Tuesday

Each day I long for the forbidden.

Dreams like seeds planted in poor soil.

My future has been sown since I was young,

and now the man I’ve fallen for is off-limits.

Not that he’d give me the time of day.

My brother’s best friend puts out fires by day,

and ignites unfamiliar feelings by night.

How do I pluck these desires before they overtake me?

I’m choosing to stay positive. Live joyfully, like a sunflower.

If only someone like Alex could adore me as I do my faithful blossoms.

Alex

My life is nearly perfect.

Great job, hot girl, and amazing friends.

So why do I feel off?

I’m not looking for more. And if I was,

the last thing I’m allowed to consider is Tuesday Palmer.

If only she hadn’t put me under a spell

with her bright smile and radiant personality.

But restraint is the name of this game.

I can only look, not touch, this tempting flower.

Even if I’m dying to surrender.

As much as I love LM Fox’s books, this one seemed a little rushed. I love the premise, and I know this was a novella, but I believe it would be better if the characters were fleshed out more and the book was longer. The main character, Tuesday was in a severe car accident and within a few pages she woke up from surgery, found out the extent of her injuries and then it was 3 months later. I hope she expands on this book some more, because I love Tuesday and Alex!! 3.5⭐️

A great best friends little sister romance. Tuesday has crushed on Alex for years but thinks there's no hope for them. He fears what her brother and family would think if he pursued her. What needs to happen for Tuesday and Alex to get their HEA??

I received a copy of the book from the author for an honest, unbiased review.

This book sucked me in from the first page. The chemistry between Alex and Tuesday was so so good. I’m a sucker for a best friend’s sister/ forbidden romance and L.M. did not leave me hanging. The tension was so intense. Alex is such a wonderful guy. I love the touch her and you die vibes and the intense protectiveness he has over Tuesday. I went through so many emotions while reading. I knew I was going to love this book so much. Thank you L.M. for sending me a copy.

A quick read perfect for a day at the pool or at the beach. It is a novella so there was a lot to pack into not many page. Tuesday is a 20yr old nursing student who works at a flower shop part time and volunteers at the same dispatch center as Alex. Her older brother, Ricky, is on his way to med school and her parents are both in the medical field as well. Alex is Ricky’s best friend and who has lived as a bachelor his whole life, never in a stable series relationship. Tuesday is an optimist but struggles to go for what she truly wants, like a career she truly loves or Alex.

At first, it seems like it is completely a one sided crush, but then Tuesday is dancing with another guy and Alex cannot stand another man touching her. I truly enjoyed reading this novella, unfortunately because it was so short a few things felt rushed and there were a few grammatical errors. But overall really liked it and would recommend to anyone looking for something steamy filled with some good tropes. Part of the Wild Blooms series with other authors but you don’t need to read the other books to read this one.

Brother’s best friend gives me that forbidden love trope that I love. I haven’t read a lot of brother’s best friend tropes before but this was a great short read. I didn’t realize that this was a novella… Thinking going in that it was a longer read. The beginning was paced well for it being such a short read. I did feel the ending with the drama and everything felt very rushed, but I’m glad that we got the closure. Overall, cute read. The few spicy scenes gave a good level of spice which is always appreciated. I would definitely like to check out more books by this author in the future! I really enjoyed this one!!

This is such a sweet short story.
Sunflowers and Surrender is a story of Tuesday who is in love with her brother's best friend.
One day Alex (local firefighter) starts noticing her as a beautiful young woman sha has become.
Of course, nothing is easy for a new love in literary fiction :).
There is a little drama and a whole lot of heat.
I received this book as ARC and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The blurb/summary of this had so much promise, unfortunately I feel like I was let down. There are more good reviews than bad on this one, I suppose Booktok is not all knowing. This was a novella so it was expected to be short, sweet and to the point, however if you have a summary that suggests deep meanings and major history, I expect to scratch more than the surface.
If you are looking for a very generic with perfect characters, only slightly spicy romance, this is a novella to read. If you like your books to make you feel what the characters are going through, look into their minds and experience their joy or sadness with them, then this book is not for you.

