She’s his little sister’s best friend—totally off limits. But then again, this tattooed bad boy has never followed the rules.

Maddie:

I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t in love with Nathan Burns. We met when I was six and twenty years later, I love him still. But he’ll never see me as anything other than his little sister’s best friend—a pest—if he even thinks of me that much. I’ve got to face facts. He’s not into me. He’ll never be into me.

It’s beyond time to move on.

Nathan:
I swear I blinked and my little sister’s best friend—a woman who’s about as off-limits as it can get—grew up. And she’s hot as hell. When did that happen? And it doesn’t help that she’s everywhere now—at our weekly family dinner nights, sleeping on my brother’s couch next door, lying out in our complex’s swimming pool in a barely-there bikini. And who are these losers hanging around her lately? None of them are worthy of the woman she’s become. Then again, neither am I.

And when I stumble across her profile on a hook up app, all bets are off.

Another great addition to the Burns Brothers!

Maddie’s life was a mess and she’s just barely holding on. Add the fact that her friends are all in amazing relationships and living happy lives, had her confidence taking a beating. I appreciated that despite experiencing those lows, she stayed strong and kept plowing onwards.

I was worried that Nathan’s sudden awareness of Maddie, after knowing her for years, would not be believable. That’s the biggest struggle I have with this trope. And while it was a rather sudden event for Nathan, everyone around him had seen it coming for a long time. And that sudden moment that might feel contrived, ended up being so wonderfully fun and smexy and got Nathan’s motor running in a way that everything else just fell away.

There’s a lot going on in this story on every level of both Nathan’s and Maddie’s lives as well as together. At moments the angst ratchets up pretty high and I found myself teary eyed with a knot in my chest. This also has moments of humor and wit and all of it interwoven with passion that lit the pages up with a blistering heat.

It feels like it's been forever since I read the other Burns brother’s books. And I have to say I picked this up not really remembering what had happened in those earlier books. But as I started reading it all came flooding back to me and I sat with bated breath wanting to know what was going to happen.

Maddie and Nathan's story was a semi typical little sisters best friend. Except it was in the Burns brothers motorcycle building, reality show, world. Full of testosterone and ego, each of the brothers has had me falling in lust with them in each book.

Nathan was an awesome hero. I really loved everything about him once he looked up and saw Maddie in a new light. Maddie kind of frustrated me a little bit. I got that she had a lot of things going wrong in her world but she was a little self-absorbed. And she took everyone’s opinion of what was happening rather than appreciating the help she was getting.

I love these books. Each one has added a little more on the one before it. While still being a stand-alone all about the individual couple, with a few great secondary characters. They have great chemistry and emotions and I get completely lost in every single one of them.

I loved Maddie and Nathan's story.
It was amazing and fun.
I just love the Burns brother. Anger issues and a strong family bond.
I hope there will be another book for the youngest brother.

Maddie has been in love with Nathan since they were kids, but to him she was just another little sister. Then his eyes are opened and they start dating and fall in love. It wasn't that easy though. There's family drama...lots of family drama...works issues, friends, but it all works out in the end with a little help from Shakespeare.

Dylan, Dylan, Dylan...the last brother and boy has he gotten himself into a big mess.

Torque is a stand-alone novel part of a family series: The Burns Brothers Series by Gillian Archer.

Gillian Archer is a new to me author and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to read this book because without the recommendation, I don’t think this book would have been on my radar.

Torgue is about Maddie and Nathan. Nathan is one of the Burns brothers. As this is a series, it’s clear from the beginning of reading this book that the prior three novels were about the other brothers. There was enough background information provided regarding the secondary characters that I don’t feel it’s required to read the prior three novels.

The Burns brothers own a motorcycle repair shop together that is featured on a nationally aired reality TV show. The show features the brothers living their crazy life, their interactions that are naturally funny to viewers and their antics in the shop. I found that part of the book adorable and could see this being a show as there are several shows out now that have this premise.

Maddie (Madison) is best friends with Dylan, Nathan’s younger brother, his sister Sabrina and essentially like a little sister to Nathan because she is considered to be family by all of them. Nathan’s parents died tragically leaving his aunt to have raised him she and his three brothers. Maddie is even like a daughter to her. That all being said, Maddie has had a crush on Nate for as long as she can remember. She’s always had a thing for her best friend’s brother and never saw him as a brother the way she saw the other Burns brothers. Still, Nate never showed any interest in her that way. Nate always saw Maddie as his little sister.

