There’s a whistle in the wind. And the sound doesn’t just belong to me.
I became my own version of The Greatest of the Great when an injury stole my dream. I found a healthy alternative for my rage so I can still swing my bat. If someone has the unfortunate curse of being on the other end of my swing, they’ll hear a whistle before they die. And it’s how I’ll kill any men who dares raise a fist to a woman. It’s the vow I made a long time ago, but when I meet Charlie, I learn a vow won’t ever be enough. The second I speak to her, I know. When I shake her hand, I feel her screams in my bones. The way she acts sets off every alarm inside me. She’s terrified. She flinches at every move and sound, every promise. And her husband is to blame. Physical, mental, and emotional abuse, yet she finds a way to love him. That’s when I learn it isn’t about love for her, it’s about survival. While she figures out a way to live, I figure out way to get her out of there. And I’m nearly too late. Loving her means defeating him. She has no idea what kind of man he truly is. He’s got a secret. And I’m going to set it free.
Charlie is stronger than she realizes, but the moment she does… I hear it in the wind.
A steamy and sweet installment in the Ruthless megaverse! Whistler is smitten with Charlie the moment he sees her. He becomes obsessed with saving her from her abusive husband, and protecting her–no matter the cost! It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by KL Savage (I was caught up for about a month haha!) and while I didn’t remember the details from the first book in this spin-off series, I was able to jump in and enjoy the story regardless. I’m also pretty excited about some of the other guys in this new MC and reading their inevitably adorable, yet kinda gruesome love stories! 4 stars
Whistler is dark MC romance. But the plot is more cheesy romance with a weak twist of abusive ex. Miss Savage did not elevate the dark aspect.
I am getting bored with this type of book. I want more dark and more adult theme romance. Not cheesy, brooding hero and weak heroine. Even the sex scenes are vanilla to me.
When this series first started, I just thought it was ok. The first five books were just alright, but I stuck with it, because it was only one book a month. I could deal with that. The next five books were released, and they just kept getting better with each additional character's story. Now, we've had spin-offs and additional MCs, and I can't wax enough poetry about the last couple. They're smooth as butter, and each one just gets better than the previous.
I know a lot of reviews are going to talk about Whistler, but I really think he is overshadowed by Taylor and Charlie. Both victims of domestic violence, I think they set the tone for Whistler's redemption. He handles each women's situation so differently, but in both cases he's exactly what they need. The Big Brother. The Protector. Their Strength.
Taylor is Whistler's kid sister that he feels obligated to look after. He can't stop her from being her own worst enemy. She's chasing love in all the wrong places, and along the way, she picks up winners who abuse and use her. Whistler just tries to keep her alive as no matter what he does to save her, she keeps running back. He thinks she'll never learn, but by the end of the book, she's picked up some valuable lessons at the school of hard knocks. Her story isn't resolved, but I really hope she gets a book and a certain brother.
Where Taylor is all love and rose-colored glasses, Charlie has been hardened over time to relationships and men. Married to a man who abuses her, she's in survival mode. She's been beaten down enough that she can't find her way out. Charlie barely remembers the women that she was and just like other victims wonders how she got to this point. With a chance meeting, Whistler knows something's wrong. He's seen this behavior before in his sister, but this time he doesn't take the passive route. He's determined that Charlie will never be hurt again bringing out a side of her personality that has long been buried.
Everything about Whistler hits you in the feels. Filled with brilliant characterization and a story that tugs on the heartstrings, this book is quickly devoured but leaves a lasting memory.
I don’t even know what to say about this book. Since I started reading this author, she has a way of shocking you like literally from the first page of the book right through the story. This one was no different. But also it deals with some heavy topics, so BE WARNED…
I have no words to describe the story, so I want to say that everything about this story freaking made me emotional. Whistler was always looking out for everyone around and he was so good at it. Charlie man oh man my heart broke for her. She seemed so defeated and broken. And when Whistler stepped it seemed like they were perfect for each other. But he just didn’t feel right getting involved with her especially with her circumstances. But he also couldn’t walk away especially when he finds out what she has to deal with, so he will be the one who fights for her 😊
My review might sound a bit confusing, but I also feel like I cant say much as the minute I start writing a long review I will tell the whole story, lol… So I wont, and I hope it kind of makes sense that you will want to read this story, cause I promise you wont regret picking up this author’s books 😊 I cant wait for the next book in this series.
