Our attraction is undeniable, our connection lethal. But as I get closer to her, I realize that her truths might be more dangerous than mine.

How far will I go to exact my revenge when the woman I love stands in my way?

A Necessary Sin is a dark, passionate story of love, betrayal, and redemption. It’s the first book in the Sin Trilogy, a series filled with intense twists, steamy romance, and heart-stopping suspense.

A Necessary Sin (The Sin Trilogy #1) by Georgia Cates
    5 stars!!

    “Into me … you see,”

My first five star read of 2015 goes to…Georgia Cates!! I have had this book on my kindle for a few weeks and was eager for it to get to the top of my list. I loved Georgia’s Beauty from Pain series so was itching to get my grabby hands on this one. Cover lust, check…Blurb lust, check…Book LOVE, check!!

I have to say that this was a fantastic read and for me is by far Georgia’s best book yet. For a first book in series this book serves its purpose by the bucket load. It is an addictive read; I could not put it down. The plot had me hooked as did the characters, there was nothing I disliked about this book and at the end all I was left wanting for, was more.

Bleu MacAllister is one ballsy woman, since she was twelve years old she has had one mission in life and that was to avenge her mother’s death. She has trained in martial arts, she was a police officer, she worked for the FBI, but to her these were not jobs, they were training. She has done everything she can to make herself the ultimate killer. She is strong, she is emotionally detached, she is fierce but most of all she is determined. Her mother’s death affected her in more ways than one and that one event has led her to be the woman that she is today. Her adopted fathers ailing health means that she has to bring her mission forward…revenge is near…off to Scotland she goes.

“Telling him I intended to hunt and execute Thane Breckenridge was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

I loved the setting for this book, being from the UK and recently attending the book signing event in Edinburgh, I could picture a lot of the scenes in this book and they only brought back fond memories. I love it when I can actually picture the surroundings; it always makes the book seem more real.

The family that she needs to infiltrate are a mafia type and are very security conscious. They are only friends with people within the group, they can only marry within the group, they are extremely intrinsic and this is all through fear of competitors and enemies finding a way in. There are rules and these are to never be broken but Bleu believes her way in is through the next in line to the “throne,” Sinclair Breckenridge. He is a lawyer and has nearly completed his training to take over from his father. Now Bleu just has to make her move. Being emotionally detached will have its benefits after all, but that was before she met Sinclair.

“Rule number ten: it’s all about the right move at the right time—pacing and patience. I’ll read his emotions and body language to know what needs to come next. A necessary sin. That’s what tonight is.”

I have to say, I found another BBF in Sinclair Breckenridge, or Sin as he is known by. He was an intense character, highly revered by all, he oozed confidence and his leadership qualities were there for all to see and adhere to. He spoke, you listened, he said jump, you said how high! He came across all dark, brooding and menacing but even in the beginning I could see little flickers of light lurking in the background.

This was similar to insta-lust but our Bleu makes him work for it and this is something that Sin is totally unaccustomed too. Sin is used to women falling over themselves to get a night with him so to come across a woman that isn’t really piques his interest. The character connection between these two was scorching and you felt it through the pages, page by page you felt their bond deepen. Sin is intrigued by Bleu; he loves the fact that she is feisty and fierce, yet loyal and protective. I loved the way that Georgia Cates gradually showed the change in Sin, slowly but surely you saw him believe in himself and Bleu; they were so well suited it was uncanny.

“I love you, Bleu MacAllister. I’ll always do what it takes to keep you safe, no matter the extreme.”

I have to admit, I was on tenterhooks throughout this book. You know that their relationship is unconventional and on paper should never happen and never last. It is with your heart in your throat that you continue reading knowing that this can only go south. I was so invested in their relationship though, the writing was perfect, I felt the chemistry, the emotion, the fear, the anticipation, I felt it all and I absolutely loved it. While the subject of revenge is at the forefront of the story it more or less takes a back seat throughout this book, it is always there lurking in the background but this for all intents and purposes is Sin and Bleu’s story and I cannot wait for February 9th for book 2, The Next Sin. For those that hate waiting, there is more good news…the third book in the Trilogy, One Last Sin releases on 23rd March.

“He didn’t kill my mother but he’s the spawn of the man who did. I’m supposed to be sickened by his touch, so why am I desperate to have more of it?”