She decides to move on from him and date. We also see glimpses into the life of her job as a librarian, Nate’s family dynamics, and see the relationship build from both Nate and Maddie’s POV.

I found this book enjoyable, especially during the last 60%. The story is low angst in terms of the relationship. There are straight forward adult conversations here and the drama comes regarding other aspects of their life. The book does include levels of thrilling moments and a climax I enjoyed.

I would recommend this for those who want a low angst, realistic relationship read and those who love best friend’s brother’s books.

I received an advance review copy from NetGalley. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Torque by Gillian Archer is the fourth book in the Burn Brother’s Series. The series follows a family of brothers and sisters (who are really cousins). There are anger issues, brawling and a custom motorcycle shop along with a TV series based on the motorcycle shop and the brothers. Each book is about another member of the family.

The novel, Torque is about Nathan, someone who is angry most of the time. Hot tempered and on edge, he is all about taking care of his family. Maddie has known Nathan forever ( at least since she was 10) Her best friend’s older brother and Maddie has had a crush on him forever. Nathan has been clueless until he “really saw her” in a bikini at the pool. Suddenly he sees her.

The story does have some problems like the local biker gang, secrets and big time struggles with starting a new relationship but keeping it a secret. Nathan and his brothers fighting just adds to the drama. Torque by Gillian Archer was a good read.

Triggers: Hidden because they may contain spoilers.

The Burns brothers are back at it. This time, Nathan is trying to figure out why they agreed to do the TV show. It's one thing to have people film them while they work, it's another thing to have it be scripted. Nathan knows that his brothers think he doesn't listen to them, but he's just trying to show them how much he cares.

Maddie has loved Nathan since she was six years old. The years haven't diminished her crush either. When she finds herself in need of a new place, new job, and all-around new direction, she turns to her best friend, Dylan. Dylan and she are very close, but he also lives right next to Nathan. It's a small kind of hell that Maddie is living right now. She knows that Nathan has never and will never see her as more than his sister's best friend.

What happens when a dating app and sexual tension enter the equation? Things heat up fast. Nathan's eyes are sprung open, and Maddie is hoping beyond all hope than her life will start to go right.

With danger lurking around the Burns brothers, Maddie is sucked right in. It will take all of their strength to come together and solve this, but Nathan and Maddie are willing to see if their chemistry can turn in to something so much more.

Maddie and Nathan speak different languages and sometimes, that can lead to miscommunications. Let's just say that everyone in the book speaks different languages and they all have to figure out how to communicate the same language before someone gets seriously hurt.

I can't wait for the next book!

Maddie has been in love with Nathan for as long as she can remember but Nathan doesn't know she exists other than as his sister's friend. When she decides it's time to move on and try to forget him, she joins a dating app.

Nathan gets the shock of his life when he goes on the dating app for a night of fun and finds Maddie there. He can't believe his eyes. When did she grow up? And he can't believe the answers she gives to the profile questions. He doesn't know if he should scold her or take her out.

This story has a lot going on with the Burns brothers, Dillon is MIA most of the time, the other brothers are trying to make the show work while the producer wants them to bicker and fight. And the producer wants them to hire a bimbo receptionist just because two of the brothers are single. While Nathan is fed up with the producer and his antics, he doesn't want the show to end. He is worried about Dillon though.

I really liked this story, the heat between Nathan and Maddie was good but not off the charts. He was a playboy and it seemed overnight he was a one-woman man. All because he realized Maddie had grown up. This is a really good series, and you can read each story as a standalone or read them in order.

Some books need a little time to get you sucked in their stories. Some books get you obsessed since the first page.

This one, for me, unfortunately, wasn't either.

We are thrown in the scene and it was very fast paced. I read a couple chapters (which are really short) and I was already at 11 %.
For so little pages this book contained a lot. Like A LOT a lot.

This is two, three short chapters in.
So much drama, so little details. I feel like everything is a continuation of the previous books and for someone who didn't read said books this was just too much. Not enough background, I had to figure it all out myself.

Ugh, this could be a great book but it just fell flat.

No stars.

One Hot Brother!!

The Burns brothers are all equally as hot, each in their own way. Nathan is the one that Maddie never saw or felt as a brother though. She had more or less grown up with the Burns family with Sabrina and Dylan being her best friends but it was Nathan she had always secretly crushed on. Now years later it’s Nathan that has his attention drawn to the hot babe in a bikini by the pool. Once he discovers its Maddie he now takes his blinders off and actually “sees” her.

