fix their crumbled relationship before it is too late.

I really love Rhett and Saylor together. I loved that they gave each other what the other was needing. I loved the friendship Saylor found in two complete strangers (Molly and Jake) especially when she needed someone at that particular moment in her life.

Even though I loved the story, I felt a few scenarios where a little over dramatized and farfetched. I hated Saylor's friend Tara. My stomach literally turned at how false this friendship felt from the very beginning.

However, the positives outweigh the negatives with Hey, Whiskey by Kaylee Ryan and I do plan on doing a reread in the future and a review update. At this moment though, Hey, Whiskey is a novel that I really liked but sadly, I didn't love this one.

Kaylee Ryan definitely knows how to write romance y'all..... and more specifically her swoony heroes because I swear I fall harder for these guys with each new book but HE...was all kinds of special...in a lot of ways.

Hey, Whiskey was a smoldering, unforgettable, beautiful romance that delivered a stunning journey that had me hanging onto every single little word. All of the feels and a whole lot of heart, Kaylee exceeded my expectations with this book and had me swooning, cover to cover.

One night and one moment is going to change everything.

Great banter. Sizzling chemistry. Undeniable connection. Saylor and Rhett stormed onto my kindle and completely stole my heart. I loved every moment that these two gave me and when their journey was over, I wanted more. Rhett got me hooked deep with this charm and Saylor.. his perfect match.

If you haven't stumbled across Kaylee Ryan then it's something you need to fix.....contemporary romance lovers!

I highly recommend this book.

This is my first Kaylee Ryan book and I absolutely loved it. We follow the story of Rhett and Saylor. Saylor’s had a tough life, her parents died when she was you and she ended up in foster care, different house after different house until she was finally taken in by Elaine (finally a character with a great name 😊) A few sad things happen Elaine passes away and Saylor finds out the love of her life, who she thought she would marry and have kids with, is infact going to marry someone else. She’s left with nothing, no place to live and no job because she works at the same place as they do. Rhett has had a very privledged life and has a great family, he works at his family brewery but always loved spending time with his Grand Father in West Virginia who runs the family Whiskey Distillery. It been many years since Rhett spent time in West Virginia but when his Grand Father becomes sick he moves back to run the place. The last thing he expected to happen when he visited his best mate, who runs one of the local bars was to meet the most stunning women in his life. We have some twists and turns in this book. And what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. One night changed it all. I absolutely loved both these characters and can’t wait to read another book by this author.

I’m late with this review. I had the flu, really bad don’t want to move my body, turn out the lights and go away flu. When I could finally get my eyes open and focus, I opened up this book. Now, not only I am feeling better but I got to finish this outstanding book! Hey Whiskey by Kaylee Ryan was a hot, sexy, romantic read.
Saylor hasn’t had the easiest path in life after being orphaned early in life, she had just lost the only person who had given her a sense of family, her foster mom. Her ex then hurts her again and she takes off. Determined to make it on her own, she finds a place at Corner Pocket bar. Owners Molly and Jake not only give her a job, but a place to live.
Rhett Baxter is sweet, sexy man. Coming to town to help his grandfather, he has his own problems with family and business. Stopping by the Corner Pocket to see his old friend, Jake, he meets Molly.
The chemistry of these two is undisputable, but it is a sexy slow build to smoldering hot. Their stimulating sassy banter, the sexual tension and sweet moments are some of the best parts of their story.
I highly recommend this book.

I Truly loved every second of this book! I couldn't put it down to the point I read till 4 or 5 in the morning! I loved Saylor & Rhett's adorable nicknames they gave each other; Whiskey & Short Stack! Saylor is someone who had very little in her life, yet is strong! I admire her for moving forward with her life no matter what it threw her way! I dragged out the ending because I wasn't ready to finish it! This is the first of many favorites 2018 has brought! People such as Molly. Jake, Rhett & his family are truly one of a kind! They're good, kind-hearted, loving people! #HeyWhiskey #ShortStack #SaylorandRhett #JakeandMolly

