Varsity Dads #2

Tight Ends & Tiaras

Rate this book
Football is one hundred percent the focus of my life—until a squawking toddler, with a temper to rival my own, lands in my lap and flips my life upside down.

I’ll never be Dad of the Year. Anyone will tell you that. Except maybe Sienna, my sister’s former roommate, who somehow manages to make my broody ass laugh and sees something in me no one else does.

When Sienna offers to let me and my little princess move in with her, I’m not sure if it’s to help or because she wants revenge on my teammate and long-time rival, who broke her heart.

Either way, I’m game. Because I need to get my ex off my back, and Sienna doesn’t mind pretending to be my girlfriend.

Only neither of us is ready for the sparks that fly between us or the consequences when they do.

★ What you can expect:
- single dad
- small Texas town
- sports romance (football)
- college (seniors)
- fake dating
- friends to lovers
- diverse backgrounds
- slow burn but steamy!

“Sunshine. Eyes on me.”

Tight Ends & Tiaras is that classic angsty, but still somehow feel good, new adult romance that so many of us love. Ben and Sienna were friend adjacent, fake daters, friends with bennies, and then fell right into more. I honestly just enjoyed this story so much. I don’t want to spoil anything, so mainly I’ll say if you like sports, “surprise you’re a dad”, failed fake dating, angst, and steam, then you will love this book.

Possible TW: drunken violence, discussions of mental health, anxiety, discussions of loss of loved ones in the past, discussions of domestic abuse, attempted assault, small mention of pregnancy loss.

Tight Ends & Tiaras heads back to Lone Star State & we finally get the 411 on Sienna(Gabby’s bff & former roomie) & Ben (Gabby’s brother & Ryder’s former teammate). And as it turns out they weren’t secretly dating like I thought as secondary characters in Gabby & Ryder’s book, the Varsity Dad Dilemma(book 1 of the series). LM faked me out well. I thought for sure Ben was Sienna’s secret b/f.

Anyhoo…
It’s not that Gabby & Ryder were awful(I liked Gabby & Ryder was mostly fine), but Sienna & Ben were a clear improvement as far as I’m concerned. They had great chemistry & just felt more developed, but Ben particularly.
✎ Ben — His character arc appealed to me. He wasn’t a basic grump. His guards are up so high because of the traumas he went through in his childhood. Yet even with all the struggles he has stemming from back then, he wasn’t in denial & was actively doing something about it(therapy). It was a nice layer on top of the plot of a surprise baby sprung on him. Although things were strained & awkward between him & his sister, Gabby (in the first book especially) it was so sweet to learn he had looked out for her even though he didn’t bring it to her attention. Par for the course, yeah, he wasn’t perfect — he messed up some, but overall he was a genuinely good guy when all is said & done.
✎ Sienna — A clear sunshine to Ben’s grump(-ish)/serious side. Maybe a little extra on the sunny for me a time or two, but overall I liked Sienna though. Despite a privileged background, she felt down to earth, caring, & relatable. Her life’s not all perfect by any stretch. She had her own problems to work through too (including a literally painful split with one absolute asswipe of an ex, among other things). I liked the juxtaposition of her sunshine personality & how she still had things to figure out about school & what direction to go post-grad. Sometimes romance sunshines are written having it a little too together, so I thought was a nice little wrinkle. I loved how loyal she was to Ben as a friend all along & really cared for his daughter.

On the other side of it…
✎ Knowing what the series theme is now(surprise single dad), I keep thinking Lone Star State’s football team could use a required sex ed refresher on how to wrap it up 😂.
✎ tbh the whole repeating tropes as a series theme didn’t exactly excite me when I read TE&T’s synopsis prior to the release. Well, more of a specific niche trope theme I should say. — I don’t mind broader, more general running trope themes like sports, small town, college, etc. — It’s not so much a dislike of the surprise single dad trope, but it’s not one I seek out either. I’m not saying I’m skipping the rest or suggesting anyone should, but tbh if I didn’t find Lex’s writing as appealing as I do, I doubt I’d be very interested in the rest of the series. It just feels creatively limiting future couples & generally repetitive 🤷🏻‍♀️.
✎ The Angst. I do like some, but I think my max threshold of enjoying angst comparatively is probably mid-range to readers who love angst & can’t get enough. So yeah, TE&T is college romance — as you’d expect, there’s absolutely angst & I liked most of it. BUT like in the second half of TVDD, I just wish there were a few less sources of angst & there still would be enough good, juice drama imho.
✎ The crazy exes & his aunt. Obviously, we aren’t supposed to like their exes, so let’s just say well done on that note, LM 😉😂 . I realize his aunt & uncle didn’t know yet how terrible of a person Ben’s ex had become