⚠️trigger warning ⚠️ Please read the details before reading this book….
I absolutely loved this book. It’s a spin off from the Ruthless Kings Vegas MC. This one is Ruthless underworld (Mercy is President in this one)
Wesley never intended to join a biker gang. All he wanted was to play baseball and look after his sister. But when his sister is attacked by a biker, her brother comes in swinging with his bat. The gang that the biker was affiliated with didn’t stop Wesley, but told him it was justice was served for his sister, and if he ever wanted a place to belong he was to look them up…. A knee injury put paid to Wesley’s baseball career. He is now VP (Vice President) to the Ruthless Kings alongside Mercy and the gang. And his road name Whistler…. well that’s from swinging the bat so hard it whistles through the air before it strikes!
Charlie is a contractor in her fathers business, she’s also a housewife and a battered woman! A victim of spousal abuse, for years she’s stayed quiet, put up with the verbal and physical pain. But when it goes too far, Charlie thinks about killing either her husband or herself! She’s hit rock bottom……
Meeting Charlie has Whistler (Wesley) in a spin! He’s totally into her, but knows she’s a married woman (he’s not going to encroach on another man territory) but when he gets an inkling something is wrong, then all bets are off! He’s going to help Charlie anyway he can….
Whistler is an absolute gent, I love his pet name for Charlie (cupcake) he’s so caring and just wants to protect both his sister and Charlie, in fact he’s just a caring person altogether. He’s worried about Mercy (he’s still upset about losing the icky woman he loved and finding out they had a daughter together!) He’s worried about his sister and the wrong men she’s always hanging around with. But mainly Charlie, he’s worried that she won’t bounce back from all the abuse she’s suffered. But he’s going to go slow and win her around.
This one still has all the angst and heartache that you’ve come to expect from the author. We have the husband that won’t leave Charlie alone! We have issues with a rival gang, and we have the heartache that both Charlie and Whistler have to deal with before they get a HEA.
It’s not necessary to read the other books, you don’t even need to read book one (Mercy) in the spin off, but it does give you a little background (I haven’t, but I’m definitely going back to read book I’ve at some point!)
KL always delivers with her emotion and intensity, and while I didn't connect with with book as much as others (which is no doubt due to what's going on in my personal life and no shame on these women in any way) it was still an enjoyable read. Charlie rang so true as a battered woman, and seeing her growth made me so proud of her. She went to having no hope at all to having the entire world at her feet, and as a hard-core feminist I was all here for that!!
Whistler is a protector in every sense of the word. He protected his sister from a truly dangerous situation, which his baseball bat no less, (he slams it so fast and hard it gives off a Whistle, hence his road name) and the first time he sets his sights on Charlie, he knows she needs protecting in the worst of ways. He immediately thinks of her as is, and there is no stopping his infatuation/love/obsession with her, and if anyone dares to get in his way, well let's just just his friendly baseball bat will get a workout. 😉
I truly loved getting to know Taylor too, and I certainty hope we will see her with a certain someone. She has been in the same situation as Charlie, but instead of hardened by life, she's still hopeful that she can find the right kind of love, the one that doesn't hurt and instead empowers. She grew tremendously too, and I just adore her so much. I loved the relationship between her and Whistler (they are siblings) which made me love Whistler that much more.
This is definitelya great addition to the Hellhounds series! I would just give caution to those who have been in an abuse relationship before to get in a healthy mental state before reading!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
The Ruthless Hounds MC is in the process of having some work done on their new clubhouse when Wesley “Whistler” …. meets Charlie who comes to give them an estimate for the work that needs to be done. His attraction to her is almost overwhelming and he’s heartbroken when he realizes that she’s married. But everything isn’t quite as it seems and Charlie is hiding a secret. One that could ultimately lead to her death.
