4.3 out of 5 stars 278 ratings

“Even though I don’t deserve her—not now, not ever—I can’t see myself letting her go.”
Beyond these prison walls an entire life waits. A daughter I barely know. A twin brother I miss. A lifetime of penance to be paid. But regret consumes me, and what-if’s haunt me.
How do you forgive the irreversible errors of a boy, trying too hard to be a man?
Emerson Lane. She’s my how.
Warm. Passionate. Unexpected. She’s everything good in this world. She makes me feel dangerous things. Hopeful things.
Redemption isn’t something I thought I’d ever find. Until the keeper of my second chance found me.

“Your head and your heart aren’t enemies; they’re long lost lovers desperate to be reunited. You don’t have to choose between the two.”

Marley Valentine has once again written a story that grabbed me from the first few pages and did not let go. Jagger Michaels is an inmate, paying the price for a crime that tore his family apart. And Emerson Lane is the Legal Aid lawyer appointed to Jagger to inform him that he is being released on parole for his good behaviour inside and because his brother was willing to apply for the early release. In what should be a simple lawyer-client meeting, an immediate attraction occurs and sparks certainly fly. But this isn’t going to be an easy journey, an easy relationship or even an easy possibility.... and this is where Marley shines as she brings the angst, the slooooooooow burn and the right amount of drama to have your jaw dropping and you turning the pages to find out what’s going to happen next.

I absolutely fell in love with Emerson from halfway through Chapter 1. She has her head in straight, knows what she wants and how to get it and isn’t afraid to say it like it is. She’s got sass and spunk but a whole lot of heart and vulnerability too. And Jagger - he is one hell of a broken man with a backstory that will bring tears to your eyes and break your heart. And the real question is - does Jagger deserve redemption and, more importantly, will if ever forgive himself and start to move on. My heart ached so much for Jagger (while at other times I wanted to slap him in the head!) but ultimately this guy is gonna be one you won’t forget.

Finally I have to do a shout out to the fact Marley set this book on Australia (my home country) and even better, primarily in Sydney (which isn’t far from me). It was so refreshing to read another Aussie-based book by an Aussie author as so many set them overseas to cater for those readers. And I need to mention the fabulous secondary characters in Reclaim as well. I loved Emerson’s best friend Taylah plus Jagger’s family in Hendrix, Dakota and Sasha. And knowing we’re getting Hendrix’s book as well has me totally pumped because these are a group of people I’m desperate to read more about.

Marley Valentine has been a must-read author of mine since I found her debut novel Devastate and with Reclaim she has only cemented herself as an author to watch because she has talent and is definitely deserves all the praise she gets for her incredible storytelling.

A good idea for a story plot but so much of the past wasn’t explained so you were left wondering at the end. Why he had to run drugs in the first place, what happened with Sasha and the twins?

After reading a long list of amazing books, this one just adds to it. I was suffering a major book hangover and wasn't feeling like i would be overly invested in anything for a while. 1 chapter later and I was hooked.
This book was devoured and is my first read of Marley's and definitely won't be the last. And luckily I dont have to wait for the next one!
Keep writing and I will keep reading! Also super trippy about reading about my hometown :)

This was a great read! Emerson can’t seem to stay away from Jagger and their want and need for each other was practically screaming off the pages. I love that Emerson sees Jagger for so much more than he sees himself, their journey is so sweet and hard earned.

When I first read the blurb and a little snippet of this story, I knew I had to read it. I was hooked and couldn’t wait to devour it. Finally the day came and I was able to read it! I really enjoyed this story, and just like I predicted, I was hooked from the first page.

Jagger and Emerson have an undeniable connection to one another. I thought they were such great characters. While Jagger has the weight of his decisions on his shoulders, Emerson is passionate and does not judge Jagger, which is just what he needs. I did feel like I was waiting for something from the past to pop up and ruin things, which is the only reason why I didn’t give it 5 Stars. Other than that, this story was really enjoyable.

The secondary characters were great as well. Dakota is such a sweet, forgiving young lady. Taylah is so much fun, and Hendrix, well I can’t wait to read his upcoming story to see him find his own happy ever after. I liked how it captured the feelings that one would feel after being locked up for such a long time, the feeling of not being worth it, the feeling that you do not deserve anything because of past mistakes. It really gave me the feels and I really felt for Jagger. This emotional, and sweet story is actually my first read of Marley’s work, but after reading this I look forward to reading her released stories, as well as looking forward to future releases.

When you eagerly await a book and from the Prologue your hooked and you hold your breath the whole way through never wanting it to end, that’s when you know you connected with a book.

Reclaim by Marley Valentine was exactly that book for me. I’ll start with the Characters both Emerson & Jagger they we’re perfect I fell instantly in love with them, Jagger was a perfect mix of Devastatingly Gorgeous, Bone Crushingly Lost and void of life but has a caring undercurrent that he keeps hidden because he believes he deserves the life that is set before him., he doesn’t like to hope on tomorrow.

Emerson meets Jagger under circumstances that are not ideal like Magnets these two have a magnetic current that has her wanting to go above and beyond to help him. She intrigues him but she’s out of his league. Emerson is responsible for a lot of positives for Jagger and the meeting with Dakota is one that will melt your heat.

What I find most endearing is the multiple relationships throughout Reclaim. Jagger-Hendrix, Jagger-Dakota, Dakota-Hendrix, Jagger-Sasha, Hendrix-Sasha, Emerson-Taylah, Jagger-Emerson & Emerson-Dakota. This book, the characters and the emotion Marley really nailed it all.

I loved it all, it has Angst, Heartbreak, a palpable Intenseness and a promise of tomorrow.
Congratulations Marley, on a fantastic book, I cannot get enough of these characters. Recommended read for me.

I love a book that humanizes people that have made mistakes. Learning about why Jagger did what he did, as well as seeing reintegrate into normal life, was wonderful. Emerson has such a sweet heart. I love how the drama was never over the top, but just enough to give the story some depth. I’m pretty excited for book 2!

This was only my second read by Marley Valentine but it will honestly not be my last... both books I've instantly fell right into the pages easily getting invested with the story and characters.
Jagger makes a major mistake in his teenage years leaving him away from his family and loved ones... when it comes time to be going home hes not sure how to deal with things and that's when Emerson is thrown into his life without even realising where this will take them.
Really liked all main characters especially Jagger.. the only thing I'd say is I would have loved a but more story in places throughout but overall was a fantastic read.
Will look forward to reading Hendrix and Sashas stories over time too!