I have to take my hat off to Georgia Cates, she nailed this one.

Bleu is out for revenge. She has lived her life to avenge the killer of her mother, to seek justice in the form of death - the death of the man who changed her life forever. The time comes & she steps into her final role of this journey, every angle covered, every step of this planned to precision - except she didn't expect to fall in love with Sin.

He is the son of the Fellowship Leader, he demands respect & doesn't flinch at what needs to be done in his role within this clan. He hides his own secrets, secrets that could destroy him & his postion. He has no room for emotion, for a woman, for love. Until he meets Sin.

The character development was good & I love the twists & turns of the plot. I truly didn't expect the end to finish as it did & cant wait to read book 2.

Holy smoke! Sin and Bleu r one hot couple! Him part of the Fellowship and Bleu out to get revenge for her mother's murder, both of them not knowing the real truth about each other and in a cruel twist of fate, fall in love. Think Abram is behind Amanda's murder as he seems a possessive b'tard that will kill anyone who doesn't fit in his plans. Love the ending where Sin is left cuffed to the bed. Go Bleu ;-)) Can't wait for next instalment. Another fantastic read from Georgia xx

This is my first book by Georgia and I can say that it was absolutely great!!!
I love "mafia/family" type books but this one is different than what I thought it would be. The story goes across continents and there is a great time to be had in Scotland. There is nothing not to love about this book. Bleu is the ultimate female lead, she is strong yet feminine, a total badass woman who can take care of herself but has been been through some rough times in her life. Sinclair is my kind of alpha man who knows how to look after his woman but still gives her a chance to spread her wings and grow into the person she wants to be. The love between these two is next level and the drama and intrigue will keep you on the edge of your seat. this book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger so you will have to go and get book two right now!

Amazing. This just sucks you in and gets you invested from the start. Two enemies who find love in the darkest space. I live the crude and alpha make Sinclair who needs a headstrong and determined woman in bleu. She pushes and demands and gives as good as she gets and they are explosive together. The ending is so heartbreaking and funny at the same time. I can't wait for book two.

Really enjoyed the characters, a bit disappointed as the book finished at 87%, its a pet hate of mine if more than 5% of the book you buy goes on to introduce you to another book, that as no relation to the one you are reading, I will read the next one in the series but I hate feeling ripped off so will think twice before i embark on any further series by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars! A Necessary Sin, book 1(3). Girl set on revenging the man who ruined her family is smitten by his son!
Reviewed in the United States on 13 January 2015
“Fire, meet gasoline.” He kisses me quickly. “You have a beautiful come face.”

Books should be read in order:
    Book 1: A Necessary Sin
    Book 2: The Next Sin
    Book 3: The Last Sin

A Necessary Sin (book 1) is Bleu MacAllister, Bonny Bleu’s (formerly Stella Bleu Lawrence, Bluebird) story about her quest for vengeance against the man who murdered her mother and left her for dead. Luckily she was adopted by the FBI agent who found her and had a loving upbringing, serving a few years in local law enforcement and most recently as a FBI agent.

It’s been 18 years since that fateful night and it’s time to execute her plan. She is traveling to Edinburgh Scotland to infiltrate the Fellowship a tightknit Scottish mob family.

Sinclair Breckenridge, Sin is the prodigal son raised to take over his father’s mafia empire. Wrapping up his law degree, he has only been looking for brief sexual encounters against walls and furniture. But meeting the new American barmaid at his friend’s establishment shifts his world off its axel.
“I’ll demand more of you than any other woman ever has, and for that, I’m completely unapologetic.”

As suspicious as he is of the stunning Bleu, whom he quickly renames Bonny Bleu he cannot help being attracted to her. Their sexual tension is palpable from the moment they meet. But Bleu doesn’t do one-night stands and so to get in her pants he is forced to court her.

The length these two will go to have each other. But they are doomed even before they begin. Sin is supposed to be a means to a cause. Bleu is about to kill his father and besides The Fellowship doesn’t accept outsiders. Lies, deceit, murder, villains and more stand in their way yet there biggest obstacles might still be from within.
“The extremes I will go to have you.”