What’s to come…
The next hero, Olly has been my favorite side character since book 1(Of the single guys that is, Tank has been off the market all along), so despite my reservations on the series theme, I’m still interested. Plus the little sampling of the heroine in this book, Maggie seems feisty, so I think I’m gonna like her. Olly is so charming & kinda adorkable, which makes me curious why there’s a contentiousness in their couple of interactions. If LM is truly going ETL, I hope she commits to more than a few chapters. It’s such a letdown when it ends so quickly.

so here's the problem with the book.

I saw a young heroine dealing with a lot of crap - taking care of all of the hero's problems for 90% of the book.

In the last 10% he magically solves her broken relationship with her dad who by the way is married to a girl who is a few years older than her. This girl befriended the heroine so as to get in her dad's pants.

At the end of the book, we see heroine's dad magically being supportive etc, now the young wife of the dad is pregnant and all the issues between the heroine and dad and the dad's new wife are magically healed.

GIVE ME A BREAK. The dad forgot her birthday. Would boss her around and the new wife would too. LIKE there is no way this could have been solved this easily. I don't like the message this book is giving -forgiveness isn't easy and it has to be earned. I never saw the dad or his new wife earn the heroine's forgiveness.

I did enjoy Sienna and Ben the hero - though they were great characters. I just didn't appreciate how the author gave more importance to the hero's problems than the heroines. Also I really liked how both the hero and heroine are latinx, really nice to see.

So the fact that this is a series [and the next one is called Baby Blitz] leads me to believe that every single member of this college football team is going to impregnate someone/become a parent? That doesn't scream romantic, that screams a desperate lack of sexual education in the american schooling system but idk

I love Lex Martin's romances and I've been loving listening to this series on audio! We saw a bit of the hero in book one since that one was about his sister. Ben is a football player and he's determine to get his degree and go pro after his senior year. But when his ex shows up, the last thing he expects is for her to tell him her daughter is actually his and not the guy's who she cheated on him with. Ben doesn't know what to do, but he knows he doesn't want to get back together with his ex, who is not-so-subtly hinting at that. Ben asks Sienna to act like his girlfriend, but little does he know Sienna has had a crush on him for years since she's best friends with his sister. I love a good fake dating story and I loved how they both had feelings before they even started fake dating. Ben was an adorable dad and Sienna just fit into his life so well. This does has other woman drama with his ex trying so hard to get back into his life and manipulating so many people, so definitely know that going in if that's something you don't like. But this was such a sweet romance and a lot of it had to do with Ben's football career as well, which I'm always a fan of with sports romances. This has so many tropes I love and I definitely recommend picking up this series!!

October 2021 was the last time I read a book and even then, it had been a long time since I really enjoyed reading. But a couple of days ago I got a copy of Tight Ends & Tiaras by Lex Martin, and I remembered Sienna and Ben so I was curious about this novel. The author did her magic once again. This book reminded me why I love reading. I read every minute I could and I even read past my bedtime. I felt with Sienna and Ben, and I rooted for them. Tight Ends & Tiaras was emotional, funny, adorable, hot, sporty, addictive and romantic. It brought sunshine into my life.

If you have read The Varsity Dad Dilemma, you already know Sienna and Ben. But there is still so much to discover about those two. Ben is caring, supportive, loyal, sporty, smart and determined. He studies hard and works hard to be the best tight end ever. Ben has scars from his past and this affects his present, so he wants to be there for his friends and sister. He does whatever he can. Ben is such a sweetheart with Sienna. It’s sweet how he wants to be romantic and be different for her.

Sienna is calm, smart, caring, sporty and determined. She has her wounds, but she doesn’t let anyone see them, so she’s strong. Sienna is a girl with dreams and doesn’t give up, but she also helps others whenever she can. She’s someone everybody should have as a friend. I want her as a best friend. I’m so happy that she has Ben. They are truly perfect for each other. They feel each other. They calm each other. They love each other. But they also have difficult moments, but they grow closer because of it.

They are other characters in Tight Ends & Tiaras that you will love or you will hate. The author made me feel every emotion in this book and that’s why it’s one of my favorite books this year. But back to the characters.. There are quite a lot of secondary characters, but they never took over the story. The focus was on Ben and Sienna, and their love story. There will be a third book in the series. You will get a hint whose book it will be.. Can I have it already tomorrow, pretty please?