What a fantastic read! There is no one that does the tragic backstory quite like the duo of KL Savage. Rip your heart out romance at it’s finest. They did such a great job delving into the mindset of the abused. The fear. The hopelessness. The storyline was fantastic, both quick moving and packed with tons of action. Whistler was quite the alpha hero. Super protective and growly, but willing to let Charlie set the pace she needs to move forward and feel safe. The book was a bit of a slow burn due to the nature of the story, but the chemistry between the two of them was there from beginning to end. Absolutely wonderful read - can’t wait to see where the Ruthless Hounds go next!!
Whistler is the second book in the Ruthless Hellhounds MC series - a newer spinoff of the Ruthless Kings MC. It can be read as a standalone, but best read in order.
This is the second book in this series today. They should be read in order. The story is about Whistler and Charlie. Whistler knows about abuse. His sister always picks the wrong guys because she just wants to be loved. Charlie and Whistler meet when her father’s company are redoing the club’s bar. He knows right away that something is going on. He can’t seem to stay away. He wants to help her and protect her. Her husband isn’t who he pretends to be to everyone. Charlie knows right away that Whistler could help her and part of her wants to let him help her. But she knows what her husband is capable of. Whistler be able to help Charlie? If he can what will the cost be? Someone like Charlie’s husband doesn’t let go easily and he isn’t on the up and up. The club will have to decide how far the are willing to go to save Charlie. This book is a great read. It may have triggers for some. I loved it so much. I can’t wait for K.L. Savage’s next book.
Book #2 of the spin off series from Ruthless Kings to the Ruthless Hellhounds. They are their own MC... not part of the Ruthless Kings but are friendly with each other.
This is Whistler and Charlie aka Cupcake. Yes her parents thought they were having a boy but turned out to be a girl but still got the name Charlie...lol. This group of misfits are new to the club. Some have been together but not all... they are starting with a new clubhouse and bar and a place for battered women. Charlie's dad is the one who has his crew on building the clubhouse. She works for her Dad but is also married. Whistler has a sister who is in bad relationships so he knows the signs and he knows Charlie is keeping secrets. She is keeping so many secrets. More than even she knows. Whistler is a man who knows what he wants but he won't break up a happy marriage.
A kid who always hits home runs and swings a bat so hard that the bat whistles, he wasn't sure what to do next when he lost his chance at the MLB. One fateful night, he is outside of the Hellhounds MC showing that he will do whatever it takes to protect those he loves, no matter the cost. Years later, he is now the VP of the Ruthless Hellhounds. A club started with Mercy. Needing a clubhouse and Mercy having bought the Peep Show, Whistler decides that they will use it to turn it into their clubhouse as well as the shelter that Mercy wants. A place for women to get away and feel safe. Where no one can hurt them. They are a bit in over their heads though and construction takes a dive. Wanting to get the place up and running, they hire a team and are now on the lookout for Charlie to show up and get the show on the road.
What Whistler doesn't expect is for Charlie to be the most beautiful woman he has ever laid his eyes on.
Charlie is hiding a secret. A secret that she is ashamed of and tries to keep from everyone. She doesn't do well enough though. Those close to her can see the facade she puts in place and want to do nothing more than to help her. When she meets Whistler, what she feels should scare her but the only person, besides her father, who doesn't scare her is Whistler. It's that fact that makes her worry but at the same time, gives her some bit of hope.
Whistler wants to help Charlie, his Cupcake, to get out of the world she is trapped in. He sits and waits, watches over her, and becomes her shadow. Hoping to save her from herself, from her husband, and from the dangers that she has become accustomed to. He feels so strongly about her on a quick and personal level. Hoping that she can be free of Hell and become the bright shining light that he knows she is.
This story was fantastic. Taking us through the pain of abuse and how the abused tries to navigate the world around them. How to stay safe and live another day. How they try to plan their escape only to tell themselves that it won't work. It also shows that when the right person comes along and lifts you up, lets you be who you are, and loves you no matter what, that is all you need to become everything you are capable of and meant to be.
Mercy is the new Prez of the Hellhounds, Whistler is the VP and his sister is a hot mess. His career as a baseball player was stolen from him due to an injury and he found a brotherhood in the MC. When he meets Charlie everything changes but she comes with her own set of problems. After years of abuse by her husband both physical and mental she only sees herself as being weak. Getting her away from her husband is a first step Whistler has to accomplish and then building her back up to the woman she was meant to be. Hey sister gets in a sticky spot again and then Charlie sacrifices herself to save his sister. Can Whistler save his sister and Charlie from a madman before it’s too late?
