Rate this book
Mania: A mental illness consisting of episodes of profound excitement, euphoria, delusions, and over-activity.

I deal with highs and lows, but somehow, I end up making the best of it.
My family disowned me, but family is the reason why I’m in Vegas.
Even with my inability to think straight, I end up being in charge of a bunch of runaway mental patients.
Control doesn’t exist if someone is fighting their mind. We have to break in order to mend.
Constantly.
Hence, The Asylum.
A sanctuary for lost causes.
Where crazy can roam free, and compulsions can be let loose.
My nephew says as long as it stays at The Asylum, we won’t have problems.
What fun would it be if problems didn’t exist?

And my problem is in the shape of a dancer, twirling on the front lawn in the middle of the night.
Her laughter is music.
Her beauty is timeless.
And my mania has kicked in overdrive.
When I’m obsessed with something, it’s more than what the normal person feels.
If I can’t have her, no one can.
If I can’t have her, I’ll die.
And I’ll make sure she’ll die too.
I’m a lunatic who has found the living breathing version of his mania.

... A maddening love.

This is pure madness. After the previous heavy books I've read, I decided to try this one and ended up regretting nothing. I am currently writing this review chuckling at the memory of what I've just read. I mean, most of the characters in the story needed medical prescriptions, but the way the author treated them with such easiness and facile execution cracked me up. This book was lacking in several departments but I could not hide the most important fact that it offered me a great time.

Note: This is a dark romance.

“We aren’t like other people. We feel differently from everyone else. We are more. In every way. We feel more. We love more. We hate more. Everything is more when it comes to people like us ..."

Lunatic is the first book in the Ruthless Asylum series.

The cliffhanger killed me from laughter. Jessica is my girl and what she did at the ending made me a lifelong fan. Honestly speaking, I liked the story but I couldn't take the characters seriously because I found them pretty shallow if you based on the fact that they have mental health issues. I know, that doesn't really make sense. But let me explain. The hero has mania. The heroine has split personality disorder. And the other characters have mental illnesses. These characters needed comprehensive treatment and depth but I think the author wrote them in a superficial and nonrealistic manner.

What we have here was insta love, insta lust, insta thoughts to marry, insta plans to have children, insta everything. But they were all understandable to me because the main characters have mental issues. You can't expect them to think and act like normal people, right?

I gave it four stars because I loved the concept of the story. I adored the characters. They have great chemistry and palpable sexual tension. And I think I have a thing for insanities. My only two inputs would be more personal development with the main characters and more depth with their relationship. Hopefully, I will see a lot of improvements on the next one.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. There's some serious violence and sexual scenes from this book that is not for everyone. If you feel like you will enjoy it, give it a try. It's free. Available on Kindle Unlimited.

Trigger Warning: Vivid depiction of murder.

I feel like I need to have my head examined. What was that? Everyone is crazy! I have no clue how the rest of the story is going to pan out but I can tell you this much: almost everyone needs to be on some type of meds!

Zain has spent most of his life in an mental institution and that’s all he’s has ever known. It’s been thirty five years since he’s seen the outside world in full view and he’s now reached his limit. He wants a chance to have a real life and one that doesn’t involve a padded room. With a plan and help from the outside, Zain finally makes it into the real world but not before bringing along some of his own friends. Some unstable and misunderstood friends. Will they all be able to survive? What happens when imagination and reality collides?

original

Upon reading the blurb, I still had no clue what I was getting myself into with this book because it was somewhat vague and I was more than ok with that. After reading this, I’m very curious to see what’s going to happen next with most of these characters but at the same time I feel like I’m missing a lot more. I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t read anything from this author before and she has other characters from her previous MC series, or the fact that everything felt rushed and was moving too fast for me.

I needed certain things to be slowed down so we could really get into the heart of things but the time I blinked, it was all over. I’m really hoping that for the next book, the author delves more into Zain’s time in the institution back then and also on his journey with adjusting to the outside world. Aside from that, I think that this series is off to a promising start and I’m looking forward to see what this author is going to do with everyone’s storyline.