Hey, Whiskey by Kaylee Ryan is my favorite book written by Ms. Ryan to date. It is touching, heartwarming, sexy, romantic, at times angsty and yet humorous in the right places. I could go on but I want to tell you about the wonderful characters in this story. They are so likeable and down to earth. I feel like they could be people I grew up with or friends I have known pretty much all my life.
The story starts with Saylor who finds out that her boyfriend of 4 years is cheating on her; and she finds out at the worst possible time – after she has moved clear across the country to live with her ex and after she finds out he is cheating, she has nowhere to live and no job since she was working for her cheating ex’s family and cannot stay working for them now. As she goes into a bar to drink her sorrows, she meets the awesome Molly and Jake. They own a bar Corner Pocket and they end up offering her a job and a place to stay. I have to tell you, I adored Molly and Jake… Across the country we also meet Rhett..sexy Rhett. He should be living his dreams but he really isn’t. I don’t want to give too much away about Rhett but Rhett knows Jake. Rhett ends up coming back home to take care of his ailing grandfather. And this is where I will leave off and say you must read this story. It is a story about 2nd chances, of redemption and of new love. It is also of self-discovery, of finding out who you are and what you are capable of. When coming to Saylor, she was a sweetheart..she was kind, sweet and could be sassy when the times called for it. Oh and Rhett, what can I say about Rhett? He was a sexy one. He was the man who you thought had it all but he truly didn’t have the one thing he was missing. This story will show you what he was missing and then you will see him work hard to get that. Rhett was humorous, sexy, and could be cocky at times. I really loved how Ms. Ryan paired up Rhett and Saylor together. They made such a fantastic couple- Together they were off the charts. This was a fabulous friends to lovers story. Their story definitely gives all the FEELS. This is a definite MUST read so take a journey with these two.

My Rating: 4.7 stars *****

"That blush of yours could bring a man to his knees."

This. This novel right here. This is the Kaylee Ryan novel I have been longing for! Forewarning to all the Kaylee Ryan fans, Hey, Whiskey is not her normal M.O. Not saying that it wasn't laced with her signature writing style we all know and love because it was, but with this novel, she flipped a switch and turned up the heat. It's sexier, it's sweeter, it burns hotter than her other books, and it's her naughtiest novel to date.

Rhett Baxter is bad for a girl's heart with his sexy smirk, sarcastic remarks, cocky confidence, and swoon-worthy one-liners; he could make any woman go weak at the knees. Saylor was a strong-willed woman with a sassy mouth that dishes it out just as easily as Rhett. Their banter was hot, their sexual tension was pulse-pounding, and their love was heart-melting.

And, can I just say that I love that this wasn't an instant love story? Because I hate insta-love stories. And even though Rhett and Saylor's first interaction was filled with intense chemistry and attraction, both were guarded and suspicious of the other's motives. They danced around their attraction for chapters which led to the best ache only slow-burning angst can deliver. Kaylee paced their relationship perfectly; enemies to friends to lovers, it was toe-curling good. BUY IT NOW!!

Received an ARC at no cost to author..Guys!!! Grab this book. I truly enjoyed it. This is a kind of second chance novel featuring Saylor and Rhett. It was funny, hot, romantic and heartwarming. Saylor is starting her life over after discovering her dirtbag cheating ex boyfriend, she loses her job because she did the worst thing she could have done, she was working for his family. While starting over she bumps into her long ago ex Rhett, and the story takes off. I can't give you more because I want you to pick it up, it is great and you will be happy you did. Enjoy!

Very slow development where Rhett and Saylor keep on bantering back and forth. Saylor broke up with her 3 years boyfriend who has been cheating on her for six months. Pete, the asshole told his sidekick was pregnant so he gotta marry her.
Saylor move out and works at a pub.
They were attracted to each other.
One day, Rhett’s grandpa asked him to go to a conference at Vegas. He went with Saylor. They had fun and apparently got married inebriated.
They keep on fucking each other though both agreed to submit the divorce papers.
They got divorced and remarried after that. HEA

I can't think of how I stumbled across this book but I really liked it. The characters in this book are so real, all of them. Saylor is pretty heartbroken at the start of the book for several reasons, but she seems to land on her feet pushing herself forward. Rhett has it all when he meets Saylor and she isn't interested. She mets and makes friends with Jake and Molly- friends of Jake who pretty much take her into their family. Rhett's family especially his grandfather is an AWESOME fellow. I just kinda fell in love with this book and all the wonderful people.