The second book of the spin-off of the Ruthless Kings and it does not disappoint. This is Whistlers story and as each one has his own story, it’s a unique one that keeps you drawn in and is very interesting. I love whistler & Charlie. As you meet each character you’ll impatiently want to know more of their story.
This is the second book in Mercy's spin off club from the Ruthless Kings. Whistler is his right hand guy and the one trying to hold the club together long enough to have Mercy get organized. Whistler is a good man with a deadly swing of the bat. He does not tolerate abuse of women. It's got him through life just fine. His sister is trying at best but is involved with some bad dudes. During all her turmoil, Whistler meets Charlie .
This is one of the best lead characters I have meet from these authors. Charlie has literally lived through hell and back. The strength it took for her to say ENOUGH was really remarkable. Of course the MC helped by dispelling some myths for her. Many twists and turns along the way as her life story is revealed.
Lots of MC action but also a sweet falling in love story. Loved seeing this newer MC get its feet under it. Such a great mission for these guys. I am sure they will be hanging out with the original crew again at some point as well.
Can't wait to read more!
*Complimentary copy provided for an honest review.
Whistler had such a big future ahead of him but something happens and changes his big plans. He finds his way to the MC life when he defends and protects his little sister. Flash forward and now he’s in the Ruthless Hellhounds with Mercy. They’re working on renovating Mercy’s place and they’re supposed to meet up with a guy named Charlie. To Whistler’s surprise Charlie is NOT a man.
Charlie works with her Dad at his company and is used to always being mistaken for a man. She is keeping a big secret. One Whistler suspects what it is and is waiting for proof so that he can act on helping her. He is drawn to her and can’t seem to stay away.
The dynamic they have is amazing! Whistler’s book is more on the sweeter side and I don’t know if I’ll ever looking at cupcakes the same way again! I really liked Whistler and Charlie’s story! I can’t wait to read about even more of the Hellhounds!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Whister by KL Savage is book 2 in the Ruthless Hellhounds series. While most of KL's books leave me gutted this one is relatively lighter than the others. Don't get me wrong, the reader needs to be aware of the spousal (?) abuse and miscarriage mentioned but this isn't the core of the story. Whistler is the guy always sticking up for the underdog. He lost his dream to play MLB but found a new purpose with the MC.
Whistler has spent his life looking out for and taking care of his sister Taylor. She has a history of choosing bad men so when he meets Charlie he can see the signs of a battered woman. Whistler shows such a loving and caring side for Charlie. I love he isn't afraid to show his emotions. He puts her needs ahead of his own. He and Charlie deserve a happily ever after.
Charlie, through the support of Whistler finds her strength. She rises above the position she is put in and comes out on top. She is one of the strongest woman in all the series in my opinion and I can wait to see where her character goes. She has no problem keeping the Hellhounds in line.
We have met Mercy in earlier Ruthless Kings' books. In Whistler we see him come into his role as President. We also are getting to know a whole new group of men in this new MC. It is such fun to meet them. KL Savage really has already defined their personalities and quirks. Each man we have met has their own traits that makes him stand out in the pack.
I can't recommend this series enough. These men take care of those they love including their MC brothers. Each book becomes a well loved addition to the group. Read Whistler...you will love it.

•••••••• REVIEW: WHISTLER is the second instalment in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS HELLHOUNDS erotic, MC, romance series. This is thirty-two year old, Wesley aka Whistler, and twenty four year old, Charlie Fletcher’s storyline. WHISTLER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. RUTHLESS HELLHOUNDS is a spin off from the author’s Ruthless Kings MC series.
WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be trigger for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Charlie and Whistler) WHISTLER follows in the wake of Whistler’s suspicions of abuse directed at Charlie Fletcher, a young woman whose father owns the construction company bidding on a job for the Ruthless Hellhounds MC. Believing Charlie is being abused by her husband, Whistler stakes out her home only to be called back in to discover his younger sister Taylor is missing. Torn between saving the lives of two women for whom he cares deeply, Whistler must first save Charlie from herself, then save her from a man whose secrets run dangerous and deep. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Charlie and Whistler, and the potential fall-out as the MC is targeted in a fatal game to control the likes of Charlie Fletcher.