Style: Dark Bad Boy Romance
Story: 3/5
Enjoyment: 3/5
Dark Level: 3/5
Sexual: OK
Triggers: Yes
Male: Dark, Intense & Crazy
Series: Book 1 (Cliffhanger)
Pages: 171
Kindle Unlimited: Yes

STORY:
I feel crazy just reading this book. It’s like one flew over the koo koo nest version 3.0. I have to admit, reading the blurb I was a bit confused, but it now makes sense. I am curious to know the thought process of the author at the time of writing this book. Not in a bad way but my curiosity is peaked with all the different characters and why she wanted to go this route. Without giving anything away, it’s like Zain got 2 for the price of one. The storyline was unusual, dark and intense. I did say above that this could have triggers and that depends on the reader and how they view mental illness. Because this story was different for me, I was split. It’s not bad, it’s almost Iike I had to submerge myself completely in the story and characters to get a feel as it was that different for me.

ENJOYMENT / CHEMISTRY:
Zain is likable as he is the opening of this story. He was interesting and his kind of crazy looks good on him. I can’t say much on the other main character, as I would like the reader to experience what we all did.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS
The secondary characters are interesting as well. Goldie sticks out to me not sure why, but she did. I have not real all of KL’s books, but I believe there are characters in there from previous books.

Overall, not bad, but it definitely won’t be for everyone. I can honestly say, this is really different and you will need an open mind to read this.

***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read and hope this review was helpful.

To say that I'm obsessed with this wiritng duo is putting it mildly -- I am on a whole other level right now. I have unconditionally loved the Ruthless men, but this new series is just phenomenal! I feel like mental illnesses are usually glossed over, both in life and books, especially romances, so it was so nice to read about those who have their own struggles, but you can relate to them so easily. These ladies in no way shape or form villianized the characters here, and just made them so *real*.

Zain has mania, and has spent the past THIRTY FIVE years locked up in cell. That prologue destroyed my heart, so I was rooting at the top of my lungs when he broke free of his chains, and rescued his closest friends. If you've read the Ruthless Kings series, then you know it was revealed that Zain is Reaper's uncle, so they develop a tenuous yet beautiful relationship. Zain is acclimating himself to how the world is today, as well as trying to keep everyone else he rescued relatively sane, so he definitely has his hands full. And then a blonde hair beauty dances into his life, and he knows he'll never be the same.

Our heroine Chloe is the perfect match for Zain in every way. Not just because she's gorgeous and sweet, but she can connect with him in a way that most people can't. You see, Chloe has a split personality disorder (but I think is actually Disassociate Identity Disorder) so she has two people living inside her body: Chloe who is softer, more docile and quite, and then Jessica, who is very outspoken and brave. She has taken care of Chloe when she just can't, and is hiding an INSANE secret from her that will change the lives of everyone involved. My jaw DROPPED at that revelation. I was seriously speechless!!

The romance between Zain and Chloe/Jessica is very Insta-love like, but it's also very real. Like I said above, these three understand each other in a way that nobody else could, and I loved reading about their journey. I can't wait to learn more about these amazing characters and that crazy revelation!!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**

*********************************
I fucking LOVED this book!!!! Ahhh, I don't know what to write just yet since I don't want to spoil it, and the heroine is a huge spoiler herself. All i can say right now is to set back and enjoy the ride!! I'm ready to be committed myself with Zain and the others!!

**Full RTC once I calm myself! I'm so obsessed with this writing duo!

Zain’s story is in one word INTENSE! It’s definitely not for the faint of heart but I was hooked! There’s so much pain, raw emotion and heartache I was on the edge of my seat. Definitely recommend if you like your stories dark as night.

HEY! YEAH, YOU! IN THE BACK. IF YOU’RE NEW, WALK AWAY. RUN.