Read it. Love it. Let the sunshine in.

"Nothing is worth losing you."
Wow! My second read by this author and I'm officially hooked. Great chemistry and angst kept me turning the pages, but it was the way these New Adult characters made mistakes and then learned and grew from them that gave this book its heart.

I'll absolutely continue the series!

This whole book was a whole lot of swoon. Although maybe I should preface this with the fact Lex Martin could write toilet paper and I would pre-order it. And the previous book in this story was a five-star read so I went into this with high expectations, and they were met.

So, both of these characters were introduced in the last book but they can be read as complete stand-alones. I felt like I didn't know these characters at all once we got to see them as the main characters. Because both had so much going on under their surfaces. And then throw in a surprise baby and things get even deeper.

Ben and Sienna were perfect for each other. Both had genuinely good hearts that made me want nothing but rainbows and sunshine for them. And watching them deal with all the drama that was thrown their way made me want it even more. Each of them had been through so much and they worked so hard to improve themselves.

I couldn't put this book down and I can't wait for the next one. I wish I could start it again for the first time.

Second book in the series Varsity Dads by Lex Martin. The book is about Sienna and Ben. Sienna former roommate Gabriella was the FMC of the first book and Ben, the MC of this book, is her brother.

I loved the story. We learn so much more about Sienna but also about Ben. I loved that Gabriella and Rider get a Cameo. And Gabriella never has a problem that Sienna and Ben are an item.
Lex writes her main and side characters well. I had a hate at first sight relationship with Ben's Ex. I didn't like the family who adopted Ben (but not Gabriella) but they kind of redeemed themself a bit at the end.

Ben and Sienna's romance is rich with emotion, wrought with feels, achingly sweet and seductively spicy. These two just seem made for each other from start. However, that doesn't mean things are smooth sailing ahead because they absolutely are not! I found it so easy to care about these characters because they each have some very relatable and realistic baggage and issues that they carry. The well-crafted story quickly pulled me in and had all my emotions in play because as much as I loved Sienna and Ben, there were other characters I hated in equal measure. So, be prepared for the emotional workout headed your way. In the end this book left me feeling all kinds of sappy and swoony and I loved that. This is the second book in the Varsity Dads series, and it reads just fine as a standalone. Do yourself a favor though and check out The Varsity Dad Dilemma if you want to learn all about Gabby (Ben's sister) & Rider's story) and simply because it was an awesome book. This is my independent, impartial review.

This one was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I’m finding romance hard at the minute as everything is either very samey or out to shock. But I remember reading the first one in this series and I really enjoyed it so I thought why not give this one a go?

First off this series revolves around a group of college football guys that wind up being fathers in one way or another. What’s not to love? Surprise pregnancy is one of my favourite tropes especially when it’s in a high school or college setting.

So onto the story we go. We meet Ben & Sienna who have had crushes on each other for a while but neither have been willing to make a move because Sienna is Ben’s sisters BFF. Besides, Sienna has a boyfriend. All be it a disgusting pig of a boyfriend. Anyways, fast forward to one booty call and a cancelled flight later and Sienna & Ben find themselves in uncharted territories.

There’s a dodgy ex, a baby mama with a grudge, a meddling family and a friendship group that’s got banter for days.

The things I didn’t love were the lack of the actual ‘dad’ portion of the story. There wasn’t a huge amount of time spent building a relationship with Lily, which for me is huge deal. I want these hot hunks of guys to make my ovaries burst as they coo and chuckle over their precious bubbas. Unfortunately that wasn’t the endgame here. Instead its focus was more on the instalove feelings between Ben and Sienna that they’d both hidden for so long. There was also the interfering family and scheming ex who both kind of walked all over Sienna at points- she did finally find her spine at the end of the book however.

Ben’s a hot dude but we never get to peel away his layers, we get some sexy scenes but he’s really just a bit of page candy with a surprise baby to deal with. Sienna is a typical fc she has daddy issues, a little insecure and needs a protector. It really takes a lot to impress me with an fc and unfortunately Sienna didn’t have what it takes.

It wasn’t as fun or as sexy as the first book. But ultimately I enjoyed it.

Hot damn y'all, Ben and Sienna were 🔥🔥🔥.

As is usually the case with Lex Martin books - I fell into this one effortlessly. Sienna's storyline grabbed my heart and my attention and I loved the way Ben so naturally eased his way into her life. There was a fair amount of drama - which kept things interesting and occasionally frustrating - but the whole package of Tight Ends and Tiaras was an absolute delight to read.

