Risky: Adventures in Love, Book 2 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.4 out of 5 stars 5,769 ratings

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds comes a bittersweet romance about the risks and rewards of falling in love.

Everly never expected to move back in with her parents, and she definitely didn’t expect to do so as a single mother. But with the father of her son suddenly out of the picture, she’s had to make some adjustments to her plans.

Now Everly has one priority: to make a life for herself and her boy. And Blake, her sometimes infuriating but admittedly handsome employer at Live Life Adventures, doesn’t factor into her future as anything more than her boss.

But it seems the guy who’s about as friendly as a grizzly bear has a soft spot for her and her son...and the more time she spends with him, the more difficult it is to remember why giving in to the chemistry between them is a bad idea.

Now, with their future on the line, they’ll have to decide if love is a risk worth taking.

BOOKWORM REVIEW: Risky by Aurora Rose Reynolds
5 out of 5 stars
BOOKWORM REVIEW: Risky by Aurora Rose Reynolds
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 STEAM: 🔥🔥🔥 Everly has moved back home to be closer to family. After the father of her ten-month-old Sampson refuses to be involved with their son, she went back to her parents to get some support and to surround little Sam with the love he deserves. What she did not anticipate is falling for one of her bosses at her new job with Life Adventures, and she definitely did not expect to be falling for the grumpy one, much less anyone at all this soon. Blake will even admit that he has been cantankerous. But with a small business to manage and other things on his mind, who could really blame him? Now this woman barges into his work and his life and his mind. Could these two get past their own problems to find their happily ever after? This was a nice change of pace from Rushed (Book 1). Whereas that one was full of fun interactions and suspense, Book Two brings the angst and drama. I love how these two bring out the best in each other as they go through this journey of individual self-discovery. Aurora Rose Reynolds did a great job of balancing the struggles of single parenthood with finding love. Sampson playing a more prominent role was well done and did not take away from the romance. The spice is very much present, though this is a slow burn. Reynolds makes the wait worth our while with Blake and Everly's chemistry. This can be read as a standalone, but characters from Book 1 do make a significant appearance. I definitely recommend going back to get the full experience. The ensemble cast in this book universe is fantastic. I love that Aurora Rose Reynolds builds a strong, loving community around her main characters. The countdown for Book 3 has officially begun, and I cannot wait to read Maverick's story.

WOW! I wasn’t aware that anyone’s story could top Tanner and Cybil’s story, but clearly, I was wrong on so many counts! Aurora Rose Reynolds stole my heart with Blake, Everly, and baby Sampson’s story! I’m still sitting here with a huge grin on my face and a heart full of happiness.

Let’s start with Blake. I loved the fact that he was the grumpy personality to Everly’s sunshine personality. This is a man who was currently going through the motions of life with the weight of the world on his shoulder. The motions of work, family time, and sleep was on an endless loop. Until Everly and baby Sampson came into the picture. I honestly think the moments between Blake and Sampson were my absolute favorite. This man was made to be a father and from the moment Blake set eyes on Sam the fatherly vibes set in. Gah! There’s nothing sexier than a man who choses to step into the father role from the start, no questions asked.

Then we have Everly. This woman gets the mother of the year award in the romance world! I loved the fact that she was a mother first, her son was her main priority. The way she cared for and doted on Sampson brought tears to my eyes. She was not only caring and nurturing, but she was also fiercely protective and independent when it came to raising her son. I loved every facet of her character. I don’t think any heroine to come in this series will top my love for Everly’s character.

Now let’s talk about  the instant ‘Boom-worthy’ chemistry between Everly and Blake. I loved the slow approach with these two, especially given the fact that there is a baby boy’s heart on the line. I loved the fact that they took their relationship slow to the point where it all just came natural. Their friendship merged into a relationship to the point where I knew it was coming but it all felt completely natural like a real life relationship. I guess what I’m saying is I loved the slow relationship build-up.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I not only loved, but also appreciated Everly and Blake’s story. Aurora Rose Reynolds brought the slowburn BOOM and brought it hard. I was a fan from start to finish. So we have another five star read within the Adventures In Love series! As of right now, I’m not sure how ARR is going to top the first two books in the series. All I know is I have a feeling Maverick’s story is going to be pure fire!! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for this man and his happily ever after. He was acting too strange around the ending of Risky for there not to be an epic happily ever after!! EEEK! The more I imagine his story, the more I want Reckless! Is it August yet!?

    No cliffhanger
Standalone though part of a larger series
    Told from both POVs
    Single mom/ boss romance

This was a really sweet love story, which was a bit of a departure from the first book in this series that was way more suspenseful, but I’m here for it!

Everly is a single mom who comes back to her hometown for a fresh start. Part of that fresh start involves a new job, and one of her new bosses just happens to be a grumpy, smoking hot ex military man.

Blake has a lot on his plate, so he has a reason to be grumpy. His reasons only grow when he thinks his best friend has a thing for their new employee, the same employee he himself has a thing for.

Won’t give too much away but let’s just say, sparks fly anytime these two are together, and my ovaries burst each interaction Blake had with Everly’s son. It was just too cute for words!

I do wish there were more chapters from Blake’s POV and I can’t pinpoint why, but it felt like I didn’t get enough of their growing relationship. Wish I had a bit more of that too.

Still a great book though and can’t wait for Maverick’s book!

Risky is the second book in the Adventures in Love series by Aurora Rose Reynolds, but the books can be read as standalone's with no trouble. The series is based on three ex-military men who started a business, Live Life Adventures, together which offers tours in the Montana wilderness. This is Blake and Everly’s story.
Everly returned home as a single mom after her boyfriend wanted nothing to do with her or their son. She must start over and make a new life for herself and her son, Sam. Finding a job working at Live Life Adventures was perfect if she didn’t have to deal with Blake her grumpy boss.
Blake was keeping his dad’s secret from his mother and father and the burden was destroying him. Between keeping secrets and the pressure from the resort, he was grumpier than normal. He didn’t like his partners hiring Everly without consulting him, especially since he was so attracted to her. Can he keep his distance from Everly and her cute son Sam or will he give into his attraction and make her his?
I have really enjoyed this series and I think this is my favorite so far. I always love a good grumpy hero and Blake fulfilled that character role perfectly. I loved watching his soft side come out in his interactions with Sam. It was just too adorable. I cannot wait for Mav’s book which will be next.

Risky by Aurora Rose Reynolds’s is the 2nd book in the adventures in love series that I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of.
It is a single mom, grumpy/sunshine contemporary romance and I absolutely loved it.
Our FMC single mom Everly moves back to her parents house after the father of her son is out of the picture. After getting a job at Live Life Adventures she meets our MMC Blake who is one of the owners.

I really liked Everly I thought she was a great female lead and had a lot of qualities I personally love in a FMC. She was sweet, sassy, strong and loving.

Blake, oooohhh boy did I love Blake. He is officially on my list of favourite book boyfriends. I loved everything about him, which is shocking cause in the first book I thought he was a real jerk. In Risky getting to be inside his head you get to understand a lot more of why he was the way he was. I love Aurora Rose Reynolds’s style of men she writes. The bossy alphas with a soft spot for their women and family’s, I am here for it.

I loved these two together I thought they complimented each other very well and they had great chemistry. I’m talking of the charts chemistry.

I loved this book from start to finish, I had a lot of trouble putting it down. I can’t wait to read Mavericks story and to catch up on all the characters I’ve grown to love. If you’re looking for a sweet romance read I would definitely give this one a read.