Listen, if you know nothing about this author’s style and/or voice or how she tells a story, I don’t suggest you start here. For real. If you start here, I can almost guarantee a failed relationship between you and her and that would be a shame. She is quite brilliant with the not so typical stories and characters she decides to gift us. She rarely writes rainbows and gumdrops. Who am I kidding, she never writes that! LOL She is unconventional and unique, and her characters are almost certainly skirting the outside of societal norms. It’s a gift and she is very talented with said gift.

So, about Lunatic specifically. I don’t know what to say to be honest. I’ve read every book in her Ruthless Kings MC series and even I am reeling!

Like *exhale*
I mean
No, nothing…

Okay, so the title LOL that’s apropos
SO MUCH LUNACY!

I’m not sure I would call this story a romance or even a love story, because it doesn’t really fit the conventional mold for those types of stories but there is love in this journey, it just manifests as obsession and infatuation and it’s just bonkers. But it fits. It’s rather perfect for these characters. I think KL Savage is going to turn the reading world upside-down with this series and I am here for all of it!

GO forth with caution and enjoy! I’m not usually one to warn anyone about triggers and whatnot but … do with that information what you will :)

This is the first instalment in the Ruthless Asylum series, but in order to fully enjoy it, you really have to have read the Ruthless MC series. I’ve been reading these in order, and it fits perfectly after the events of Knives.
Wow, do I ever love Zain and Chloe together! They’re absolutely adorably perfect for each other. I won’t spoil anything, but we already know that Zain is bonkers. And it quickly becomes evident that Chloe is perfect for him in every way--body, soul... and mind.
This book was a smidge too short for my liking. Because of this, we only really get to see Zain and Chloe’s relationship blossom. Chloe mentions her parents early in the book, but they’re never mentioned again. This is a low key pet peeve of mine, and while I still loved this book, I needed for the heroine’s backstory to be a little more fleshed out.
Overall, I only give this book 4 stars because it was too short! I needed more of the usual suspense plotline that I’ve come to expect with my KL Savage romances.

It was okay. I really don't like the ending... Chloe/ Jessica was remembering of something she did a couple days before and it just ended. All I can guess is it will finish up in another book.

This book is about mental health and what some people ho through. Split personality disorder, manic depressive disorder and several more. How a group of them are all together and helping each other. Reaper is in this book and the main mc is his Uncle.

So I finished Lunatic this morning. My mind is still trying to catch up from what I read! For the love of all things Zain y'all... *fans self repeatedly* The twist and turns in this book leave it almost impossible to give you much without causing a spoiler, and I am NOT about the spoilers! You get a light introduction to the housemates in the Asylum, however the focus of this story is definitely on Zain, his mania and his obsession. This book is not for the weak!

Lunatic is Book #1 of Ruthless Asylum which spins off from K.L. Savage's Ruthless Kings MC Series. While this is a new series, I highly recommend you read the Ruthless Kings series to fully appreciate the characters and storyline as it is definitely intertwined and will make the experience that much more for you.

Oh. My. Wow. Just wow.
Lunatic is the new series within the Ruthless World. While you will see and hear from the Ruthless Kings, this series focuses on Zain and the others that escaped the mental institution. Including, for now, The Groundskeeper.

(We met Zain in A Ruthless Christmas. He is the long lost Uncle of Reaper.)

Zain is working to get the Asylum where they all live, liveable and is trying to figure out how they are all going to survive. They don't have jobs, they escaped their previous institution due to the treatment they received. He isn't sure how he is going to keep them all cared for the way they need. Thankfully, Reaper truly believes that you don't walk away from family.

One night, after talking with Reaper, Zain sees every desire he's ever had dancing in the desert. Instantly, he wants everything in his life to be consumed by her and everything in her life to be consumed by him.

This is an insta-love story but unlike any other that you have read. Seeing the way they all interact with each other and what their triggers are is going to be an experience unlike any other.

