She has a way of distilling real life into her writing that makes you never want to put the book down. Donovan and Autumn share a magical bond. A single fateful encounter propels their lives onto a trajectory beyond their wildest dreams. The depth of emotion and poignancy in this story caught me unprepared. The narrative is exceptionally crafted, with twists and turns that provide an exhilarating emotional journey.
The chemistry between Donovan and Autumn was palpable, leaping off the pages with an electrifying force. It was clear that this couple harbored a fierce lust for each other, and I read on eagerly until they succumbed to their mutual attraction. Like most Vi Keeland books, I really enjoyed the unique way the main characters met! I appreciate how Vi always seems to give her characters quirks, and in this book, Donovan’s conversations with his plants made for a few giggles! It wasn’t all laughs with Donovan though. His straightforward and sometimes blunt mouth could be kind of spicy at times! Add that with the tatted forearms and I was pretty much a goner!

I found it hard to connect with these characters initially, more so Autumn since she was more closed off about her past than Donovan was. As Autumn and Donovan opened up to each other, I was able to connect with them a bit more. I sympathized with how Donovan struggled as a child and I admired how he saw those struggles in Storm and tried to take him under his wing. I adored Autumn’s thirst for knowledge but I disliked how she tried forcing herself into certain situations that weren’t all that likeable, when at the same time there were more appealing options that she fought against.
Overall, this book didn't knock me off my feet like some of Vi Keeland's other books have but it was still a good read!