I adored Sienna. She was strong, level-headed, and so kind. Her heart was bruised, but she still managed to keep it wide open and loving. I sometimes wished for a little more emphasis on the emotional connection she had with Ben, but that's just who I am as a reader and not necessarily a fault of the book itself. Their physical chemistry absolutely burned up the pages, and was layered with sweet emotion. Little Lily helped add depth to that and I think we can all agree that there is nothing more sexy than a protective single dad, and Ben totally nailed the part.

In the end, I loved this story. I loved the love story, I loved the knuckle-headed sidekicks (and am hoping maybe Olly is up next because some intriguing groundwork was laid here), and I loved the way it lit me up inside, kept a smile on my face, and tugged at my heartstrings. I cannot wait for more from this sexy, sweet sports romance series! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

Another Lex Martin's work at its finest.

This author's ability to always make me encounter a new favorite book is incredible.
Since The Varsity Dad Dilemma (the first book in this series), I'm excited to read Ben and Sienna's story, and it was even better than I expected (and my expectations were already crazy high).

Ben and Sienna were deep and complex. Every nook, every new aspect we learned about them, every time their layers were uncovered and we discovered a little secret about what made them who they were, every fear and dream they had were beautifully created and intricated in a marvelous plot.

Ben was absolutely swoony. In all his grumpy and moody glory, he was a beautiful surprise of love and devotion. He was respectful, considerate, and damn was he sexy.
Sienna was magnificent. She was a source of happiness and calm. She was strong and she stood up for herself when needed, but never viciously. Sienna had the skill to say her piece with grace and emphasis.
I think that's the word that could describe her: she's graceful.

Ben and Sienna's love story was a masterpiece.

3.25 ⭐It took me more than a month to read this! I don't know what it was that made that happen. I wanted to love this one so much, but something kept me from enjoying it as much as I wanted. That being said, it wasn't a bad book by any means, so it still gets a 3.25 stars.

If Lex Martin wants this story to captivate me, I'm going to tell her that she is success in her job. Da**, I enjoyed reading Gabby and Ryder in "The Varsity Dad Dilemma" so much but I enjoyed reading and love Ben and Sienna's "Tight Ends and Tiaras" more!

Ben and Sienna's story is friends to lovers combined with fake relationship sports romance and it has a lot of dramas and angsts from both Ben's and Sienna's sides. I got to know Ben from the first book and he has come along way from being that guy. But what surprised me in this book is Sienna. She has more of her to offer and while she might think she's lucky to have Ben in her corner, I think Ben is a lucky one who has her in his corner too. I have to confess that I've sensed Ben and Sienna would end up together since I read "The Varsity Dad Dilemma" because their chemistry is easily spot on but I don't think their love story would be so good I can't put it down. Aside from two persons get closer and form their friendships which mope to be so much more, the story also gives a suspense vibe because Sienna has a secret which she doesn't share with anyone. I like Sienna. She has her family issue but she becomes stronger and independent. Ben seems to hell-bent on not giving in to his ex but he is naive and has a lot more of faith in her than he should which cause Sienna and his heartbreak. I want to smack his head sometimes and I cry for Sienna a lot. I feel you, girl. She deserves someone who can finally put her first.

I've tried to sleep early for my health lately but I can't put this book down until I make it to the end. I want to make sure that Sienna finally gets her own happy ending. I really love the concept of this series though, hot jocks with babies and good girls who are quite nerd and it's getting better and better.

Ben and Sierra are everything I hoped they would be after reading Varsity Dad Dilemma, and so much more! Ben, our broody but oh so swoony hero; and Sienna, our adventurous sunshine heroine, will make you fall in love with this book! Throw in a little cutie, Lily, and some crazy friends, Johnny and Olly, and this one is a winner!! Not to mention the steam factor…hellllooooooo!! Amazing, simply amazing!

Lex Martin is really doing it with this series. You really cannot go wrong with: POC characters done right and a whole baby thrown into the mix. Plus sports? college? yea this was pure gold. pure pure gold. I really vibed with this book, it was a book I read in one sitting. I genuinely was sad when I had to put it down because I was devouring it. Also holy spice? i was shook because while this book is dramatic, emotional and sweet the spice caught me off guard. I’m really excited to see where she takes the rest of the series *prayer circle we get actual pregnancy romances* but yea. I vibed hard with this. Possibly one of the best college romance series out there.