*You do not have to read the Ruthless Kings series in order to understand and/or follow this book. However, I do recommend it as the characters are all intertwined.

There’s just something about crazy people that I love. Especially in a romance novel. Perhaps it’s because they then seem more human, more flawed than just your everyday fictional character. I think knowing the concept of the book made me bias right from the start because I loved every psychotic moment. After spending 2/3 of his life in an asylum, the hero and some of his ‘cellmate’ pals escape and are trying to forge their own paths. Luckily the hero has a half brother who is in a place to really help them out but even he has no idea what these people are about or capable of 😈 Out of nowhere the heroine spins into his life and there is an instant obsession that takes over him. To the point where he even vows to kill her if she doesn’t want him, then vows to kill himself. The sick and twisted romance 😍😍 Between her multiple personality disorder and his mania these two are a match made in heaven hell. I actually really loved how the author handled her MPD especially where the hero was concerned. He loved both sides of her fiercely and understood her in ways most could not. I really loved the book and I can’t wait to see what’s next in the series. It certainly won’t be for everyone but if you are f*cked up in the head and like your characters the same way, this is for you, just be warned the end comes far too quickly 😘

I liked this one a lot! One of the best ones.
I usually love books with this trope in it 💜.
I loved Zain , and i loved the beginning of the story but i didn't like how fast and rushed the book went when Chloe/Jessica came around. I still enjoyed the read but i really wished to have a little more connection first, but at the same time in this case we have mental issues in the play so i can get that and as much as i love this topic i usually avoid when there is a MC with multiple personality's but in this case the author played it well, i liked how Zain handle that, let's say that i love Chloe (main persomality) and i dislike Jessica (luckily it's not to much about her but usually hate a h with her character).
Overall? The book was good, and since i read all the books by this author i was already familiar with most of the second characters too. Oh and i liked Reaper and Zain reconnecting . Can't wait for the next book since this is a cliffy.

Wow what a way to start a new month. I loved this from page one until the last. The characters were amazing and the story was fun. I loved Chloe/Jessica and Zaine. Reaper was also cool. One of my main problems was the way it ended, not that it was bad but I wasn't expecting it and I didn't want it to end.

There's one word that describes Lunatic perfectly - MANIC.

I freaking loved this book! A wild, erotic, supercharged story of passion, sexual arousal and desire, the need for acceptance, gut-wrenching longing, and the all-consuming power of lust and possession.

It's far too rare that a book shows the reality of life with a mental illness. It's been said that crazy is as crazy does . . . but how does it begin? How does it affect the relationships and life of a person who is bi-polar? OCD? Schizophrenic? When do the lines blur between right and wrong?

Exceptionally well-crafted and written, unique, and STEAMY.

If you read nothing else this year, dive into the unexpected, wild, and carnal story of Lunatic. But wait . . . is it only about one such individual? Or is there more? No spoilers here but this is a MUST READ. Truly fascinating and riveting from start to finish. Twists and turns that are unpredictable help fan the flames of obsession as two individuals forge their own path in a harsh and unforgiving world.

Who truly is crazy? I'm not telling . . .

3.75 stars-LUNATIC is the first instalment in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS ASYLUM dark, erotic romance series, a spin off from the author’s RUTHLESS KINGS MC. This is Zain and Chloe/Jessica’s story line.

WARNING: LUNATIC deals with issues of mental illness, and contains graphic scenes that may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Ruthless Kings MC purchased a former asylum in an effort to contain a violent assassin who targeted the members of the MC. With the return of Reaper’s uncle Zain, the asylum will become home to Zain, and a number of former asylum inmates with no place to call home.

