Not safe! The second book completely upset me. I hoped she would save everything for Gideon, in the end his father took it all.

Taking is the second book in the Forbidden Obsession duet.
Wanting (book 1) left us with quite a cliffhanger as Gideon is sent to prison and the evil Lloyd moves forward with his twisted plan.
Taking picks up 5 years later as Gideon is released from prison and has his own revenge agenda to enact. This book is a delicious combination of plot twists, revenge and love between two people that has to overcome 5 years of lies and horror.
Having Gideon and Addilyn find their HEA and Lloyd finding his much deserved end, was indeed the cherry on top of this dark, amazing duet.
Wanting (book 1) left us with quite a cliffhanger as Gideon is sent to prison and the evil Lloyd moves forward with his twisted plan.

After reaching the end of Wanting I instantly started looking forward to this second installment! I picked it up as soon as i could and got right back into this world. I enjoyed this second book in the Forbidden Obsession Duet!
Gideon and Addilyn's journey continues! I wasn't sure what all was going to happen next in their story which got me into this book even more. Once again i felt many things with both characters while reading.
With Taking, Ms.Burke has created such a good read! I'm looking forward to picking up more of her books soon!

This finishes with a bang! It's sexy hot as Gideon and Addi find their way back to each other. It's not all smooth sailing with these two. So much distrust but so much lust too. The author really turns up the heat in this installment and the violence. After doing his time on trumped up charges Gideon is ready for his revenge. But one of the people he thought did him dirty was a victim just like him. Poor Addi suffered so much. It's not for the faint of heart when her evil stepfather puts his son away to get his hands on teen Addi. It's fairly graphic but so are the sizzling sex scenes. Hotness when Gideon realizes who the real villains are, makes amends with Addi and finally has his way with her. If you like steamy with a side of rough and dirty this is for you. The vengeance is graphic too and boy does Ms. Burke has an evil bone or two with the brutal, bloody revenge even if it was deserving. I was cringing a couple of times. I like this author's storytelling and easy writing style even with the harsh brutality and sensitive subject matter. She also provides a really sexy romance with delicious characters that have a sweet side as a well as sensual. This is a fitting end to this terrific duo. Worth the read! 4.5 stars

Outstanding! Five stars... no, double that. Taking, the second installment of the Forbidden Obsession Duet, blew my mind. Taboo, hot, forbidden, steamy, verboten. It's all of these things, and oh, so good. It took me six hours to devour this book. I couldn't get enough of Addilyn and Gideon.
Addilyn has barely been surviving for the last five years. Gideon has been hanging on by a thread. They last saw each other under less than ideal circumstances, and it's time to face the fire they created. Whether it's the flames of revenge or lust remains to be seen.

Wow! Wow! Wow! After reading the first book in this duet, "Wanting", I desperately needed to see some revenge happen! And Ms. Burke gave me just what I needed. Revenge so dark and so sweet that I cheered! This story picks up around 5 years after the first book ended. I was kind of glad because I honestly didn't want to read what I KNEW Addilyn went through with her evil stepfather. Once Gideon gets out of prison for something he was basically set up for, he thinks he's going to get his revenge on Addilyn and his dad. That is until he realizes he still loves her and together they plot against the ones who betrayed both of them. I honestly thought that Gideon would have been more cruel towards Addilyn but I don't think that would have worked very well. Especially when he finds out what she's been through. This story is smoking hot and I loved how they worked together and made certain people pay. And the ending? Again............WOW!!!!! The ending was perfect for this story but you're gonna have to get the book and read it. It's dark (at least for me) but it's so good that I couldn't put it down!!!!

