    I really liked this book, I've been a fan of Serena Akeroyd's books for a while, and I'm excited to read more in this series. I will say, I feel like they kept pushing the whole 'Hades and Persephone' retelling and admittedly, that's what attracted me to the book, but now having read it, I do think that comparison was unnecessary and not really present in the book. I think the ending was lacking a bit but perhaps it'll even out with the next instalment, whenever that might be. Check your trigger warnings and happy reading!

    I absolutely loved, loved, loved this book. Nikolai is a character of human dichotomy, that all authors dream of creating. He has so many layers and for a character that is essentially mute, that's not an easy feat. He's hard as stone, yet loves deeply. He's demanding, yet gives with his whole self. He's mute, yet says so much in actions. He makes his enemies tremble, yet those who truly know him, would die for him.
    Cassie is a strong a$$ed woman. She has met one of the devil's earth side minions, but she's still standing. And through the love and unwavering support of a strong and silent man, her true self has soared and together, you know they're going to be the titanium backbone, the Lost Boys need to flourish.

    Cassiopeia and Nikolai were just perfect for each other. The qualities they brought out in each other just made them stronger. Nikolai was obsessive and possessive to the extreme... chef's kisses. Cassiopeia understood what drove him and kept him on his toes.

    There seemed to be some skipping towards the end that jumped some significant changes, especially in relation to other characters in the book.

    Overall, it was a good story that kept me intrigued and turning pages.

    This a a weaving love story giving hints to other characters and series of books in Serena Akeroyds repetoir.

    Serena weaves a tale like no other and Cassi and Nico's story is yet another fabulous one. I love how we get background on the Russians we already know and how this weaves in with the Five Points and the Sinners. This couples story is far from 'normal' but is beautiful in it's own way.     What can I say? Our favorite author is just an amazing storytelling, world builder, and characters so fleshed out you could swear they live somewhere in the world or the next dimension over.

    Just a reminder this book is in the middle of a storyline arc that spans multiple series. The main characters from all of those series end up involved with NYC organized crime syndicates in some connection or another.

    So, unless you just finished the previous book in the collection, please start at Nyx (Sinners MC AKA Dark & Dirty Sinners MC series) continue on to Filthy (Five Point Mob Series), and then follow the reading order that you’ll find either when you read to end of the book or when join the book club which has an easy peasy picture of all the book covers available if you sign up, and don’t forget to sign up for the newsletter for free stuff, previews, snippets, and early peeks at the goodies. I promise as fans of this world, we are spoiled often with a lot of fan service.

    In this world there are Motorcycle Clubs, the Irish Mob, the Sicilian Mafia, and now the Russian Bratva, er, The Forgotten Boys who are the people who will turn the world they know it on its head.

    With Silenced, and the Forgotten Boys series, you’ve got a whole new faction to add on to the list of good guys who would be perceived as bad guys in our world. The Russian Bratva are going to have their turn to make their mark on the world while seeing the transition from their world turned upside down.

    I am really impressed how our fav author has tackled a rough topic and give it a gentle hand. Cassiopeia is treated to the worst the world could offer, and Nicolai brings her out of the darkness and treats her with his own brand of heavy-handed kindness, gentling her from out of the depths of her harrowing experiences, and teaching her through his actions that there’s more to herself than she has known.

    We see snippets of the world changing that we saw in Filthy Lies and Filthy Truth within the pages of Silenced. Within that duet, I thought there was so much completion that I couldn’t imagine what more our fav author could make of this world. Yet, her imagination is boundless, her world so thoroughly painted in black and white font that it could be a neighboring dimension of existence of its own that she has tapped into from which to draw inspiration.

    Also, who doesn’t love a little homage to Greek mythology, Hades and Persephone’s love story is made even better through our fav author’s Midas touch.