Tuesday's future "has been sown since she was young," from every interaction the character has with her parents (who gift her a cruise for her birthday BTW) I never had the impression they were overbearing parents who have decided she HAS to do what they say "or else." Not on conversation between them was surrounding her choices in career, college major or future. In fact her mother says to her "I'm so glad Tuesday, You work so hard and never give us an ounce of trouble. You deserve this..." That sounds like fictional dream parent/child relationship to me.

Alex is a firefighter and her brother's best friend (and a tow truck driver, and handsome, and perfect. He can communicate his feelings effectively, knows what he wants and a huge di**... yeah, this is a fictional man.

The writing style was basic and surface level. I felt as if I was being walked through the actions of the characters but never feeling what they were feeling. I also noticed that none of the characters had any form of internal conflict (besides the whole, don't sleep with the brother's best friend thing) they made the right choices, said the right things and only once was there an external conflict that made their life difficult in any way. I finished it because it was so short and I figured I could at least give it a full chance to try to impress me.

Tuesday for the last five years has had a crush on her brother Ricky best friend Alex. He is nice and flirts with her, but will not make a move because he is four years older and Ricky would kill him. They keep trying to fight the attraction, but it’s getting harder. Will Alex stop fight the attraction? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Love Tuesday and Alex Great supporting characters. This book has all the feels. This is my first book by this author definitely not my last

Sunflowers and Surrender is the second novella I have read by author L.M. Fox, and it did not disappoint. It follows Tuesday, a 21 year old college student who works at a local florist shop, and Alex, a local firefighter and her brother’s best friend. As the story builds their secret longing for each other becomes impossible to ignore, leading them to choose between suffering apart or surrendering to their feelings.

I loved this novella. While it’s short, it includes a well written and executed story with a plot that will have you invested from the very start. I selfishly wished it was longer, but I never felt like I was missing out plot wise. It could be considered a slow burn (based on the length and when in the book things start to heat up), and the build up in the first half of the book is worth the wait.

It is always refreshing when you find an author who is able to truly give each character their own voice when using a first person point of view. I truly appreciated that Fox is able to effectively create a character’s narrative without resorting to breaking the fourth wall by having them make comments directed at the reader. It means I was able to truly get lost in the story without having anything distract me from what was unfolding on the page. It makes the whole reading experience that much more enjoyable, and I look forward to reading more of her work.

When reading I couldn’t help but truly start to care about the characters in this book. They’re incredibly well crafted, even those in a supporting role. At the heart of the story though is the main couple, and by the time things start to heat up I was truly rooting for them. It made that moment in the book when they finally surrender to their feelings that much sweeter, and incredibly sexy.

I loved this novella. It’s a great short read that you can finish in a day. It’s perfect for the pool or the beach, or, as we head towards fall, getting cozy with a cup of hot chocolate. Definitely a 5 out 5 for me and the spicy was perfect for the length. Definitely check this out if you want a short romantic read that packs the punch of a full length novel.

The thing about novellas is that they can often come off as too short because they are rushed. Its as if the author has a subject and a number of words they can't go over and it shows. Thank goodness we the reader have a pro in author L.M. Fox here.

Most of the characters introduced to the reader in the story already know each other, so there is a casual feel. Tuesday's so young, and to hear her inner monologue talk about her parents insistence that she go to college for something she didn't want to do was heartbreaking. But meeting Alex and "seeing" them together was pure chemistry! Alex's feelings were magic.

"Yet any hope of fighting this is pointless. No kiss has ever felt like this. All that came before was merely a means to an end. Foreplay to get what I really wanted. But this kiss with Tuesday. It’s intoxicating. She tastes of chocolate, sunshine, and surrender. I could spend eternity kissing this sweet girl. This sweet, forbidden girl."

And Author Fox just has this dreamy way of expressing love that's building:

"Once I’m seated, he steps up and buckles me in. The smell of diesel fuel is replaced by an earthy, masculine scent that has me swooning as it envelopes me. It’s so him. As the metallic click of the seatbelt snaps into place, my eyes flick up to meet his. He tucks a damp tendril of hair behind my ear with his snow-covered glove. The action makes me jump, but I’m again unsure if it’s the connection with the cold mitt or him that’s causing me to be so jittery."