The family drama in this book was great with running a business together while being filmed as a series for t.v. it took on a life of its own. It’s all the secrets that brought this book to the edge so that I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry was intense and the friendships were heartwarming. I loved this book and can’t wait to see who Dylan wants to hire for their custom shop receptionist!! I’m hooked on the Burns boys.

Torque (Burns Brother book 4)
By: Gillian Archer

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

She’s sweet, he’s her best friends bother!

I'm honored to have been introduced to this amazing authors books. The one thing about this book I enjoyed was it keeps you wondering what’s next.

We get taken on a odds are against them love story in the Fourth book in the series from a great author. Two people who are protecting there hearts and those they love. Both are always putting others first and carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders just in very different ways. Nathan is hot headed and kinda bulldozes through life. Maddie is shy and needs to believe in her self worth. Can they be each other’s missing piece. OR...Will the opinions of family around them tear them apart.

Written as a stand-alone but reading the previous 3 books will enhance the reading experience.

Authors Blurb: She’s his little sister’s best friend—totally off limits. But then again, this tattooed bad boy has never followed the rules.

Maddie:
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t in love with Nathan Burns. We met when I was six and twenty years later, I love him still. But he’ll never see me as anything other than his little sister’s best friend a pest if he even thinks of me that much. I’ve got to face facts. He’s not into me. He’ll never be into me.
It’s beyond time to move on.

Nathan:
I swear I blinked and my little sister’s best friend a woman who’s about as off-limits as it can get grew up. And she’s hot as hell. When did that happen? It doesn’t help that she’s everywhere now at our weekly family dinner nights, sleeping on my brother’s couch next door, lying out in our complex’s swimming pool in a barely-there bikini. And who are these losers hanging around her lately? None of them are worthy of the woman she’s become. Then again, neither am I. And when I stumble across her profile on a hook up app, all bets are off.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

I was given an ARC for an honest review. Two stars out of five. (my rating system: [one star = no.] [two stars = meh] [three stars = okay] [four stars = yes.] [five stars = wow!]) Torque is book four in the Burns brother series and can be read as a standalone.

This is my first book from Gillian Archer, I haven't read the previous Burn Brothers novels. Perhaps if I had, the context would have given the book more depth but unfortunately Torque wasn’t my cup of tea. The female lead is more timid/weaker than my usual female MC preference. For example, even Madison is aware of her pushover tendencies, “No matter how much I tried, I always turned into a doormat-letting anyone and everyone get their way.” I had to take multiple pauses/breaks from reading because it felt too cringey to continue. Overall it felt too rushed and insta love for me.

Plot Summary:
Madison Roberts has had her eye on Nathan Burns ever since she moved down the street from him and his big family at the young age of six. Twenty years later she finally acknowledges it’s time to move on and that he'll never see her as more than his little sister’s best friend. She decides to start small just to get back into the groove of things and with a little liquid courage she creates a profile on a hookup app. Coincidentally, Nathan is clueless and surprised to realize he suddenly sees the woman Maddison has turned out to be. He stumbles across Madison’s profile and comes to terms with his attraction to her and anonymously messages her…
Madison is heavily involved with the Burns family. How will anything more than friendly with Nathan affect their family dynamic? Along with the possibility of her change of relationship status, Madison is struggling with other aspects of her life including housing issues, job security, one of her best friend's unusual withdrawnness, and falls victim to harassment from an MC.

That being said I read Torque in one day. If you’re looking for an easy fast paced read with some steamy scenes along with more plot than just romance (or if you enjoyed any of the previous Burn Brothers novels) you should give this a try!

Even without reading any of the previous books in the series, I was instantly hooked on Torque! And I can definitely say I’ll be going back to read the previous books.

I loved almost all of the characters in this book! Maddie was someone that I definitely saw a little bit of myself in. She was a bit of a pushover - and I can totally relate unfortunately. But at least we’re self aware pushovers. I really liked how the author dealt with her development through Torque, and by the end she was starting to learn how to stand her ground.

Nathan was a bit of a flawed hero, and again I liked how his issues were dealt with throughout the story. He was working to better himself, and his friends and family weren’t afraid to put him in his place. The one thing I wasn’t 100% sold on was how fast his feelings for Maddie appeared. He went from seeing her as a sister one second to seeing her a love interest the next. I would have liked to read a little bit more about the development of these feelings.

