Teachers, Students and Mobsters!

I generally don’t like books about teachers and students becoming romantically involved, especially set in high school. It is funny that it is more acceptable in college even though the chances are that the age gap between a professor and a college student could be much greater than a young teacher and a senior in high school. Though I suppose it is because at least in college the students are most likely over 18.

In this case the student is over 18 and the teacher is only 23 so a five year difference is not that big. Also, even though I usually don’t like older women/younger men romance books, this one didn’t bother me. Technically if you fall in love with someone it is better for the woman to be older because women have longer life spans then men and if you are together your whole life you have a better chance of not outliving your spouse by many years if the woman is older. That statistic keeps coming to my mind anyway.

Despite my misgivings, this was a good book. It wasn’t insta-love and the Hero was Knox from book one. If you read the first book you know that Knox is not only a great guy, but is also wise beyond his years. He was the one that took care of Blakely when she suffered from nightmares and anxiety from something that she witnessed as a child.

The heroine in this case is a girl named Claire who came to town after running from her mobster husband who treated her like a possession and became cruel after their first year of marriage. She is worried that he will find her and tends to see herself as having no future. However, she finds herself attracted to Knox who is her neighbor, since she is staying in the guest house behind Blakely’s main house which is next door to Knox’s mother’s house.

Knox has been training to fight in an underground fight club that his best friend Axel has been running so he is tall and muscular and hard to resist. There are some quite steamy scenes in this book as well as some intrigue and suspense. I doubt I am giving away any spoilers when I say that eventually Claire’s husband finds her. That storyline is quite good and Claire turns out to be quite a pistol in this book. I liked her a lot.

The next book is about Axel and Harper who were in this story quite a bit as well. They were friends since they were kids, and dated for about three months until something happened and they broke up. Axel apparently was a great guy until his mother cheated on her husband and then died. Now he is a guy who is angry all the time, Harper says he is empty and he says Harper is fake. They say they hate each other, but they both spend too much time trying to one-up each other in this book for a couple that doesn’t want to be together so the next book should be a good one.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

I loved this book so much! It’s a heartfelt romance and a suspense novel all rolled into one. Claire has escaped from her mobster husband and finds love with her next door neighbor (and student!) Knox, who we met in the previous book in this series. This is a sweet romance with some mildly suspenseful bits, but it’s never too angsty or stressful. The perfect comfort read! I love the author’s style, and I can’t wait to read the third book - which stars Axel and Harper.

Like You, the second book in the Redwood High series, was an angsty student/teacher forbidden romance that had my heart swooning the entire time I devoured this story. Truth be told I almost skipped right past the first book in this series so that I could instantly dive into this one since I absolutely adore this trope, but of course I was a good girl and this one was totally worth the wait!

Knox Burton and Claire Hyland's story had some epic twists and turns that certainly captivated my heart and soul. The suspense that was intertwined throughout the pages was just the perfect amount to keep me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put it down until I reached the end because HOLY hell it was an intense read. Oh and don't even get me started on the chemistry between these two...it lit my soul up and made it ached in the best way possible. Their story gripped me tight and I must say that I loved every second of it.

The second book in the Redwood High series was EVERYTHING and it was certainly a bit of a steamy read. If you are a FAN of student/teacher romances then this story is for you! Rachel Leigh created an incredible storyline that had me falling in lust with each and everyone of her characters. Let me just say I cannot FREAKING wait to get my hands on Axel (he is my main squeeze since I called dibs on him already...just ask Rachel) and Harper's complicated journey! It is sure to be an EPIC read!