There are a few things I really loved. Author Fox didn't wait until the end for their conflict to erupt. Alex was afraid Tuesday's brother would be angry but the story didn't linger too much on this. The story is expertly edited. At the end not only is there a link to a must see bonus scene, but Author Fox tells where some of the characters are from in other books! This immediately made me go to those books and make sure I either bought them or had them on my TBR.

This is the perfect story that wraps around you and holds you warm and tight. You will love these characters and you will love this author.

Can you imagine watching the man that you want, be with another woman? Having him as your brother's best friend and basically a part of your family and not being able to voice your feelings. Ms. Fox gives us just that storyline in Sunflowers and Surrender. This book had me hooked right from the start. The hope that the man you have loved for years just might see you as a strong and beautiful woman, not the friend's little sister.
Tuesday and Alex have known one another for years and she has always had an attraction to him but he is always out of reach, that forbidden man that you can't have. Alex has always seen Tuesday for who she really is, a caring, kind and beautiful person that he knows is one that he cannot have. Mixed signals are given, and hopes are built but will they be able to cross over that line? When they do finally express their feelings, their chemistry is off the charts. But what about her brother? How will he feel? When there is an accident is when all the secrets come to the surface. This is when you really start to love Alex more and more. (You will have to read the book to find out why.)
The story is beautifully written, the characters are relatable, and the storyline is one that I absolutely loved, I mean who doesn't love a brother's best friend with a little age gap as well romance. Being a novella I was able to finish it in one sitting but I think that if it was a full-length book, there was no way that I would have been able to put it down. A definite must-read.

This book literally sucked me in in the first 3 pages. Tuesday is your run of the mill sweetie who has a crush on her big brothers bestie. And he’s older! (Not by much, not a huge age gap. Don’t get excited lol) Tuesday is a super sweet girl with dreams and aspersions of her own, she doesn’t want to follow the family work tradition like her big brother but she’s also afraid to disappoint dear ol mom and dad. Alex is big brothers best friend and has a little bit of a playboy reputation but the family treats him as if he’s their own. And he loves that until he wants to be more than Tuesdays brothers best friend. This story was an overall joy to read and I am so glad I did! The characters are adorable and each one you will love for their own special reasons. It’s also an interconnected standalone so some of the other characters you’ll get to meet in other books (Alex made his first appearance in moonshot). Anywho, there’s some sneaking around, a little bit of spice, some all in your feels (there’s a tragedy) and a genuine love story! Let’s not forget it’s one of my absolute favorite tropes…. Brothers best friend *wink* This book is an absolute must read! I enjoyed every second of it. It literally played like a movie in my head. *chefs kiss* Only thing that would have made it better is if it were longer. I totally wasn’t done with Alex and Tuesday!

I fell in love with LM Fox’s books a while ago and love that she always portrays someone in the medical field. Layla didn’t disappoint with this book. It was a slow burn and such a quick read. Tuesday is expected to follow in her parents footsteps in the medical field and become a nurse. Not only is she attending school, she works at Cygnature Blooms which she loves and volunteers with the local EMT. She’s lived a sheltered life and her brother is very protective of her. But she’s been in love with her brothers best friend Alex who’s 5 years older than her and also a firefighter. For her 21st birthday her parents gift her a a family cruise, Alex and his girlfriend included. I absolutely loved their interactions in the cruise. Tuesday just wants to let loose and have fun while Alex is there to watch over her. They end one night with a hot kiss and she doesn’t see him again. Alex is conflicted with his feelings for Tuesday knowing that she’s off limits. But the gala brings them together, they just have to keep it a secret until her brother leaves for medical school. But their plans are cut short when they both respond to a traffic accident and the unthinkable happens. I love how her family was accepting of them in the time of tragedy, and I loved that Alex stayed by Tuesday’s side during recovery. A beautiful story.