Taking is the second book in the Forbidden Obsession Duet, and boy does it go to the forbidden darker side of dark romance. I loved every minute of this wickedness. Gideon (MMC) is out of jail and wants revenge. His father, Lloyd, promises it was all Addilyn’s (FMC) doing that had put him in there and lets him know just where she is to seek his revenge. Lloyd (step-father) is the evil that Addilyn did not see coming in the first book. Addilyn does everything to avoid Lloyd in this book. Gideon does get his revenge just not the revenge his father expected him to get, or one I saw coming. Addilyn gets her revenge in a way I never saw coming and she gets her HEA. It may not be the ending you and I could imagine but it is her HEA, and that is all that matters. (TW 18+ MF -Taboo/Forbidden Dark Romance)

She betrayed him and he was sent away for five years. Now his plan is in motion and he has her right where he wants her, but she won't break because she's already broken.
Addilyn has lost everything. Her mother, her friends, her innocence, and her protector. But she refuses to give up her freedom again to her stepfather, the bastard who preyed on her as a teenager. The man Gideon warned her about. His own father. And she didn't listen. She betrayed him instead. Her guilt and depression have made her a shell of her former self and now Gideon's back to take his revenge and she wants in.
Gideon and Addilyn finally get their payback as they go all Bonnie and Clyde on the people who destroyed their lives. But first, they need to sate the passion and tension that has built up after all the lies and horror they have experienced. Gideon is a total bastard in this book, but there is no doubt he loves Addilyn and cannot hurt her. Addilyn grows stronger with Gideon's love as they work together to destroy the people who made their lives a living hell. They get their HEA as well as a shocking and well-deserved vengeance on Lloyd. Wow, what a cringeworthy scene!!!
This story puts you on the edge of your seat from the very beginning. A painfully dark romance with messy characters pushed to their limits who finally get a fitting and happy ending. Please read my review of Wanting to start from the beginning.

Book 2 left me speechless. This book starts off after Gideon is in jail for 5 years he is out wanting to get revenge on Addilyn. Meanwhile, Addilyn is suffering rape under the hands of Gideon's father. Who was married to Addilyn's mother. So technically Gideon and Addilyn are step siblings.
Well this story will take you on a journey of revenge. Once Gideon finds out what really happened to Addilyn, he comes alive and decides to hunts down his own father to get answers and revenge. Now this revenge is not the nice kind of revenge where the bad guy gets what his. This is brutal torture and you can feel Addilyn's pain.
This story will make you feel angry, pain, sorrow, hatred and disgust. Burke really is an incredible writer that weaves through the heart of the character's issues and shares their story through amazing words that come to life.
Burke has no become my one click author. Each book she writes is so completely different and raw. She allows her characters to feel and say what needs said. This is one of her best works.

The emotions in the book are gripping and you can’t help but feel everything these two go through and have experienced.

Addilyn had lived in her own hell for the past five years. Her life destroyed by the monster her mother brought into their home. She’s nothing but a shell of her prior self.

WOW this is book 2 in the series and man it gets so much more darker . Addilyn is all grown up and her mother is dead . Her step father is holding her inheritance hostage . Wanting what he took from her as a teen . Gideon is out of prison and wanting revenge on the young woman who put him in jail for assault and his step father who was well nothing to him . But when they meet she is the shell of the person she use to be and he well his heart wants what he has always wanted . Together they will do what they should of done ages ago . Will they survive to live another day .
The characters are so well written and complex . Addilyn is a shadow of herself, scared of everyone and will not date anyone . She is a lot stronger then she realizes and when she sees Gideon she really grows stronger with him. Gideon well he is a bastard and has such a hard edge to him . You want to hate him but deep down he has been hurt as badly Addilyn. Together they can take on the world and destroy all those that have wronged them both .
This is a story that will have you on the edge of your seat most of the way through. You really want to hate the main character but you don't he worms his way into your heart and you start to really like him. What a duet! I had a lot of expectations for this book yet the author managed to take it in a whole other direction which I absolutely loved!. This is my third book by this author and she just keeps getting better and better.

Let me just say this is such a fucked up book... But in the best possible way. Holy hell. I read this book straight through because I couldn't put it down! Its ADDICTIVE! The plot pulls you in and keeps you interested throughout the whole damn book. The first book in this series ended in a cliff hanger and this book followed that to perfection. Not only was the plot amazing but damn were these characters hot for each other! The sex scenes were 🔥 and will have you needing new undies for sure. Mhmm Gideon and his dirty talk.. wow! All I can say is revenge is sweet and so damn sexy! Overall an amazing ending to the duet!