Good story, poor execution, at least that was my first thought when I finished the book. I like a good teacher/student book and the fact that here, the roles were reversed was very appealing. Knox is an eighteen-year-old high school senior, he is a typical teenager who likes to hang out with friends and party.
Claire is an art teacher, she is only twenty-three and is Konx's teacher and also his neighbor.
To be honest, I didn't feel any connection between them at the begging. He was as attracted to her as any teenager would be and the age difference is not even big.
Claire is not a typical small-town teacher, she has a dark past to whom she tries to escape, little by little we find out why she is running and I lied that part of the story.
The struggle is there, she tries to resist her attraction to Knox but in the end, they start an affair.
As a couple, they were ok, but they had just a couple of scenes together and in those scenes, I couldn't feel that tension and sparks that were supposed to be there.
The story is very easy to read, and in the end, a lot of things happen. There were some unbelievable moments that in my opinion were too much
Of course, we got a happy ending which again, was a little too good to be true and the epilogue again didn't quite give me that feeling that they really are in love.

There is a whole lot jammed into this book for sure. Not sure where to begin first. This is a teacher/student romance and the teacher is not really a teacher. She is a woman on the run from her sex-trafficking, drug selling, abusive soon to be ex-husband. It's a lot and she is only 23. She ends up getting a job and a place to live from an ally of hers. But it's only two hours away from the ex which to me...made no sense. If you're trying to hide, you change your name. You haul ass to another country from this madman. This was one of the many reasons this story was not believable for me.

Knox is an 18 year old stud. He is super smart, hot and all the rage. Of course, he falls for the hot teacher and as if she didn't have enough to worry about, she gets wrapped up with him. Knox's mom is the principal at his school. His 17 year old best friend Axel is super rich and runs an underground fight club.

The ex husband turns up like they always do. Knox and Axel get caught in the middle of all of the drama. I had to repeatedly remind my self that these two were only 17 and 18 years old. This story had so many moving parts. Each one more unbelievable than the next that I found myself skimming a whole lot of this book. It definitely wasn't real life for high school kids. But if you love the angst, action and crazy times...you will LOVE this book. For me, I just couldn't get into the complicated storyline going on.

Book 2 in the Redwood High series and the first that I have read. Older woman/younger man high school/forbidden relationship. Claire and Knox were such a great couple. She is a 23 year old woman posing as a substitute teacher who is running from her abusive, sex-trafficking and drug dealing soon to be ex. She meets Knox, an 18 year old high school student at her new school. There is a very intense chemistry between them. It is explosive but so forbidden since she is older and his teacher. Can they keep their relationship secret and will she be able to stay hidden from her ex? This book will have you on the edge of your seat with all the suspense, romance and steam. You will be shocked, swooning and very hot by the time you are finished with Claire and Knox’s story. You won’t want to put it down. Loved it and can’t wait to read more from this author.

I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Like You is book 2 in the Redwood High Series. This is Knox's book. I really enjoyed this one even though I was slightly confused with the age of Knox from book 1 to book 2. I just assumed that he was the same age as Jasper and Blakely, but I got over it quickly. I love the strength in Knox and his passion for life. When you meet Claire you get that there is more to her. That little twist of who she is running from makes the story line so much more then just a student/teacher relationship. Knox and Claire's chemistry is so hot that you forget that she is his teacher. I love that while we have an amazing love story forming between Claire and Knox that we still get the everyday drama you would expect from high school students and running from your past. I can't wait for the next book to come.

Book two in the redwood high series, this time we get Knox and Claire's story. This is my second Rachel Leigh book and from what I have found she sure knows how to make her characters suffer before they get their HEA. But when they do they are all the sweeter.

Claire is ready for a fresh start, she isn't looking for love. She definitely isn't wanting to start something with a student.

There is something that draws Knox to the new teacher at school. As she also happens to be his next door neighbor he finds himself helping out and spending more time with her.

How do the pair handle their developing feelings and what happened when Claire's past catches up with her?

Rachel really went to the next level with book two of Redwood High. Not only was the story for Like You a scandalous one being a student teacher romance, it was fast paced, filled with combustible moments, and satisfying characters that really keep your attention to what’s going on and it’s important to the story! I loved everything about it! To sum it all up without any spoilers I’d say it’s like watching classic Degrassi only with higher stakes and a whole lot of steam! It’s a must read continuation and a fabulous addition to this addictive new adult world

Like You is book 2 in the Redwood High series, but you can read it as a standalone. I really enjoyed Knox and Claire's messy, romantic story. While reading this book, I realized how much I overlooked Knox in Like Gravity (book 1). What a shame! Knox is major book husband material and the way he saw Claire was so sweet.