I really loved how the author mentioned the concept of love languages and how couples have to work through their differences when they express their love in different ways. It’s something that is realistic and it was great to read about Maddie and Nathan eventually communicating these differences.

Torque is filled with a tight knit family that of course comes with its own share of drama. It was really cute how they were all so close, and you can tell they cared about each other a lot. Everyone had their own individual vibrant personality but they all worked together.

One more thing I would have liked to hear about was the drama in regards to Dylan. Obviously it wasn’t the main plot point as this is a romance, but I would have liked to delve a little bit deeper into how everything was handed.

Overall I quite enjoyed Torque and devoured it in two days!

**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to the publisher/netgalley for providing me with this!

I received this arc for an honest review.
Book number 4 in the series. Has Maddie who is Sabrina’s best friend and is also friends with Dylan who is the youngest brother, they actually were in school together and became close growing up. She is now sleeping on his couch because the apartment she lives in has gone to shit and is not safe. The problem is that Dylan has bigger issues than just his brothers and won’t tell anyone.
One day when a biker shows up and threatens her because Dylan is not around Nathan who lives next door thinks she is dating said guy. He tells her she should not be dating guys like that. Ryan lives on the other side of Nathan with his soon to be wife.
Maddie who works as a Libran still goes to the Burns family Sunday dinners and she still has a crush on Nathan even though he is older than her. Nathan wants her to move from her apartment he wants more also but does not want to date her. That is until one after when he returns to the apartment complex seeing a good-looking woman at the pool in a bikini. Changing and going to the pool he is shocked when the hot woman turns out to be Maddie. They decide to start dating and she begins to stay at his place since Dylan is never home anyway. The only request she has is to keep it a secret. He agrees with her because he wants to be with her.
She has so many things going on in her life with the job maybe being cut, her car being damaged by the Kings, keeping secrets that Dylan asked her to keep, plus not telling her parents about things that are going on she finally snaps when Nathan goes all in and tries to fix everything for her, she panics and bails. See how this story ends and what happens with all of the characters and if Nathan and Maddie will get back together? What happens to Dylan? Read this wonderful story and see what happens. I gave this book one star because from the start I felt like their chemistry was forced, the dates were all awkward and it just did not flow easily, I had to skip multiple parts because it was too cringy.
The heroine's friends (Hope and Sabrina) were assholes and she forgave them too easily for what they said about her being a doormat....they blamed it on being drunk which in my world when you say horrible stuff while drunk you usually mean it because alcohol does nothing but reveal your inner thoughts as you no longer have control over what you filter when speaking. They were just downright horrible.
Maddie forgave Dylan too easily, he placed her life in danger many times for his selfish reason of not wanting to get help from his brothers because he didn't wanna seem like an even bigger failure than he already is from all the trash he did. All he did was show up and said "Oh I went to the police and told them everything" and she was quick to look pass all the trauma he put her through.
She practically lied the entire relationship but found it hard to forgive Nathan for assisting her with things that were falling a part in her life. She only got the idea that he is 'controlling' her from her friends, she cant seem to think for herself because she wasn't planning to 'forgive' Nathan until the same friends told her about love language and that she is in the wrong and she need to grovel.
I was upset with her the entire novel, I just think there was barely any development in her character as right upon till the very end she had people telling her what decisions to make, I have never read a book that infuriated me so much. She was just a pushover I wish that she would've grown a backbone and stood up to all her friends and take charge of her own life.

This is book 4 in this series about the Burns family. The first 3 books are about how Austin, Ryan and Sabrina get their happily ever after. Austin is the oldest, Ryan is the peacekeeper and Sabrina is the only girl in this brood. This is Nathan's book.

Maddie Roberts is Sabrina's best friend. She has been in love with Nathan since she was six and her family moved down the street from the Burns kids. She is now 26 and is a librarian, but is having some issues with her job and living situation. She ends up sleeping on the another Burn's brothers couch. Which happens to be right next door to Nathan. And this is how Nathan finally realizes that Maddie has grown up and he may be interested in her.

Usually in this type of storyline, the heroine has either grown out of her infatuation or has a moment where she says "I'm moving on, he is not into me." But Maddie never has this moment, and for some reason this feels less satisfying for me. I love the beginning when Nathan realizes he is interested in his little sister's best friend, and I loved the last 40% of the book.