Man did this book hit all the feels. Anger, Love, Tears, Heartbreak, Sorrow, Rage and HEAT!!! I was left heartbroken and angry with Wanting and now we get to see how it all comes to an end. I was literally on the edge of my seat reading this, nervous and scared but also had my heart racing at the super steamy scenes leaving me all hot and bothered. Oh and there is definitely a "she did not just do that" scene - absolutely LOVED it.
Definitely One-Click Worthy in my opinion without a doubt.

Wow….definitely left me speechless at times but oh so happy at the ending. Taking is the second book in the Forbidden Obsession Duet and must be read after Wanting. This one picks up roughly 5years after the first book but does go back at parts to piece what what during that time. I feel so much in my heart for all that Addilyn and Gideon went through. I’m sad that they lost 5years of their life thanks to some horrible people but revenge is oh so nice. It’s definitely a must read.

How the sinners pay for their sins - slow, sweet and swift- i love!
But why it take almost 50% of the book for Gideon and Addilyn realise the lies that has been whispers in their ears.
And the almost twist toward the end that has me perk up for how crazy it is? For how i wish the ending goes there, i question my own sanity😂

Imagine my glee when I received my first ARC for this book. Yay! The stage was set in the first book with a cliffhanger, so my expectations were high. The sequel delivered and was well written but anti-climatic. I loved the MCs, they both suffered due to the cruelty of others but I was just expecting more with the setup in the first book. I definitely will be reading more Lynn Burke books and I found me a book boyfriend in Gideon. *_*

Just wow what a consuming story of the continuation of Addilyn and Gideon's story that takes you on a ride never knowing what to expect.
There is sweet revenge that had me cheering and nervous all at the same time so much anticipation and danger that things are going to go wrong through the whole story had me sweating bullets lol.
I loved these characters Gideon and his princess Addilyn are perfectly matched in every single way and so so hot the scenes oh my are fire and I loved it.

The second in this duet is unbelievable.
I wasn't sure what to expect since there is a time jump but I was not disappointed.
Gideon and his princess are sure to bring you joy, fear and a sickly fun time.
This is VERY SPICY with a LOT OF TRIGGERS.

Taking is the conclusion to the Forbidden Obsession duet. It brings us 5 years into the future with Addylin trying to forge her own way and recover from the horrors of the past while still dealing with some monsters in the present. But she has more monsters after her than she knows. Gideon is out of jail and he's set on revenge, but Addylin is hardly the same girl he used to know. In Taking we finally get the outlet for all the explosive chemistry between Gideon and Addylin. It's so hot and so wrong yet so right for these two. They're perfect for each other. In addition to the steamy romance, there's an awesome tale of revenge. If Wanting left you ... wanting in that department, you'll be very pleased with how things play out. Overall, this is a very satisfying conclusion to the duet that delivered on all the dark romance goodness I adore!

Gideon is fresh out of prison and ready to play and let me tell you he knows how to play!!! He is out for vengeance and will stop at nothing to get it...
I honestly can't recommend this book enough, I highly recommend you read wanting first and dive into this brilliant story. You will not be disappointed!!!!

I honestly can't recommend this book enough, I highly recommend you read wanting first and dive into this brilliant story. You will not be disappointed!!!!

Pheww lord have mercy 😳I was not ready for this book at all, I thought I knew how it would go but babyyyyy 😳Gideon and Addilyn became my ultimate power couple. Both couples got their revenge with a side of happy ending and multiple happy ending in between. Author Lynn Burke came and conquer my mind, my subconscious with these two books, it's the thing I love about her writing style the most, when she slay her readers with her words, she SLAY👏🏿I don't know what other words to describe this book other than to say it's a phenomenal read that'll keep you on the edge of your seat for sure.
P.S. there is some warnings you should heed about this book, it's dark, it's depraved and it's deliciously dark. If it's not your cup of tea than please don't read it but if it is and I know for a fact you will fall in love than have it, you'll never regret giving these two books a chance 😈😁