Lex Martin always makes me fall in love with her characters and this is no exception, this story made me laugh, sigh, and swoon, Ben and Sienna were perfection.
Ben needs someone to help him get his ex off of him and also a place to stay with his little todler, when Sienna offers him her house and fake a relationship Ben accepts, everything seems great but what starts pretending ends up being real because for both it is impossible to deny what they feel for the other, and the sparks that fly every time they are together, their scenes are pure fire. I loved the banter between them, and I love how cute they are together and how sweet Sienna is with Lili. But intrigues begin to complicate everything, and we are going to say that their path to happiness is not the easiest, both are insecure and have been betrayed and that complicates the relationship even more.
Tight ends & tiaras is sooo good, the perfect mix of steamy, fun and cute all wrapped up in a dose of angst. And of course I cannot wait for Olly and Magnolia, so excited! Highly recommended for fans of:

This is by far my favorite Lex Martin book, EVER. omg, the feelings here were just so top notch from the very beginning, and the connection between Sienna and Ben is just absolutely beautiful! Plus I'm such a sucker for fake relationship romances but this one was so different and just -- it was my Crack, ok? This is fake relationship romance crack and that's how it should be marketed.🤣🤣

Sienna and Ben have been friendly enough since she's close friends with Ben's sister, but it isn't until he comes to her rescue after finding her boyfriend in a compromising position with three other women, one of whom was her supposed best friend. Because of this they form such a close friendship, and when Ben needs help when he finds out that he's a father to the most adorable little girl-- one he had no idea existed thanks to a manipulative ex -- these two lean on each other and form such a beautiful friendship that quickly turns into a once in a lifetime love .. if only they can keep all the obstacles in their way from destroying it.

There's so much I want to say here, but I truly believe it's best to just go in this with no preconceived notions and just enjoy the pure beauty of these characters. I really enjoyed the first book of this series, but this is on a whole other level!! These two just fit together so well, and seeing Ben step into the daddy role so effortlessly made my ovaries stand up and say hello on numerous occasions. Plus the sexy times were well, sexy.🔥🔥🔥

I'm so looking forward to reading more books in this series! Trust me when I say that this is one of my favorite reads of the year!

If you're in the mood for a sports college fake relationship romance with ALL the feels, this is definitely for you!!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **

5 Star review Tight Ends & Tiaras (Varsity Dads) by Lex Martin

Lex Martin is a new author to be and I cannot believe that I have not come across this author before. When I read the blurb for Tight Ends & Tiaras (just love the name) I couldn’t wait to dive in.
I really enjoy single parent stories and found this to be an entertaining read with characters whose story I quickly became invested in. Ben and Sienna (and baby Lili) were easy to relate to and I was cheering for them to get their happily ever after.
Pretending to be Ben’s girlfriend to help him get an ex off his back, she has no idea how that decision will change her life. The chemistry between them is intense and I loved the witty banter that flew between them. Particularly heart warming is the love that she feels for Lili.
There was humour, steam and plenty of entertainment which made for a fun read. This may be my first book by Lex Martin, but it will not be my last.

AHHHH I LOVED this book!! It had amazing tropes I love and the characters are just *chefs kiss*.

BEN:
After reading The Varsity Dad Dilema it was amazing to see such a different side to Ben. I really enjoyed reading about Bens journey with his therapist and him working through his problems to better his mental health.

SIENNA:
I have loved sienna since the previous book! She’s so sweet, supportive, and optimistic — everything that Ben needs. She has no reason to trust again after what happened with Cal but Ben makes her so happy and makes her feel good about herself in ways that Cal never did 🥹

*RANT* JANELLE: (SPOILERS?)

I have a few choice words for Janelle. She was so selfish and manipulative!! I swear she made me want to throw my phone over a bridge 😐 UGH It’s not even the fact that she was so ugly to Ben and Sienna BUT SHES A HORRIBLE MOM UGH my therapist will be hearing about this… thank you for coming to my Ted Talk 😮‍💨

3 Ben and Sienna Stars

This was an ok read.

Sporty , College romance , single parent , fake relationship that becomes more.

Both Sienna and Ben are likeable and both are navigating life changing experiences. Ben is doing his best as a new single Dad and Sienna is getting over being cheated on by her boyfriend with her best friend. (Really well written scene where she catches them).

Plenty of drama and for the most part I enjoyed it but at times it felt like Ben was using Sienna as a babysitter.

I have been waiting for Ben and Sienna’s story and I loved every single moment of their story.
Ben and Sienna are friends, they live across the street from each other, Sienna is best friends with Ben’s sister and he promised to keep an eye on her. There is a connection between the two of them that neither of them wants to act on. Yet, things slowly start to change between them.