Charlie Fletcher believes she has no other choice but to remain in an abusive relationship with the man she once loved but when pushed too far, Charlie is wiling to end it all, in an effort to escape the pain and humiliation of her daily life. Whistler and the Ruthless Hellhounds are all about protecting those who are unable to protect themselves but often it is the victim who refuses protection, and in this, the MC must make a move before it is too late.
The relationship between Charlie and Whistler is one of immediate attraction, one in which Charlie is unable to free herself from a toxic relationship fearing for the lives of the people she loves.Battered and beaten, Charlie finds herself in the arms of our story line hero, a man she will quickly learn will become guardian and protector, at a risk to his own life. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic.
We are reintroduced to several members of the Ruthless Hellhounds MC including the president Mercy, and Whistler’s best friend One, as well as Whistler’s sister Taylor. The requisite evil has many faces.
WHISTLER is a fast paced, raw and impassioned story line. The premise is gritty and dramatic; the romance is provocative and intense; the characters are edgy and spirited. WHISTLER ends on a ‘happily ever after –for now’.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
Everyone has dreams when they are young. And mine came to an abrupt halt. I changed as a man, as a person, my soul was damaged beyond repair. So I turned into someone everyone would hate. Because I hate everyone and everything. I'm furious at the world. I don't see that changing anytime soon. But then it does change. And if there is one thing I am not good at, it's adapting. Hope, Bullseye's daughter, jump starts my soul again. I hate it. I love it. I need her. But I can't have her. She's my friend's daughter, for one. For two, she is way too young for the likes of me. Three? She's got a kid and everyone knows how I feel about kids. Vermin. Loud. Annoying. Wonderful. Beautiful. Precious. The voice inside my head is stupid. It wants and wants but I won't allow myself to have it. I don't deserve to have it. There's no hope for me. Even if hope is staring me in the face. I have to focus on me. My business. I'm on a case. Women are dying. And it's all because of me. I have to protect what I care about for once in my life. I failed once and I refuse to do it again.
This is the story of Whistler. He was once a young boy with the dream of the MLB because he could always hit home runs and wing his bat so hard that it whistled. Now he isn't sure what to do next. Until one night he finds himself outside the Hellhounds MC showing that he will do whatever it takes to protect those he loves, no matter what it may cost him. Fast forward and he is not the VP of the Ruthless Hellhounds. This is the MC that Mercy started and he also bough the Peep Show which Whistler decides they will use to turn into their clubhouse as well as the shelter that Mercy wants. After all women feeling safe and protected is his main priority. However they may have bitten off more than they can chew as construction stalls and their dream comes to a stand still. They need to get this place done. But they hire a new crew and are waiting on Charlie to get there and get things done. But when Charlie shows up Whistler is shocked to find out that she is one of the most beautiful women he has ever in his life seen But this woman has got secrets and she has never let anyone know that secret. She may think she is fooling everyone but she isn't they can all see it when they look at her. When she meets Whistler she is shocked to find that he and her father are the only two men in the world that do not scare her to death. Sparks fly and this story really takes off and will have you reading your heart out. I loved these two characters that both seemed to hide themselves from the real world. However Charlie is off limits and she has kids!!! But none of that is going to stop him from protecting her. From what you may ask? You have to read to find out. I really liked this one and had the best time reading it. I got really lost in this world and the characters in this book.
Charlie and Whistler Story. It started with a bang and ended with a explosion that is sure to get your blood pumping and your muscles tightened! It is brutal and heartrendering. You want to believe that everything is going good until you spot the noticable bruises, bruises that should have never been created. Kenneth is a brute and bully who has no incling of the diamond he has. But with Mercy and Whistlers help everyone is going to know not to mess with the Ruthless Kings from ANY chapter! The Kings should be the most feared MC in Vegas and with some thinking they can just take or consume what the Kings claim, well sorry to rain on your parade but the Kings Keep what is theirs very close and if you choose to mess with theirs be prepare to give everything. This story was brilliantly written with characters that come to life right off the pages. I love this series with its ingenuity of how all the characters play into the story. These authors have graced us with a phenomenal story and a great addition to this epic series! When I say EPIC it is! When I read Mercys story I cried until I though I had no more tears left, I was so wrong, it only gets better! I like the fact that what is really happening was not in the forefront of this story line, but it revealed at the most opportune time with a twist I did not see coming! This series is WOW! Nothing else needs said about it.