Told from three first person perspectives (Zain, Chloe, Jessica) LUNATIC follows the atypical relationship between former asylum inmate Zain, and newcomer Chloe/Jessica. Zain spent thirty-five years in a psychiatric institute, an ‘insane asylum’, having been misdiagnosed and improperly medicated as a child but suffers with severe mood swings and bi-polar disorder, exacerbated by years of abuse and neglect. Forgotten by his family, Zain waits for the opportunity to escape, an opportunity that forces our anti-hero to kill. Upon his run to freedom, at the age of forty-five, Zain finds a home along with several other former ‘inmates’, with the Ruthless Kings MC but their volatile and uncontrolled mental disorders force Zain’s nephew and MC president Reaper, to set up the escapees in their own MC owned hospital asylum. Enter Chloe aka Jessica, the woman with whom Zain will fall instantly and obsessively in love. As Zain struggles to contain his own unstable mood swings, he will quickly discover that Chloe is more than he could ever have imagined.

The relationship between Chloe and Zain is unconventional as Zain’s obsessive and manic need for Chloe is compounded by our heroine’s need to run. Meanwhile, Jessica refuses to remain waiting in the wings, and forces Chloe, on more than one occasion, to to give into Jessica’s control which often over power the more shy and quiet Chloe-in this Zain finds himself falling for two distinct woman who share equally in their disordered compulsion for Zain. The $ex scenes are edgy, erotic and intense, and not without some questionable issues of consent due to the nature of the heroine’s illness.

LUNATIC is a quick read; a dark, gritty and atypical love story-there is no romance only obsession heightened and inflamed by infatuation, mania and mental illness. The premise is unique and unusual for a love story but KL Savage rarely writes commonplace stories- her characters are damaged and broken but in the end, everyone deserves someone to love.

This book, without a doubt, belongs to the ' fucked up 'shelf.

Went into this expecting NOTHING, and came out feeling EVERYTHING.

This is probably one of the most unhealthiest relationships I have ever read and I'm LIVING FOR IT😎😎😎💅💅💅💅

So our lovely Hero broke out of this asylum that he has been in for 35 YEARS, that's right, he has been in there for that long.

When he broke out of the asylum, he also brought his gang of misfits that has their own set of mental illness; depression, OCD, personality disorder.

And the mental illness that our Hero suffers from is Mania.
So when you read this book, you will bear witness to some manic episodes the Hero suffers when problems arise after he meets the heroine

And if you think the heroine would be the sane person in their relationship to tip the balancing scale...I am sorry to disappoint but our heroine suffers from DID- Dissociative Identity Disorder.
So there is Chloe- Her original Personality, and then there is Jessica- Her feisty alter ego.

And this gets a little interesting because our Hero falls in love with her at first sight.

It’s dangerous when a man like me wants so deeply because I don’t have the ability to let go. And I know if she were to ever be mine, I wouldn’t allow her to let go. I’d take her will. I’d take her freedom. I’d take. Until all there was in her world was me. All she could ever want is me.

So you can imagine the intensity the Hero gave off. He knew of her DID and still wants her. He, himself has his problems but that doesn't matter.
EVERYTHING doesn't matter to the Hero because this book is not about promoting HEAlTHY relationship.

So when I say it gets weird, I meant that because of the heroine's DID, when the hero and heroine have sex, it's like sex with 2 different people.
The first time they have sex is with Chloe present and the second time they have sex is with Jessica present

Sex with Jessica is obviously a little rougher than Chloe because Chloe is a more shy and nice personality while Jessica is the rougher and more sultry one.

Since the Hero is not your average Joe, he can love both Jessica and Chloe with the same amount of love. Chloe-the original personality-doesn't get jealous of course because she found someone that could actually accept them.

So is it really cheating if he is having with sex the same person? Just that she has a personality change now and then?🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I am an ADVOCATE for safety in romance books, but even I thought it was hot that the Hero has different sex with 2 different women within the same body.
To me, it's still in the realm of safety.