"I may not have money or things to offer, but I can give her a look in a room full of strangers and tell her how much I love her, with just my eyes alone. I can hold her and protect her when the lightning strikes out of nowhere and she needs shelter, I can be her shelter."

Knox Burton is a senior at Redwood High. Claire Hyland is his art teacher. He shouldn't notice, but he sees beyond the beautiful, cold image Claire shows to the rest of the town. He sees how sad she is, how alone she is, and the secrets she tries to hide. Add in the fact that they're neighbors and things get even more tangled up between them.

"You once asked me to tell you about my future and what I see—I see you, Knox."

Of course, if you've read Rachel's other Redwood books, you know by know that things in Redwood are always darker and more complicated than they seem. Claire held onto her mysteries to the end and kept me guessing. The situation she was running from was dreadful and kept getting worse. I liked the place Claire and Knox went to when they were together, a place beyond circumstances. I hope to see more of them in book 3!

This is the second book in the Redwood series. You can read this as a standalone, however, it's best to read the previous book for better experience. We met Knox in "Like Gravity" . I really liked him and was excited to read his story. I really didn't know what to expect. I did know it was student/teacher and small age gap but I definitely wasn't expecting that twist about Claire's past. Can't wait to read more!

I loved Knox and Claire’s story. I loved Knox in the first book and how sweet he was to Blakely his best friend. In this book we get to see more of Knox and how he has a crush for his new art teacher, who just so happens to stay in his best friend Blakely’s guest house next door. Does she feel the same way? Claire ran away from her previous life because it wasn’t a good one. will her past get in the way? I loved all the drama in this book and I can’t wait to read the next book.

Age Gap- Forbidden Love

Knox just wants to get thru his Senior year so he can begin college at UCLA. Claire is running from her past. She ends up at Redwood High teaching Art and hating every second. She is also renting the first house from Blakely, Knox's best friend and neighbor.

They are attracted to one another and begin a secret affair. Knox knows she is holding back and Claire feels she is being watched. Malcolm, Claire's husband, has had enough of her running and makes a play to get her back.

Her past and secrets come out and Claire is the only one who can stop Malcolm so she can reclaim her life.

Rachel writes gritty books with characters who have tragic pasts. This is part of a series and ends with a snippet of who the next book will be about.

INTENSE, FORBIDDEN ROMANCE, EXTRA SUSPENSEFUL
I received an ARC of Like You for an honest opinion.
Knox and Claire blew me away in this book. I've actually never been a huge fan of age gap books but there was only a few years age difference between these two and Knox was already 18 when he met Claire and the way Rachel wrote this book it was very endearing and charming.
Knox is mature for his age however he is a little sneaky in the ways he is trying to get closer to Claire, which actually had me smiling. Claire has had a terrible start to her young adult life and is running from a past she's desperately trying to leave behind.
As the two grow closer Claire realizes that, yes she has made bad judgments in the past but the way she feels for Knox is anything but wrong.
I loved Knox in the first book of this series Like Gravity, but this book just shows more of his depth and intensity for someone he truly loves. The book ends with a wonderful HEA and it is written extremely well with some nail biting intensity.

This was the first book I’ve read by Rachel and it won’t be the last! With a badass heroine and a sweet and sexy love interest I was hooked from the beginning. Beneath the surface of this teacher/student romance was a story of a woman finding her inner strength and self worth. Claire is hiding a lot in her past and isn’t sure she is worthy of a future until she meets Knox. A high school senior, she knows he’s off limits but finds herself drawn to him. While exploring her feelings for him she realizes that what she really needs is to love herself and fight for her own future. This book has romance, suspense, and humor sprinkled throughout. A steamy read that kept me turning pages with its fast-paced plot.