This is another spinoff of the Ruthless Kings in the Ruthless underworld. We met Whistler in Pirates book, if not brief mentions before that.
Whistler suffered a tragedy that changed his outlook and goals for his future. His frustration and anger actually earned him respect from the Hellhounds MC and that became his new life.
Helping Mercy start a new club and keep all his family close and safe are the only goals until he meets Charlie. The daughter of the contractor hired to help build the clubhouse, sparks something he didn't know he was missing.
Charlie's home situation is anything but ideal and after finally breaking free she allows herself to see who she is and who she can be.
These two characters are soft and sweet, strong and determined. They're loyal to each other and their family. This was a great way to introduce more characters in the larger Ruthless world. There was mention of the original Kings, however this story (so far this spin off) stands on its own. If you have not read any of the ruthless Kings underworld books this is a great series to start and if you have read them, then know this is just another must read addition.

When he spots his sister being man handled one night, he happens upon his future. Now a patched member of the Demon’s Fury, he’s found his new path in life. That is until the Demon’s Fury is without a president. Now trying to keep the MC going and asking Mercy to be the new president, they have a path and a purpose. When he first sees the woman climbing out of the rusty old truck he’s stunned by her beauty, but then he sees that she’s married.
Whistler is a man that wants to help anyone that is in trouble or hurting. He can’t help himself. His sister keeps him busy with her tragic choices in men and now this woman he’s just met, Charlie, brings all of his protective senses out and on alert. When Whistler starts digging into Charlie and her husband, he isn’t expecting to find the danger and the connection to his sister, but he is determined to save them both and protect what is his. I loved this book. Whistler is such a great character. The MC is finally coming together, and Mercy’s is coming along now that there is someone that knows what they’re doing in remodeling it. I am looking forward to reading more in the Ruthless Hellhounds MC series. I love the Ruthless world and the characters always brighten my day. I loved that Charlie was the one to finally save day and get her own revenge with her “husband”. It was such a great ending to their tumultuous relationship. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more from the characters in this series.
Great MC romance and Whistler is one you want to read.
This is the second book in the Ruthless Hellhounds series written by K.L. Savage but in the Ruthless Underworld this is book 25! I’ve been reading these since the start of July and have become hooked on the series. I am all caught up with them and am eagerly awaiting the next.
If you want to start from the beginning of the series you’ll need to start with Reaper’s Rise it is a prequel to start the series and is the beginning of it all. You will be introduced to the Ruthless Kings MC (Las Vegas Chapter) This prequel was enough to get me hooked and through the series, we have been introduced to a few other clubs and characters. If you want to start with the Hellhounds then you’ll need to start with Mercy.
But I’m not here to talk about the whole series I want to tell you about Whistler, who I fell in love with a little. He has popped up in a few of the other books in the Ruthless Underworld series and I was intrigued by him. When I saw he had his own book I had to stop myself from jumping ahead and reading his book out of order. I’m glad I waited, though if I’d known I’d enjoy it so much I may have skipped.
Who is Whistler? He’s the VP of the Ruthless Hellhounds, a new MC who is a mix of a club that fell apart when their president died, and new members one of them being Mercy who is now the President. He’s a little reluctant to start with so Whistler is trying to pull it all together and get their club off the ground.
He’s a good guy who lost his dream after an injury, he was lost and he kind of walked into the MC life by accident. Something he didn’t regret. If you read MC novels you’ll know that they are full of good bad guys. They do a lot of good for their cities and those they love, if straying over the line of the law happens, then so be it. Whistler is no exception.
When Charlie walks into his life he knows she’s special and he wants her to be his. One problem… she’s married. Whistler knows something is off and he won’t stop watching out for Charlie until he figures out what it is. Even if he can’t have her, he can help her.