This is not a book about HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP, the hero and heroine both have SERIOUS issues, but they choose to accept each other as they are then changing or try to be healthy in the conventional sense

So if y'all don't like to read about a TOXIC relationship, I highly suggest u to skip this book

This was…. different

Chloe has DID or multiple personality disorder. There’s Chloe, the original who is the typical good/ innocent girl. Then there’s Jessica, the bad girl/ party girl/ will kill their therapist because Chloe is in love with him but she saw him with his wife and because Chloe is heartbroken, Jessica will kill him.

Yeah, that probably didn’t make any sense.

Zain suffers with mania episodes. He broke out of the asylum which he’s been in since he was ten years old. He’s now 45. Chloe is in her twenties i believe.

Zain is obsessed with Chloe and Jessica from the second he met them. Zain accepts both for who they are and loves them. Jessica is obsessed with Zain too because no one has ever shown her that type of love before and Chloe? She falls madly in love easily, and is happy because Zain accepted her for who she is and accepted Jessica.

Quotes:

“Just like Chloe, I’m a virgin too. Being locked up in a mental institution doesn’t give a man many opportunities to roam around and have sex.
I tried sneaking away with a patient or two, but I always got caught, tased, then thrown back in my room. Yeah, it isn’t like I announce that I’ve never had sex. I’m a grown fucking man, but I’m not about to do it now. Circumstance is everything, and I haven’t been in the time or place to give in to my desires.”

“Are you kidding? Best first kiss of my life.”
Hero says this. He never kissed anyone before.

“She isn’t a piece of ass. She’s my forever. Do you understand me?!”

Safety info:

Virgin H/ virgin-ish h. Chloe (body owner) has never kissed anyone and is a virgin but Jessica (who shares Chloe’s body) isn’t a virgin so there is no hymen to break.
No OM/OW drama: Chloe is in love with her therapist and is dealing with the heartbreak of seeing him with another woman.
No condoms, birth control or babies

I’ve honestly never read a book quite like this. I’m speechless. It was fantastic. Lunatic is a spin-off of the Ruthless Kings series and could be read as a standalone but you’ll get more enjoyment if you read the entire series leading up to this book.
Zain is the uncle of the president of the RKMC and has spent almost his entire life in an asylum. When he sees a beautiful dancer he becomes obsessed. I don’t want to give to much away because you really need to read the story without spoilers. Chloe/ Jessica is one of the most unique characters I’ve ever read.

Holy twisty turvy story! We meet Zain from a previous book and come to find out he is related to the Ruthless MC in a very unexpected way. The way they are back in each other’s lives is brought up in previous books and I highly recommend reading this series in order, then read this one as it will make so much more sense and you will not get any spoilers.
So Lunatic is the introduction to the Ruthless Asylum and it takes you on an intense journey of trying to understand and see these characters grow. With Zain, there are a lot of moments that your heart will ache and you will want to make it better. But his protective nature of those who he is with and takes care of will make you want to comfort and be there for him. Even when things implode and you are mind blown with how it all comes into play with Chloe. It is just jaw dropping twists that will have you devouring each word that is written. I could not get enough and I am dying to know more about this group!

3.5 Stars-A Confusing Start

K.L. Savage gives her readers a warp speed introduction to the characters of Ruthless Asylum. Ruthless, as in the spin off from her MC series Ruthless Kings, which I haven't read yet. The Asylum is an interesting bunch of characters that I'm sure we'll get to know better.

Zain is the uncle to a Ruthless King and has lived in a different world than most for thirty five years. At his first chance to escape that life, he does, with a handful of friends as interesting as him. I felt Zain was a strong lead character that got diluted as his story went on, in that we didn't really delve into what made him him, but him as an adult now fixated on another. Same with his fixation, Chloe, she is another complicated character that was skated over and felt like she just was and we were to take it at face value.

K.L. Savage takes on a very heavy topic, while skirting a lot of detail which made what could have been a great story felt flippant when reading. There is a lot of insta, as well as a lot of questions that don't get answered. The book is good, albeit rushed in numerous ways. While I haven't read the Ruthless Kings, I do see each book is a character spin off and if the Asylum series is going in that direction, I would have liked way more set up for the characters. Ruthless Asylum reads as a standalone with King's cameos that seemed to fit in nicely. I'm definitely on the fence about reading the next one.