    SINCLAIR BRECKENRIDGE, Sin: Scottish/26 years/Attorney trainee/Mobster son/Fellowship heir/Brown hair/Brown eyes/Tattoo/6’2”.
Sure at first sight Sinclair Breckenridge, Sin is a ruthless killer, but underneath that hides the most adorable and swoon-worthy hero. I cannot get enough of him. Wait to you learn more about his secrets. I predict he’ll wrap himself around your heart!

Ten words to describe Sin: Ruthless, nurturing, flexible, sincere, possessive, open-minded, chivalrous, determined, protective and adorable.
“The lopsided grin I love so much makes an appearance just for me. I covet it, especially when it’s accompanied by a single dimple.”

BLEU MACALLISTER, Bonny Bleu (aka Stella Bleu Lawrence, Bluebird): American/Former police/FBI/Barmaid/Brown hair/Light blue eyes/5’6”.
Ten words to describe Bleu MacAllister, Bonny Bleu’s (formerly Stella Bleu Lawrence, Bluebird): Broken, ambitious, calculated, smart, strong, deceptive, focused, conflicted, complex and naïve.
“I’ve claimed her. But what I really want right now is to possess her.”

A Necessary Sin had me hooked from page 1 by the concept, writing and Bleu’s mission and by the time I met Sin I was a gonner…. Told from dual POV it reads at a perfect pace, with the right blend of drama, smut, romance, suspense and conflict only to arrive at the perfect ending. With that I mean the author took story in a direction I hadn’t anticipated and was left wanting more, thrilled at the possibilities. I’m very much looking forward to book 2, The Next Sin for the continuation of their story.

Swoon-worthy and delectable hero! Complex and lovable heroine! Excellent storytelling! Addictive plot! All the ingredients for an impressive trilogy!
    “Into me … you see.”

Bleu has spent her whole life obsessed with getting back at her mother's killer. She has trained for it and prepared herself completely however, she didn't count on falling in love with the son of the killer. Originally using Sin as a way to get to the real killer (his father Thane), but fate had other things in mind. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this story thinking that at any moment Bleu was going to get in over her head, but she proved time and time again that she is ready for anything and true fighter. I couldn't even imagine how it would end. I liked the ending and anxiously await the continuation. I am so eager to see where this story will go and I have a feeling there is more to the story of her mom's murder than meets the eye. It is clear that Thane loved her and perhaps he shared a story with her mom similar to the one she and Sin are experiencing now???

All Bleu knew from an early age was to seek out who killed her mom and who tied to kill her and get revenge. Most of her life she trained to seek out who destroyed her life and kill him. She travels to Scotland to find this man but she knows she has to get to him through his son.
Sinclair only knows violence and definitely wasn't looking for a relationship with somebody, esp an outsider.
Bleu and Sinclair meet with no intentions of doing anything than use each other....let's see how that turns out.
Really loved this book, the story line, the suspense, the hot factor between Bleu and Sinclair, off to read book 2.

A Necessary Sin is the story of Bleu MacAllister, a young woman who as a child lost her mother to murder and was nearly killed herself. Bleu spends her childhood thirsting for revenge against the man she believes committed the murder, Scottish crime lord Thane Breckenridge. She spends her teen years under the tutelage of her adopted father a retired FBI agent learning how to become a assassin. When she is twenty-five, she decides that the time is right to infiltrate the "fellowship" and get her target via his son Sinclair Breckenridge.

This is a hard review to write because while I liked the premise of this book. An independent, strong, willful woman seeking justice on her own terms. The problem is that there are several plot points that just don't work for me. Bleu's age and naivety being foremost. I understand that the author has her "training" for this since she was twelve years old so we are supposed to take that as 13 years of experience but she is going up against a decades old crime family and seducing the son when she admits that to having zero experience with men. Pair that will her adoptive father being a retired FBI and his going along with this plan and the story goes over the line of believability for me.

The writing itself is good with a nice balance between character interaction and internal dialogue. The story switches back and forth between Bleus POV and Sin's POV so you can get a good idea of where each character is coming from. I did find Sin's character well done though a bit naive like Bleu. For someone who was groomed to be the crime syndicates leader from birth, Sinclair seems to fall for Bleu and trust her almost too easily.

At 228 pages this is a decent sized read for the start of a trilogy and includes a host of secondary characters that round out the story nicely and adds a few subplots that fill out the main story well.