Sunflowers and Surrender is a cute, brother’s best friend/best friend’s little sister trope. This easy read captures the essence of youthful emotions and the complexities of relationships, weaving a tale of self-discovery and healing.

The story revolves around Tuesday and Alex, who find themselves in a web of emotions when they realize they have deep, reciprocated feelings for one another. The plot takes an unexpected turn when a potentially life-altering accident befalls Tuesday forcing Alex to face Tuesday’s family and come clean about his love for Tuesday.

This is my second book by L.M Fox. Her writing style is fluid, making it an easy read for those seeking a fast, light hearted romance. The book has a good balance of lighthearted moments, emotional revelations, and dramatic events. The plot was somewhat predictable, but I mean, if you're an avid romance reader you already know that lol.

Since it was a novella, the characters were slightly undeveloped, but that’s what usually comes with the territory of novellas so I wasn’t mad about it. Overall, I really liked Alex’s character and his nickname for Tuesday “Sunny T” and “Sunflower” were just the sweetest. While it may not break new ground in terms of originality, Sunflowers and Surrender offers a satisfying journey of self-discovery, healing and the triumph of love.

"She tastes of chocolate, sunshine and surrender. I could spend eternity kissing this sweet girl. This sweet, forbidden girl."

After reading some dark thrillers, the sweet sexy Sunflowers And Surrender by consummate romance author L.M.Fox was the perfect cleansing palette to clear my mind and bring a smile to my heart.

It's a simple story but sometimes you just want to enjoy the journey, the sexiness, the alpha protectiveness of handsome firefighter Alex trying to deny his attraction to his best friend's sweet kind naive little sister Tuesday. The age gap is small. He's 26, she's 21 but has no real life experience.

Her parents and brother are in the medical field so she's studying to be a nurse but her heart's not in it. She loves her hidden part time job at the florist but doesn't want to disappoint anyone. It takes an almost tragedy for her to find her voice and Alex to make his choice.

At a 132 pages this short novel is part of the Wild Bloom series but very much a standalone. I read it in a couple of hours but I smiled all day remembering the hotness of Alex, the adorableness of Tuesday and just the contentment of surrendering to a love blooming romance like a sunshine sunflower.

This is a great quick filler read. I’ve not read the other books in this series but it doesn’t seem necessary at all. You could start anywhere or pick the one that sounds most enticing to you.

I love a good forbidden moment and Alex and Tuesday are having one. Alex is the brother’s best friend and Tuesday is simply the little sister who has always loved him.

I’m not usually a fan of the brother’s best friend, it’s just too over done for me. But this was an exception. I like Tuesday and her little flower shop. Alex is definitely the fun and flirty guy but he has a natural sweetness towards Tuesday that I enjoyed.

The climax and ending were okay to me.
It’s not quite what I expected and it was done well but it’s just okay to me. That’s a completely personal preference. And the same with the spice, what was there was good but I wanted so much more. But I also read a TON of spice and my standards are extreme at this point.

But I would think this is a great book and series to enjoy in between long emotional books or during a burnout. Worth picking up.

•Read this book if you enjoy best friends little sister and touch her and you die. Tuesday has had feelings for Alex for years and believes there is no hope for them because he is her brothers best friend. Their connection is powerful, and Alex is super protective over her!

•"God, yes. I'm so in love with you I can't see straight." I laugh. It feels good to finally tell her.

LM Fox always has my heart when it comes to her books, when I tell you I felt all the forbidden love coming from Alex & Tuesday. It all starts with Tuesday Palmer also known as Sunny T by the handsome Alex, she has had a crush on her brothers best friend for awhile & with there also being an age gap she thought he would never be interested in her. She works at a florist that specializes in specific flowers for specific needs as well as part of the rescue squad on the side, and she is damn good at both job’s especially when she got to college as well. Alexander Bell is a fireman & does have a tow truck on the side, he has always had the hots for his best friends little sister, but used his now girlfriend Ainsley to curve his interest, which lets be honest doesn’t work at all. After some stolen moments on her birthday cruise her family planned for her, things can’t go back to the way they were with the spark that happened between the two of them. My heart broke on the damn interstate & I was reading through the tears. Thank goodness all went well & a full recovery was made because I felt all the pain radiating off that family, beyond thankful Ricky didn’t loose his shit when he found out. Absolutely loved this short read & it pulled on my heart so be ready!

