Mountain Manhattan: Mountain Man in the Big City Kindle Edition
I work with my hands in the Colorado Rockies, forging metal into massive sculptures. I’m no Renaissance man— I’m simple—all I need is fresh air, solitude, and an honest day’s work.
When I’m commissioned to install a piece of art in Central Park, I know the gig is too good to pass up. But the moment I arrive in Manhattan, where skyscrapers ruin the view, I’m longing for my cabin on the mountain.
Then I meet Mia and the Big Apple changes before my very eyes. This city girl is working the front desk of the Mid-Manhattan Hotel when I check in and I can’t help but check her out. Dark hair, a laugh that fills the room, and curves that wind their way straight to my heart.
It starts as a whirlwind romance—but it quickly grinds to a halt. Mia’s been given notice at her job and since she’s raising her siblings in the hotel’s basement—they need a place to live, too. Her life is complicated. And I don’t do complicated.
I could survive in the wilderness for a long ass time—but I’m not lost in the woods. Right now, I’m trying to find my way out of this concrete jungle. Only trouble is, Mia is the detour I didn’t see coming.
But she just might be the road that leads me home.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 April 2018I have been a massive fan of Frankie Love since she appeared in my recommended list and I haven’t looked back.
I devoured this book and it was great that it was longer than normal. I am so in love with this series and cannot wait for the next one.
Ford has been commissioned to build a sculpture that represents growth in Central Park Manhattan and had been hailed a hero after saving the son of the Mayor. Ford isn’t someone that likes the limelight and has been shunning the world now for the past few years after losing his son. But he realises that this is an opportunity that he cannot pass up nor does he want too. He is not enamoured by the city as soon as he arrives he wishes he was back on his mountain, that is until he sets eyes on Mia and everything seems right in the world. She is perfect for him in every way she doesn’t fall for his charm and she is down to earth in a way he wasn’t expecting to find. It’s not long before she and her family are wrapped around his heart and he’s dreading the day that his work is complete and he leaves for home.
Mia has had one awful year after the sudden death of her mother she has no choice other to leave college and take guardianship of her younger sister and little brother. She is working as the concierge when Ford walks into her life but knowing that he is only there for a few weeks can she really let her guard down and let him into her heart and family. She tries to push him away but she only feels free when she’s with him. Could this be more than a fling?
There are plenty of ups and downs in their story but it’s so enjoyable watching them fall for each other and both fighting emotions that neither can or will ever be able to hold back. And I loved the epilogue.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 March 2018Certain authors appear as suggestions for me quite often, and I’ve recently found myself trying to dive into said authors. Frankie Love is one such author. A few of Frankie Love’s mountain men stories have been mildly interesting to me, but Mountain Manhattan is my first-time diving into a Frankie Love story – while it was enjoyable, I wasn’t crazy about it.
When I started Mountain Manhattan, I was intrigued. It started off grabbing my attention, and it wasn’t long before things started to move. I love it when books are quick to grab you, throwing you straight into the story, and Mountain Manhattan did exactly that.
However, as the story progressed I realised I wasn’t enjoying it as much as I’d been expecting to. I was reading it to see how things ended, not because of any insane love for the book. I wasn’t forcing myself to read it, yet at the same time I could have easily put the book aside and picked up something else.
It was an enjoyable book, but it was missing that little extra spark that moves me into the realm of loving a book. It made for a decent introduction to Frankie Love, but it did not leave me a fangirl. Whether I’ll read the second book in the Mountain Man in the Big City series remains to be seen, as at present I’m undecided.
Overall, an okay book but not what I had hoped for.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 March 2018This is the first book by Frankie Love that I have read and it was a nice easy read. Although I knew where the story was going, it just made me want to keep reading, as the characters and storylines drew me in.
I had a few happy tears and totally empathised with Mia's situation; she is a strong woman and is such a good role model for her two siblings..Ford is just yummy in a mountain man, lumberjack kind of way. I can picture him in his checkered shirt and jeans with his beard and strong, sexy body.
Their love story is a hard road for them; both having a tragedy in their not so distant past, but you will be rooting for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommend this book
I found this a very enjoyable read. It was a stand-alone book with a HEA. It had very well developed characters, believable situations and not only the “happy ever after” but it gave a couple of quick glimpses of how the years progressed after, which I absolutely loved. Sometimes you wonder how the characters lives would have developed after the book finishes well this book gave you that glimpse and I loved that. The only negative I thought about the book was very minor. I found the love scenes dragged on a bit too long. But that was more my preference than an actual negative. Overall this was a very well written book and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable...