I love Ben. He is a college athlete, a good one at that. Yet, with the events of his childhood he is dealing with anxiety, panic attacks, and he is over cautious at times when it comes to situations that can be dangerous. I loved the growth of his character throughout he story, not just from the therapy, but with the support and comfort that Sienna brings to his life. I loved Sienna, too. She grew up wealthy, but doesn’t act like it. She is far from it and doesn’t want anyone to know. She is somewhat the black sheep of her family, but she is living the life she wants and that life that makes her happy.

The chemistry between Ben and Sienna is great. I love their friendship. I love how protective they both are of each other. They both proved time and time again that they are always going to be there for each other. Though, things may not always be perfect between the two of them, they truly do trust each other.

Sweet little Lily. She is just adorable. I loved seeing the bond between Lily and Ben form and grow throughout the story. The two of them were adorable. I also loved Lily and Sienna and the bond they shared together.

Lex Martin knows what she is doing with this series! This is the second book in the Varsity Dads series, where we follow Ben and Sierra this time. Let me tell you, I loved them!!
This book ticks all the trope marks, POC characters, college romance, sports romance, single dad, fake dating. All the things I love thrown into one book, there was no way that I couldn’t love this, I knew from the start this was going to be a new favourite book of mine!

I really loved the characters in this book, we see both our MC’s struggling with relationships in the past, knowing they had to overcome that before they could really be with each other. Throw in a surprise baby in the mix and all the drama will ensure, and let me tell you it was so much fun to see this book unfold from start to finish.
Ben, he comes across as a playboy, tough and hard but really he has the biggest heart and so much love to give. Seeing how he developed into the sweetest and most caring dad for his daughter took me out. I loved it. And seeing his love develop for Sienna? Urgh I just love this man!
Sienna, she is a sunflower, a sunshine girl and I loved her! She also has her own hurdles to overcome and I loved seeing her development throughout the book. I think her and Ben just work perfectly together and really balance each other out.

I really liked the plot and pacing off this book, it all was written so smoothly and once I started this book I was sucked in to this world and just couldn’t stop till I got to the end, and I just love that about Lex Martin’s books.

Tight Ends & Tiaras is a one sitting read, with a fun cast of characters with lots of crazy drama and equally swoony & spicy moments mixed in! I highly recommend if you are looking for a new fun college romance to read!

*I was kindly given an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

What can I say about this book? Tight Ends & Tiaras brings one of those adorable clichés that enchants you from the very first pages. This is the second book in the Varsility Dad series and tells the story of Sienna and Ben. This book brings a sports romance adding fake dating, friends for lovers and single dad.

This book could easily be one of those afternoon session movies where it has angst, drama, sweet moments, hot scenes and charismatic characters. I really liked the book, Sienna and Ben's relationship was well developed, I loved their moment with little Lilly, just the drama with the exes that irritated me a little and I think it could have been less. I hope this series doesn't end here and we can see the story of the other characters that appeared here.

This series is so phenomenal! I was so blown away by the first book and as soon as I started this one I was equally impressed.

The author's writing style really struck a chord with me. I took such a liking to it. It is smooth and honest and never boring. Martin knows how to wrap the reader up in all the feels. New Adult sports romance is definitely a strong suit for her. I have definitely found a new favorite author. The author's impeccable evolution of the plot is also worth mentioning. I was so engrossed in this story and I didn't want to stop reading to continue adulting when the occasion arose to do so. Her writing is also very atmospheric. I felt like I was experiencing the story right along with the characters.

These characters won my heart over tenfold. I wanted to permanently affix myself in their orbit. I didn't think that any new characters could top Rider and Gabby but Ben and Sienna were equally as awesome. They were so easy to connect with. I also love the squad goals nature of the secondary characters in the series. This book's secondary characters are the next book's main characters though. I love how close-knit they all are.

The romance in this book was a little quick to develop but when you know, you know, I guess. While the romance was quick to emerge, it didn't feel forced or at all like instalove. Ben and Sienna shared a real and significant connection and circumstances in their lives simply brought them together quickly. They had sweltering chemistry and there was so much sexual tension. They were just so perfect for each other. I loved Ben's inner monologue because he was so romantic in his thoughts about Sienna.

Overall, this is an addicting New Adult sports romance with no holds barred writing, characters that bring on all the feels, and a plot that is enormously entertaining. I am so glad that I don't have to wait long for the third book in this series to release because I am salivating for it!