When a book is recommended to me, imma read it. And this one didn’t disappoint! Although, none of LM Fox’s have ever fell flat let’s be honest.

The plot - This is a brother’s best friend, friends to lovers romance. It’s also got forced proximity, and found family. Trigger warning for an accident (no death) so CHRCK YA FUCKIN TRIGGERS PEOPLE. Smut was a 2/5 on the spice scale, so pretty average for contemporary. This is a short, sweet novella (132 pages on Kindle). It’s a HEA in a wider series of interconnected standalones.
This was recommended to me by LM Fox herself and it DIDN’T disappoint. I’m a sucker for first responder romance and this was everything. The fact pace was easy to keep up with, the chemistry was THERE and doing it’s thing. I loved it!

The MC - Tuesday had such a weird name, but she’s mainly referred to as Sunny by Alex, so she gets a pass. She’s a lil naive, a little bitter but when you’ve been pining for a man… I get it. Relatable to a fault.

The male counterpart - Alex is the MMC, the best friend of the brother. He’s got his priorities a little skewed but MAN does he come to his senses when it counts. I loved him in the end, and I’m so glad he saw sense.

4.25 Sunny T Stars! 🌻

Whenever Ms.Fox announces a new book I'm always so happy! I've been looking forward to this one. Once I started it, I had to finish it in one sitting. I really enjoyed this story so much!

Tuesday and Alex's journey pulled me in and didn't let go! These two have been in each others lives for some time as Alex is best friends with Tuesday's brother. What happens when their attraction can no longer be ignored? Can they risk it all together?

I loved how I got right into Tuesday and Alex's story! I adored Tuesday's job at Cygnature Blooms and how relatable she was. Alex had me falling for him and cheering him on to take a chance through my kindle. These two were so caring, especially in their jobs and when it came to others.

The sparks that flew between Alex and Tuesday was undeniable! I really liked getting to see these two tackle their feelings and other things in their lives. There was realness and sweetness throughout their journey.

With Sunflowers and Surrender, Ms.Fox has created such a great read that brought heart, steam, sunshine, and feels! I can always count on her stories to lift me up. I can't wait to read what she brings our way next! 🌻

Thank you LM Fox for allowing me to get my hands on this ARC book.

I started this book yesterday, I was on page 3 and somehow I finished it this morning. IT WAS THAT GOOD!

Blurb: Tuesday, is a 21 year old with an absolute love for flowers, especially Sunflowers. She works at a flower shop where she also delivers some therapy to sad lover boys. Her brother, Ricky, is a nurse and works out of town. Ricky has this best friend named, Alex, who Tuesday cannot stop thinking about.

Alex, is a 26 year old who has been secretly pining for Tuesday, but the only thing that’s stopping him from pursuing anything with her is her brother Ricky.

Thoughts:
I love me a good ole Dual POV! It’s so important to witness the reactions, thoughts, and how they process emotions.
I also love a fictional man who his pronouns are touch her/ and die lol. I LOVE ME A PROTECTIVE JEALOUS FICTIONAL MAN 👏🏽🫣🤭🥵
This was a great read and way to start my weekend. I’m super grateful I was able to get my hands on this 🤍

I am a big fan of forbidden/brother’s best friend/best friend’s sibling tropes and this novella is one that fits the mold of exactly what I look for! Of course, I would always love more story between a couple, but I was impressed by how LM Fox gives us a true love story in under 150 pages. Incredible!

Tuesday is instantly a love of mine. She’s perceptive, sweet, and has such a giving heart. Alex has kept his distance from Tuesday, knowing all along that she’s had a crush. Now that their age difference isn’t in an awkward phase, Alex can’t help but be drawn to her. I adore his protective instincts toward her and his willingness to break this off with Ainsley before pressing forward.