Ooohhh I love you love you love you Frankie Love ...
‘Mountain Manhattan’ by Frankie Love is the story of Mia and Ford... and once again you’ve delivered a beautiful, fun, flirty, sweet, story...
Ford, a mountain man from Colorado (yep we know Frankie knows how to do a mountain man!), He saved the Mayors son and as an artist is commissioned to make a sculpture in Central Park. He hates the city, feels like it’s a concrete jungle and just wants to get back to his mountain but knows this is an opportunity he can’t turn down. Even though he is hot, he’s had a personal tragedy so is closed off.
Entert Mia. Mia works in the hotel that Ford is staying at and sparks fly instantly. Mia maybe beautiful but she is so strong, so focused and has a huge heart. She is Such a lovely heroine you only want a HEA for... she is the guardian for her little brother and sister and she's trying her hardest to make sure they have everything they need.
Both Mia and Ford are struggling to overcome an event that has shaped where they are in their lives today but they are such wonderful characters and a joy to see them slowly open up to each other.
It’s an emotional read, especially when I read what Ford went through, which explained why he’s so distant...
I adored how he works through his issues.
‘Mountain Manhattan’ is an adorable love story about two people saving each other. This is my favourite book by Frankie Love so far. I loved the multiple epilogues too. I highly recommend this book.
Soooo beautiful

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet story
So this is a complete book. You get the details of the happy ending. No .99 cents for next 100 pages. Love that. There are hundreds of f-bombs. Don't care for that. I wouldn't recommend it to my mother. I do like the story in general, it sweet and what a man Ford is.

I have read Frankie Love before. It was a quick read with the main theme of Alpha Mountain Men who are captured in an instant by the sight of a woman who calls to them. They can be singularly focused and over the top...as that is the appeal of these books. When this book was offered for free, I figured it would be similar to the other one I read and decided to accept the "fantasy" of this type.
Well, surprise surprise...Manhattan Mountain had so much more going for it then what I thought I was going to get. This had the required "Mountain Man" but this had more depth and story to go with it.
Our Mountain Man, Ford, is a metal artist. He lives in the Colorado Rockies and had been asked to do an installation of original work for Central Park. It turns out Ford saved the NYC Mayor's son when he was in danger on a mountain hike. Once that happened, the mayor looked into the man who saved his son and saw what an accomplished artist he was...So here Ford was in the "concrete jungle" checking into a boutique hotel for the time he would be creating this work. Ford is checking in and the woman behind the desk strikes him. She is friendly, beautiful, charming and isn't shy when he starts to flirt a bit.
Ford was surprised he even felt like flirting with her as he had been emotionally dead for a few years now. He was up on his mountain away from everyone for a reason. He had not been able to save someone who meant the world to him. Saving the mayor's son was a necessity, he couldn't allow another boy not to be saved. Ford is intrigued with this woman and as luck would have it, she seemed a bit interested too.
Mia has had her hands full...full trying to manage her brother and sister after their mother died a year ago. It was a shock as the heart-attack happened out of the blue. Mia was in college but left immediately when she got the call. At 22, she became the guardian of her 10-year-old brother and 16-year-old sister. The mother had been the concierge and they all lived there in the hotel. When her mother passed, Mia took over the position. All was an adjustment, but they were holding it all together.
But now things are becoming more complicated. The longtime owner of this hotel finally took the plunged and sold it to a developer. This means Mia not only needs to find another job but also a place for the little family to live. In New York City, those are two huge endeavors to accomplish. She has a limited period of time and it is all Mia can think about.
With all of this pressure, her boss wants her to take a break and have a little fun. When Ford checks in, the boss comes out from his office and delivers the tux Ford needs for the gala tonight with the mayor. He wants to go to this like he needs a hold in his head and in order to make attending it bearable, he asks Mia to attend with him. The boss pushes for her to go...so Ford gets what he wants... Mia.
From this introduction, we can sense these two have more happening than they ever expected. The interest and chemistry between them took off...yet at the same time as hot as it was... there was also a sweet caring. It surprises both of them. Mia feels she has no time for any type of relationship. Ford knows he can't have any relationship...the pain would be too much when it goes bad.
But... they both are so drawn to each other for so many reasons outside of the lust they feel...There is more there...
This was a lovely surprise. The book had more depth and heart then I expected and it worked on many levels. I read it, enjoyed many moments and thought Franke Love expanded her style.