Loved it! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. This is my first time reading a book from Rachel Leigh. Like You is the second book in the Redwood High series. This is Knox and Claire's story. Claire is a temporary art teacher at Redwood High. Knox is one of her students. I love how Rachel was about to weaved past and present together. This story of a woman finding her inner strength. Now that she met Knox, she can finally figure out that she is worthy to have a future with someone that she loves. This can be read as a standalone. You will be hooked into this story just like me. I'm definitely going back and reading more from this author. Keep up the awesome work.

Claire arrives in Redwood on the run from her mobster husband. Thanks to Blakely( MC in the first book) she gets a job as an art teacher at the same high school where Knox( neighbor and Blakely’s best friend) attends. Although she tries to avoid it, she ends up hooking up with Knox, it has been so long since she felt that way with anyone...
They both keep their relationship a secret, but when Claire finds out that her husband is close to finding out her whereabouts, she decides to leave Knox and run away. But Malcolm Rossi is not finished with her yet. But she is no longer the same innocent young woman from years ago, this time she will fight to protect Knox and herself.
I’m dying to read Harper and Axel’s story. I ❤️this series.

Rachel Leigh has given us a great story in Like You. It's a student/teacher romance that pulled me in immediately and kept my attention until the very end.

When Claire moved to Redwood to start a new life and a new job the last thing she expected was to start a relationship with one of her students. Knox is attracted to Claire from the off and her been his teacher makes no difference to him but he soon finds himself caught up in Claire's past. Will she be able to escape her past once and for all before everything comes crashing down.

I enjoyed Like You although it does have a lot going off all at once. I look forward to reading more from Redwood in the future.

This was my first book by Rachel Leigh, and I'm happy to say I was not disappointed! I have to be honest I usually don't like age difference stories when the younger one is still in high school, but I gave this one a chance anyway. The story of Claire and Knox is not what is seems at face value. Of course she's running from a pretty questionable past and unfortunately it comes back to haunt her and Knox gets caught in the crossfire. But don't worry, it will work itself out. ;)

With a little age difference, a lot of love and just enough steam Like You was a fun way to spend an afternoon.

This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and is Knox and Claire’s story. Claire is escaping from her past when she moves to a small town as a temporary high school art teacher. Knox is a senior and his mom is the principal. The chemistry between these two is explosive and undeniable, but can they keep a forbidden teacher / student relationship a secret? This is a well written story which is filled with secrets, suspense, and love which all lead to a humorous and steamy read. I cannot wait to read more form this author and I recommend her work for all readers.

A little mystery. A little age gap. A little forbidden teacher/student love. A past that comes back to make things interesting. All these things make this a fast paced page turner. It is more than a teacher/student story. Claire was very closed off in the beginning. Teaching was not one of her life goals. Her circumstance was a little precarious. Knox is smart, hardworking and has a good heart. In the beginning he seemed like a typical high schooler. But his maturity came through when it was needed.

Darker and seedier then the first book in the series this was an intense read.

After the events of Like Gravity, Knox let's go of his feelings for B and is focused on school and his future.

Claire is running away from her past, constantly looking over her shoulder. Taking a job as a substitute art teacher, she attempts to get her life back together.

When invisible bonds pull them together, it's time to decide whether their present is worth the risk.

5 stars and a secret.

Rachel Leigh did a great job on Like You, it was a good story. The plot was written well. Claire and Knox's relationship may have been on the forbidden side but they were drawn to each other, they were good for each other. The connection was strong between them, so wasn't their chemistry, it was sexy. These two were great together. I enjoyed their journey.
This was a good story. Thanks, Rachel Leigh. Great work :)

It was amazing to read a teacher/student romance where the girl was the teacher and the guy was the student. Claire is on the run from her past but Knox the every helpful highschool student grabs her attention and her heart. They have a lot that they have to work through before they can have a happy ending but it was a very interesting journey. Really enjoyed this one.