The emotions hit you square in the heart as you root for this sweet couple (with a nice bit of spice!). I love the bit of foreshadowing as Tuesday’s initial customer situation comes full circle. I’ll definitely be anxiously awaiting the next book!

I received a complimentary ARC for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.

❤️ “Baby, I think about little else. I never want you to think you aren’t worth the risk. It’s just a big step for me, committing to a long-term relationship. It’s not just the fear of losing all of you. I needed to be sure I wouldn’t hurt you. I know I’m going to screw this up. Look at what I’ve done to you already."

🌻 “I have a good feeling about us. I think we’ll find a way to overcome whatever life throws at us.”

Brothers best friend, age gap written by LM. Fox... you know I'm in!

Throw in he's a hottie firefighter, it's got that forbidden thing going in all different directions. There's tension and chemistry. Attraction. The push and pull. Finally fighting for what they want. And the realization that life is too short to live miserably. So do and be with who makes you happy! A short sweet read!

♥️ This is my ARC review, release day 1.6.23♥️♥️

📖📖 This book is part of the Wild Bloom series 📖📖

This is the forbidden best-friend's sister love story. And was so so good, short 😉, but very very good. If you've read some Layla's book, main character Alex is friend with Mick (Moonshot) and Trevor ( Naughty and Nice).
Tuesday is in love with Alex for long time, she has no idea Alex may have feelings for her too, but he tries to fight it, afriad to lose his best friend and his family, he doesn't think about himself as relationship material. But one day he realises Tues is everythink ( thanks a little help of Tuesday) and tries to show her she can trust him. But as always live has some obstacles to fight and time will show if Alex is the right person for Tuesday.

📖♥️I really enjoy this world created by Layla 😉👍 and hope to read about another characters ♥️📖.

I recieve this book in exchange for my honest review, thank you Layla.

ARC Review of Sunflowers and Surrender by L.M. Fox

A best friend's sister/brothers best friend romance that finally blooms after several attempts of misdirection and hiding one's feelings.

Tuesday has had feelings for Alex - her brother's best friend - for years. However, declaring such a thing is not so easy. Especially since he's not single currently.
However, things begin to change.
Alex cannot hide behind his masked feelings for too long, saying he is protecting her when really he is frustrated that he is not the one holding or touching her.
How long until both of them break?

Another fabulous read from this author, a sweet and steamy novella. We are given longing. We are given nasty girlfriend. We are given drama that came crashing at them. Thumbs up to Tuesday's parents for chosing a birthday present that is dope and eventually got this pair stuck together. Alex, dude, thank you for improving your taste in women.

When this ARC was brought up I was intrigued right away with the cover!

This story follows Tuesday (Sunny, like a Sunflower) and the feelings she has towards her brother’s best friend and Firefighter Alex. Ever since she was younger she felt a connection to Alex but knowing her brother Ricky would disapprove kept her away. Ricky has of course always been super protective with her being 20. So Tuesday tried to find other love interests and move on.

Not to mention the fact that Alex gave no signs he was interested and even had a girlfriend!
That never stopped Tuesday from wondering “what if?”

This was such a cute and fun read. I literally devoured it in a night! I loved how both parties tried so hard to resist their attraction but in the end the heart wants what it wants!

There was also the perfect amount of spice. I mean he is a sexy firefighter after all! And it was a quick read! Overall definitely recommend, especially during a reading slump!

LM Fox put a lot into this short story, Sunflowers and Surrender, a part of the Wild Bloom series. It might be a quick read but it packs a huge punch. I loved how protective Alex was with his best friends little sister Tuesday. He tried to tell himself it was just because he was trying to keep her out of trouble while her brother was out of town he soon realizes he’s just making excuses. Tuesday has been crushing on Alex since they were kids. She knows he’s off limits because he’s her brothers best friend and he’s older, but she can’t seem to move on with out at least trying to convince him otherwise. This was a fun read. The chemistry between Alex and Tuesday was excellent. It was fun watching Alex fall. I highly recommend this book. I look forward to reading more in this series, experiencing new authors, and reading more by LM Fox.