Well this book was VERY different . I’m not shy to a dark romance , but this takes on a whole different tone. Zane and Chloe/ Jessica are in one word , explosive . There is nobody else more perfect for one another than the other . They are damaged from their pasts, and totally accept and get one another like nobody else ever could .
There’s not much else I can describe without ruining the story or repeating what the synopsis includes.
I probably wouldn’t choose to read some thing along these lines after the sequel again, but it was very well written. It was a good story. Just a difficult topic, which I understand it was meant to be.
See synopsis below for full description.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was pulled right into this story. The story is kind of crazy.

This is a spinoff of the Ruthless Kings MC series so if you want those books are listed here I would recommend reading those books(s) first:
Reaper (Ruthless Kings MC, #1)
Boomer (Ruthless Kings MC, #2)
Tool (Ruthless Kings MC, #3)
Poodle (Ruthless Kings MC #4)
Skirt (Ruthless Kings MC #5)
Pirate (Ruthless Kings MC #6)
Doc (Ruthless Kings MC #7)
Tongue (Ruthless Kings MC #8)
Knives (Ruthless Kings MC #9)

This story is about Zain who is an Uncle to one of the Ruthless Kings from the series listed above. Zain lives a completely different life then the MC but when he has a chance to leave those walls of that life he does. Only he does not leave it alone. He takes a few colorful characters with him and also one he wants for himself. He has an obsession and will do anything to keep that person for himself. The book has a lot going on and if you didn’t read the other series you might not understand the character mindsets and how they work together on assumption and buildup.

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Lunatic - Zain's story is a bittersweet read. Oh boy did my heart break for him and everything he went through growing up. With an uncaring and un-supportive family as well as being locking away for majority of his life so no wonder he has the problems he has. Yes he had some mental health issues (mania) and anxieties but i think if he had a caring family to begin with he would have been able to cope better. Zain's background story was just so sad. The tentative relationship with him and Reaper was sweet though. In his way i think Reaper genuinely wants to help him. Throw into the mix Chloe/Jessica. A woman with split personalities. Chloe being the sweet and shy one. Whereas Jessica is loud, in your face and seductive. The mixture of them and Zain is explosive and extremely steamy. Plus dark in places especially with that ending (my jaw literally hit the floor with that!!!). Still with all their issues i couldnt help but like this book. It was a great addition to Ruthless series. I cant wait for more books to come in the Asylum series

I absolutely love this spinoff series!! We get to look inside the people of The Asylum and we are in for a crazy ride! With this first story we get to delve in the mind of Zain. From a young age Zain knew they were something different about him but all he wanted was to be treated like a normal person. But that just wasn’t in the cards for him, he was sent to an institution and abandoned there. 30 years later he broke out taking some of his friends with him. They end up living in an asylum, voluntarily, but then the Ruthless Kings MC purchase the building because Zain is related to their Prez. When Zain meets Chloe he becomes instantly obsessed. He wants to protect, possess and drown in her but she comes with her own set of issues. Will they balance each other‘s crazy out? I can’t wait for part two of Zain and Chloe‘s story!!

Manic!
This book had my mind in a tornado from the first page. It had me feeling all of Zain's emotions. I was shocked, laughed, and completely taken up in the whirlwind of K.L's extremely well written characters in what had to be a massive challenge.
They all had me in a vice so tight, I was unable to put it down. You also get to meet more of the residents of The Asylum and a little bit of their stories.

This is a new series within the Ruthless Underground.
Although you do not HAVE to read The Ruthless Kings MC, it is highly recommended, as this book features some of the characters in the series, and there are intertwined parts that will make more sense to you.

I only have one more thing to add, you will not be the same after reading Lunatic!