I found Maddie to be really annoying at times while I was reading the book. She kept insisting she was an adult and telling her parents to treat her as thus, but she would treat her mother really mean! You don't get to get away with that when you are 26. But what I found really ingenious was how the author gave her a realistic flaw and provided an opportunity for growth. Maddie allows what her friends tell her about herself and any possible relationship she might have with Nathan to influence how she behaves. In the middle of the book it was frustrating to watch her spiral, but at the end it felt very realistic and fullfilling. It was quite lovely.

I read book three in the Burns Brothers series nearly a year ago now. When I saw that instalment number four was available to read and review, I jumped a the chance. I enjoyed the last one so much and although these are part of a series, you don't have to have read the other books. In fact, I haven't read the first two (yet).
Torque deals with second oldest Burns brother, Nathan. His little sister's best friend has been in love with him since she was six years old, but he hasn't a clue. When he suddenly notices that she's not a kid anymore and takes notice of the woman that she's become, he soon begins to see her in a different light.
Nathan is one of those characters who is both loveable and annoying. He seems completely clueless to the effect that he's had on Maddie all these years. His brothers can clearly see how they both feel about each other, this isn't a one-way thing, he just hasn't realised it.
I really enjoyed reading about their growing relationship and how they both come to terms with expressing their feelings for the other. Nathan has a tendency to be overbearing and combined with Maddie's attempts to people please, it could be a recipe for disaster. This is a couple that clearly works well together even if they have a few outside issues to deal with too first.
Having enjoyed this book and the previous one so much, I've gone and downloaded book one in the series. I'll be enjoying that one too soon. Overall, another great instalment in an enjoyable and entertaining series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Can’t get enough of the Burns brothers! After getting to know Maddie in the previous installment in this series, I was so excited to see her finally get what she has always wanted as she’s been in love with Nathan Burns since the day she met him. Nathan is truly an explosive individual, which is understandable knowing what he went through at a young age but has met his match in Maddie when she puts her foot down and doesn’t give him what he wants. Always looking to immediately fix things, Nathan doesn’t realize how grown Maddie is until she right in front of him, and when he finds her on a hookup app, he decides to take his shot. It’s comical how Nathan thinks he’s being stealthy trying to conceal his identity, but Maddie has been so in love with him she knows who he is right away and decides it’s a sign to shoot her shot. While I loved that these two finally got together, I found myself more intrigued with Dylan and what’s going on with him as his trouble and problems are what’s causing trouble for Maddie, which brings Nathan to the rescue. While we get most of those answers at the end of this book, I am eager to see what happens in the next installment to Dylan and the backlash it causes. In regard to Maddie and Nathan, I found myself so excited that she got her HEA with the boy of her dreams and that all the heartache was worth it in the end. Can’t wait for the next book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

4 Stars for this sister's best friend romance.

I thought Maddie was really sweet .... naive but sweet and she couldn't catch a break. And Nathan was growly but underneath all that surliness was a protector with a heart of gold. I found the banter between the characters very realistic ... especially between the brothers. I think what made the brothers so believable was that they didn't get along all the time ... they had their fights like real brothers do. I laughed so hard when the brothers would try not to swear in front of Ryan's little girl ... these big surly guys say "fudge" and "heck". But I found myself skimming the pages in the middle of the book as I found it very slow moving, but it didn't take long to pick up again. I liked the lead-in to Dylan's book, which was really throughout all of this book, and can't wait to read it!

Maddie has been in love with Nathan since she was a kid, but it's time to let go of that fantasy because he never thought of her as anything but his sister's best friend. When Nathan sees Maddie out by the pool, he wonders when she grew up and into a gorgeous woman at that! And now not only is she taking up all his dreams at night, he's dreaming about her during the day. But she's sweet Maddie and he's brash Nathan Burns ... they could never be compatible ... or could they?

"Every taste I'd gotten so far had been better than the last. I was more than prepared to overdose on her."

4 Addicted Stars!!! This book shows why it's okay to throw caution at the wind!!! Go for the girl!

Maddie has had a crush on her best friend's brother for years now, and he doesn't seem to have the same feelings. When he sees Maddie, he sees a little sister. Fed up with waiting for him to finally feel the same, Maddie decides to date others. But one day Nathan finally sees Maddie and realizes that there's more there than familial feelings. Add in some drama and the relationship isn't as easy as they'd hoped for.

I love This series so much and I'd been waiting for Nathan's story... and Gillian did not disappoint at all! The angst and push and pull were everything! This has got to be one of my favorite series to date!!!

I’ve plowed through this series in a matter of days. That’s how much I’m loving the Burns brothers and their family. And I couldn’t wait to see how Nathan and Maddie finally manage to get together. I was absolutely not disappointed in their story.