When the truth comes out Whistler will save her and keep her for his own. They just have to survive to get their happily ever after.
The book made me smile, had me anxious for the characters, and got me right in the feels. The chemistry between the two was hot and heavy just the right amount of steam to be enjoyable for the reader. If you don’t like to hear all the dirty details going on in the bedroom then MC romance books are probably not for you. If you like the naughty details with your romance than this is another good read.
If you take a chance and start this series, or have already read it and Whistler, I’d love to know what you thought.
This is book two in the Ruthless Hellhound MC chapter. I want to state up front this is an amazing read with some hard hitting true life issues. Issues that may trigger some, so be advised. However, the author handles these issues with a remarkable, sensitive touch. Kudos K.L. for a job well done.
The Ruthless Hellhounds chapter, a sister chapter to the Ruthless Kings, is in the process of starting up, with Mercy as it’s new Prez. Wesley, AKA Whistler, is one of his right hand men. As far as society goes, he may not be a “good man” but at heart he is. He is loyal, protective and bad to the bone. His younger dreams didn’t turn out anything like he’d planned but he found a purpose with the MC. He first meets Charlie, who works for her father’s construction company, when she comes to make a construction bid for the MC’s bar/club house. After caring for his little sister and cleaning all the messes she’s gotten into, the first thing Whistler suspects is abuse, even though she denies it. But Whistler knows better and is determined to fight for the sassy little gal that’s wormed her way into his heart.
This is a fast paced, gritty, exciting storyline. It held me captivated from start to end, keeping me reading into the wee hours of the morning to find out what happens (it just that dang good of a read). I Highly recommend Whistler. You don’t have to have read the original series (which is still going strong) or the authors spin off chapters or even book one of this series to enjoy Whistler. However I’d like to say the books are all phenomenal and if you like MC romances all the authors books are worth grabbing up as they are very well written and if you're like me they will be books you’ll read over and over again.
2 Thumbs Up and 5+ Stars (However to me Whistler Is worth so much more)
Can she be saved? Can she save be the one that I need? Are they the perfect fit? K L. has you riding an emotional rollercoaster with Whistler but it is well worth the ride.
Whistler, Wesley, was going to the big leagues in pro baseball but an injury changed his whole life. He is now part of the Ruthless Hounds MC and it's home. He made a cow to protect women and deal with anyone who lifts a finger to hurt them. He got his name because you will hear the whistle of his bat before he hits you. He meets Charlie whose family company is working on a house for the club. There is something about her that draws him to her but also has him worried about her. Why does she completely cover herself up and wear a scarf in the heat? Whistler wants to find out why she seems scared and jumpy. How will he deal with his feelings? Can he convince her he can protect her?
Charlie is living a life of hell. Her marriage is abusive but stays because she is worried about her loved ones. She thinks she is broken and not worth anything. Then in walks Whistler and things change. He is all she thinks about. She bumps into everywhere, is he following her? When she makes the biggest decision of her life,Whistler is there to save her. She has strong feels for him and he seems to be one man that she trusts. What happens when they find out that there is more going on under the surface with her husband?
K.L. seems to always grab your attention and heartstrings right from the start. She hits it out of the park with this one. I could not put this one down even with a couple of tears slipping because of Charlie.
This was hands down an amazing home run hit for me, KL knocked it out of the park with this amazing next book to the Ruthless Hellhounds MC. The main characters are such a well put together powerhouse couple Whistler is the VP of the Ruthless Hellhounds MC and was growing up on his way to a career as a MBL but a knee injury ended his dream of playing Professional Baseball.
Then there is Charlie a beautiful woman who he meets because she came to do repairs on what is going to be the Ruthless Hellhounds new home but on one visit she is badly injured so Whistler sees the signs of abuse that he has seen in the past because of his sister been a victim. So Charlie becomes a new obsession for Whistler he starts watching over her like his sister.
Charlie is a woman married to a very abusive man and Whistler is the brother of a sister who herself is part of a bad abusive relationship which draws him to be protective over both women. Even though Whistler can't play baseball he can swing a bat and kill someone very quickly, that talent alone helped him be recruited and taken in by the MC.