Maddie’s luck just keeps right on giving lately. The only problem? It’s all bad. And since she’s clearly never going to be seen as anything other than a little girl in Nathan’s eyes, it’s time to move on. Or so she thinks. Because Nathan finally clues into what his head has refused to acknowledge and decides he’s DEFINITELY going after the woman he wants. Once Nathan convinces Maddie to take a chance on him, the hard work really starts. Nathan has to respect Maddie’s wishes to remain low-key to avoid drama, when he really wants to shout from the rooftops that Maddie is his woman. And Maddie needs to figure out if she’s really the doormat her friends apparently see her as and if she can withstand all that is Nathan’s love. So when it all hits the fan, watching both of them try to make sense of the problems, how to solve them, and how to make it right with each other is interesting, to say the least.

I love how this series just keeps giving me relatable, lovable, frustrating characters. You know, like a family really is. And now I can’t wait to see what’s up Dylan’s sleeve, because I know it’s got to be something good.

Maddie has loved Nathan for practically her whole life. As his little sisters’s (really his cousin, but raised as siblings) best friend Maddie has been there for all the good and bad times in his life, almost as if she too was part of the family, even to the point of going to the weekly family dinner, but what happens when he realizes there’s more to Maddie than meets the eye. Maddie has just about given up hope that there’s ever going to be a chance for her and Nathan when a chance date opens up opportunity. But will Nathan’s alpha male, always have to be in charge lifestyle overwhelm Maddie, or give her the freedom to finally find happiness. The heat between these two leads starts with a slow simmer before quickly reaching a boiling point. Nathan’s attitude can be overwhelming at times but given his history his take-charge nature is understanding. This is book four in the series, and while you don’t have to read the other Burn’s siblings stories to enjoy this one you will have a better understanding. There’s a nice blend of heat and tenderness making this a nice quick read. 4.5 stars. I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review.

I was reluctant to like Nathan because he's always been a hothead and the most hostile to his brother's girlfriends. But this book really took a deep dive into who he is and I loved actually getting to know him. His transformation from not really thinking of Maddie in a romantic way to seeing her for the first time as more than his sister's annoying friend is fun to watch.

Maddie was fantastic and while many wouldn't have seen the two of them together, Maddie sees the best in Nathan and I enjoyed how that was reflected in the book especially with all the trauma the Burns brothers faced when they were younger.

Reading Nathan and Maddie's perspectives on what was happening in the relationship enhanced the book and allowed for us to really understand where they were at with each other. They have very honest conversations with each other and while they are keeping secrets about other people in the family, you understand it's because they have all grown up together and are really close.

I would recommend reading the first 3 books in the series to understand all the people in this book, but the author does a great job of refreshing the reader.

I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

3.75/5 stars!

The heroine has a childhood crush on the hero that she thinks will remain unrequited and thus decides to move on. Her action to do that makes the hero realize that he heroine is not only his cousin's best friend but a beautiful woman. As the two begun dating, they have to handle family, personal issues, and more as the two fall in love.

I liked this book, even though I hadn't read any of the previous books in this series. It was nice to see that the playboy hero has a heart of gold, fully committed to the heroine and his family, with the exception of a certain member that the whole family have bad past with. It was also nice to see the heroine grow stronger as life and her relationship with the hero taught her new traits about herself. I also liked the dynamics between the heroine and her parents as well as the closeness in the hero's brotherhood, flaws and all. I did wanted more details in certain parts of the story but that's a personal preference of mine. Overall, this was enjoyable book and I look forward to reading more Gillian Archer books in the future.

**Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.**

Hot headed Burns brother, Nathan finally getting his story and at times I felt so bad for him and others I wanted to slap him. Nathan has had a rough life just like the rest of his brothers but at times I felt he was misunderstood, and his brothers didn’t appreciate him at all. Yes, he has a bad temper, but he just tries to keep everyone in line and working hard. Maddie has loved Nathan for years but all he has ever done is see her as his sister’s best friend until one day and everything changes. When things seem to be going in the right direction so many people and outside forces try to keep them apart and tell them that they are just too different for it to work so I was immensely proud of Maddie for sticking up for herself when she did. Can they make things work out or will Nathan’s temper and railroading ways separate them, and can Maddie finally accept that things can work or will her insecurities get to her? I loved this book and Nathan even if he was a cocky hot head, but I insanely curious to know what will happen in Dylan’s story and who he will fall for.