This amazing page turning read with keep you turning the page to see what is gonna happen next, the author gives you quite a few different emotions such as love, hate, revenge, grief and hurt. There's plenty of twist and turns with lots of action. Ultimately will Whistler save Charlie? Will he be able to save the sister who he loves more than life itself?
Good read. I'm going to like this series better than the last new series with 🌈. Can you picture that series at Sturgis. That's an ass whipping waiting to happen. Anyway, I like the book all way through until some parts near the ending. I love all the male characters in this book and can't wait for more. Now for the bad parts. Some spoilers......
The men are drugged up but can still ride they're bikes home. I think not. And Mercy really isn't fit for a President at least not yet. Also in the beginning of the book at the crappy motel, Whistler says he only has a little bit of money saved so they need to get to the new club house but throughout the book he is throwing money around like he has millions. Is that a little money lol. Also Mercy is throwing so much money around its crazy. As for Whistler's sister, enough already geez. She is never going to learn or care about repercussions unless One gets involved, maybe. Now Charlie I felt sorry for, until the end when she is saying and kinda whining about it's better for them if she just goes back to Kenneth and all will be right. Hate wahoos me Martyrs. Also you just can't get on a motorcycle and just drive it. Doesn't work like that. But will say she finally got was coming to herself by beating the crap out of Kenneth. You go girl lol. One other thing the puppy felt like a last minute thing and was not needed. That could have been someone's puppy geez lol.
I’m literally obsessed with Whistler and Cupcake’s story from beginning to end.
Wesley aka Whistler has all the characteristics of a protector and is exactly what Charlie needs.
Charlie aka Cupcake has been torn down again and again by an abusive husband to the point where she’s ready to end it all, one way or another. Thankfully, she meets Whistler at the right moment in her life, when she truly needs it.
The insta-love and story line sucked me in straight away!
I freaking love K.L. Savage for writing about an abusive relationship and how it can impact a persons thoughts, behaviour and overall life, I feel it’s the most important part of this story. Domestic violence isn’t only physical but also the emotional and mental abuse which they displayed within this story. I love how they didn’t try to soften or ‘fluff’ up the abuse and allowed you to experience all the emotions, flinching and pain through their words.
The journey they take you on as a victim of domestic abuse to a survivor of domestic abuse, it’s so real and touching.
There is so much character development happening in this book and not just from the main characters but also the secondary ones.
I loved everything about this story and I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series!
I’m pretty sure it’s my favorite of the authors so far. Sure, it’s also my first of this particular series, but it looks a lot like their main series, so I wasn’t lost in unknown territories.
All the usual indredients are there: an instant connection between a rugged biker and a woman, some big awful drama, a suspenseful plot, a lot of blood, sexy times. But I felt the balance was attained and the result was close to perfection.
The female character, as often, was a victim–here of domestic abuse–but I also thought she was a tough cookie. She took control of her own life, even if it comes after a moment of weakness. But pushing back after reaching rock bottom seemed pretty realistic anyway. Whistler was a natural caretaker and his whole personality was pretty coherent–he cares for people and he helps them whenever he can, but he’s also able to make tough decisions when it’s necessary. Though I didn’t buy the instalove–and would have liked to see more connections before feelings appeared–the dynamic between them worked really well and I fell in love with their relationship.
I had more problems with the villain. I couldn’t see his motivations. But he was a real bad guy with no redeeming qualities and I suppose the story needed that. He was at the center of the suspense element. Some of the details didn’t add up, or felt unbelievable, but it was still gripping and entertaining. I hope to see more of the Scapegoats in the future.
With it being only the second book in the series, most of the members of the MC club were thrown in with their defining trait and they looked more like cardboard characters than real characters with depth, but it’s okay with such a huge ensemble of characters.
Dark and sexy, not an easy read, but a top read in my opinion.
Quickie
- Series: Ruthless Hellhounds MC #2 (can be read as a standalone) - Hashtags: #MC romance #dark romance #age gap - Triggers: domestic abuse, violence, torture, death, substance use - Main couple: Charlie Fletcher & Whistler - Hotness: 5/5 - Romance: 4/5 - + I love it when a woman takes control over a strong man - – again a bit too instalove for me
